Harley P.O.V.
May 25, 2018. Booker T. Washington High School. Afternoon.
My story starts out like any other school day. I was in my history class, learning about an explorer named Christopher Columbus. Christopher Columbus (who has no relation to the Hollywood director who directed the first two Home Alone and Harry Potter movies) was an explorer who had supposedly discovered America. That was false, as it was the Vikings who first discovered America in the 1000's. But nobody cares about the Vikings and what they contributed to American History.
"Christopher Columbus didn't discover America. He discovered Puerto Rico and its several islands." My history teacher was saying. I sighed in boredom. I'm sorry, let me introduce myself. My name is Harley Keener. I was 15 1/2 years old. This was the moment my whole life changed forever. The moment where half of my universe would crumble to dust. Today is May 25, 2018. A Friday. It was 2:30 P.M.
I was in my history classroom. The last period of the day. My class is learning about Christopher Columbus, a guy who supposedly discovered America. He didn't discover America. The Vikings discovered America in the 10th century. I listened to the teacher. I decided to look at my best friend, Freddy Jones. He has blood red hair. I always called him Freddy Krueger or Fred Flintstone because he is named after two pop culture icons. Freddy doesn't really like it when I call him those names. It's not my fault that he is named after a horror movie villain and a cartoon character. I looked at the girl behind Freddy. Her name is Lizzy. I don't like her. She hates me for some inexplicable reason. I don't know why. What I saw next would change my life forever.
The moment in which half of my world was gone in an instant. I saw Lizzy dissolve into dust before my eyes. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It was like something out of a science fiction movie. It wasn't just me who saw it. Everybody in the entire classroom saw it. We couldn't believe it. I ran out of Mr. Brown's classroom. Mr. Brown is my World History teacher. He is one of my male teachers that I have in my school. I ran to my locker. It had a combination lock. I entered the combination.
I opened my locker. All around me, students were turning into dust. It was chaos. I grabbed my camcorder out of my backpack. I decided to record this event. I opened up my camcorder and pushed the record button. I grabbed my backpack. I closed my locker. With my camcorder in hand, I ran down the steps to the first floor. I ran out of the door. I grabbed my skateboard, which was located on the side of the school. I got on my skateboard. I skateboarded towards my house.
Left and right, people were disintegrating right before my eyes. I continued to skateboard. I saw my house in the distance. I reached my house. I saw my mother sitting on the porch. I got off my skateboard and ran towards my mother. I hugged my mother. I then watched as my mother disintegrated right before my eyes. I screamed very loud. I have never screamed that loud since the time when I installed the Arc Reactor into my chest when I was 12. I ran up to my room. I cried for 3 hours. I turned my camcorder off.
3 hours later
I stopped crying. I turned on my camcorder. I opened the door to my room. I walked downstairs. I come downstairs to see my 11 year old sister Emily watching the news. I walked beside her. I saw the news report on TV. My jaw dropped. There was a male newscaster.
"This just in. Half the population of the Earth has mysteriously disappeared. We don't know exactly how this event occurred." the newscaster said.
I couldn't believe it. This is gotta to be a dream. I thought. I turned my camcorder off. I put it on a table. I ran to the bathroom. I locked the door behind me. I took off my shirt. I dunked water onto my head to see if I was dreaming. I felt the water. Meaning that this was no dream. I started to panic. My uncle an my aunt were the only family I knew. I had a father, but he ran away from me and my mom when I was 4 years old. He went to a gas station to get some scratch tickets.
Scratch tickets are these tickets in which you scratch a ticket to reveal a set of numbers. If you match a certain number to the winning number, you win "money". It sounds stupid, I know. My dad liked scratch tickets. He supposedly went to a gas station. I guess he won the scratch ticket, since he never came back for my mom and me. I decided to calm my nerves down by playing one of my favorite games from my childhood: Sly 2: Band of Thieves for the PlayStation 2. It used to be one of my favorite games. I haven't really played the Sly Cooper games a whole lot. I never really got into them. I personally thought that the Sly Cooper video games were boring.
I fired up my PlayStation 2 and put in my Sly 2: Band of Thieves disc in it. I put on some of my favorite tunes on my iPod. My favorite bands are The Police, The Guess Who, The Animals, Pat Benatar and Marilyn Manson. I played a bit of the prologue level of Sly 2. All of a sudden, right as I was about to enter the room in which the Clockwerk parts were supposed to be in, the screen flickered and glitched out. My little sister Emily was in the room with me. She handed me a newspaper clipping of that day's events. I folded it up. All of a sudden, me and my little sister were instantly teleported to a museum room. There were two coffin like structures in front of me. I slowly walked up to them.
Two women instantly popped out of the coffins. The two women were anthropomorphic animals. The first woman was a female vixen who had azure blue hair and had orange fur. She wore a tan jacket over a dark blue midriff top that zipped up at the front that covered her breasts. She was aiming some sort of weird looking gun at me. Thr gun was red and yellow colored. It looked like a weapon that was ripped straight out of a Star Trek episode. There was no way that gun could be real. It had to be a fake.
The other woman was a female purple furred cat who wore short shorts like she was Lara Croft. She wore a hoodie over a blue T-shirt. She had a whip beside her like she was the female incarnation of Indiana Jones.
"Who are you?" The orange vixen asked me. I was surprised at the fact that she could talk.
"Me and my sister here are tourists visiting the museum. We soon got lost and we wandered for a little while until we ended up here." I said to the woman. "What are you two women doing hiding inside of a couple of coffins for?"
"Me and my partner Constable Neyla were hiding in these coffins to surprise a thief who has come to steal the Clockwerk parts." The vixen said to me.
I looked around the room. I saw nothing in the room except for some blueprints for what appeared to be a mechanical demon.
"There's nothing here." I said to the vixen woman.
The vixen lowered her gun and walked over where I was. She saw nothing in the room.
"Where are the Clockwerk parts?" The vixen woman asked loudly.
"I don't know what you're talking about." I said to the vixen.
"I wasn't talking to you!" The vixen said to me. I suddenly heard footsteps coming in the distance. I saw the two female figures run back into their coffins. I saw a figure in the distance. The figure dropped down to the ground. He came into the light, where I got a good look at the figure. It was a male anthropomorphic raccoon. The raccoon wore all blue clothing: blue hat, blue shirt and blue boots. The raccoon had no pants on for some weird reason. There was nowhere for me and my sister to hide. So, I just stood there with my sister. We ran to a darker area of the museum room. Me and Emily watched as the raccoon was encountered by the same vixen and purple female cat that me and my sister had encountered just a few minutes ago.
"Freeze, Cooper!" The female vixen said to the raccoon.
"Carmelita Fox. As beautiful and unpredictable as ever." the raccoon said to the vixen.
"Whereas you crooks are so predictable, you always return to the scene of the crime." Carmelita said to the raccoon.
"Crime? I haven't stolen anything... yet." The raccoon said to Carmelita.
"Really? Then who broke in last night and made off with all the Clockwerk parts? You've got the motive." Carmelita said.
"Somebody already stole the Clockwerk parts?!" the raccoon said incredulously.
"Don't play dumb with me."
"It may not have been him, Carmelita. The method of entry and guard casualties all point to this being a Klaww Gang job." the purple feline said to Carmelita.
"The Klaww Gang?" Sly questioned
"Constable Neyla, I allowed you to sit in on this stakeout as a favor to the Contessa... I really don't need any help." Carmelita said to Neyla.
"Oh, I think you might. Look at the facts." Neyla said.
"Facts?! Sly Cooper is right here! I caught him red-handed." Carmelita said.
I decided not to stick around any longer. I wanted to make a run for it. I put on one of my favorite songs: You Really Got Me by The Kinks on my iPod and I sprinted past Carmelita, Neyla, and Sly Cooper. I headed toward the exit. I continued sprinting down the hallway of the museum. I was starting to breathe heavy due to how fast I was running. I was winded. Two people ran beside me. I looked at them. One person was a pink anthropomorphic male hippo. The other person was a green anthropomorphic male turtle. I couldn't really get a good look at them, as they were running too fast for me to get a look at them.
There was lightning bolts flying everywhere. I kept on running faster. I eventually made it outside the museum. I saw a blue van that was parked nearby. I got into the van. I was winded. I don't know why I decided to go inside the van for. I just thought it was the safer open at the time. I eventually passed out inside of the van. That's how I met the Cooper Gang.
