Ah... Earthland... a world of magic~ a mystical energy in the very air, powering stoves, fueling their vehicles, and even heating their homes!

Among those people, who are more entuned with magic than many hope to be... are Mages! Ten percent of the population are able to use some sort of magical ability, breathing fire, summoning spirits, GUN... these people have grouped together, forming magical guilds... and amongst those... a certain guild resides in certain city...

Fairy Tail...

And I want nothing to do with that absolute clusterfuck!

I look down into the water below with a frown, staring back, is a young boy, messy black hair contained by a lime green short-brimmed cap, wearing a black-t-shirt jean combo... he looks to be maybe eleven? Twelve?

Ah that doesn't matter... I'm eighteen.

Mentally at least.

My legs hang over the edge of the pier as I re-cast my fishing rod with a frown.

I, like many people in this world... am gifted with magic!

However, that wasn't always the case... I used to be NORMAL can you believe that?! I got hit by a falling lamp-post so hard I astral projected into the body of a pre-teen boy in a fictional universe.

Now, most people in my situation would want to get as close to the protagonists as possible! After all, look at all that fucking plot armor! Buuut if you really think about it... I'm not a main character...

I'm a Krillin.

Someone who nobody cares about- but the characters- who the author kills of to grant them a super duper powerup.

Yep. I'm a fucking side character~

Or maybe I'm not... the magic I have been given is fucking BUSTED beyond all things...

But who cares? I'm not touching multiple guild wars, a fucking EVERYTHING dragon slayer that can only be killed by asspulls, and an immortal that kills everything around him by loving too hard!

Ah... I should probably introduce myself... my name is Achille Banks... just your everyday, magic orphan teen hobo!

Or M.O.T.H. for short... heh... lamp.

Yikes... that joke is a little... egh... considering how I died and all.

My magic is quite an interesting one as well... and it has been the only thing carrying me throughout my little rebirth.

Even if it has only been a month...

I glance down at my box of fishhooks and pull out another.

Would you like to upgrade this item?

Fishhook:
Basic Fishing Utensil made of steel.
Cost to upgrade: 5 MP

The fishhook gains a slight glow to it as I mentally confirm it, a tiny blue magic circle forming just over my fingertips and passing over it.

Fishhook +1:
Basic Fishing Utensil made of steel, enhanced by Achille's Forge of the Ancients Lost Magic.
+2% Durability.
Cost to upgrade: 7.5 MP

My magic allows me to upgrade items!

Badass, right?

There are a couple of rules though... well, rules at the moment, who knows what I'll be able to do in the future... I can't enhance consumables... nor can I enhance living creatures.

I don't know if this extends to dead creatures as well, I'm not enough of a psychopath to try and upgrade a dead fish... buuut there's a reason why I am fishing currently.

I look to my fishing rod.

Fishing Rod +8
A basic Fishing Utensil that has been enhanced by Achille's Forge of the Ancients Lost Magic.
+19% Durability
The Fishing Rod is now harder to pull out of your grasp when unwanted.
Cost to upgrade: 178 MP

Everything I enhance gains a 'special ability' every five levels or so eventually, I'll be able to create an item that can slay a god!

That's my overarching scheme here, I guess...

Fishing is a bit of a cheat for me as well, because...

I look to the string.

Fishing Line +8:
Basic fishing line made extremely durable by lost magic.
+19% Durability
Extremely resistant to cuts.
Cost to upgrade: 178 MP

My power works a lot better when there are a lot of pieces in play... for this, I have enhanced the fishing rod itself, the fishing line, the bobber, and finally the fishhook.

All non-combat items gain a two percent damage resistance per enchantment level... until level five at least, where it started increasing by three every level... then this one gained a perk that gives it FURTHER resistance.

I can't even cut it with a non-enhanced pocket knife now... I could probably kill someone with it if I really wanted.

This would also apply to something like a bow, where could I enhance the arrow, the bow itself, and the bowstring separately.

I look out to the sloshing water, looking over the rest of my work.

Fishing Float +8
Basic Fishing Gear enhanced by lost magic.
+19% Durability
Alerts the user when a fish is on the line.
Cost to upgrade: 178 MP

Fish Hook +8
A Fishook enchanted by Lost Magic
+19% Durability
Has a 0.001% chance to roll a 'Critical Success' and catch something truly wondrous (If you can actually manage to land said 'Wondrous' thing is another matter entirely.)
Cost to Upgrade: 178 MP

I've had to pick and choose what to upgrade at a certain point... I have a spool of fishing line, so I was able to cut off a certain amount and enchant that... plus I have a fairly large box of fishing hooks, so that was a no-brainer as well...

I look to my 'Mp bar'

Another aspect of my magic is that I have a perfect idea of just how much magic I have at any given point... and in this case.

MP: 145/150

Quite a lot, but it regenerates fairly slowly... at least it increases when I use my magic... it used to just be fifty...

I continue upgrading the fishhook I am holding onto.

Fishhook +5:
Basic Fishing Utensil made of steel, enhanced by Achille's Forge of the Ancients Lost Magic.
+10% Durability.
Has a 0.1% chance to hook items instead of fish.
Cost to upgrade: 52 MP

'ooh... this one might be a keeper!' I mentally hum as I place it back into my tacklebox.

Literally EVERYTHING on my person is at least plus five... my hat, my clothes, my shoes, hell, even my belt and tacklebox!

But not my pocket knife... yeah, can't exactly do much with it yet.

I take off my hat, reach inside, then pull out a small waterskin and take a drink.

Waterskin +6:
+13% Durability
Quickly Purifies any liquid placed within.
Cost to upgrade: 79 MP

I lean down and scoop up some seawater, twist the cap back on, then place it back within my hat.

Lime Green Hat +8:
+19% Durability
Has a five-foot square extradimensional storage space within
Cost to upgrade: 178 MP

My power is beyond busted... everything I make is always perfectly enchanted... no chance of failure, no chance of destruction, buuut I can't exactly determine what I enchant my items with sooo sometimes I might 'break' an item by giving it a bad enchantment... hm, how do I explain it... say I have a knife that automatically puts people to sleep, and it's my 'nonlethal weapon', I could then get an enchantment that instantly kills whoever I use the knife on... sort of like that dagger from Skyrim, thus 'breaking it' for its intended purpose.

I sigh and shake my head. 'eh, that doesn't really matter I suppose.'

I glance behind me to the town I currently bum in.

Hargeon...

Where the story began...

I let out a scoff as I look back into the ocean.

*Ping*

The bobber lights up, causing me to pull back on the fishing rod with a grin.

I begin quickly reeling it in.

'come on... come on, what is it?'

I yank back, and with a splash a fairly large fish appears, about two feet long.

I grab onto the line and hold the fish up as it flops around.

'welp, this is going to be my dinner, then.'

I pull out a knife with a small grin.

I cast the line out and lean back, staring up at the cloudy sky.

'hn, I wonder if it'll rain...'

I glance out to the bobber peacefully sloshing amongst the waves.

I had attached two hooks to my fishing line, normally, I just toss one out with a worm on it, but now that I have that 'sometimes catches items' hook, might as well put that on the line as well!

And it's working! I've already captured one soggy boot and some seaweed! Clearly this is my most powerful fishhook... by gods... it can fish up BOOTS

Still a little mad about that, honestly...

It has been two months since I have been pulled into this world... two months since a lamp post became intimate with my brain matter.

*Ping*

I reel back.

'what is it this time? It's not resisting... so another boot?'

I tug the hook out of the water only to blink owlishly.

Both hooks are snagged on a ring... a keyring...

With three keys on it...

Celestial spirit keys...

'w-what the hell?!'

Upon it are two silver and one golden key.

"…"

I slowly reach out and grab the key ring, bringing it close to my body.

'what the hell is this?'

I look over the keys in order, from left to right.

Fornax the Furnace (Silver Key)
Summon the Furnace Celestial Spirit 'Fornax' a brick furnace with a mind of its own that can make magical alloys.
Cost to summon: 150 Mp per minute
Cost to upgrade 1500 Mp

"…"

I can upgrade celestial spirit keys...

Holy shit I CAN UPGRADE CELESTIAL SPIRIT KEYS

I THOUGHT MY POWER WAS BUSTED BEFORE, BUT HOLY SHIT

That is beyond broken... like what the hell?! And it's SO CHEAP as well!

Wait... that's only for plus one...

My knife cost fifty to become plus one...

I'd probably only be able to increase this key's durability by two percent... god knows how much Mp I'll need to get it to plus five...

And that brings up an even bigger question...

'What the hell happens when I eventually DO get it up to level five? Does Fornax gain increased abilities? Does the key gain better mana efficiency? Will I be able to call the key to myself no matter its location?'

'how deep does that hole go?!'

I blink slowly 'oh, right... other spirit keys...'

I look to the right.

Hebi the Snake (Brass Key)
Summon one of the twelve Japanese Zodiac spirits, The Snake, Hebi, to assist you in combat, She has vile poison, and is quite fast.
Cost to summon: 2000 Per Minute
Cost to upgrade: 20000 Mp

"…"

Japanese... zodiac?

Brass?

Twenty fucking thousand?

I look to the right again.

Perseus the Hero (Platinum Key)
Summons the mighty Hero, Perseus, to assist you in combat, he is quite the swordsman and has the ability to turn people to stone through his attunement of the head of medusa.
Cost to summon: 10000 Per Minute
Cost to upgrade: 50000 Mp

"…"

'whatthefuckwhatthefuckwhatthefuckingfuck?!'

I sharply inhale and place the key ring in my hat.

'those aren't ever coming out...'

I put my hat back on and look to the magic powered stove to my right.

I stab my knife into one of the pieces of fish and flip it over.

Maybe I should open a magic shop... my ability to upgrade magic items would definitely desired...

'hm...'

I tap my fingers on the stone dock beneath me.

'maybe I should do that... better than hanging around here after all... how hard could it be?'

Hard.

Very hard.

I brush a hand through my hair as I look to the slightly run-down building before me.

Three years...

It has been three years since I have come to this world.

I adjust my backpack strap and take a step forwards with a smile.

I open the door and allow a grin to fully form on my face, there are a few cracked floorboards, but it doesn't look all that bad.

Near the back of the room is a staircase that goes up to the second floor, and beside that is a door leading to a bathroom.

I step forwards and brush a hand across the dusty counter.

"Hn... needs a good cleaning..."

I sit my backpack on the counter with a grin and take out a broom.

I toss it into the air... and it freezes in place.

"Clean!"

The broom flips over so it is now facing downwards... then begins zooming across the room.

Broom +18:
+60% Durability.
+200% Cleaning Efficiency.
Can be animated to clean on its own.
Can fly at over one hundred miles an hour with a passenger.
Cost to upgrade: 4249 MP

Dust is violently kicked up as I quickly cover my face.

About a minute later, it lands in front of me with a clatter.

'okay then.'

I pick up the broom and put it back in one of the backpack's pouches.

*This is where I stopped writing*

This was one of my older fics that never saw the light, basically good ol Achille was going to open his very own magic item shop in Magnolia, and hijinks ensue, but I shelved it because of how similar it was to Redwalls' fic.

Anyways, this is fic 1 of my triad of fics I'll be uploading here, the next will be updated shortly.
