Gartoas watched as Zalora mimicked Turles's every move of the elaborate kata the Saiyan had chosen. She suddenly dropped to the floor not because she had slipped or stumbled but she was avoiding the fist that rapidly appeared aiming for her head. The Kabochan female then leapt into the air and performed a graceful somersault that prevented Turles from employing a leg sweep effectively. Upon landing she began executing the identical movements that the infamous pirate was performing. Zailora blocked a ki blast and continued with her task completely unruffled.

'Damned woman's gittin' purty good!' the Kardanagan mused with annoyance.

Gohan was watching with the dark green-haired female with admiration. How did she stay so calm? After all she never knew when Turles might attack. The dark-skinned Saiyan abruptly came to a stop and faced Zailora.

"You're getting there," Turles said flatly.

Then he turned and walked away without a single other word. A wide smile lit the she-pirate's face at the pirate commander's comment.

"Whatcha grin'in bout' woman? Yer sucha low level ya could 'n git any worse!" Gartoas needled.

"Care to prove that?" Zailora hissed.

"An' now yer gettin' ta big fer yer britches!" the burly Kardanagan barked.

"With the size of your backside it's a wonder you can find any 'britches'! " the nobleman's daughter chortled.

"Owed' ya like ta lose some teeth?" Gartoas growled.

"How'd YOU like to be flat on your back?" Zailora taunted.

"Not wi' tha likes o' ya Wench! Ah got muh standards ya know!" the bearded pirate shot back.

"Hmph! Alive and breathing doesn't set the bar all that high," the female member of Turles's crew snickered.

"Yer askin' fer a boot in yer yap!"

"Ha! The sheer odor would kill me before your foot ever reached me!" Zailora teased.

Gohan tried to keep from laughing at the pair's squabbling but failed. His childish giggles soon rang out in the training room. Gartoas glared at him Zailora just smirked.

'Zailora's as quick-witted as Daiz was when it comes to Gartoas,' Turles thought with amusement.

…..

The dark green-haired warrior shook his head as an image appeared in his mind but it disappeared just as quickly.

"You saw something, didn't you?" an elderly figure asked.

"Only for a moment," the younger male sighed.

"What was it?" the elder of the two pressed.

He wished the green-haired, pale-skinned visitor to their village no ill will. But the sooner he regained his memory, the sooner he could be on his way back to where he came from. The aged golden-skinned patriarch's once ebony hair had turned silver some time ago but his amber eyes were as sharp as ever. Cronos didn't miss the admiring glances his young granddaughter had been giving as of late to the young man who was not of their race. He would not allow disaster to befall the foolish girl by allowing any attachments to be formed between her and the stranger she had rescued from the desert. She belonged with her own kind.

That Agalaki fellow would be a fine choice if only she wasn't so stubborn! Of course that was her late father's doing. His son had spoiled and indulged his daughter beyond reason as far as her grandfather was concerned.

"I saw a woman. She had hair and skin like me," the young man replied.

"Was it your mate perhaps?" Cronos asked excitedly.

If the stranger they called 'Jazaien' had a mate that would bring an end to his granddaughter's apparent infatuation immediately.

"No, I'm sure I'd remember that!" Jazaien said ruefully shaking his head.

Cronos sighed in disappointment.

"I'm going to rest for a bit before I take on my duty with the herd," Jazaien informed him.

"Are you feeling poorly? Should I get you something?" Markelia asked.

The golden-skinned raven-haired beauty ignored the scowl her grandfather gave her.

"No, I'm fine thank you. You do too much as it is," the dark-green haired male answered. His gray eyes seemed to twinkle as he gave her a radiant smile before he went to the room he had been given.

Cronos grit his teeth as he noticed his granddaughter's response. She was practically beaming!

"I will say it again, Markelia. That one is NOT for you" the elderly Daygoyien scowled.

Markelia knew her grandfather constantly grilled their visitor about his former life in hopes that his memory would return quickly and they would be rid of him. She couldn't resist a dig at the stubborn old fellow so set in his ways.

"I don't know, Grandfather. I rather like the idea of children with green hair, light skin and gray eyes. We really could use a little variety in color around here."

She grinned inwardly at the horrified shriek that resulted from her comment.

Gohan twisted in mid-air to avoid the ki blast Gartoas fired at his mid-section. He grunted in surprise and pain as Turles appeared from seemingly nowhere and rammed a fist into the very area he'd tried to protect. The force of the punch sent him flying right into the massive Kardanagan. The little demi-Saiyan gasped as the burly pirate's huge arms wrapped around him and began to squeeze. He went limp immediately.

"Brat?"

There was no response. Surely he hadn't squeezed THAT hard…had he?

"Brat quit playin' round!" Gartoas whispered as he loosened his grip. Gohan still didn't nmove.

The bearded pirate glanced nervously at Turles who had quickly noticed the half-ling's motionless state. If he'd managed to seriously injure the boy there'd be Hell to pay. Gartoas swallowed hard as he caught sight of the dark-skinned Saiyan baring his fangs.

Turles gave a low dangerous growl and his tail began to lash about.

"C'mon boy, ya tryin ta git me killed?" Gartoas choked out.

A small fist suddenly shot out and caught the Kardanagan under the chin followed by a vicious kick that sent the beefy pirate headfirst into the far wall.

'Sneaky brat!' Gartoas thought as he rubbed his aching forehead.

The Saiyan pirate was highly amused by the Earth-raised youngster's deception. It was a very Saiyan thing to do. Gohan no longer complained about training even to the point of exhaustion. He looked forward to each and every spar even those that sent him for a visit to the rejuvenation tank. The boy's Saiyan heritage was becoming more and more apparent and Turles relished the notion.

Gartoas snorted as he watched the seven-year-old grin and bask in Turles's obvious approval. No doubt the pirate commander hoped the little imp would grow up to be as devious he was.

" Ah don' think tha universe could be handlin' two of tha likes o' Turles," the hefty being muttered to himself.

….

Markelia smiled as Jazaien seemingly pulled a golden coin from behind the ear of her sister's son causing the child to squeal in delight.

"He's very good with children," she mused aloud.

"Perhaps he has an entire brood to attend to in his own home," Agalaki declared sharply.

"Nonsense, he doesn't even have a mate," Markelia chided.

"You mean he doesn't really know if he has a mate!"

The Daygoyien female pursed her lips, she was a bit concerned about Jazaien's hazy recollections of a female resembling himself but she wasn't about to admit it.

"Admit it! You don't know a thing about his past existence. He could be a world destroying pirate for all you know!" the young male Daygoyien fumed.

"I refuse to believe such an outrageous accusation! Jazaien is a kind and gentle soul and your jealousy has simply has blinded you to that fact, " Markelia argued.

"YOU only see what you wish to see and our people will pay the price!"

"That is ENOUGH!"Cronos scolded as he entered the room.

Markelia bolted from the room.

"She is SO stubborn!" Agalaki complained.

"Ah, Agalaki. You cannot woo a woman with arguments. Soon our 'guest' will return to his home and you must employ more persuasive measures….gentler measures," the elderly Dayoyien advised.

"With all due respect, Cronos, we should have been joined two years ago! My patience is wearing thin," Agalaki grumbled.

"Like a fine wine a relationship takes time to develop," Cronos chuckled. ''We must take each day as it comes."

The elder heard a gasp behind him, he and his youthful companion turned around. Jazaien was standing them with his hand clasped over his mouth.

"Have I said something amiss?" Cronos asked timidly. He did not wish to anger the obviously powerful young man.

"You've said NOTHING wrong!" Agalaki snapped.

" We must take each day as it comes…day as….I remember now…."

Jazaien broke into a wide smile," My name is Daiz!"

….

Gohan watched with awe as Zailora blocked all but one of Turles's attacks. That one had left a small scorch mark on her right cheek. In the past few months the Kabochan female had grown much more powerful and her speed had increased immensely. The little demi-Saiyan bit his lip as he noticed signs of fatigue beginning to show In the she-pirate. Turles would capitalize on that…..

Zailora gasped in surprise as she once again found herself pinned against the training room wall by the nefarious Saiyan.

"Hmmm, I believe we've been in this position before…." Turles growled.

The dark green-haired woman's eyes widened as the pirate commander leaned into her. He was just a half inch from away from her. She could feel his warm breath on her skin. One hand kept her imprisoned in his grip while the other lifted her chin. He leaned in further still and parted his lips….then he threw back his head and burst into laughter. Without another word he released her and walked away.

'What the HELL was that?' Zailora wondered.
