Bergis grinned as he watched the Saiyan seated across from him actually drop his jaw in surprise at the sight of the female half-ling. Turles quickly regained his composure but continued to stare at the emerald-skinned being.
"We found Kosho here on Pergala. She's Pergashian on her mother's side and I don't have to tell you what the other half is."
"So she's a purge-child?" Turles questioned.
"One would think so but it turns out a Saiyan crash-landed on Pergala and was accepted by the inhabitants there…"
"Sir, my father died defending my mother from Frieza's soldiers," Kosho cut in.
"Fitting end for a Saiyan," the pirate commander replied.
That brought a smile to the young female's face. Her eyes went wide when she noticed Gohan. The son of Goku could barely contain his excitement. Kosho appeared to be near his age.
"I thought maybe you'd wanna take her along being as she's kinda like the boy," Bergis stated as he nodded toward Gohan.
"So you just assumed I'd take her in?" Turles growled.
The grin on Gohan's face faded and he slumped on the table in abject disappointment.
"Who said I wanted to go with YOU?" Kosho snorted.
The small female stood straight and folded her arms over her chest instantly reminding Turles of the typical infuriated female Saiyan. If she had inherited nothing else from her sire she certainly had a Saiyan's pride.
Genuine laughter boomed from the spiky-haired warrior, " I suppose we could take her with us. I can always toss her out of the airlock if she proves to be an annoyance."
"You'd have to catch me first!" Kosho snapped.
"I assure you that would not be difficult," Turles chuckled.
'Just great ANOTHER brat! And another damned Saiyan!' Taimaz thought.
"Jus' great ano'er FEMALE!" Gartoas groaned.
"Don't worry I'll leave some food for you!" Kosho quipped.
"You may just fit in," Turles snickered.
...
Daiz was quite surprised to see the green-complexioned being that Gohan was excitedly guiding through the ship.
"Picked up ano'er stray!" Gartoas grumbled.
"I haven't seen Gohan so excited for some time," the former prince noted.
"Course e' is. Closest thing ta' his kind ceptin' fer' Turles," the Kardanagan mused.
To her credit, Kosho had immediately begun to assist Gohan with his on-board duties much to the approval of Turles.
'Smart kid. She can't be much older than Gohan or maybe even they're the same age," the Kabochan pirate thought.
Daiz looked in Taimaz's direction and was rewarded with a sour glance from his fellow citizen of the planet of his birth. What had happened to the bubbly, pleasant woman he'd known on planet Artruay? Could the short time she'd been around Turles be the reason she was so short and distant or was it something he had said or done unawares? He'd also noticed how nervous Bulma appeared to be when the Kabochan female was nearby. Something was going on and he needed to find out what it was.
….
Taimas tossed and turned fitfully as disturbing images intruded on her slumber….
(A/N: The full story of Daiz and Gazaiz is found in Chapter 3-Daiz's Story.)
King Arnaiz the ruler of planet Kabocha was no more. The elderly monarch had drawn his last breath in the presence of his two sons, Gazaiz and Daiz. There was a marked difference between the two sibling princes. Gazaiz was short in stature and had considerable girth about his waistline, while Daiz had a tall, slim muscular frame. Both wore the signature hairstyle of the Pupkinpa Dynasty, close cropped on the sides and long hair in the back and silver earrings that brushed their shoulders. Gazaiz wore a heavy gold crown encrusted with rubies signifying that he was the heir to the throne. As the Crown Prince Gazaiz found it fit to linger about the royal court indulging in numerous celebrations and sumptuous meals. His younger brother found pleasure in hunting and training. Much to the mutual disgust of his father and brother he would spar with common soldiers.
Daiz released his father's hand and rose to his feet. Gazaiz did the same but taking considerably more effort to rise.
"I'll inform Kashios to tell the Council of Elders that father has begun his journey to his ancestors."
"Ah, yes do so. And as King I will….." Gazaiz began.
"KING? KING? YOU haven't been CROWNED 'KING' YET!" Daiz thundered. "Father's body has yet to even grow cold and you're ALREADY declaring yourself KING? There is to be a mourning period THEN the elders of the court will decide when you'll be crowned. Show the proper RESPECT for your FATHER!"
With a snort of utter disgust Daiz left the room. Gazaiz twisted the golden rings on his hands in utter fury. How dare that self -righteous brother of his speak to him in such a manner? HE was the rightful KING!
"I've waited long enough for the old fool to finally leave me the Ruby Throne and I intend to begin my glorious reign-IMMEDIATELY!"
….
Prince Daiz shook his head as he walked away from his father's grave only he and Kashios the practically ancient family servant had attended the funeral rites. A full day had gone by and not once had the Crown Prince paid his respects. As much as he hated the notion of facing his self-absorbed sibling he might as well get it over with….
….
Taimaz squealed with delight at her reflection. Her one-shouldered ankle-length silver gown clung to her curves in a provocative yet tasteful manner. She'd spent hours arranging her dark green hair in little ringlets that spilled down her back. A necklace of precious pale pink Segori pearls and matching earrings completed her look. A giggle escaped the Kabochan female as she realized she'd forgotten her shoes and she slipped on the delicate silver sandals that laced up to her mid-calves. She was going to her first royal celebration –the coronation of the new king!
Crown Prince Gazaiz wasn't much to look at with his pudgy face and sagging chin not to mention the protruding stomach he waddled about with but he was to be the next royal to ascend the Ruby Throne! As handsome as he was, Prince Daiz would remain just that a mere prince. And as the daughter of the Commander of the Kabochan Army her father would expect her to cultivate associates that were beneficial.
Commander Quanos smiled as his daughter made her way into the throne room. With her skills and intelligence as well as her beauty Taimaz would go far. He'd been initially disappointed that his only child had been a female but she could fight as well as any man thanks to his tutelage. Now she had only to secure her position in the royal court.
Taimaz applauded loudly as her father swore loyalty to the newly crowned king. Now there would be dancing and feasting well into the night…
"Taimaz! Taimaz! Wake up! You have to leave here NOW!" Commander Quanos barked.
The barely awake Kabochan female gasped as her father roughly pulled her from her bed.
"Wha-What's going on?"
"No time to explain! MOVE!"
Taimaz hurriedly threw on the first garment she could reach as her father practically pulled her along. Wait! Why were they headed to the launching area?
"I've pre-programmed your craft to go to Kelinos they'll help you there. I'll meet you soon as I can," her father explained.
"Kelinos? WHY am I to go to there?"
A massive explosion rocked the launching bay. Screams filled the air.
"WE'RE BEING ATTACKED AREN'T WE? I'm NOT going! I'M GOING TO STAY AND FIGHT!" Taimaz argued.
"YOU ARE GOING TO LEAVE THIS PLANET!" Quanos snarled as he shoved his protesting daughter into the small ship.
Taimaz helplessly pummeled her fists on the locked hatch as the craft began to leave Kabocha's surface.
All too soon she'd left her home-world's airspace, as distant stars came into view she began to do her best to over-ride the pre-existing program that controlled her flight. Success! She was going BACK to Kabocha!
A strange ship was hovering over Kabocha's surface and an even stranger being was standing at what appeared to be the ship's entrance. The creature raised his black gauntleted hands and a huge wave of purple energy surged toward the doomed planet….Taimaz screamed as she watched her world vanish into dust right before her very eyes!
Taimaz sat up and looked about wildly as she slowly realized she'd had a horrific dream about the demise of her home planet and she was presently aboard the ship belonging to the very MONSTER who had ended her planet's existence and he hadn't acted alone…
"This settles it..the prince dies FIRST!"
…
