Enchanted Parchment
A long time coming... ~ SS19
It was nice not to be picking you up off the ground after a misadventure with a broomstick this time, my boy.
Thank you, I rather enjoyed not falling off it.
However, I must say Severus, spitting is a rather uncouth habit.
And your point, Headmaster?
Well. In terms of being a role model for good student behaviour, spitting on the ground after losing a Quidditch match, not particularly the best example.
If it had not escaped your notice, Headmaster, it was, in fact, Gryffindor and Hufflepuff who were playing. My House was not involved.
But if Hufflepuff had won that would have rather hampered Gryffindor's chances of winning the Quidditch Cup.
Your point, again?
Oh, nothing…
You seem to be suggesting I wished to referee to cheat to turn things to my advantage, which I am sure is a besmirch of my character. Deliberately interfering with the outcome of a competition - I would never do such a thing!
Really. But, alas…young Mr. Potter saw the Snitch with remarkable ease.
I saw you congratulate him.
Jealousy, Severus?
Favouritism, Headmaster, and one not going unnoticed.
Nonsense, my dear boy. The child is talented and needs encouragement. Also if we are to speak of favouritism, I believe that you volunteered to referee the game and place yourself on a broomstick to protect him…
Practicality, Headmaster, nothing more.
Were you sulking, was that why you chose not to come to dinner?
I went to the Forest and had a meeting with Quirrell. He remains…deflective.
You mean he is withstanding your efforts to force him to tell you that he is in league with Voldemort.
He is most definitely after the Stone; he did not deny it. When I am in his presence the symptoms increase, worse so in the forest where I do not have the protective charms of Hogwarts to minimise the effects. If he is not helping the Dark Lord, I cannot explain how those symptoms exist.
Severus…you know my feelings on this matter. Continue to investigate but be careful. Though I highly doubt Quirinus could possibly hold his own against you, we still need to protect you.
Most noble of you Headmaster but may I remind you I do not need protecting. I can more than handle myself and anything which may come my way.
Oh, I know, my boy, I know.
Potter suspects something.
And where is this coming from? Severus, you do know that you cannot accuse everyone in the school of some sort of secretive mission. Especially considering I can think of only one member of the staff who actively sneaks, skulks and glowers his way around the school.
He is nosy, a typical Gryffindor, and he is trying to eavesdrop – he wears his emotions on his sleeve, so he is easy to read.
I will remind you again that practising Legilimency on students Severus is rather against the rules…
Consider it a warning then, Headmaster, as you seem to want to protect him beyond all costs. He is trying to find out what I want with the Stone.
And what do you want with the Stone, Severus? Immortality?
I can imagine nothing worse. That would mean I would have to endure even more of you and your…
Brilliance?
I was going to say….'quirks'. In all seriousness though, Headmaster. The boy is too curious.
He is the Boy Who Lived, Severus. I take on board your thoughts, and I will continue to observe him, and as you seem so desperate for me to do so, I will protect him too. Just as I do you too, when you let me.
Indeed. Now if you don't mind, I am going to return to being the Teacher Who Skulked, as clearly I have a reputation to uphold.
