This is it. The chapter many of you have been waiting for! The poll results are in...and will I let you guys see them?

Nope! :D

The poll results are for my eyes only! Sorry not sorry, nobody's gonna take the chance to see the results and automatically assume the outcome of this chapter.

But anyways, here it is; the second battle between Dipper and Mabel! A highly anticipated rematch, I'm guessing, which twin will become victorious? For those who do not know or remember, way back in the first chapter (not the prologue), Dipper and Mabel battled (albeit a poorly written one :( ) and Dipper was the winner. Now, with stronger teams, complex strategies, and an improved author, what will this battle entail?

I shall also say that, aside from the battle at hand, a few big, key plot details will surface in this chapter...and even the appearance of a new character! Will it be an OC? No, dear god no

But anyways, I hope you all enjoy this long awaited chapter!

Now, on with the show!

PS: Don't like the chapter title? Don't care much, then, this one is a hell of a lot more intriguing and eye catching than 'Dipper VS Mabel II'...

-Chapter 25: The Second Clash Between Fire And Grass-

The battle began with the twins sending out their first two catches; Dipper with Staravia, and Mabel with Bibarel.

"Mabel, I'm feeling quite generous today." Dipper crossed his arms, smirking. "If you'd like, you may have the first-"

Dipper couldn't even finished his sentence as Mabel blurted out a quick command, her Bibarel rushing at her brother's Staravia, catching the shimmering bird Pokemon off guard and ramming into it with a strong Headbutt attack. It flew backwards, falling to the ground in front of its trainer before regaining its composure and preparing itself for further combat.

The baseball capped boy's eyes widened, though he dropped the expression and quickly became serious. "So, that's how it's gonna be, eh? Fine by me; Staravia, Aerial Ace!"

Staravia darted forward and pierced Bibarel's defenses, landing a critical blow on it. Bibarel stood its ground, trying to resist the oncoming bird, though it's endurance gave in and it flew back into a lamp post.

"Ah! Bibarel, are you okay?" Mabel sprinted over to her Pokemon and knelt by it, helping it get to its feet. "Come on! We've got a battle to win! Go, Water Gun!"

Mabel leaped forward with Bibarel, her Pokemon launching out a strong stream of water from its muzzle, going straight for the opposing avian.

Dipper smirked and adjusted his hat. "Mabel, this is easily avoidable. Staravia! Dodge upwards!"

His Staravia soared above the water stream, keeping away from it.

"Yes, this is going perfect- Huh?" Dipper snapped out of his momentary thought-to-speech process and watched Mabel forcefully and determinately command her Pokemon.

"Attack it head on with False Swipe!"

Bibarel's claws began to glow as it leaped into the air towards the clueless Staravia.

"No! The water gun was a distraction..." Dipper furrowed his gaze, watching his partner intently. "Staravia, get out of there! Hurry!"

But the response came a second too late as Bibarel spiked Staravia to the ground with a large slash of the claws, the avian falling to the street like a meteor. It let out a cry of pain as it crashed hard, creating a pile of dust.

"Aw yeah, awesome!" Mabel pumped her fists in the air and ran over to hug her Pokemon, smiling. "We so have this battle in the bag!"

"Not so fast!" Mabel and Bibarel looked over at Dipper, who had been grinning. He forced his hand outwards. "Quick Attack!"

Out from the slowly clearing dust came Staravia, still hanging on with little energy, as it rapidly zoomed around, confusing Bibarel and making space between it and it's trainer, before zooming towards a blind spot, knocking it around multiple times before sending it into the air with one forceful hit.

"Land the decisive blow! Aerial Ace!"

Bibarel fidgeted around, surprised and worried, while suspended in the air momentarily, before it began to fall. It could sense the bird Pokemon approaching from somewhere behind it, maybe even underneath it.

"N-No! Endure it, Bibarel! Come on!" Mabel pleaded, but her pleas were of no use, as the connecting blow resulted in Bibarel falling unconscious before it could even hit the ground. Mabel gasped and ran over to her Pokemon, picking it up and holding it close. "Aw, you did awesome out there. Get some rest."

She smiled and kissed her unconscious Pokemon's forehead before returning it to its Pokeball. She walked back over to the main battlefield and proceeded to call out another of her team members. "Mothim! Go!"

Out from the ball came the familiar orange and yellow moth Pokemon Mabel had only very recently caught.

"Mothim?" Dipper questioned, somewhat surprised at his sister's choice. "Mabel, must I remind you that Staravia has the advantage over Mothim?"

"Heya, bro bro, don't underestimate Mabel Pines; Pokemon Regional Champion in the making!" Mabel winked, then smirked. "I know what I'm doing!"

But in her head, she didn't know what she was doing, or what to do next.

C'mon, just have...some miracle happen? Yeah! Like...a stray attack from a bystander's Pokemon maybe?

Staravia, though critically weakened, was still ready to do battle, and Dipper wasn't planning on switching out anytime soon.

Mabel was wedged into a corner.

Meanwhile, from the sidelines, everyone eagerly watched, waiting for the next move. Wendy kept shifting around in her seat, feeling very uncomfortable.

"Wendy, you okay?" Soos asked.

"Yeah, I'm fine, it's just..." Wendy paused and shivered. "Something feels...weird."

"Weird?"

"Yeah, like...I dunno, just...wait..." Wendy reached into her pocket and pulled out a Pokeball covered in frost, it kept shaking and sent occasional sparks into her wrist. "So this was what made me feel weird."

"Whoa, what's in that thing?" Soos pointed at the ball.

"It's...it's my Rotom." Wendy answered. "You see, it's been acting weird ever since-"

Then, the ball leaped up from Wendy's hand, vibrating violently, sparks and frost particles flying everywhere from it.

"Uh, Wendy?" Grenda asked.

"What's wrong with that ball?" Pacifica asked.

"I-I don't know!" Wendy tried grabbing for the ball, though it just shocked her painfully whenever she made contact.

Then, it popped open, and out came Rotom, though this time, in the shape of a large orange refrigerator. Frost and sparks were radiating off of it's smooth, plasmatic figure. It fidgeted and spazzed around inconsistently and uncontrollably.

"Ack! Rotom!" Wendy's eyes widened as she grabbed the cold Pokeball and made an attempt to recall her Pokemon. "G-Get back in the ball!"

The Pokemon disobeyed her orders and leaped onto the battlefield, shocking the twins.

"WHOA!" Dipper was taken aback. "W-What...what Pokemon is THAT?!"

"Is that a...a refrigerator?!" Mabel asked.

"Rotom!" Wendy shouted angrily. "Get back in the ball!" She continuously tried to reclaim her Pokemon, but it kept leaping around, avoiding the return lasers being fired from the Pokeball.

"Wait- that's ROTOM?!" Dipper looked in awe and shock. "It...it can change forms?!"

Then, Rotom leaped into the air and shot out a variety of bolts of electricity and beams of ice, spreading across the battlefield and soaring through the sky in many directions.

"W-What's it doing?!" Dipper, Mabel, Wendy, and everyone else simply watched in fear as Rotom continued its sporadic outbursts of attacks.

Meanwhile, the two Pokemon on the battlefield other than Rotom were having a tough time maneuvering around the sky, trying to get back to their trainers, though unable to with having to dodge the attacks.

Then, one final beam of ice shot towards Staravia, striking the avian down.

It crashed into the ground.

As the attacks stopped, Mothim flew over to Mabel and landed on her head. Rotom returned itself back into its Pokeball, leaving the entire group stunned and in silence.

Dipper ran over to where his Pokemon had landed, finding it unconscious. "What the- Hey! I call interference!"

"What? Interference?!" Wendy glared. "It wasn't my fault Rotom decided to go insane!"

"Well then how do you explain this?!" Dipper shouted as he recalled his Staravia, whom tiredly returned into its Pokeball. "It suddenly changes forms and starts attacking out of nowhere! What's up with that?!"

"Uh, Dipper..." Mabel chimed in.

Dipper looked at her. "Huh?"

Mabel looked at her brother as she took Mothim off of her head. "Can we continue battling?"

"Oh...um...yeah, right." Dipper withdrew another Pokeball and threw it out into the battlefield. "Go Combee!"

Out came the energetic honeycomb-like bee Pokemon, smiling as it was ready for battle.

"Combee?" Mabel asked. "Why not Monferno? If you had sent him out, you would've won already."

"I like to give myself a decent challenge, sister." Dipper smirked and adjusted his hat. "Besides, where would the fun be in taking you out quickly? I intend to win a fair fight, you know."

"Well you ain't winning this one, buster!" Mabel said. "Mothim, use Confusion!"

"Let's go, Valentino, up and at 'em."

Robbie blocked his eyes with his cuffed hands as he was brought out into the sunlight, standing within the courtyard of whatever prison he had been brought to. He didn't know what city he was in, but frankly, he didn't care.

"No roughhousing with anyone, and don't kill people with your Pokemon." A police officer said. "It's a privilege to have them back. Don't lose it."

Robbie walked into the courtyard, keeping a monotone expression and refraining from eye contact with anyone. He walked across the grass and sat on a bench, keeping his back turned as he knew many other incarcerated criminals were eyeing him suspiciously.

He ignored everyone, and simply allowed his Poochyena out of its Pokeball so he could have some comfort. It rested on his lap, curled up.

For once, in a long while, Robbie smiled.

"Hey."

Robbie's smile faded. He simply continued petting the head of his Pokemon.

"I said hey." The voice pestered. "What that means is 'I'm talking to you'."

Still, Robbie ignored the petty foreign lawbreaker behind him.

"I said hey!" The prisoner angrily whipped Robbie around to face him. "What'd you get in for?"

"..." Robbie remained silent. "Beatin' the shit out of a kid. What's it to you?"

The prisoner's glare hardened, though he looked down at the sleeping Poochyena. "...nice Dark-Type."

"...yeah, thanks." Robbie muttered. "Can I have some alone time to think, maybe-"

"Ya beat up an annoying kid cause he was a better trainer than you, I'm guessin'."

Robbie winced. The man was right. Jealousy and hatred took over his neutral state and he simple attacked his rival.

"...you could say that."

"That's exactly what happened, ain't it?" The prisoner grabbed Poochyena by its neck scruff, startling it awake. It growled and squirmed as it was held by an unknown human.

"What the- Hey! Give him back!" Robbie angrily lunged for his Pokemon, though the inmate dodged and let the somewhat scrawny teen crash onto the grass.

"You gotta train this little mutt." He threw Poochyena at his trainer, the little dog Pokemon tumbling to the ground alongside Robbie.

Robbie pulled himself off the ground, picking up his Poochyena in the process. "I've been training a lot, but it hasn't been enough..."

The inmate grinned. "Tell ya what. You lemme train that dog of yours for ya, and I'll get you out of here early."

"I'm not breaking out of prison. That's not right." Robbie glared.

"I ain't takin' bout breaking out, I'm talkin' bout an early end to your sentence."

Robbie remained quiet.

Without an answer, he solemnly handed his Pokemon over to the prisoner, his Poochyena whimpering in confusion.

With one last sad gaze, Robbie sat back down and looked into the horizon.

"...do what you have to do."

The second round of the battle ended in a tie, with both Combee and Mothim being knocked out at the same time, and the third round had come to an end with Mabel knocking out Dipper's Magikarp with her Grotle.

Now, it was time.

One side fire, one side grass.

The victor would be decided upon this final round.

Dipper with his Monferno, Mabel and her Grotle.

"This is it." Dipper said. "This is the decisive match!"

"Then let's give it our all!" Mabel said. "Grotle, use Withdraw to boost your defense!"

Grotle obeyed, rolling into a secluded blue spherical casing before unrolling. It glowed blue momentarily, indicating a successful stat boost.

"Mabes, don't forget my advantage." Dipper smirked. "Monferno! Attack head on with Mach Punch!"

Monferno complied and dashed forward, charging up a strong Mach Punch attack with its dominant right fist.

"Grotle! Intercept with a bite!" Mabel commanded. Grotle stood its ground and opened its mouth. Monderno's fist flew towards it, and it bit down hardly, stopping the attack and making the fiery monkey shriek in pain.

"Gah! Monferno, Ember it and get away!" Dipper commanded, albeit much more panicked. He needed to be careful, one slip up would cost him the battle, advantage or no advantage.

Monferno spat out bits of flames at Grotle. The intensity of the heat and the close range made Grotle growl and cry out in pain, letting go of Monferno and back away, shaking its head around.

"Yes! Now follow up with Flame Wheel!" Dipper smiled with determination as he forced his hand out somewhat overdramatically. "We've got this in the bag!"

The burnt orange monkey curled up into a ball before it was engulfed in flames. It rolled almost as fast as a certain famed hedgehog towards Grotle, ramming into the unsuspecting turtle with force. The attack's connection caused Monferno to leap back as Grotle was sent flying into Mabel.

"Oof!" Mabel grunted and fell to the street as her Grotle slammed into her.

Dipper gasped slightly. "Mabel! Are you okay?"

"Y-Yeah, I'm fine..." Came his sister's response.

"...sorry you had to lose on such a painful note-"

"Who said I lost?" Mabel smirked as she got up, crossing her arms, along with her Grotle, who was still conscious as it slowly, though weakly, walked back into the battle area.

"W-What?! B-But, but..." Dipper stuttered.

"Ah, no buts, mister!" Mabel teased.

"That was a critical hit, and the STAB bonus, high attack power, and type advantage should've factored in!" Dipper calculated.

"Stab bonus? I didn't see anything sharp...unless-" Mabel gasped and checked her Pokemon for any cut marks or stab wounds, petting Grotle carefully.

Dipper face-palmed. "No, not stab, S-T-A-B. Same-Type-Attack-Bonus!"

"Oh! Yeah, uh...right, hehe." Mabel blushed and walked back to her side of the battlefield, rubbing the back of her head in slight embarrassment.

She quickly, however, regained her confidently quirky composure. "Come on! Both of our starters are in critical condition! The next move decides the match!"

"Ya got that right!" Dipper pointed forwards. "Monferno! Flame Wheel!"

Mabel followed suite. "Grotle! Headbutt!"

The two Pokemon sprinted towards each other, Monferno rolling into a flame-coated ball as t ran, and Grotle's forehead glowing brightly.

Then the attacks connected.

There was a large explosion of smoke and dust that was so strong, it even knocked the trainers over.

Nobody could see anything.

Then Grotle emerged from the clouds slowly.

It cautiously walked over to Mabel and nudged her leg.

"Is that it...?" Wendy asked.

"Did Mabel win?" Soos asked.

Mabel stood back up and looked around the dusty cloud filled area. "...was that it? Did I...did we win-"

"Think again!"

Monferno leaped out of the clouds of dust, wielding a flaming fist. Mabel and her Grotle stared, shocked. The fiery monkey smiled and prepared to attack the grass turtle.

"G-Grotle, move out of the way!"

Mabel's command came too late as the Fire Punch attack connected, sending Grotle tumbling across the streets before it slammed into a tree. He slumped over and remained still.

The surprise attack had knocked it out.

Mabel walked over and smiled.

"You did awesome Grotle. Get a nice, long rest." She recalled her Pokemon after giving it a big hug. Then she walked over to Dipper, the boy recalling Monferno. They both looked at each other neutrally, before Mabel closed her eyes and smiled.

"It's weird...ya know?"

"...no, I don't." Dipper wasn't following.

"It feels...like the first day of our journey, all over again." Mabel said. She opened her eyes again.

Dipper was smiling as well. "Yeah...it kinda does."

"Yeah! Way to go, Dipper!"

"You rock, dude!"

The group gathered around the twins and congratulated them both. Dipper and Mabel both laughed, happy to have a fun battle-

Someone was clapping slowly, walking towards them.

The group stopped cheering, and everyone turned to see someone in front of them. He couldn't have been older than 20, and he wore a blue sweater vest, along with a white scarf and baggy blue jeans. On his head was a maroonish colored beret.

"My my, what an amazing battle!" The man clapped more. "I haven't seen a battle so full of energy in a long time!"

"Um, who...who are you?" Mabel asked.

"Huh? Me?" The man grinned. "The name's Lucas, The Sinnoh League Regional Champion!"

-(End Of Chapter)-

So there you have it! Dipper Pines, crowned victorious!

The poll votes were mostly in favor of Dipper winning which...honestly surprised me.

I was planning on just disregarding the poll and making Mabel win, which would have opened up a brilliant new mini-story arc, but nah, better to give you guys what you want. :)

Also, no, this Lucas character is not an OC. If you want to know who he is (if you don't know already), he's the defaultly named main male protagonist from Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, though dressed in his Platinum attire.

If you're asking why I added him in, it was to open the story to be more unique and diverse since it's mostly just about the Gravity Falls characters. Don't worry, if you don't like this idea, he won't be a permanent group member...

...I should make another poll about that! Yeah, I'll do just that! You guys can vote how long you want to see Lucas travel with the group! I won't be including an option that is the entire journey, however. If you want him to stick around for the whole ride, then, well...too bad?

Updates will be more frequent...hopefully!

And I hope you- Wait! The cipher!
