"What the hell just happened?" Daiz barked.
Zailora stood with her right hand covering her mouth, a look of utter disbelief lit her face.
"Tha purple freak's done changed bodies wi' tha brat!" Gartoas hissed.
The dark-skinned Saiyan felt his very skin crawl as he picked up the Kardanagan's words. He truly hoped the burly bearded pirate was mistaken.
"C-Commander T-Turles!"
Turles growled low in his throat as he realized that the voice of Gohan was… coming from the body of Captain Ginyu!
A stream of epithets came from the officer under Frieza's command. Things had certainly not gone as he had intended.
'I was supposed to take over Turles…if that damned runt hadn't gotten in the way…' Ginyu fumed mentally.
Gohan miserably stared at his large purple hands. It suddenly dawned on the horrified seven-year-old that he was now imprisoned in the severely wounded body of the leader of the Ginyu Force. He gulped as he took in the sight of his previous form.
'Am I always going to be like this?' the little demi-Saiyan wondered.
It just wasn't fair, he was only seven! He couldn't go through life now as a full-grown adult. Why he didn't even know what kind of being he was. To make matters worse, his entire body seemed to radiate with intense pain that resulted from Turles's vicious attack on Captain Ginyu.
Thick purplish blood flowed from a gaping wound in his chest. Gohan fought against the pain and weariness that plagued him but he was soon unconscious.
Daiz caught the youngster just as he fell from the sky. It was hard to believe that the purple monstrosity he held contained the life force of a half-blood child. Zailora rushed over as he landed and she began doing her best to treat the horrible wounds that now affected Gohan.
Anger and disgust welled up in Turles at the very notion of a Saiyan being forcibly ejected from their natural state of being. He could sense Gohan's suffering and it infuriated him.
Captain Ginyu snickered as Turles turned to face him.
"It's not like you're really going to do anything to me now are you? Not while I'm in the body of this pint-sized half-breed," Frieza's elite taunted. "Maybe I'll keep this body after all. I was getting up in years a bit and this way I'll have a whole new lifetime to use the knowledge and skills I've gained. All I have to do is master the brat's power level and…"
Ginyu's speech was cut short as Turles suddenly phased in front of him. The Saiyan's black gauntleted hand seized the startled captain by his throat.
"And just how did you determine that no harm would come to you? The brat was beginning to be rather annoying. You've just given me all the more reason to dispose of him. He was amusing for a while but I've grown quite tired of putting up with him," Turles said coldly.
"He can't be serious!" Zailora gasped.
"Turles is bluffing, I know he is," Daiz spoke up quickly.
"Ya sure o' that?" Gartoas huffed. "Turles'll do anything e' thinks'll benefit 'im."
"He won't..he wouldn't hurt Gohan," the former Kabochan prince insisted.
Daiz fought to suppress the niggling doubt that suddenly crept into his mind.
"HA! I'm calling your bluff, Saiyan. There's no way you'd actually do anything to harm this body. You wouldn't want to risk injuring the little mongrel!" Captain Ginyu sneered.
"Really now, you're so certain of that?" the smirking pirate commander queried.
…
The former heiress of Capsule Corps completed several small projects in her lab as she tried to occupy her mind. Bulma shivered as she recalled the disturbing scene she observed in her benefactor's office. This 'Frieza' Artruay had been conversing with had seemed frightening indeed. Was her invention really meant to be used by that repulsive being?
'Maybe I'm just being judgmental after all there are all kinds of strange beings out here in space. It's not like these aliens can help their appearance' the azure-haired scientist thought to herself.
She suddenly felt better about it all. Artruay could get a bit stern with her but she could only imagine the stress he must have to contend with considering his myriad responsibilities. Above all there was the ever-present danger that Turles could decide to destroy the planet and all of its inhabitants at any given time.
'You won't be a threat for long, you arrogant Saiyan!' Bulma thought smugly.
Artruay entered the lab at that very moment "Bulma, my dear. Are things proceeding well?"
"Yes, indeed! Our 'little project' is complete and fully operational" the young genius announced triumphantly.
"Wonderful!" the gray reptile exclaimed.
Bulma beamed as her employer praised her efforts.
'The hour of your demise is close at hand, Turles!' Artruay thought gloatingly.
…..
Without warning, a fist slammed into Captain Ginyu's midsection. The mutant's eyes bulged as pressure was slowly exerted on his small windpipe.
"Y-You're trying…to force m-me to transform back. I-it's not gonna w-work!" the elite officer choked out as he clawed at the vise- like grip that enclosed his neck.
"We'll see about that" Turles growled.
Ginyu shuddered inwardly as a smile of pure evil lit the Saiyan's face. Was this the sight beheld by the Saiyan pirate's victims as they took their final breath in this existence? The captain suddenly clutched at the small skull he now possessed. Unimaginable pain coursed through him. It seemed as if flames were shooting about inside his brain.
A hoarse cry of pure anguish tore from Ginyu's throat. Somehow he knew that the evil Saiyan was causing his torment.
"You will continue to suffer until you return to your rightful form," Turles snarled.
"H-HOW ARE YOU DOING THIS?" Frieza's prized soldier groaned.
"You never learned to shield your mind? Tsk, tsk!" the dark-skinned Saiyan mocked.
Turles let the small body of the little demi-Saiyan fall to the ground.
"How can he be so cruel? Won't that affect Gohan?" Zailora protested.
Daiz and Gartoas gave each other a knowing look. This was quite mild by the Saiyan pirate's notion of cruelty.
Captain Ginyu rolled about the ground and struck his head repeatedly on the rocky surface as he desperately tried to end the maddening pain.
Turles seemed to concentrate on the now thrashing former leader of the Ginyu Force. Zailora could feel the tiny hairs on the back of her neck stand up as a soul-wrenching scream emitted from the mutant warrior.
Ginyu's original form sat up, the half-Saiyan youth trapped within it moaned as he realized he had not simply awakened from a nightmare. He truly resided in the purple-skinned alien's body now. Another scream echoed the one which had awakened the son of Goku.
"CHANGE NOW!" Captain Ginyu bellowed. He simply wanted to escape his torment.
A strange yellow beam of light suddenly shot towards Gohan. It was fired from the mouth of the small body he had once possessed….
Gohan squealed in delight as he held up his hands. They were once again the hands of a seven-year-old demi-Saiyan. But why did his head and his stomach hurt so much?
"Gohan, you are well?" Turles asked.
"Yes, Master Turles!" the little half-blood piped up. He was actually quite sore from head to toe but he was going to admit it.
Nasty cuts and bruises covered most of the youngster's small frame but he made no complaint. Turles gave a nod of approval. Such was the expected behavior for a young Saiyan. Gohan grinned when Turles reached over and ruffled his hair.
The boy's ki was back to normal the adult Saiyan noted with relief. He now turned his attention to Frieza's elite officer who was struggling to rise to his feet. Turles simply raised an eyebrow at Daiz and Gartoas and then he glanced in Captain Ginyu's direction. Instantly picking up on the unspoken command, the two members of the Saiyan pirate's crew raised their hands and obliterated the hapless captain.
"Let's get back to the ship," Turles ordered.
His crew was more than happy to follow his command.
…..
Bulma felt Chi-Chi's forehead and sighed softly. At least the raging fever had subsided. The petite brunette still looked deathly pale but her condition had improved considerably. A wave of guilt plagued the young scientist as she watched over her sleeping companion. If only she hadn't suggested going to planet Gerlis for a celebratory dinner.
Chi-Chi had been quite hesitant at going out to a restaurant three planets away from their present refuge. It was only at Bulma's insistence that she help celebrate her invention's successful completion that Chi-Chi overcame her initial reluctance.
The former heiress never would have guessed that the tasty fish Chi-Chi had ordered would result in a horrific allergic reaction in a human's digestive system. Within seconds of consuming her meal, the Ox-King's daughter had become extremely ill. A frantic Bulma had rushed her friend to the nearest healing station.
When they arrived at the facility, the azure-haired genius hadn't known whether to be amused or appalled at the head medic's excitement at having the opportunity to treat a species that was completely unfamiliar to him. As miserable as Chi-Chi was, the fiery female made it quite clear that she was not an experiment for the enthralled medical professional.
Bulma pulled an extra blanket over Goku's widow as chills suddenly seized her slim form. Hopefully the intense nausea wouldn't kick in again.
"I trust the meds have relived the fever?" the purple feline medic questioned as he entered the room.
"Yes, Karvet, her temperature is at the normal level," Bulma answered.
"No appearance of a rash or respiratory difficulties?" the medic pressed.
"No such symptoms so far."
"I see," the feline seemed almost disappointed at her reply.
"This is all your fault, Turles," the aquamarine-haired female mumbled.
It was an unreasonable thing to say but if she hadn't created the invention then Chi-Chi would have never had the opportunity to be exposed to the nearly toxic seafood she had ingested.
"If her condition remains stable, your friend can be discharged tomorrow morning. She should most definitely stay for overnight observation," Karvet informed her.
"That's great news!" Bulma responded.
Then the head medic startled the darling of Capsule Corps by suggesting a battery of tests for Chi-Chi 'just in case.'
"You are NOT taking blood and tissue samples," Bulma declared.
"Such a WASTED opportunity!" Karvet muttered under his breath as he left the room.
…..
Turles had decided it was best for him and his crew to lay low for a bit. One of the planets that had once been under Raychalla's control would be a perfect place to recharge while avoiding any entanglements with Frieza's ilk.
Planet Teylazhar was a lush tropical world with a single sun. The elegant white marble palace of the pirate queen now belonged to Turles. But he refused to seat himself on her exquisite sapphire throne.
Gohan couldn't wait to dig into the sumptuous feast that was being prepared by the palace servants. He was elated that Turles had allowed him to take Ember along. The Charladon scampered and bounced at his heels in excitement as she rarely left the ship.
How would Ember have reacted if he'd been forced to stay in Captain Ginyu's body? Gohan shuddered at the thought. He had no wish to know. Daiz and Zailora followed the half-Saiyan child. A grumbling Gartoas met them at the entrance to a large courtyard.
"What's your problem and where's Master Turles?" Daiz a asked.
"Be lookin' out in tha courtyard!" Gartoas huffed.
Stepping out into the courtyard, Daiz, Zailora and Gohan were greeted by the sweet perfume of Crizimain roses. The delicate lavender blooms were planted in well-tended beds that bordered the lavender and pink tiled courtyard. A small tinkling fountain made of pink marble was set before a large bench of the same material.
Turles was standing a few feet away, his back was towards them. The Saiyan pirate commander's attention was held by a large statue carved from a single piece of Kreldyian crystal.
"Raychalla," Daiz whispered.
Zailora noted that the statue was of the pirate queen as a very young female. A master craftsman had evidently carved the image. Raychalla's long flowing hair had been captured in perfect detail, the knee-length dress covering her slim form almost seemed to flutter in the light breeze. Delicate fingers in each hand clutched a long thin bladed sword. A smirk had been artfully carved into the female monarch's face. The Kabohan female half-expected to see the life-like image to take a breath at any moment.
The dark-skinned Saiyan's right hand cupped the sculpted left cheek of the pirate queen and his fingers slid down to the strands of her cold crystal tresses.
Gartoas joined the rest of his crewmates.
"Ah thought we were rid o' tha white 'aired witch," the Kardangan muttered.
Gohan had slipped away as the others had stood watching Turles.
Daiz grit his teeth as the youngster walked up to their commander. How was Turles going to react?
"Master Turles, Queen Raychalla was very pretty wasn't she?" Gohan spoke up.
Turles was disgusted with himself for allowing such a display as he realized his crew had witnessed it.
"Indeed she was," the spiky-haired Saiyan said tightly.
"You miss her don't you, Commander?" the seven-year old youth pressed.
The former Kabochan prince smacked himself in the forehead. That was not a question to be asking Turles!
"Of course I miss arguing with someone at every possible opportunity!' Turles snarled.
"I'm sure Zailora could argue with you, Commander!" Gohan happily suggested.
Zailora's face flushed, Gartoas snickered and Daiz buried his face in his hands.
"Is that supposed to be amusing, Brat?" the Saiyan pirate growled.
Gohan bowed his head. Turles had used the word 'brat' so he was obviously annoyed with him.
"I don't think she'd mind, Master Turles. Gartoas says Zailora can argue with a rock," the little demi-Saiyan pushed on.
Turles burst into laughter "YOU are an instigator, Gohan! Let's get to our meal!"
Gartoas merely chuckled at the sour looks he received from Zailora and Daiz….
