Hello, everyone! 087-B here once again with Chapter 15 of Gravity Falls: Sinnoh Adventure! In the last chapter, Dipper and Soos caught new Pokemon, while Mabel awoke inside her mind on a mysterious island, where she is attacked and captured by the mysterious shadow… what is her fate?! Oh, and the bag worm bush Pokemon is following Dipper and Soos… coincidence? I think not…
Anyway, this chapter had a gap in writing periods, so some of the plot might be off a bit.
Now, on with the show!
Chapter 15: The Mysterious Darkrai
Mabel somehow managed to escape the shadowy figures grasp. She then dashed into the mass of trees, not knowing where to go, but somehow, she made it out of the trees and back to the ship. The shadowy figure was following close behind, and Mabel had to act fast. Without thinking or hesitating, Mabel bolted forward onto the abandoned cruise ship, hoping to hide from the mysterious entity that was following her.
Upon entering, the inside area of the cruise ship had cracked and broken walls, as well as shattered glass and doors ripped off of their hinges. A set of stairs was the only real place to go, so she ran toward them. Up the stairs was the outer deck of the cruise liner. A door to a room sat in the middle, and as Mabel opened it, she saw the captain, struggling in a corner. He was bleeding heavily and had cut marks all across his forehead and throat, as if he was trying to commit suicide.
"Sir! I need help!" Mabel said, worried that the shadowy figure was behind her. The captain looked up at her.
"Help me…" The captain slowly stuttered before his eyes vanished and his body disintegrated. Somehow, he was dead. All that remained of his existence was a small pile of blood that quickly evaporated.
"Oh god…" Mabel grasped her stomach as she vomited all over the cracked wooden floor. She wiped the vomit from her face on her sleeve and tried to activate the ship and sail away, but the power was dead. She was stuck. As she turned around, the mysterious shadowy figure was blocking the entrance, preventing her from escaping.
All Mabel could do was wait.
-{Dipper and Soos}-
It had been about three hours, and Mabel didn't show up anywhere. Dipper and Soos had started asking people around, but nobody saw signs of "a girl with a sparkly yellow sweater and a purple bow". They had pretty much given up hope in finding her, until they noticed a strange looking man, a tall one at that. Dressed in an overcoat, the man was clutching a box… a small package, one with a letter attached and a small stamp with an address on it. The man walked down the street quickly, avoiding eye contact with everyone around him. He brushed past Dipper and Soos, and in a split second, Dipper noticed something very out of place on the man. When the man walked by, a part of his coat brushed on Dipper's arm. It was smooth, but it got rough very quickly. Dipper looked at his arm. It had small fragments of glitter on it. Purple, pink, and white fragments of glitter that sparkled in the sunlight. Glitter that would go good on a piece of clothing.
Glitter that would go good with Mabel.
Dipper slowly turned to look at the man. He had already walked off to the West exit of town toward Mt. Coronet.
"Soos…" Dipper began. Soos, who had been distracted by the bird Pokemon in the sky, quickly snapped back to reality and turned towards Dipper.
"Yeah, dude?" Dipper looked up at Soos.
"That man… he had glitter on his coat…" Dipper stared back at the man once more. "…the kind of glitter that would go on Mabel's clothes." Without waiting for a response from Soos, Dipper bolted off toward the man and tackled him. The man fell over in surprise, and the parcel went flying into the street. The man pushed Dipper off and got to his knees.
"What the hell is your problem, kid?!" The man angrily faced Dipper. Dipper had an angered look on his face, as a crowd of people turned to see the two individuals.
"What did you do with my sister?!" Dipper yelled, grabbing the man by the collar and yanking him up. "Answer me!"
"What are you talking about?!" The man said, pushing Dipper away once more. "You must have me confused with someone else. I have no time for this." He got up and walked toward the unmoving parcel. Dipper got up as well.
"You have glitter on your coat! Glitter from my sister's sweater!" Dipper yelled. He tackled the man again. They continued fighting until someone walked over to the parcel and picked it up. The two stopped fighting to see who had found the parcel.
"Wendy!" Dipper exclaimed. While he was distracted, the man pushed him off.
Wendy held the parcel firmly. "I know where Mabel is."
"What? Where? How?!" Dipper, now standing up, bombarded Wendy with all these questions that he would soon get the answer too.
"Soos, call the cops." Wendy said. "This man is bad news."
"You know this freak?" Soos asked.
"No, but I can sense that he's bad." Wendy answered. As Soos grabbed a landline, she turned to Dipper. "Follow me."
Wendy led Dipper to the South-East part of the town, toward the dilapidated building that Mabel's Pokemon had led he and Soos to earlier. Wendy set the parcel down and began prying at the boards covering the door, tearing them off one by one. She kicked open the door, and Mabel lay unconscious on the bed inside.
"MABEL!" Dipper ran over to Mabel's unconscious body. "What happened?!"
"That man must've done something to her." Wendy answered. "Let's get her to the Pokemon Center."
:::::
Dipper set Mabel down on the bed inside their room. She seemed so peaceful asleep, as if she was dead… Dipper shook those thoughts out of his mind. Mabel couldn't have died…
"I'll stay here and look after her." Wendy said. "Meanwhile, this was addressed to you." She handed Dipper the parcel that had seemingly taken forever to get to him. He opened it and found the note and key.
"What's this for?" Dipper asked.
"Beats me." Wendy shrugged. "Me and Robbie found it outside the door to our room a few days ago, we forgot about it until now."
"Huh…" Dipper heard groaning. He and Wendy looked out the window.
They both saw the strange man on the ground being beaten in by the police with their batons, Soos standing nearby and watching. The man groaned in pain, yelping in agony with each blow landing on his legs and back. A small pool of blood began to form in the spot he lay as the officers grabbed his arms, lifted him up, and threw him in the back of a police car nearby, driving off toward the police station, wherever it was.
"Dang…" Wendy said. "Wonder what jail is like in the Sinnoh Region."
"Probably unforgiving." Dipper said.
"Kinda like the forgotten package." Wendy said. They both chuckled.
-{Mabel's Mind}-
Mabel felt something appear in her right hand. She raised her hand, and a Pokeball rested in her palm. It was… light in weight. Usually her Pokeballs containing her Pokemon were heavy, and the empty ones were lighter than this one… what was inside? She tossed it, and inside was the bush-like bagworm Pokemon that had followed Dipper and Soos.
"Burmy!" It said.
"What the…?" Mabel was confused. When did she catch this? "Wait a second…" Her Pokedex appeared in her left hand. She identified the Pokemon.
Burmy, the Bagworm Pokemon
Bug Type
Ability: Shed Skin
Even if it is born where there are no cocooning materials, it somehow always ends up with a cloak.
Mabel looked at Burmy. It seemed like it wanted to battle Darkrai, but could it win…?
"Wait, what's this Pokemon?" Mabel pointed her Pokedex at Darkrai.
Darkrai, the Pitch-Black Pokemon
Dark Type
Ability: Bad Dreams
To protect itself, it afflicts those around it with nightmares. However, it means no harm.
"Darkrai…?" Mabel wondered what this Pokemon was doing in her mind. "I can't believe I'm trying this…" She stood up and put a look of determination on her face. "Burmy, use Bullet Seed!" Burmy shot out multiple little seeds from its mouth. Darkrai shifted to the side to dodge.
"Again!" Burmy used Bullet Seed once more, but Darkrai dodged again.
"Again!" The same process went on for a little bit before Darkrai managed to get close enough to attack directly. It began to launch a Shadow Ball attack.
"Burmy, use Protect!" Burmy coated itself in a glowing blue cube. The Shadow Ball hit the cube and both the cube and the attack dissipated at the same time.
"Quick, Bullet Seed!" Burmy launched another Bullet Seed attack toward Darkrai, landing a successful blow on it with every seed. As Darkrai took damage, however, the whole world that it, Burmy, and Mabel were in began to shake, as if it was starting to fall apart.
"That must be the key to getting out of here…" Mabel said to herself. "And since Bug-Types overpower Dark-Types…" She smiled a determined smile. "Burmy, use Bug Bite!"
Burmy latched itself on to Darkrai and began biting it hard in rapid succession. Darkrai winced as the world crumbled more. Burmy continued the attack as the sky faded away into darkness. Darkrai was weakened.
"Finish it off, Burmy! Use Bug Bite one more time!" Burmy was about to bite Darkrai again, before it glowed white and began to change shape. Mabel's eyes widened.
"It's… evolving?! This early?!" Burmy's shape changed into that of a moth's shape, and when the white glow vanished from its body, it was now a yellow/orange moth with a black head, white/orange antennae, white hands and feet, and yellow orange-tipped wings. Mabel smiled and activated her Pokedex.
Mothim, the Moth Pokemon
Bug/Flying Type
Ability: Swarm
While it loves floral honey, it won't gather any itself. Instead, it plots to steal some from Combee.
"Alright! Mothim, use Gust!" Mothim launched multiple small whirlwinds of air at Darkrai, damaging it and putting it off balance.
"Now, finish Darkrai off with one final Bug Bite attack!" Mabel shouted. Mothim latched itself onto Darkrai and bit hard into it. The world shook fiercely one last time before it was engulfed it a bright white light…
:::::
Mabel's eyes slowly opened. She turned her head to see where she was. It was a room in the Pokemon Center. Her bed in her room. She lifted her head. Her Pokeballs containing her Pokemon were on the table nearby, as well as her Pokedex and backpack. Wendy was asleep in the chair near the door.
Mabel slowly climbed out of the bed and yawned. She felt like she was asleep for years. She walked over to Wendy and tugged on her arm. No response. She tugged again. No response still.
"Wendy, wake up!" Mabel pulled harder, and Wendy's eyes opened slowly.
"Mabel…? You're okay?" Wendy asked.
"What happened?" Mabel asked.
"Me and Dipper found you unconscious in an old building near the exit to this town." Wendy explained. "What were you doing there?"
"This man was there, he gave me some sort of drink." Mabel explained. "It tasted like crud, but it made me fall asleep, and then…" She shivered at the thought of Darkrai. "…this Pokemon called Darkrai appeared in my mind. It was like I was having some sort of terrible nightmare."
"Dang… did that man have a parcel with him?" Wendy asked.
"As I fell asleep, I saw the strange man grab the box for Dipper and take it away…" Mabel said.
"Dipper and Soos found him." Wendy explained. "Soos called the police and the man was arrested."
"And did Dipper get the package?" Mabel asked. Wendy smiled and nodded.
"Where's Dipper and Soos now?" Mabel asked.
"I dunno." Wendy shrugged. "I think they're talking with the police."
"…I wonder what's with that key in the box." Mabel said. "It's so… mysterious…" She smiled. "Looks like a job for the mystery twins!"
"Maybe now you can challenge the gym leader now that all this madness is over." Wendy said.
"Yeah, you're right." Mabel agreed. "I'll see you around." Then, she left the room.
As she left the Pokemon Center, Mabel thought about Darkrai… what happened in her mind with it? Why did it happen? Would she ever see that strange man again?
"No matter…" She said to herself. "I've got a new teammate… somehow, and I'm ready to challenge the gym." She walked off toward the gym, filled with confidence and determination.
:::::
The strange man sat within his jail cell, filled with the sense of failure. The girl escaped the nightmare, the package was in the boys grasp, and Darkrai was defeated.
"I will break out and get revenge." The man said to himself. He grinned. "And Canalave City seems like the perfect place to do so."
