Chapter 4

Volkossah's Past And A Request

After me and Saphira were following Eragon for what seemed like hours in the evening hours, we finally heard Eragon called out to us.

"Saphira, Volkossah!" We heard Eragon called us out using telepathy as we saw pictures of Saphira's rider looking up in the sky and in a small clearing with trees around them. I know I will not be able to fit, cause I am bigger than Saphira in size though. She may be slightly smaller in size compared to me, but Saphira is a tough young dragon though. I snapped out of my thought as I heard Saphira call back.

"We're on our way little one." Saphira purred in affection as she roared out. I followed Saphira as I let out my own roar, but my roar sounded different from a standard dragon's roar. It sounded like a hybrid of a dragon's roar, and a phoenix's screech mixed in with a hiss of a sea serpent.

It didn't take us long to find Eragon's scent, as we both slowed down. While Saphira doved first, I saw no more room for me to land in the clearing after the sapphire dragon landed. So I just hover in place, looking down at the small space below me.

"So this is your dragon, tell me Eragon what did you name her?" Brom questioned Eragon as my four wings was starting to get very sore. Saphira felt my discomfort, while Eragon was busy talking to the storyteller.

"I have named her Saphira. It was the only name that she liked out of the rest of the names that you gave me. Saphira is Brom, he knows all about dragons." Eragon answered as Brom sighed in sadness. I didn't know why he was sad, but before Brom could say anything Saphira chimed in.

"Know about dragons, you say, I will be the judge of that." Saphira playful roared out as Brom was fascinated at Eragon's dragon, he began to examine her. This causes me to snarl at the storyteller for an unknown reason, properly because she is the last female Alagaesia dragon. Not including Shyiexkos, who is my race's enemy. Before the storyteller could examine Saphira, I rudely cut in.

"Excuse me, can I fucking landed?... Like now." I roared out as I felt my wings was getting very tired. While I felt Saphira's connection, her thoughts entered mine. Allowing her to feel my hate for Eragon and Brom ignoring me, it was all for nothing as they kept talking.

"Of all the names you could have chosen, you choose Saphira?" Brom was surprisingly calm as I was about to unleash my parasitic darkness on the old one.

"Enough, if I can't rest my fucking wings right now. I will infect Alagaesia in a second with my parasitic darkness." I roared out in rage as I interrupted Brom and Eragon conversation. While I felt my parasitic darkness burst to life, causing me to look like a demonic dragon. Saphira was surprised as she looked up at me and saw me surrounded in a dark aura while Eragon fell on his ass. Brom was in shock as he looked up at me and saw a dark demonic-like dragon. While I felt a massive amount of dark energy that was rising from me as Brom and Eragon were staring at me. Saphira knows that if I do not land then the only hope for Alagaesia can go bye-bye.

"Stop bickering like hatchlings and let Volkossah land or else." Saphira roared out in anger as Brom snapped out of his shocked state. Cursing, the storyteller looked at Eragon as he didn't want to anger a dragoness.

"Alright you two, move out of this clearing so Volkossah can land." Brom ordered Eragon as he grabbed Eragon's upper left arm and proceeded to drag him out of the way. Saphira was satisfied with Brom as she began backing up away from the clearing.

"Hey what's the big idea Brom?" Eragon asked as he was forced out by Brom while Saphira give me room to land.

"Eragon, move! So Volkossah can land or you will face Saphira's fury." Brom quietly whispered as he and Eragon stepped out of my landing area, while Saphira was already out of the clearing. I proceeded to descent to the ground, without the two humans pointless argue over something stupid. After I landed, my four wings were a little sore as I folded them against my body but I can deal with the pain for now. While the pain subsided my parasitic darkness desperate for now.

"Thank you, Brom for moving Eragon. Before I could lose control over myself and start to destroy everything in my sight." I thanked the storyteller as I hummed in happiness, while Saphira wanted an explanation. Brom and Eragon didn't know what happened to me, but I know that they want answers about my past. After I did not receive a 'welcome' from the storyteller, I know that I have to give an explanation to them.

"I guess that you three deserve an explanation about my past, with the way that you're looking at me right?" I asked as I growled nervously, shafting my front claws side to side. I was afraid of what Brom and Eragon would think about me, I know that Saphira will accept me. I just hope that Saphira will understand what I did to survive.

"Yes that would be good to know Volkossah." I heard Brom was not happy as I saw his hand on his sword, ready to slice me if I say anything that can harm the Alagaesia dragon race. I needed to be careful on what I say, cause one slip up can cost my alliance with Brom. Before Eragon could speak his mind, I answered his question.

"Eragon don't, I know what you will ask and I have answer. But don't judge me insteadly, just listen to what I have to say first. Are we clear?" I asked as I got a nod from Eragon and Brom, while Saphira layed down. I take a deep breath, trying to calm my nerves and think on what to say first.

"Yes we're clear, going on." Saphira answered for Eragon and Brom as they sat down on the soil to the right of Saphira, wanting from me to start. I mention to calm myself as I was ready to tell that about my past

"As you all know I'm a parasitic dragon, it's a forbidden race. But there is a lot more to it than that. Before Alagaesia was created, there was Skyvossik, a world that was before Alagaesia. It was a war torn world between the dark dragon and light dragon clans, my ancestors have been in the shadows waiting. Away from the eternal war for generations to strike. It was the most bloody and violence war in history, it was worse than the fall of the riders.

There were two dark gods: Zvxcossak and Zikydralinrcx both were fighting for control over Skyvossik. One wanted to control Skyvossik through fear and the other just wanted to survive. There were three other clans: The fire clan, wyvern's tribe and parasitic clan, all three of them were in the crossfire of the holy light and the dark one's clan. The war lasted until my ancestors stopped Zvxcossak from annihilating my race by becoming the successes of Zikydralinrcx the parasitic demonic god. After that the Parasitic race moved to an underground city called Parlyilies Dracoiyz in the dark language. The dark language is very ancient in Skyvossik, the ancient language is based on words of truth while the dark language is based on dark and forbidden spells. After Alagaesia was formed, the history of Alagaesia started to unfold on its own. I hatched from my egg two years ago, but the first thing that I saw was that my parents lay dead from starvation along with my whole race. I didn't have a chance to meet my parents, or have a hatchling hood with them. But in order to survive I had to eat my kind. I was either going to die or survive. After that I learned about the history of Alagaesia and my own race. I also learn how to defeat myself on my own. I don't feel comfortable enough to tell you about parasitic darkness, but I will tell you that I'm a prince of the parasitic race, my parents Zlhydraxs and Risahydra were the last king and queen. They died two day ago, just before I hatched. They were the rulers of my race as I was the last parasitic dragon egg laid thousands of years ago. It lay dormant until the right time for me to hatch. Every one of my kind had a parasite born within them hint the name: parasitic. In order to get my parasitic darkness under control, I must go to my home and search for Dark Blood, a tone that can hopefully prevent me from becoming a mindless slave hellbent on infecting Alagaesia. Saphira has absorbed a small amount of parasitic energy, but it has not affected her much. The rest you know. Zylydra is a parasite that was born within me and Shyiexkos is the last white dragon of the holy light clan. Who is hellbent on ending my race." I finally ended the very lengthy and long lecture about my history, past and my royal heritage. As Saphira, Eragon and Brom were shocked to hear that I was prince of my race and the fact that there was a world filled with dragons before Alagaesia. Neither Eragon and Brom could speak up, so Saphira chimed in.

"Wait, what! You're royalty?" Saphira was stunned as I saw her starting to drool over me. I notice to sun started to slowly descend over to the forest as I looked up at the sky. I know that I would have Saphira all over me as I could tell she faecys me already.

"Yes I am, but since I'm the last parasitic dragon alive I guess that makes me a king now." I answered nervously as Saphira managed to stop drooling before Eragon or Brom noticed. Brom cut in next as he sighed in defeat.

"Even though you've eaten your own kind, I can see what you had to do to survive. Also I'm surprised that you are royalty, a prince of parasitic dragon Volkossah." Brom was mixed in emotion, he did not know what to think about me, Eragon too. But Saphira respects me and is my first friend beside Eragon.

"Personally Volkossah, I don't care what you do to survive. As long as you don't harm no other dragons besides the king's. Can you promise me that?" Eragon asked as I thought about it, I know that if I promise that to the young rider then I will have to keep it.

"Yes, I promise." I answered as Saphira purred in happiness at my response to Eragon's question. Brom that clears his throat, as that grabs our attention.

"I hope that you can take care of yourself Volkossah, because we will be heading to Therinsford first, before continuing onwards." Brom satiated as I snorted in disbelief at the old one. I didn't know why the storyteller thought that I'm a weak dragon, but I will show him wrong.

"I can take care of myself, thank you very much. And besides, do you think that I'm a hatchling?" I replied sarcasmly as Eragon looked straight at Brom. The old one shook his head in annoyance at my words as he silently looked at me. The old one then removed something from his pack and I saw him thrust something in Eragon's lap.

"Here if you're planning on taking on the mantle of the dragon riders, you might as well use this." Brom replied as me and Saphira watched the exchange of words between the two. I saw Eragon slowly remove the cloth from the object, revealing a sword. A hilt of silver with a gold pommel extended from a long red sheath, a ruby the size of a small dragon egg was engraved into a pommel of the handle. A black symbol was etched into the sheath, Eragon slowly drew the blade and upon seeing the blade he saw that it revealed a red iridescent metal. Wordless he turn to Brom

"Why give me this?" Eragon asked, speechless at the blade's craftsmanship. I felt the blade has some dark power to it, it's like feeling an evil presence from my mind.

"This is the Rider's blade, when their training is finished, the elves would craft a sword for the rider. Their forge methods are a secret, however once finished. The swords remained eternally sharp and will never be stained. Their custom is to match the rider's blade to their dragon's scales, But we can make an exception in this case." Brom pointed out as we all saw Eragon swing the blade experimentally.

"Where do you get it?" Eragon asked, sliding the sword back into its sheath. As Eragon held it out for Brom to take back while unsure that the storyteller wanted it back, Brom didn't move to take it back from Eragon.

"That's not important Eragon, consider it yours. You have more claim to it than me. After I teach you everything that I know, you will need it." I was kind of surprised that Brom is allowing Eragon to keep this sword. Eragon was caught off guard by Brom's offer, I couldn't blame him.

"It's a precious gift, thank you. By the way, I've been meaning to ask how you're able to speak with Saphira and Volkossah?" Eragon asked bring his new sword closer to him as he looked at the sheath.

"If you must know, anyone can speak to a dragon with proper training. Plus it doesn't mean anything to them if they can, I know more about dragons and their abilities that they in heritage then almost anyone alive. I'm giving my knowledge to you as a shortcut. The long route would take years to master on your own Eragon. How do I know so much about dragons? I like that to keep to myself." Brom stated as Saphira moved closer to her rider, Eragon showed her the sword. As that was happening, I cut in.

"Brom I respect that you know so much about dragons. But you know nothing about my species, I can guarantee you that. Not to disrespect you." I pointed out that I respect Brom for his knowledge about dragons. Brom smiled as he looked up at me with hope in his eyes.

"You are not disrespecting me Volkossah. That is true I know nothing about your species, but I would like to know more about the parasitic race." Brom stated as I was purred in happiness at his request, I nodded my head as I saw Saphira touch the sword with her snout.

"I can sense it has power within." Saphira remarked as the metal of the sword rippled like it was made of water. Saphira snorted in satisfaction as she removed her nose from the sword, that movement returned the sword back to normal. Eragon slid the sword back into its sheath with a troubled expression, while I was confused as to how a piece of metal would react like that.

"These are the sort of things I'm talking about Eragon, Dragon's will constantly amazed you. Strange things happen around them, the riders and their dragons worked together for centuries. Still to this very day the riders don't fully understand their abilities, what Saphira just showed illustrates my points. There is much that you don't know about them." Brom stated as I was surprised that things can happen around both dragons and their riders.

"Yes that include you Volkossah, you have these dragon abilities too. Even though you're a different kind of dragon you still have these abilities." I title my head in confusion at what Brom said to me. Saphira was confused as she looked at me, while I noticed a long pause between Eragon and Brom's conversation.

"That may be true, but I can learn. These strangers are the most important thing to me right now, so my questions are. Who are they and where do they come from?" Eragon asked, as he wanted to know his enemies before taking his vengeance.

"The creatures are known as Ra'zac, they are some of the foulest creatures to walk in Alagaesia. Despite their appearance nothing is remotely human about them, little is known about them too. Only that they have never been seen in Alagaesia before Galbatorix took the throne for himself, proclaiming himself king. Ra'zac faces have black eyes that are the size of a fist and bird-like beak instead of a human mouth. Their speech is a mystery, but they are stronger than most humans but are unable to use magic. Their one weakness is the sunlight, the Ra'zac like to stay in the darkness but it will not stop them from trying." Brom explained as we listened to the storyteller, I could feel Eragon's anger boiling over due to my connection with Saphira while Brom was about to confront him.

Saphira created a link connection with me after I spent time with her in The Spine. The sapphire dragon asked my permission to look into my thoughts and feelings without my permission which I agreed to. I snapped out of my thoughts as Eragon finally couldn't contain himself anymore.

"Who are you? How can a storyteller from a mere village know so much about dragons? Why do you have a rider's sword in the first place and know about the Ra'zac?" Eragon asked, screaming at Brom as he rapidly fired off multiple questions after another.

"I made it perfectly clear that I wasn't talking about this." Brom tipped his pipe in annoyance. I scoffed at Eragon's attempt to get answers from the storyteller, so I had to step in the conversion.

"Eragon leave Brom the fuck alone, if he doesn't want to answer. Then he doesn't have to, also do me a favor and shut the fuck up before you pissed me off." I roar out a warning for Eragon as my parasitic darkness slightly rises within me. Eragon shook his head in anger as he was about to argue back, but Saphira cut in next.

"Eragon don't ever think about it, Volkossah is right. Leave Brom alone or you will have me and Volkossah to deal with, I know that you don't want two angry dragons on you little one." Saphira growls at her rider to let this go and move on. Eragon sigh in defeat, he knows that arguing with me and Saphira will cause us to be angry at the young rider.

"Saphira and Volkossah are right, you know. You need to focus on your training that I will be teaching you then the details. Let me worry about that Eragon, so you can worry about your training ahead." Brom stated as he watched Eragon walk over to a tree and lay down, who was probably thinking about what we all say to the young rider.

"Hey Brom, can I ask you a request." I politely asked while Saphira walk over and laid down next to her rider. I heard Eragon cry a little bit as I laid down in front of Saphira, while Brom moved to my left side.

"Sure Volkossah, as long as it doesn't hinder our route." Brom gave me permission to speak my mind about my request. I just hope that Brom will let me get what I need.

"I need go back to my home Parlyilies Dracoiyz for the dark blood tone. To see if there's a way to control my parasitic darkness, lucky it is between here and Therinsford. It's about one mile ahead of us, if we can go there that is. Plus I didn't tell Eragon nor Saphira about this but half of my power is sealing within Parlyilies Dracoiyz, if the dark blood does not work then the statue of Zikdralinrcx will. Because half of it is inside that statue." As I stated my request, I could tell that Brom was thinking about this request as he sat down next to me. Lucky Brom gave me the answer that I was looking for.

"Sure we can, as long as it will not take a long time to complete." I was happy that Brom gave me his permission to go to my home. But unknown to me Shyiexkos was watching me nearby with a snarl, she knows that I will be unstoppable once I become a parasitic demonic god. The ruler of all parasitic dragons and the most powerful dragon of this time.

Shyiexkos better watch her fucking tail, cause when I restore myself to full power. I will use everything within my power to kill the last dragon of the light clan, and claim the parasitic throne for my race. I looked into the night as I thought that, whatever happens tomorrow will be interesting to say the least. I know Eragon has training, but first the young rider needs to calm down. Before he does something reckless and stupid that he will regret later.
