A/N: Hey guys I'm back again. Here's another chapter for you guys hope you enjoy it.
Chapter six: The test of bonds part 1
It's been a couple of months since Naruto had left the village as a rouge. Though no one really cared if he left. Many were glad others were mad that the criminal had gotten away. They wanted him to pay for his crime. The attempted murder of their fifth Hokage. Luckily, she didn't die, though unfortunately she has yet to wake up. Doctors are unsure if she will ever wake up at all. With such news the villagers were devastated without a Hokage to rule over the village, how will there be order? Though that problem was solved when Kakashi Hatake was instated as the Rokudaime Hokage. There were many things that needed to be sorted out before anything else. He had to ease the villagers fears and worry of the fact that their beloved village might be endangered. The only thing Kakashi could say was that it was a pain in the ass.
Not only did he had to calm the villagers he also had to keep the incident from the other Kages. Especially from Gaara, knowing him he would take Naruto's side. He didn't know what the other Kage's reaction will be, though they would probably investigate the incident in secret. Which would leave Naruto in protective custody, until the case was resolved. When they don't need to do since they already know that Naruto Uzumaki is guilty. And it was because of this that he refrained from listing Naruto into the bingo book. Though every Konoha shinobi knows that they are to apprehend him or kill him on sight. But knowing that Naruto would not let himself be captured so easily, they are to eliminate him instead. It brings him great pain to order this action, but it can't be helped. Naruto must face the consequences of his actions. Kakashi let out a sigh, the reports that the anbu had given him about Naruto was useless. There wasn't anything that tells him why Naruto decided to turn on Tsunade or the village. It was the same thing every single time, Naruto stating his innocence. And the different methods of torture used to get him to talk. Though when he read the part about the different tortures, he couldn't help but feel a twinge of regret, like a feeling that tells him Naruto shouldn't have gone through that. A part of him was screaming that Naruto is innocent. Though it was easily ignored as soon as it started.
Kakashi couldn't help the feeling of dread forming in the pit of his stomach. Something was coming, and it was going to hit them hard. And he had a feeling that Naruto is going to be the center of it all. Not only that but they'll lose Naruto forever. Kakashi didn't know how to feel about it, on one hand it's his student and sensei's son. But on the other he's a criminal that needs to be brought to justice. If only he could turn back time, then he could have prevented Naruto from going down a dark path.
"Why did it come to this? First it was Sasuke and now Naruto, why is this happening? Is team seven really cursed to continue this way. Sensei, just what should I do?" Asked Kakashi as he stared at the picture of his late sensei. But he received no answer to his questions. Kakashi sighed once again for the hundred time that day. It seems that's the only thing he's been doing lately.
Meanwhile at Sunagakure, the Godiame Kazekage was receiving a report from one of his subordinates he had sent to investigate the situation that occurred in Konoha.
"Are you sure that the information you gathered is correct?" asked Gaara in a monotone voice.
"I am positive that the information is correct Kazekage-sama. Though how they could easily believe that Naruto-sama could do such a thing is beyond me." Said the shinobi. Gaara simply nodded in agreement.
"As do I, you would think they would recount the incident with blood prison, where they tried framing Naruto just, so they could get to the kyubi's chakra. But I suppose Konoha are just simply fools in their own way. You're dismissed." Said Gaara as the shinobi responded with a quick yes sir and left. Leaving only Gaara and his siblings in the office to think of what they just heard.
"What do you think of all this Gaara? There is no way that Naruto could do something like this. It must be a plot from someone that has a score to settle with him. Maybe Sasuke is behind this. After all, he and Naruto still haven't settle things with each other, even though Sasuke returned to Konoha after the war." Said Temari as Kankuro agreed with her. She had grown to like Naruto as a little brother since he and Gaara started to spend more time with each other as they talked and on occasions played pranks (mainly on Kankuro). And she knows that Gaara also views Naruto as a little brother, and that is why he'll do anything to get to the bottom of this.
"I think it is about time that the rest of the Kage know of this. Naruto is going to need all the support he can get. But first we need to gather information on the whereabouts of Naruto. And we'll find them in Konoha. I already know who the culprit maybe but even then, that isn't enough information we have on him/her. If what Tsunade-sama said is true, then the one who is behind this is the very same one who has been stalking Naruto ever since the war ended. Meaning the culprit had all the time he needed to prepare his plan. And now it has been set in motion and Naruto is right in the middle of it. For all we know the enemy may already have their hands on him." Said Gaara. He was already thinking of many types of scenarios that involved Naruto suffering at the enemy's hands and none of them were good.
"You don't think it's another Akatsuki do you?" asked Kankuro. They already went through a war, the last thing they need is another Akatsuki trying to collect the biju and revive the Jubi. But then again that can only happen if they were Madara's level and had the Rinnegan. Otherwise it would fail.
"No, if that were the case then the enemy would have come after the rest of the biju. And since there are only three Jinchuriki left, the enemy would have come after Bee and me. But neither Bee or I have been targeted. Meaning Naruto was the target all along, though for what purpose I don't know. And Naruto is facing this all alone, the pain of being betrayed by his comrades and friends have left scars in him. It's probably driving him into darkness, and Naruto does not deserve to be forced to walk down a dark path. Not after everything he's done for everyone, including myself. I think its about time we repaid the favor don't you think." Said Gaara. His siblings simply nodded. It was their turn to save Naruto this time, the war doesn't count since in the end it was Naruto and his team that saved them all. But now they have another shot.
"I'll go make the necessary arrangements for our departure." Said kankuro as he left his two siblings in the office. To discuss further on what they plan on doing. Unknown to them that they have been spied upon by the very being responsible for their friend/brother's disappearance.
"I see that there are more than two nuisances that need to be taken care of. Though these ones I don't think I can break their bonds so easily like the other two. A bond between Jinchuriki is very difficult to break. Though the other two would simply trust their younger brother's word. The only option left is to simply stall them in their mission. Sorry Gaara but little Naruto can't come back here, I simply won't allow it." Said Akira as he forged a couple of documents into Naruto's hand writing. And what made those documents special? Well to simply put they were plans on how to assassinate the Hokage and exact his revenge on the village. With those he can incriminate Naruto, and any hope they had of Naruto being innocent will be gone. But just in case he'll need to do something more drastic to ensure his plans go smoothly. But first he needs to put these documents where the Nara boy could find them. Luckily for him he knew of a hidden compartment in Naruto's room they had yet to find. A perfect place to put these documents in and no one would know.
Shikamaru found this whole thing troublesome. He never expected Naruto to do something so Sasuke like. At first, he thought this whole incident was off, that Naruto was innocent and that is why he acted like the rest of the villagers and shinobi. Though he was really buying time in finding evidence in clearing Naruto's name. Only he didn't find any evidence that would clear his name. The more he looked the more he found a lack of any evidence that would incriminate him or clear his name. And that is what he found so odd, wouldn't there be any type of evidence against Naruto? Which is why it led him back to Naruto's apartment, he knows for a fact that Naruto was indeed very intelligent. He just didn't like showing it for whatever reasons. Though he could probably guess why. And he knew that Naruto would probably have a hidden compartment in his apartment. Though where is the question he wanted an answer to.
'Where in this apartment could Naruto have a hidden compartment?' thought Shikamaru. He looked around the room one last time before something in the corner of the desk caught his eye. He walked towards the desk and examined it, the desk had a very impressive design carved into the desk. At first glance it looked nothing more than a regular desk with a unique design, but on closer inspection he could see a storage seal among the design. In fact, the whole design was a very complex seal integrated among the unique design that if someone looked at it they wouldn't have spotted it. He almost dismissed it himself if it wasn't for the fact that he had recognized the storage seal at the corner of the desk.
'No wonder no one could find anything, it was hidden in plain sight, yet no one was able to see it. It was a very smart move on Naruto's part. But when did Naruto know about seals?' thought Shikamaru. The more they investigated the incident the more things they find out about Naruto that they didn't know about. Like the fact that Naruto knew anything about seals. Not to mention the way he had hidden the seals in a way that was unique. Shikamaru always knew that there was more to Naruto then anyone ever knew. He just didn't know how much there was to know about the blonde shinobi.
Shikamaru then proceeded to unseal whatever was stored in the seal. Making the necessary hand signs, he unsealed what looked to be documents from the seal. Picking the documents up he started to read them. And what he read shocked him to his core. No matter how many times he went through them, he couldn't deny what he had in his hand. In his hand where carefully laid out plans on the assassination of the fifth Hokage. The writing was Naruto's, no one else could possibly have wrote this unless they had a sharingan. But the last known person to have the Sharingan is Sasuke. And he is out of the village, so it couldn't have been him.
"Damn it, Naruto. Just what is going on in your mind, for you to do this?" asked Shikamaru to no one in particular. Unknown to him he was being watched by Akira. Akira couldn't help the smile that lit up his face. Everything was according to plan. All he had to do was just wait until all the pieces fell into place. And if they found out about him, it wouldn't mean a thing, for the damage is done. Naruto would not be leaving his world anytime soon. And if they managed to come to his world. Something tells him Sesshomaru wouldn't let them take his first real friend without a fight. Though he finds it ironic, for Sesshomaru can be very possessive of what he claims to be his packmate, just like an Uchiha. Akira's attention was brought back to the present when Shikamaru closed the door to Naruto's apartment.
"And so, it begins. Though I wonder what that Uchiha brat would do once he finds out about this? Would he come to kill his friend and brother in all but blood? Or would he believe his innocence and find out the truth? I guess only time would tell. Though one things for sure, the Kazekage brat would not be fooled so easily. Even with the parchments of paper Shikamaru found. Gaara would not be fooled. The bond between jinchuriki can be very surprising." Whispered Akira as he blended into the shadows, trailing right behind Shikamaru as the head of the Nara clan headed towards the Hokage tower.
Meanwhile at Suna, Gaara had already sent the news via hawk, to the other kages. Within a week's time there would be a Kage summit. To discuss the situation concerning Naruto. The dreadful feeling that he has been feeling for the past months was only getting worse. No matter how many days pass, the feeling never leaves him. Gaara can only worry for the friend that has always put his friend's happiness before his own. The only one he could be proud to call a friend, Naruto.
'Naruto, please hang in there. No matter what happens please just don't let hatred consume you my friend. Because I'll always have my hand stretched out until you take it. I will not allow you to fall into darknesss. For you belong in the light, and that is where you must stay.' Vowed Gaara. His brother Kankuro entered the room just as he and Temari were about to leave.
"Everything is ready, we can leave when you're ready. Though I suggest we leave in the morning. That way we could get some sleep before making the long trip to Konoha." Said Kankuro.
"I would prefer to leave immediately, but I know you're right. Traveling while not having the proper rest would be foolish. We'll leave in the morning, hopefully we'll find the answers we seek in Konoha." Said Gaara as he left the room in order to rest for the long journey ahead for him. His siblings quickly followed after a minute or so. They have many things to do and so little time to do them all. They could only pray for everything to be alright in the end. Though deep down they knew nothing will be the same as it used to be once everything settles down. But they desperately hoped, for that is the only thing they can do. Hope.
Kakashi could only stare at the documents he held. The very same documents that Shikamaru had discovered in Naruto's apartment. He had read them thoroughly, yet he couldn't believe it all the same. Naruto HIS student had been planning this since the beginning. He wanted to deny it, heck something deep down told him this was nothing more than a ploy of some kind. But the evidence was staring at him. He couldn't keep doing this to himself always looking for some form of something anything to prove that all this is nothing more than a nightmare. Maybe they didn't defeat Madara and all this is nothing more than an illusion he casted on him?
'There I go again, making some excuse to deny this nightmare. Instead of facing this cruel reality no matter how much it pains me.' Thought Kakashi. Shikamaru could only watch as his Kage face his inner turmoil. He knew that Kakashi was suffering, silently suffering from this twisted turn of events. And he knew what the next outcome will be, but can he really go through with this? Even if the evidence is as clear as day, can he really condemn Naruto? Without trying to save him like Naruto did for Sasuke? But then again that too could have been a ploy for them to lower their guard. And lower their guard they did. And they paid the price for it more specifically Tsunade-sama paid for their stupidity.
'And yet, there's something screaming at me not to do this. Begging me not to forsake the very bonds we had forged. But I can't let my emotions cloud my judgement. Naruto must be brought to justice. The last thing we need is another Madara wreaking havoc across the elemental nations.' Thought Shikamaru. Though it pained him to think of Naruto as an enemy. It felt like yesterday that they both were playing shogi. He couldn't help but let out a tired sigh.
"Hokage-sama, I know this isn't what you wanted. But you need to face the facts, Naruto is guilty. There's no denying it now. He must be brought to justice even if it pains you. I know that you are…were his sensei. But that's the past he isn't the same person you knew him. I doubt you…we ever actually knew him. So, as his former sensei you must be the one to make the hard choices. Not to mention Sasuke needs to know as well. Naruto must be brought down, and though it pains me to say this but Sasuke is the only one with the power to bring him down. And let's not forget that both he and Naruto never did get the chance to settle things. I'm sure he won't pass up the chance to face Naruto. In fact, I'm sure he'll be thrilled." Said Shikamaru. Kakashi knew he was right, the only one with the power to go head to head with Naruto is Sasuke. Though the last he heard from him was he still on his journey for redemption. But will he be willing to help them against Naruto? The one person in the entire village who never gave up on him no matter what other people said about him?
'I guess there's only one way to find out, I suppose.' Thought Kakashi as he quickly wrote a letter. He then summoned his most trusted ninken, Pakkun.
"Yo, it's been awhile." Said Pakkun.
"We'll save the pleasantries for later Pakkun. Right now, I need you to deliver a message to Sasuke as soon as possible." Said Kakashi.
"I'm guessing this is about Naruto. You still haven't found him, have you? Though I still think there's more to it than you think. But it's not my place to question the Hokage's decision. I'll deliver it to Sasuke as soon as possible. Though whether he helps you or not will be entirely up to him." Said Pakkun as he took the scroll and quickly left the room.
It had been a couple of months since he had left the village. He hadn't heard from Naruto or the Godiame Hokage in a while. Not even from Sakura. At first, he had thought nothing of it, in fact it was a relief for once. But then a month turned into a couple, until winter came that he became a little bit worried. There were rumors flying around about Kakashi Hatake becoming the Rokudiame Hokage. Though he didn't think much of it until a rumor spread, Uzumaki Naruto had assassinated the Godiame Hokage. Now that had caught his attention. He knew there was no way the idiot would commit something so heinous. Naruto consider Tsunade as family, and no matter how much he called her an old hag he would have never tried to kill her. It just wasn't in Naruto's nature, there had to be more to this story than people were letting on.
At least that was what he thought before he had received a message from his former sensei Hatake Kakashi. As he read the letter, he just couldn't believe it. The dead last of the class had been planning this for a while. He just couldn't believe it. At first, he was in denial refusing to believe his best friend who he considers as a brother in all, but blood would do something like this. But then again, it's Shikamaru who had found the evidence. And it wasn't like the guy to make mistakes. Especially if they are serious matters such as this.
'There has to be more to it than this. But then again Shikamaru isn't one to joke around with something like this. Damn it! The only one who could clear this up is Naruto. And he hasn't been seen in a while since his escape. I swear Naruto I'll find you and when I do, I'll get my answers from you. Even if I must beat it out of you. And if you have chosen to walk down this dark path. Then I swear to you that I'll stop you. Even if I must put an end to you myself.' Thought Sasuke as he quickly changed his direction back to Konoha. He was in turmoil with himself. On one half he believes there must have been foul play. But then on the other half, he was angry at himself for not staying in the village. If he would have stayed, then maybe none of this would be happening. He could have put a stop to this, settle their differences once and for all. But more importantly he was angry at Naruto for doing something so stupid. Naruto only had to wait a few more years before he would've been Hokage. Hell, he had it in the bag.
'Wait a minute. If Naruto truly wanted revenge against the village, he would have waited a few more years to become Hokage. Then his plans would have gone smoothly. Not to mention it was his life long dream. Naruto wouldn't have jeopardized his dream no matter what. There is something going on here.' Thought Sasuke.
A/N: Well I hope you enjoyed this chapter. And I know it's been a while since I updated but I've been busy with work. Haven't had much time to write this story. Not to mention the couple of months I had to go with out electricity. Now that was hell since it was during the summer. Barely got it back during the end of summer. And I'll be honest with you, I have been having writers block for this story. No matter how much I think about this story I always come up with nothing. And if I'm working on another story, I have no problem writing. Though don't worry, I'm not giving up on this story. Not by a long shot. Well then, here's a little something extra for the New year. Hope you like it. Oh, and one more thing don't forget to review.
Omake
It was the first New year festival in the village. Both humans and demons alike were excited and many for different reasons. And there was only one person in the village who was feeling very nervous for some reason. And for the life of him he didn't know why he was so nervous. He had checked the barrier a while ago and everything had been fine. He even added a bit more chakra to the seal for just in case. Everything was in order the food, entertainment and the guest's seating arrangements. So, why was he feeling like this?
'It must be my imagination.' Thought Naruto. Though for some reason Kurama was very amused. Like he was waiting for something to happen. But for what, he didn't know.
He was making his way towards the banquet when he noticed a group, a very large group of females both human and demon alike. Now, this had made him uneasy. For some reason or another whenever there was a large group of females such as this, things tended to get chaotic very fast. Not to mention many of them if not all of them have been striving for his attention and love. And he knew that Kenshin had something to do with this. But for right now, it will be best if he took the long route to the banquet less, he falls prey to the pack of females.
'I need to slowly make my way back with out them noticing me. If there is a god out there, please don't let them notice me. I beg you.' Thought/prayed Naruto.
'I don't think praying to the gods will help you Naruto.' said Kurama. As he sensed the females heading towards an unsuspecting Naruto from behind.
'Oh? Pray tell why it would be useless Kurama?' questioned Naruto. Though he was starting to feel dread for some strange reason.
'Because they didn't answer your prayers. And if I were you, I would shunshin out of here as soon as possible. But then again if you don't it'll be great entertainment on my part.' Said Kurama. Naruto was about to ask him on what he meant only for a squeal of Naruto-sama to pierce the night. And just like that he was surrounded by a horde of females. Naruto couldn't help but curse his luck and Kurama for not telling him on time.
He could hardly make out anything they were saying. Though there was one thing he did understand. They all wanted to be his date for the banquet. And each one of them were eager to kill one another for the chance to be his date. He really needed to get out of this situation and fast. He didn't plan on taking a date to the banquet and now his foolish mistake was biting him in the ass. Though there was one thing he didn't understand, and that was how in the name of the sage of the six paths did they find out?!
"Please Naruto-sama. Who would like to take to the banquet as your date?" asked almost all the females.
"Before I answer, may I know how you all came to know that I was looking for a date?" asked Naruto though he had a pretty good guess that the one behind this was none other than Kenshin.
"It was Kenshin-sama who informed us." They all answered simultaneously.
'I knew it!' Naruto yelled internally. Kurama was to busy laughing at his jinchuriki's expense.
"So, who do you choose to go with you to the banquet?"
"Um…well you see…I-"Naruto never got to finish his poor excuse as Miyu came to the rescue. Though to anyone else it would be more like her pouncing on her unsuspecting prey. And considering what she was about to do. They would be right.
"My apologies for interrupting, but Naruto-sama had already promised to take me to the banquet." Said Miyu as she elegantly walked to Naruto's side holding onto his arm. The rest of the females let out moans of disappointment. They all had taken there leave, leaving Naruto and Miyu alone. Naruto let out a sigh of relief.
"Thanks. You saved me back there. I owe you one Miyu-chan. So, if there's anything you need feel free to tell me." Said a cheerful Naruto. Though he quickly regretted it the moment he saw a glint in Miyu's eyes. He knew that glint anywhere.
"Anything?" Said Miyu seductively. Naruto felt a shiver run down his spine when she spoke.
"Y-yes?"
"Very well, but first you're taking me as your date to the banquet. Later we can discuss what I want in return for saving you from the horde of females." Said Miyu.
"Fine." Said a defeated Naruto. He knew not to argue with Miyu. After all, he would lose the argument. And that is how he spent the New year festival. With Miyu as his date and many of his council members finding his situation amusing. Especially when fending off Miyu's flirtatious attitude. Not to mention her many attempts of trying to mate with him. And then there's Kurama who was laughing at his expense through out the whole festivities. While Kenshin was next to him smirking the entire time. Naruto sent him a glare at his direction.
'One of these days Kenshin, I'll get you back.' Thought Naruto. Though as if hearing his thoughts Kenshin looked him in the eyes as he smirked.
"My lord, try not to give Tai a little sibling so soon." Said Kenshin. Naruto's face turned completely red. As everyone laughed at their lord's expense.
'Damn it, Kenshin! I'll get my revenge! You'll see!' yelled Naruto internally. As he could still hear the laughter of everyone who had heard Kenshin. Though he could clearly hear Kurama's laughter echo in his mind. It was going to be a long night.
