A/N: I do not own anything related to Dinosaur King. Just my OCs.
"Please. Help us. Please, help us. Save us." The voices echoed within the heads of the chosen teenagers.
"How? How can we help?" Anderson asked the voices, pushing buttons on his Dino Holder in an effort to help but nothing happened.
"Can you at least tell us who are you?" Tyler offered.
"Maybe they can't hear us," Tiffany suggested.
"A one-way communication?" Cole questioned.
"We just got these stones yesterday and more weird stuff is happening already?" Jackson exasperated.
"I hope we aren't getting into something dangerous," Kierra thought aloud.
The glowing continued for a while until it finally ended. Spencer slowly walked up to the kids, trying not to getting elemental properties. "Uh, kids? Is there a problem with your Dino Holders?"
"Dad, it's talking to us!" Anderson exclaimed as Tate shook his head free of the glow.
"Wait, you're serious?!" the paleontologist asked before getting nods from the six teens. He then grew a smile on his face, "Yes! I was right! In your face, Fiona!" He pictured him gloating in from the scientist's face.
The six teens sweat dropped at the celebration the paleontologist's claim before a voice spoke up.
"That was an odd ringing."
Everyone, including the overjoyed paleontologist, began to survey the area. "Who said that?" Anderson said which everyone shrugged.
"I did." The voice spoke again.
"Very funny," Cole said, unamused.
"What's funny?"
This question caused confusion in with the teenagers and dad.
"Uh... what are you talking about?" Tyler said to the voice.
"Well, all I'm doing is trying to get Anderson's attention so I don't see what's funny."
Anderson soon made a realization, "Wait..." He soon met eyes with Tate.
"Finally."
"You can talk?"
"I mean my lips aren't moving but yes... in a sense."
Everyone soon turned eyes the miniature t-rex, eyes going wide at the realization.
"... What?" Tate said, head tilting in confusion at the state of the humans. "Was it something I said?"
Later that evening, night came again. But elsewhere, another skirmish was about to take place.
At the old abandoned carnival ground in Japan, two gangs composed of six people were circling each other.
"You ready to get beat?" One said, threatening the rival gang.
"You're the one about to get beat!" One on the other side said. He brought out a stereo above the only working lamp-post. It began to play hip-hop music before the second rival gang began to break-dance. After their performance, the first rival gang started their own choreography, outshining the rival gang.
On a stick of land, a patch of turned up dirt was being dug up by a dog. The canine found an odd object shaped like an egg. The dog bit into the egg capsule and opened it up. Inside the capsule was a grey outline card and a yellow card with the Lightning symbol on the back. A breeze of wind caused took the duo of cards towards an opened circuit board with exposed wiring, possibly from a looting or trashing.
The exposed wiring caused the cards to transform and take the appearance of the dinosaur within: a large orange Triceratops with a white underbelly, yellow and white pattern mixture on its frill, and a dark orange line down his spine.
The Triceratops shook his head before roaring to signal his appearance. His roar caused the dog to flee at the sight of the reptile and the two rival gangs to cease their breakdancing and slightly shuddered.
"Ha! Nice try dude! But I know you're behind that noise!" The first rival gang leader accused.
"Us?! It's obviously you!" the second rival gang leader retorted before butting heads.
The Triceratops soon saw a shine of light. Curious, the ceratopsian walked over before noticing figures. He heard some odd unintelligible words coming from some black rock which confused the dinosaur before roaring and stomping it. The stomp caused the stereo to break before shaking his head as if he was showing his horns.
"AHHHH! A dinosaur!" The gang leaders cried in fear before hugging each other, forgetting about their petty feud for whatever reason it may be. The two gangs left in a hurry, leaving dust clouds behind. The Triceratops became confused at seeing the two-legged creatures leave in a hurry before finding a fresh patch of grass to graze on.
At the D-Lab, the chosen ones were currently trying to figure out more about the stones and the fact that Tate could now talk through, what Spencer called, telepathy. The Dino Holders were all laid out on a desk with Jackson, Cole, and Mr. Merlos looking at them, while Anderson, Tyler, Tiffany, and Kierra were enthralled by Tate's prehistoric tale.
'So, I was one of the best in my litter,' Tate boasted, "Not scared of the sharpest horns of a Triceratops, the largest Alamosaurus, and even took down a few Pteradons since they thought there were smug about flying."
"Interesting," Anderson said, intrigued by the story.
"Of course, you should have seen my sister, Sue."
"Sue?" Tiffany asked.
'Yep. My big sister,' Tate said before reminiscing about his sister, "She got to be so big that almost everyone had to flee. Even the sauropods feared her."
"Wait," Tyler stopped the story, "As in Sue the largest T-Rex fossil recorded to date?!"
"Well, yeah. I guess when you put it like that..." Tate sweat-dropped before shaking his head, "Anyway, now that I can talk, can I ask you something?"
"Go for it."
"Where exactly is everyone?" The t-rex questioned, "Like I'm not seeing any hardosaurs, raptors, pterosaurs, even sauropods. Except that Arcocanthosaurus that went by the name Arthur."
"Wait, you understood the Arcocanthosaurus?" Anderson asked.
"Duh. Just because I'm a beast, doesn't mean I can't talk to other dinosaurs like me," Tate said in a matter-of-fact tone.
"Why didn't you tell him not to eat me or you then?!" His summoner cried.
"He said it was his job or something. Plus Arthur didn't seem like any regular Acrocanthosaurus I've seen before."
"Interesting."
Spencer got the full story about the stones from Jackson and Cole after they told their story.
"So, it was asking you six for help?" Spencer recalled.
"Yeah. Could it be possible the stones are connected to the dinosaur's extinction?" Cole thought, "Is that how we were able to communicate with them?"
"And what's this about extinction?" Tate asked, overhearing the term, "Like is that a word you humans use for something? And does it correlate with dinosaurs because I have often heard it used with it."
Everyone gulped at the mention of the Tyrannosaurus Rex's mention of extinction.
"Well, the thing is..." Anderson started before explaining the whole situation. After explaining it, Tate look crestfallen.
"So that would me... my mate, my children, my family... are all gone..."
Tate was then enveloped by a hug from Anderson, "You're not alone anymore. We could be your new family or pack. If you choose to have us."
The miniature dinosaur thought about what the hu- no, Anderson had to say. And he was touched by the option, "Of course." Anderson smiled at the acceptance...
Before going into a deep thought. He wondered what made the Acrocanthosaurus so powerful. How those three buffoons managed to control Arthur. And what was that thing with fire that Tate performed. The many questions were beginning to give Merlos a headache.
"Tiffany!" The group turned to see Fiona coming down the stairs. "Must I remind you, you're supposed to call before stopping by?"
The female blonde mentally slapped herself, "Right. Sorry, I forgot."
"Whatever, just remember next time, OK?" Fiona sighed before seeing Tate for the first time. "I take it this is Tate?"
'Hi, new human,' Tate said through telepathy before the scientist went wide eyed.
"... Huh, that's... new... Dr. Merlos, I believe you mentioned it was just a miniature dinosaur," Fiona pointed out.
"The talking part is more of a recent development," Kierra said.
The Dino Holder soon began to blink in a rapid succession. The noise caused everyone to gather around the devices. "Why is there a blinking light?" Anderson asked.
"It means another dinosaur has appeared," Fiona said.
"This late?!" Kierra whined.
"What's the deal with that Fiona?" Tiffany asked her sister.
"There's still much we don't know about the stones and cards," Fiona explained, "So every time we make a new discovery we'll then add it to your manual."
"So our Dino Holders will tell us when and where the dinosaur appeared," Cole pieced together.
Observing the location closer, Tyler was able to pinpoint where the signal was, "It's coming from the abandoned carnival!"
"That old place?" Jackson said.
"It's a possibility that the dinosaur cards are scattered everywhere."
"Yeah, at least fate is being kind to us about this one..." Tiffany muttered, not wanting to think of the possibility of where other potential dinosaurs might be.
"Well then, let's get going!" Anderson declared before his dad intercepted his path.
"Not so fast young man," the paleontologist said, "After this hectic day, I reckon you should rest."
"But, dad," his son whined, "If we don't get to the dinosaur first, it could wind up in the hands of those creeps!"
"I understand your concern," Dr. Merlos said, "But I doubt they even know where this dinosaur is."
Cole thought for awhile before speaking, "Actually, that's not true." Everyone turned to the Latino. "It seemed like they knew where Tate was, seeing how... Arthur appeared and nearly wrecked the coast just to find him. They may have the same technology as us come to think of it. At least that's my working theory."
"So what you are saying is that they could be on our trail of finding other dinosaurs?" Jackson voiced which Cole nodded.
"It's a possibility. Maybe the stones were referring to the old lady and two other men when they said save us," Tiffany mused.
In a forest, a certain idiotic trio (no, not that trio) were currently strolling through with a flashlight. One head turned before growling, "I am not an old lady!" She shook her fist in the direction of the claim but her two henchmen gave her confused looks.
"Uh, Ursula?" Zander questioned.
"Who are you yelling at?" Ed followed up.
Ursula's anger dispersed before waving off her teammates confusion, "Oh, uh, uh... it's nothing," before a serious expression appeared on her face, "Any luck finding the dinosaur?"
Zander looked to their Alpha Scanner, "Well, we should be close to it any minute now."
"Great!"
"But Arthur still needs more time to recover from his battle this afternoon," Ed chimed in which made the 'team leader' get up-close and personal.
"Well, see to it! We only have one dinosaur for battling right now!" Ursula snarled before recalling something, "It's a shame that our other two dinos are currently unavailable."
"More details coming soon," Zander whispered to an imaginary audience which made Ed wonder if his teammates were going crazy.
"I would rather not invoke the doctor's anger, especially after our last transmission," Ursula continued as the trio began to ripple into a flashback.
"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU LOST?!" Dr. Z shouted over the communications.
"Well, you see doctor-" Ursula began in a sweet voice before she was cut off by an angry Dr. Z.
"I WASN'T ASKING!" the doctor said, "YOU BUFFOONS WERE SUPPOSE TO BE THE ONLY ONES WITH DINOSAURS! HOW DID THIS HAPPEN!"
"Well, it may have to do with the fact that the kid had a T-re-" Ed began before Zander cupped his hand over the former's mouth in hope the doctor didn't here that.
"Eh? What was that about a kid?" Doctor Z said, having overheard the portly man.
"Oh, it's nothing," Ursula said to disillusion the doctor which failed.
"SOME BRATTY KID AS ONE OF MY DINOSAURS!" the doctor's anger returned and the trio recoiled.
"Well, he also had a move card," Ed pointed out, further enraging the 'king.'
"A MOVE CARD TOO?! MOVE CARDS ARE MY SPECIALTY!"
The doctor then used some... colorful language that only the trio heard before the doctor ran out of steam and calmed himself.
"Well, if a snotty kid has my cards, then we need Move Cards of our own!" the doctor declared, "Luckily I already am working on a few." Dr. Z, while still holding the Alpha Scanner, gazed into a lava lamp like container that was glowing rather brighter than usual.
"Here it comes! My ultimate creation!" He boasted.
The end of the sentence was met with an explosion that turned the transmission into static. The static soon disappeared and Dr. Z was covered in soot.
"Uh, Doctor?" Ursula questioned.
"*Cough* Needs work," the 'king' said before pointing at the trio, "Now, go see if you can steal the dinosaur from the brats!"
"Yes sir!" the trio saluted as the transmission ended for good this time.
"So that's what we are going to do!" Zander proclaimed. His proclamation was met with a blinking sound on the Alpha Scanner. "Ah! A dinosaur has appeared!"
This caught Ursula's attention. "Hmmm?"
"It's located around here," Ed mentioned.
"Excellent work!" Ursula said, "With Arthur almost back to full health, we should be able to snag this dinosaur! And if the brats show up, we will have the chance to bring Dr. Z two dinosaurs!"
On a road, a jeep consisting of the teenagers and Spencer -basically he suggested that he should come along to make sure the kids are safe... and to see the new dinosaur, but the former mostly- on their way to the signal.
"Are we close yet?" Tiffany yawned.
Cole looked at his Dino Holder, "Just a few more feet."
"I can't wait to see what dinosaur it is!" Anderson said with starry eyes.
"Yeah," Tyler spoke up, "It might be one of our partners!"
"Who's do you think it is?" Kierra asked.
"Well, if it's a herbivore, I call dibs!" Tyler excitedly said.
"We don't know that for sure," Jackson brought up, "It could be another carnivore."
"Oh please," the blonde dismissed, "I'm pretty some of the herbivores caught turned into cards too. It makes logically sense."
Jackson was about to respond but the jeep came to a sudden halt. Luckily, everyone had their seatbelts on before Anderson asked his dad, "Why did we stop?"
Spencer didn't respond as he just pointed in front of him. The teenagers turned their eyes and noticed what the paleontologist pointed to: the Triceratops, in the flesh. He had wandered close enough to the road and was currently browsing on a bush nearby.
"Woah! A Triceratops!" Tyler identified with starry eyes. This was his favorite dinosaur and it was right before him.
"So.. what know?" Kierra said the thing that was on everyone's mind.
"I... don't know?" Jackson let out.
"Do we just have Anderson send out Tate and battle?" Cole thought aloud.
"Well... it's the best plan we have so far..." Tiffany deduced before she gestured to Anderson.
"Alright!" the brunette said before pulling out Tate's card.
"DINO SLASH! FLAME UP, TYRANNOSAURS REX!"
Tate appeared in his full size with a roar before seeing the horned dinosaur before him. "Looks like I get to have Triceratops tonight!"
"Wait, Tate!" his summoner said, "We just want him to turn back into a card!"
"So, no eating?" the rex whined.
"No eating."
"Oh... fine. I'm still new to this...," the Fire element agreed before roaring again to scare the ceratopsian. The trike saw his opponent before snorting and pawing the ground, indicating he was going to charge.
The orange dinosaur roared before charging headfirst and ramming the stomach of the theropod. Tate grunted his teeth, the horns not piercing his skin but still hurting. In an act of defense, the rex latched onto a horn of the Triceratops before throwing him away. The ceratopsian was tumbling on the asphalt road before picking himself up and snorting with defiance at the carnivore.
"Heh," Tate smirked with a cocky attitude, "That all you got?"
Clearly irritated and insulting, the 'three-horned face' roared again before charging horns-first. Tate this time swung his tail but the ceratopsian ducked underneath and chomped into the tail of the theropod.
"Hey!" the rex roared, "Let go!"
The trike proved to have a better grip on the tail and began to pull Tate with his strength. Swinging him around and with a strong toss, the 'tyrant king' lizard was thrown into the woods. The Triceratops let out a roar, thinking the fight is over.
"Tate!" Anderson shouted before chasing after him.
"I would have never guessed that a Triceratops would have that much strength," Cole commented.
"Well, now we know," Tiffany added.
"What now?" Kierra brought attention to situation, "I'm sure Tate's still out there but with Anderson gone, how do we take care of the Triceratops?"
Everyone began to think about what should be done but failed to notice Tyler slowly approaching the horned dinosaur.
Eventually, Jackson noticed their blonde friend making his way to the Triceratops. "Tyler! Stop!"
Tyler didn't hear him but the trike did. The ceratopsian turned around to face the two-legged mammal but it seemed to be have placating the herbivore. "It's okay. It's okay," the mammal said. The Triceratops didn't know why but seeing the mammal made him calm down and slowly walk towards him.
"What is he doing?" Kierra whispered-yelled.
"I think he is... calming it?" Cole recognized.
"No fair," Spencer whined with anime-tears pouring out his eyes, "I want to calm the dinosaur..."
The teenagers sweat-dropped at the antics of the paleontologist as Tyler went for broke and reached out his hand. The Cretaceous herbivore lowered his head a bit before letting the mammal rest his hand on it. When Tyler did so, a yellow aura like when he picked up the Lightning Stone glowed with him and the dinosaur.
Both human and dinosaur backed away before the Triceratops spoke, "Whew. That was freaky. But thanks for that."
"No probe-" Tyler started but spluttering, "You- you spoke!"
"Uh... yeah?" the trike spoke with a question, "Is it not normal for dinosaurs to speak?"
The blonde sheepishly rubbed his head, "Sorry, still getting use to the fact that dinosaurs can speak in general."
The trike's confusion grew, "What do you mean? We could always talk... and what happened to you mammals walking on two feet instead of four?"
Before Tyler could respond, Tate broke out of the clearing. Pretty peeved for being thrown.
"Alright, three-horns!" the rex growled, "You want a piece of me?! Now you're asking for it! Anderson! Swipe my other card!"
"You said it!" the summoner said before pulling out the Move Card, "Go! Vol-"
"Wait!" Everyone yelled present and the Triceratops just snorted.
"Back for round two?" the trike snarked but Tyler ran in front of him.
"Sorry, but the t-rex is actually with us," the Lightning Stone user informed.
"What do you mean with you?" the trike questioned.
"What the brat means is that you should be with us!" Ursula commented as the Alpha Gang trio appeared from their position.
"You guys again!" Anderson growled with Tate mimicking his expression.
"Well, I'll hand it to you brats," the green-haired woman, "I was hoping you would tucker out our lucky dino but we can take it from! Zander?"
"Right-o!" the trench-coat man said before pulling out a card and swiping through the Alpha Scanner. Arthur materialized right in front of them and roared.
"Alright, time for round two big guy!" Tate roared and charged in. The enhanced Arcocanthosaurus met the charge with a headlock and began to win. The rex poured more energy into his side and thrusted upward before slapping the carcharodontosaurid away. Arthur snarled before bashing Tate in his face with his own tail and bit into his neck. Crying out in pain, the rex didn't like the trick so using of his strength, Tate kicked Arthur in the stomach allowing the Early Cretaceous theropod to release the infamous dinosaur.
"Tyler!" Anderson called out to the blonde, "Have the Triceratops help out!"
"Uh, right!" Tyler responded and pulled out his Dino Holder. He mentally slapped himself as he remembered he needed to summon one before just commanding the Triceratops with his voice right now, "Go for it!"
The herbivore just looked at the two carnivores before glancing to his 'summoner.' "Uhh..." the ceratopsian said with confusion present in his tone.
"What?" his 'summoner' asked.
"I'm just... confused right now? The t-rex is a good dino but the acro is the bad one?"
"Well..." Tyler tried to find the right words, "... yes. Because if those three get you, they might hurt you."
The trike mauled the reason over. Granted it did make the most sense, seeing the three were attacking kids. With that thought in mind, the Triceratops roared before charging over.
However this action didn't go unnoticed by Ed. "Uh, one of the brats looks like he is commanding the Triceratops over here."
"So?" Ursula said in a what-are-you-going-to-do-about-it tone.
"Well," Ed twiddled his fingers, "Wouldn't a two-on-one be unfair?"
Ursula just face-palmed, "Ed! We're criminals! That's what we do!"
"But the brats are doing it!" the portly man defended.
Urusla's rage disappeared before she smirked, "Lucky for us, the doctor was able to send our good friend to us! Now, we have a second dinosaur of our own!" She pulled a card from her own Alpha Scanner before slashing it. A glow appeared and a new dinosaur appeared.
A black-backed Suchominus with a yellow zig-zag line along the flank that separated the black coloring from the magenta underbelly. Black covered his claws and feet. The 'crocodile mimic' dinosaur hissed and roared upon being summoned before eyeing his opponent.
"Sick em', Suko!" Ursula said with a snide remark. The newly-identified Suko leaped into the air before landing in front of the trike, halting his charge.
"They have a Suchominus too?!" Tiffany recognized.
"So they have other dinosaurs at their disposal," Cole grunted.
Suko spun around, tail-slapping the Triceratops. The ceratopsian held on before ramming the side of the spinosaurid. The 'three-horned face' used his horns to go underneath and lift the Suchominus at of his way but failed to realize when the enhanced spinosaurid righten himself in mid-air and pounced on the herbivore back. With his neck exposed, the 'crocodile mimic' sank his teeth in the expose area. The Triceratops roared in pain from the attack.
With Tate, he heard the roar of pain before seeing the new threat since he was too caught up in battle with Arthur. Growling, he went to intervene but his opponent snapped onto his tail, making the rex trip to the floor.
"Hey, get off!" Tate snorted and kicked the magenta dinosaur in his face. Four kicks later, Arthur let go so Tate could help the trike. Running over, the 'tryant king' snapped onto Suko's body making the spinosaurid hiss in pain. The Triceratops managed to take a breath and recuperate for a while but couldn't believe what he had seen.
The t-rex that he had just been fighting saved him. He didn't ponder that thought because the Acrocantosaurus started run over here and planned to attack the rex for his recent fight. Wanting to return the favor, the Triceratops charged and rammed Arthur in the chest. A mighty thrust sent the acro back as he snarled at the lucky shot before charging head first but Suko was sent over and collided with his opponent.
Tate stomped over to the Triceratops and snorted with defiance. "How about we show these two what we can do?" the rex said to his new ally.
The Triceratops grew a grin on his beak, "Like you have to ask!" He roared before he glowed yellow.
"What's happening?" Jackson asked.
"I think he's using a Move Card!" Tyler recongized.
"So, wild dinosaurs have their own move cards too?" Cole deduced.
Lightning clouds formed overhead before a bolt of lightning struck the Triceratops. Instead of damaging him, the ceratopsian gained electricity around his body and stanced up to roar. The blinding light cause the two enemy theropods to shield their eyes. The electricity began to condense into a single ball at the tips of his horns. His intended target was Suko, evident in getting struck and electrocuted before flying and landing on the ground in spasms from the jolts.
"Woah!" The teenagers and paleontologist said in admiration.
"Not bad," Tate said before glowing red himself courtesy of Anderson, "Hey, Arthur!"
The acro managed to open his eyes again due to the Electric Charge ending and saw the red outline on the 'tryant king.' He braced himself for the same move that defeated him earlier before Tate ran forward. Arthur charged to but failed to realize that's what the Late Cretaceous theropod wanted. Tate ducked just as the Early Cretaceous theropod was on him and heaved him into the air. Tate began to spin and landed a tail smack directly onto Arthur's neck and sent him over to the spasming Suchomimus, which made them card upon impact.
"Heh. Not bad yourself," the Triceratops said to the Tyrannosaurs Rex before collapsing due to using all of his energy in his Move Card. He reverted back to a card that Tyler managed to catch.
"Don't worry, I got you," the blonde said before swiping the card across his Dino Holder. The Triceratops appeared in a chibi-form much like Tate did.
Shaking himself, the Triceratops noticed he was smaller than he was before. "What happened? Why am I smaller?"
"How did you know that would work," Cole asked the blonde who just shrugged.
"I figured if Tate could have a smaller form, Henry here could have one as well."
"Henry?" Jackson questioned.
"Yeah," Tyler responded, "My dinosaur, my name." No one disagreed with that claim.
"Hey you brats!" Ursula shouted at the teenagers. "Give us that dinosaur this instant!"
She failed to see the still full grown Tyrannosaurus Rex growling at her and her colleagues. When she did, she promptly shut up and backed away with Zander and Ed as the rex got closer.
"Perhaps you should start running," Tate suggested before licking his lips. The trio left in a heartbeat, not before the old lady shouted back, "This isn't over, brats!"
"So what do you think of the name, Henry?" Tyler asked his mini ceratopsian.
"I love it!" the dinosaur replied before chomping on his new owner's leg.
"Ow!" Tyler fell over and everyone laughed at the antics of the Lightning Stone user.
"Sorry about that," the horned dinosaur said, "I have a tendency to chomp at almost anything."
"Well, as long as you don't eat me, I'll be fine with that," Tyler replied, petting the ceratopsian.
With their new teammate in tow, they headed back to the jeep and home for the night.
Next time on Dinosaur King: Paleontology Unearthed
Dr. Messinger: More cards have been found.
Cole: A Carnotaurus!
Tiffany: And a Parasaurolophus!

A/N: And the second chapter is now complete. First time writing an original chapter with some new changes. Next chapter will stick to the main plot of Battle at the Pyramids mostly with a few changes.
Henry still has the same habits as Chomp in the anime with chewing on everything.
And the Alpha Gang brings out their second dinosaur, Suko the Alpha/enhanced Suchomimus. They have one more dinosaur that has yet to appear for their starting roster.
.brandy: I thank you for your compliments but I am not answering your questions, sorry.
Drew Luczynski: Thank you for comment.
King Dorado: I will try to, possibly in season 3 if I get that far. But yes, you can expect those creatures possibly.
No flames.
