...

Chi-Chi sighed in relief as she heard the message transmitted over Turles's scouter. Help was on the way!

Relief was evident in the Saiyan pirate's expression as well before he resumed the stony persona he normally displayed.

No matter what her personal feelings were about Turles the brunette had seen ample proof that the hellish brigand had true concern for Gohan's well-being. She still hated him with every fiber of her existence but she would tolerate the Saiyan for now for Gohan's sake. Her son needed expert medical care and Turles was the means for it to be provided for him...

...

Daiz sat down with a heavy sigh he'd tried persuading Bulma to speak to him once more. He could easily force his way into her quarters but he wanted her doing so out of her own free will. They'd gotten along so splendidly, the Kabochan couldn't imagine what had made the bluenette suddenly erupt in anger during their wonderful meal. He remembered the grisly events on the planet Earth all too well but what occurred that brought them back to Bulma's thoughts?

Hard-hearted as he could be, Gartoas couldn't help but feel a bit of empathy for his crewmate. The former prince had not had an easy time of it when it came to the fairer sex. One woman had been charmed away by the Saiyan pirate, another simply waited for her chance to destroy him and now the Earth female was lashing out for some reason or another.

"If'n Turles could snag ah woman wi' as black as is' heart is Ahm' sure there's one o' 'em fer' ya somewheres. Ya jus' ain't found em' yet, " the burly Kardanagan declared.

"I'm not so sure about that anymore," Daiz said wistfully.

...

Now Bulma was livid and hungry! Maybe she should have finished her dinner before giving Daiz a piece of her mind. The utterly heartbroken look on the dark green-haired pirate's face had almost weakened her resolve. But she had to stick to her guns and make him answer for slaughtering Yamcha. He wouldn't admit who was personally responsible for the z-fighter's death so HE must be the one with Yamcha's blood on his hands. Besides having a relationship with Daiz was a betrayal of everyone on Earth she'd held dear.

Bulma lowered her head in shame as she realized she actually did feel some affection for Turles's second in command. A low growl came from her stomach protesting its lack of nourishment. Maybe she could sneak a small bite to eat from the food preparation area Daiz was probably too crushed to bother her for a while. An even louder rumble emanated from her midsection she'd better alleviate the situation before they heard her all the way out to the bridge!

The young scientist cautiously peeped out as her door slid open. No one was in sight, she'd just grab a little something and be back in her room in a flash...

...

Chi-Chi bit her lip as she watched Turles gently place Gohan on the gurney-like device that lifted from the ground and glided into the shuttle. Then he turned to face her , "Get aboard the shuttle we're leaving."

Goku's widow noticed that Saiyan genetics were already at work erasing the evidence of Gohan's brutal assault on the pirate commander's face. His split lip was scabbed over and the purplish black bruises were mostly faded.

To the daughter of the Ox-king's surprise Turles directed her to a seat that was just across from where Gohan lay. The "gurney" was securely fastened to a wall of the shuttle.

Chi-Chi's was completely taken aback when she heard the Saiyan's words before he took his own seat, "Your assistance was most appreciated."

The spiky-haired warrior then fell silent as he observed the takeoff procedures...

...

Bulma found a few tasty items in the refrigeration unit and scarfed down two of what appeared to be like small sandwiches of some sort. She then reached for a juicy piece of fruit she knew to be an Nari-apple. The former heiress whirled around as she literally felt a presence behind her. Of course it had to be the last person she wanted to see-Daiz.

"Bulma, we need to talk about..."

"Stay away from me! You HAD your chance to tell me the truth! I'm not listening to any lies you've managed to put together now!" Bulma hissed.

"Come on, Bulma! I thought we had something good between us," Daiz protested.

He tried to reach for her hand..

The sound of a hard slap actually echoed in the food-prep area. A stricken Daiz reached for his reddened right cheek. Completely forgetting the fruit, Bulma fled from the room.

...

A team of medics rushed Gohan from the shuttle into a large medical facility. Everything was sterile white and brightly lit. Chi-Chi was led to what she perceived was a waiting area by a kindly purple being that resembled a frog in a crisp white uniform. The frog-ling pointed out a seating area and a small table which held small cakes and fruits as well as liquid refreshment.

"Someone will speak to you about the child soon," the alien spoke in a male voice utilizing Galactic Standard.

The mother of Gohan had lost sight of Turles but he was sure to appear eventually. With a sigh she sank into one of the plush immaculately white seats. Now all she could do was wait...

...

"Ya ave' any luck wi'...?" Gartoas never completed his question as he caught sight of the red imprint on the Kabochan pirate's face as he silently crossed the bridge to head for his personal quarters. The former thief didn't miss the glimmer of light that reflected tears.

'Ahm not goin' ta tell im' Ah told ya so evin' ifn' Ah did. But damn, she hits 'ard fer' a lil' thing!' the Kardanagan mused.

Until the next chapter!
