...

Chi-Chi watched in utter dismay as her son hurled himself at the Saiyan pirate known as Turles.

The half-ling snarled like a beast that hailed from the jungle that surrounded them. Not a shred of the respect and affection that Gohan had held for his erstwhile commander was evident in his rage-filled eyes. Even more telling were the savage blows that rained down from his powerful fists, this was no mere spar the demi-Saiyan fully intended to kill his target.

It didn't take long for Turles to prove his superior strength and experience as he fought to only defend himself against the virus-addled youth and not cause any serious damage. The planet raider didn't miss the sheer irony that in times past he would have simply disposed of the brat within an instant of an attack on his person. Gohan was far too valuable to lose regardless of his present state of mind. He would simply have to be brought to heel and treated to fulfill the plans Turles was determined to bring to fruition.

The son of Goku was outraged that his prey didn't succumb to his viscous onslaught. As his fury increased so did his overall strength and power. Turles noticed the spike in the youngster's ki immediately he have to end this bout soon or risk being overpowered. The very notion alone rankled the Saiyan warrior.

Seizing Gohan in a choke hold the pirate commander hoped to cause him to black out long enough to be secured. Suddenly Turles found himself flung away as if he'd been an annoying insect. As he scrambled to his feet the brigand's eyes widened as he noticed yet another change in Kakarot's progeny. Flashes of gold began to shimmer in the half-blood's disheveled hair...

'Damn it! NOT NOW!' Turles thought...

...

Bulma gave a sigh of utter pleasure as she sank her teeth into a tender, luscious slab of meat that had an oddly familiar taste. The dark red concoction that coated the meaty pieces of rib-like meat was strangely reminiscent of a high-end barbecue sauce she'd once enjoyed on Earth. Earth. It had been considerable time since she'd even allowed her thoughts to stray to the planet of her origin. Her pleasant mood soured as guilt weighed heavily on her conscience. Earth no longer existed, neither did her family and friends. And here she was having an exquisite meal with someone who was in part responsible for the horrible destruction of the planet of her birth and personally guilty of ending the lives of those she'd held dear...

Daiz leapt from his seat suddenly concerned about the woman who was in high spirits just seconds before and now dissolving into a torrent of tears.

"Bulma, what's wrong?"

"What's wrong? WHAT'S WRONG?!" Bulma shrieked.

Daiz did his best to escort the utterly incensed bluenette out of the posh dining facility while dodging several well-aimed slaps. He was clueless as to what had upset her as just moments before they had been relishing a delicious meal and enjoying each other's company.

"I thought we were having a pleasant.." the dark green-haired pirate began.

"Which one of you did it? Which one of you MONSTERS killed MY YAMCHA!"

The former prince felt his heart sink as the enraged Earth female demanded a response to her painful query.

In Otherworld:

"YEAH! THAT'S IT BABE! WHOOO! You finally snapped out of his spell!" Yamcha crowed.

The scar-faced warrior couldn't hide his elation at Bulma's sudden disgust of his rival for her attentions.

Tien and Chiatzou put in their approval as well as they cheered Yamcha on.

"Go ahead! TELL HER WHAT HAPPENED!" the desert fighter sneered.

"Hey! Yamcha, you know that..." Goku started.

"NO, Goku! Bulma doesn't need to be involved with THE CREEP WHO MURDERED ME!" Yamcha bellowed...

...

An astonished Chi-Chi watched as Turles almost succeeded in bringing Gohan under control just to be cast aside like an annoying fly. For all his power Turles was beginning to have difficulty deflecting his youthful opponent's attacks. Gohan's strange transformation must have had something to do with the newfound strength and speed he now displayed.

Turles only meant to subdue the son of Kakarot. Gohan had no such limitations when it came to Turles, every strike was delivered full-force. The PTO deserter imagined he was going to be none too pleased with his appearance later considering the wallops he'd endured thus far. Did the hybrid's confused state give him the annoying propensity to aim blows to the face?

Their previous position was suddenly reversed with Gohan trying in earnest to crush Turles's windpipe. The brunette realized if her son succeeded in ending the life of the misbegotten pirate she would be stranded on this bizarre planet with Gohan. In his berserker mindset due to the virus he would probably kill her next!

Chi-Chi managed to break Gohan's deadly hold. Turles nodded in approval as the Ox-princess held her own for several moments. She was able to get in several blows before Gohan viscously backhanded her. The livid half-ling vented his fury on his mother by seizing her right arm, wrenching it hard and slinging her towards the base of the falls. Turles was there just before Chi-Chi hit the deadly rocks. Goku's widow gave him a bewildered look as he caught her easily and gently set her down a fair distance from the angry demi-Saiyan. Gohan roared in outrage at the interference and sought to finish the task of ending Turles.

Pain radiated from Chi-Chi's right shoulder, she could only watch helplessly as Turles fought to get the upper hand once more. Merciless laughter emanated from the Saiyan mixed blood as he continued his brutal attack on the former commander of the Crusher Corps. The sheer force of his kicks and punches made Turles's blocks futile. He was literally the brat's punching bag. It was a bitter pill for Turles to swallow having to come to grips with the fact that Gohan's power dwarfed that of his own at the present time. There was a very real chance that he and Kakarot's mate could meet their end at the hands of the child-warrior.

Well Turles was not the type to rely just on the basis of his strength and power. The crafty brigand was far too devious to limit his options in such a manner. Wiping the blood and sweat from his eyes Turles reached into the small pouch at his waist. Tachila spice cost a small fortune and was most appetizing on poorly seasoned meats but it caused considerable irritation when exposed to the delicate tissues of one's eyes...

Gohan plowed into the elder Saiyan once more with his fists not paying any attention to the orange cloud of dust that drifted around him. Turles squeezed his eyes shut as he flung the potent spice into the face of his attacker. The battle was forsaken as a howling Gohan clawed at his eyes and nose.

The sharp eyes of the dark-skinned Saiyan immediately noticed as Gohan's hair faded back to its original hue. Turles smugly realized that Gohan had still not mastered complete control of his transformation into the legendary.

Gohan stumbled back blindly causing him to stand backwards just at the shore of the rushing waters. Chi-Chi screamed in horror as a monstrous green reptile burst from the currents and snapped her son up in its jaws and disappeared.

With a loud curse the battle-weary Turles plunged in after the scaled nightmare.

Chi-Chi stood holding her shoulder at the shore with tears streaming down her face as blood and bubbles came to the water's surface...

Until the next chapter!
