Okay...it has been WAY too long once again.

Hey everyone, 087-B here, finally bringing you the latest chapter of Gravity Falls: Sinnoh Adventure! Sorry this took so long, but considering the rapid updates of my other story, "A New Day", which is now complete finally, you can understand, right? Heh, sorry for being away…

Buuuut enough about that! You're here for some Gravity Falls and Pokemon action! I'll try and provide multiple chapters before summer ends and I have to get to work on school, but we'll have to wait and see!

In the previous chapter, the group left Solaceon Town and began their quest to Veilstone City. After splitting off into two small groups to traverse the infamous, ever so rainy route known as Route 215, their destination now lies a hop, skip, and a jump away! What will happen on their quest to reach the overly mentioned city?

Read to find out!

Now, on with the show!

-Chapter 32: Road to Veilstone - Part II-

With the group temporarily split apart on their way to Veilstone City, everyone was having their own experiences travelling along the constantly rainy route of Route 215. Clothes were drenched, roads were muddied, and grass was overly grown in some sections. It was a well known route in Sinnoh for being the tough, final trial before reaching Veilstone City, and for the two groups traveling through it, the route was proving such a thing true. Group A was traversing the northern half of the route, where numerous mud puddles had formed, and the rocky walls that stretched up to small peaks were slathered in the slippery surface, preventing any travelling trainer from scaling it to reach the higher ground.

Mabel giggled as she hopped onto the back of her Grotle, sliding down one of the rocky walls on its back and cheering as it slowed to a stop before it could crash into the thicket of trees below. "Yeah! That was awesome! Let's do it again!"

Pacifica carefully slid down on her boots, stumbling a bit once she reached the bottom. She shivered after regaining her footing, ducking under a nearby tree for at least a little shield from the cold, relentless downpour. "Doing it again would require going back around and taking the path from the beginning. We have to keep going forward."

Mabel stuck her tongue out at Pacifica. "Fine! I can handle it!"

Before the blond could protest, Mabel was already riding off and around a corner to the start of the route. She sighed. "Welp, there she goes…"

Candy and Grenda slid down next, followed by Lazy Susan. Candy adjusted her glasses, wiping some rain from the lens. "Where did Mabel go?"

"She wanted to ride the slope again, so we're waiting for her I guess." Pacifica shrugged. "I can't wait to get to Veilstone City."

"Why? Just to get out of the rain?" Grenda asked.

"Not just that, I actually want to go to the city, for more than just the badge!"

"Is the city pretty and fashionable?" Susan asked.

"Part of it! For being a grimy, scummy place, it's got the best place to shop in all of Sinnoh, the Veilstone Department Store!" The blond swooned at the thought of all the region exclusive clothing she'd be able to buy. "It's basically the only pristine part of the town, everything else is fairly crappy."

"The slums of Sinnoh...only the strongest can survive!" Grenda puffed out her chest to strengthen her point.

Candy chuckled and stepped underneath the trees. "I believe the Veilstone City Gym uses Fighting-Type Pokemon, correct?"

"Yeah." Pacifica sighed. "The only Pokemon I have who can really stand a chance in that gym is Staravia, and if she gets knocked out…"

"Maybe catch something on the way there to use during the battle?" Susan suggested. "What's good against Fighting-Type? Maybe another Fighting-Type?"

"Nah, that wouldn't do much." Pacifica shook her head. "Normal-Type, Rock-Type, Steel-Type, Ice-Type, and Dark-Type are the only things that Fighting is super effective against. Everything else either resists it, or takes normal damage...Ghost-Type though, that completely nullifies it. A Ghost-Type Pokemon could come in handy."

"My Magneton will not do very good in that fight, then." Candy shook her head. "I may need to train the rest of my team around this area before taking on the gym."

"I'll have to make my Pokemon stronger too!" Grenda cheered.

Lazy Susan chuckled. "Oh, this is so exciting to talk about! I can't wait to watch you kids fight it out!"

Before anyone else could respond, a loud "Wahoooo!" sounded nearby. Grenda and Susan ducked under the trees, and the four watched as Mabel came down the slope on her Grotle once again, giggle and cheering as she did. Once Grotle slowed to a complete stop, the girl hopped off of her starter Pokemon and called it back into its Pokeball.

"Alright, now that you're back, can we get going?" Pacifica shivered again. "I just wanna get out of this rain before I catch cold, and it destroys my clothes."

"Of course!" Mabel pointed down a path. "Onward, march!"

Mabel, Pacifica, Candy, Grenda, and Lazy Susan continued down the route, soon entering a wide open grassy area, surrounded by trees, with the path continuing ahead of them. The small clearing had thick shade around the trees, the unshaded glass glistening with rain droplets, while the shaded grass looked dull and dry.

"Maybe we can take a moment to rest here? We can sit under those trees." Candy said.

"Yeah, my legs are tired…" Grenda groaned.

Pacficia sighed. "Alright, a quick break, but then we have to keep moving. Getting to Veilstone before the end of the day is something that can't wait."

Everyone nodded and took seats under the trees. Pacifica pulled out her map of the Sinnoh Region and glanced through it. The numerous towns they had left to visit made her sigh. They had an enormous region to cross, and they had only made a dent in their journey through it. And it didn't help that the Sinnoh Conference was starting in three months.

"Whatcha looking at, Pacifica?" Mabel asked, peering over the girl's shoulder to peek at the map.

"Nothing, just...wondering if we'll even be able to complete our journey in time for the Sinnoh Conference." Pacifica shrugged.

"Don't be silly, of course we will!"

"Are you sure?" Pacifica raised an eyebrow. "I mean, look at how huge Sinnoh is...and we're only right here." She pointed to a small bridge of land between Mt. Coronet and Veilstone City.

"So? It'll be fun! The more to explore, the longer our journeys!" Mabel cheered.

"I...guess." Pacifica said. "...you know, we've been talking about Veilstone so much, we've been acting like it's the final stop on our journey."

"Oh yeah, what's the gym after Veilstone again?" Grenda asked.

"It's in Pastoria City and it's a Water-Type gym." Pacifica answered. "Mabel, Candy, you two will do wonders over there."

"Heck yeah we will!" Mabel pumped her fists in the air.

"We will be the best!" Candy cheered.

"Heh…" Pacifica chuckled slightly before folding up the map and placing it back in her pocket.

Mabel frowned. "Pacifica? What's wrong?"

Pacifica turned away. "...I've...been thinking about my Combusken lately. I miss her, I regret releasing her out into the wild. I...I wish I could say sorry, wish I never even did it in the first place. Now...now I doubt I'll ever see her again…"

Mabel simply stared at her in silence before sighing. She stood up in front of the girl, getting soaked in the never ending rain. Before Pacifica could ask what she was doing, Mabel pulled something out of her pocket, tossed it in the air, and caught it, then extended it out toward the blond.

A Pokeball.

"Pacifica Northwest, I challenge you to a Pokemon battle!"

Pacifica blinked, wide eyed. She stared at the Pokeball in front of her, then at Mabel. She was about to question why she was asking for a battle now of all times, before something clicked in her head. The girl knew what Mabel was doing. She sighed and chuckled, before smirking and pulling out a Pokeball of her own.

"You're on."

The two positioned themselves at opposite ends of the clearing, not caring about the rain soaking them even further. All they wanted to do was battle, and after so long without battling each other, they both knew it would be a fun experience to see how their teams had improved.

"How many Pokemon?" Pacifica asked.

"Two, just so we don't take too long." Mabel replied. "Any Pokemon you choose, and it's viable!"

"Alright then!" Pacifica enlarged the Pokeball in her hand and threw it out. "Go! Furfrou!" The white canine popped out, landing on the damp grass with a snarl, ready for battle.

"I choose you, Bibarel!" Mabel threw out her Pokeball, calling on her beloved beaver Pokemon for battle. The large beaver popped out and landed on all fours on the grass, smiling with determination. "I'll let you make the first move, Pacifica!"

"Gladly!" Pacifica pointed. "Furfrou! Use Headbutt!"

The canine Pokemon did as it was told, charging forward across the grass at the idle Bibarel, ready to strike it down with its temple. Its speed heightened considerably as Furfrou dashed straight for its opponent. Mabel waited for the Furfrou to get close enough before smirking and shouting out her command.

"Bibarel! Counterattack with Hyper Fang!"

Bibarel opened its maw wide, its fangs glowing brightly and temporarily extending. It caught the attacking Pokemon in its mouth and bit down hard on its head, before swinging it around and throwing it from its mouth against a tree.

"Ah! Furfrou, are you okay?!" Pacifica called out in concern. The canine grunted as it got up, barking loyally as it scampered back over in front of its trainer. Pacifica smiled. "I don't plan on pushing you this fight, don't worry. Try another Headbutt, but this time, zig-zag around to avoid any counterattacks!"

Furfrou barked in response and dashed off towards Bibarel, making its movement pattern more jagged and frayed as it ran.

Mabel stepped back, worried and unsure of what to do. "Uh...Bibarel, t-try and counterattack again with another Hyper Fang!"

Bibarel's fangs extended once again, though the confused beaver Pokemon had a hard time keep its eyes locked on the zig-zagging dog. By the time it realized where the canine was, it was too late, and Furfrou rammed its head into the side of the beaver, sending it tumbling across the grassy ground.

"Oh no, Bibarel!" Mabel sprinted from where she stood, kneeling by her Pokemon. "Are you okay? Please be okay…!"

Bibarel smiled as it got to its feet, wobbling a bit, but still full of energy for fighting.

Mabel grinned and ran back to her position in the clearing. "Okay, Bibarel, use Defense Curl to raise your defense!"

The beaver curled into a ball, spinning in place and glowing a bright red for a moment, as a blue, transparent sphere momentarily engulfed it. It broke free and stood still once again, indicating a successful boost in its defense stat.

Pacifica raised an eyebrow. "What, are you just gonna stockpile defense boosts for the next five turns? You can't stall Mabel!"

Mabel smirked. "Your move!"

The girl's smirk made Pacifica slightly uneasy. She knew Mabel had something planned, but she had no idea what. "Furfrou, play it safe and use Bite!"

The poodle's fangs glowed as it sprinted forward, leaping into the air to take a bite out of the beaver and deal a plentiful amount of damage. However, upon making contact, the attack barely made Bibarel flinch, and with a smirk, the beaver swatted Furfrou off of its body with its tail, sending it back over to Pacifica.

The blond gasped. "H-Huh? That attack did nothing!"

"Exactly! It's Bibarel's ability activating!" Mabel crossed her arms. "Bibarel's ability is called Simple, and when it's used, it doubles the effects of any stat boosts! Defense Curl is much more useful than you'd expect!"

Pacifica blinked. Mabel was a far more skilled trainer than she had initially thought. She didn't expect her to know her Pokemon's abilities and be able to strategize flawlessly with them. She glared. "Alright then, we'll just have to attack where it counts! Furfrou, use Charge Beam!"

Furfrou obeyed and readied itself, body glowing yellow as it prepared a strong energy attack, a ball of light and electricity forming around its mouth before it shot out a fast beam at the beaver Pokemon.

Mabel's eyes widened. A super effective 'special' move that would surely hurt Bibarel a lot. "Bibarel, counter with Yawn!"

Bibarel charged forward, shooting a large pink bubble out of its mouth. The bubble circled around the Charge Beam attack and burst once it came into contact with Furfrou. The poodle Pokemon lost its focus and stopped the Charge Beam attack, though the remainder of the beam still struck Bibarel head on, sending it hurtling back into the ground near Mabel, creating a cloud of dirt and dust. When the dirt cleared, Bibarel lay unmoving. It had fainted.

Mabel sighed and smiled, kneeling by her Bibarel to pet it before recalling it into its Pokeball. "You did great, Bibarel. Get a good long rest, you've earned it."

Pacifica chuckled. "The battle's already intense, and we've only used one Pokemon each so far."

"Heh, yep." Mabel stood back up and smirked, taking out yet another Pokeball. "It's showtime, Grotle!" She threw out the Pokeball, calling on her beloved starter Pokemon. The large, Grass-Type turtle landed on the damp grass, roaring to the rain as it appeared from its Pokeball.

"Heh, think you can win it with only your starter left?" Pacifica chuckled. "Furfrou! Use Headbutt!"

The canine glared at Grotle, ready to charge forward, before it stumbled on the first step. Wobbling about, Furfrou's eyes closed as it collapsed onto the grass. It lightly snored where it lay, tail occasionally thumping against the muddy ground.

It had fallen asleep.

"Ack, no no no!" Pacifica grabbed her hair as her eyes widened. "I forgot that Yawn puts your Pokemon to sleep that fast…!"

Mabel smirked and pointed. "Grotle, take out that Furfrou with the strongest Return you can muster!"

Grotle's body glistened in the rain. It grunted in response, before charging forward and striking the sleeping Furfrou. The canine Pokemon briefly woke up before falling into unconsciousness once again, after it was sent flying and collided with the ground beside Pacifica. The blond quickly rushed to her Pokemon's side and recalled it into its Pokeball.

"Rest up, bud, you fought hard." She smiled. She took out another pokeball and clicked the button to enlarge it. "Welp, the final trial. Our last Pokemon against each other."

"I wonder who you'll pick, I'm actually really curious!" Mabel giggled.

'Alright...let's see…' Pacifica thought. 'The rain will make it hard for Staravia to fly, thus preventing her from executing attacks, and Feebas is weak to Grass-Type attacks! That leaves…'

"Come on, piiiiiiick!" Mabel rubbed the back of her head.

"Meet my new teammate!" Pacifica smirked and threw out her next Pokeball. "Go! Carbink!"

Out popped the round, crystalline Pokemon that Pacifica had caught before the group had left Hearthome City. Mabel's eyes widened and she grinned. "Whoa! I've never seen that Pokemon before!"

"It's one of the few exotic Pokemon that just so happens to have a page in the Sinnoh Pokedex." Pacifica explained. "Now Carbink! Use Toxic!"

Carbink glared fiercely at Grotle, a purple sphere enveloping the turtle. After a moment, it burst, leaving Grotle looking fairly weakened and out of shape. It stumbled a bit where it stood, trying to keep a stable footing on the muddy surface.

Mabel grunted. "Toxic...what...did that do?"

Pacifica rolled her eyes. "Toxic is a move that nearly any Pokemon can learn. It badly poisons the opposing Pokemon, so they periodically take damage and become weaker. Unlike normal poison, bad poisoning has a much stronger effect, and knocks a Pokemon out quicker."

"Oooh…" Mabel nodded. "...wait, crap! Quick Grotle, knock it out fast with a Razor Leaf!"

The turtle's legs wavered. With a grunt, Grotle shot out numerous fast, swirling leaves that pierced the body of Carbink, though the floating rock Pokemon seemed to be unscathed. Pacifica smirked as her Carbink took the attack resiliently.

"What?!" Mabel exclaimed. "But...it's a Rock-Type Pokemon, right?!"

"Rock-Type and Fairy-Type. It's a dual typing Pokemon." Pacifica said. "The extra Fairy-Type helps it resist its natural weakness against Grass-Types. Now Carbink, use Dazzling Gleam!"

Carbink's body shined brightly, a large ball of energy emitting from it and engulfing the two Pokemon. It soon exploded and faded, the trainers bracing themselves from the wind created as it tried to push them back. When everything cleared and faded, leaving no wind, and heavy rain, Grotle lay on the ground, struggling to stay up, before the poison kicked in and knocked it unconscious. It collapsed on the grass while Carbink stayed afloat.

Pacifica had won.

Mabel sighed and returned her Grotle into its Pokeball. "Awesome battle, buddy. I'll get you healed as soon as we're in Veilstone City."

Pacifica smiled and recalled her Carbink. "Awesome first battle, Carbink. You deserved that victory."

Mabel approached Pacifica and smiled, quickly hugging her and spinning her around. Pacifica yelped in surprise, stumbling a bit as Mabel twirled her around. She wobbled and chuckled when she finally stopped, rubbing her head.

"You did it, you won!" Mabel cheered, jumping up and down.

"Don't know why you're so excited but, ah well, heh." Pacifica chuckled. "Say, you know a lot about your Pokemon. How did you memorize their abilities so well?"

"Oh, I didn't." Mabel shook her head. "Candy told me everything!"

Pacifica blinked before snorting. "Pfft, figured. That makes way more sense."

The other three approached, congratulating the two girls.

"That was an awesome battle, guys!" Grenda clapped her hands.

"Yes, truly wonderful!" Candy cheered.

"Oh you two are just naturals!" Susan smiled.

Pacifica laughed a bit. "Shall we continue? We've got more people to meet!"

Everyone nodded, gathered their things, and continued on down the path. Happier than before, Group A continued towards their destination of Veilstone City, which was closer and closer with every step.

They were almost there.

-(End Of Chapter)-

To be continued!

Yeesh, been awhile since those two fought, right? Now, instead of a fearsome rival battle, Mabel and Pacifica have a somewhat friendlier one. Hasn't it been a good twenty-eight or so chapters since the last battle between these two? That was around the Jubilife arc!

God, I...really need more rival battles. Then again, I don't want too many, or else this story will turn into Pokemon Black and Pokemon White, featuring Gravity Falls.

Get it…? Cause...there were tons of rival battles in...oh nevermind.

Okay, time for another caesar cipher!

PHHW WKH D WHDP UHERRW, DOO JLUOV DQG NLFNLQJ DVV

As per usual, take a shot at solving it!

Anyways, I hope you have enjoyed this chapter, reviews are highly appreciated (let's shoot for 120!), and as always…
