Rise of the Grandmasters Saga Episode 8: Family Matters Part 1
200 Years in the Future
There is a large island that is lopsided somewhere in the ocean. Inside the library, Silver the Hedgehog is reading some books. Silver is reading some books to find any information about the Traitor that is supposed to be among the Freedom Fighters.
He looks through the pages of the books and says, "I'll have to thank Edmund for letting me do my research here…" and soon stops at a specific page and calmly smiles, "because this just proves who the traitor is!
In the book, there is a picture of Sonic, Eve, Sonia, Manic, Sally, Antoine, Bunnie, and Rotor when they're young kids.
He says to himself, "It says here that the First Freedom Fighters were Sonic, Eve, Sonia, Manic, Sally, Antoine, Bunnie, and Boomer…"
Then closes the book, "Whoever this 'Rotor' guy is, he must have taken Boomer's place and somehow gone undetected."
He then flies away and out of the building.
With excitement, Silver thinks, "I'll show the master what I've found and then…"
"Wait," But then stops to rethink this. "I don't need to see him about this. I know I've got it right this time."
"I'll handle this all by myself," And brings out a rectangular glowing gem.
Then says, "And no Super Warp Ring this time. I'm confident in using the Power of the Time Stone now."
He levitates the gem as he says, "Now! Yo go back and… destroy… the traitor!"
But takes it back in his hand and begins to have second thoughts, "... because it has to be done…! Must be done!"
He then sits down after gently placing himself on the ground and holding the gem.
He looks at it in frustration, "Argh. Can I really go that far? Can I really just destroy someone for a crime they haven't committed yet? Maybe… maybe I'll just talk to him… convince him not to…" and turns his head towards the scenery.
However, he sees the city look destroyed with demolished buildings with windows shatter, and the place looks deserted. Despite his uncertainty to destroy the traitor that is foretold to cause the future to be destroyed, he knows what he needs to do to save it.
He shakes his head and says, "No."
He stands up and looks at the gem, "He did this to the future."
Then look at the book, "He did this to my past."
"I'll save both our time and both our worlds!" Silver declares and tosses the book.
He then shouts, "Chronos Control!"
He channels into the stone's power and disappears, traveling through time.
Present Day:
In New Mobotropolis Castle Acorn, the Freedom Fighters including Elias with his wife, Megan, King Acorn and his wife, Alicia are in the conference room to to hear the transmission from Guntiver the Arctic Wolf, and leader of the Arctic Freedom Fighters about the Dark Egg Legion has taken over the Northern Tundra, and Rotor's people being captured by them.
From the transmission Nicole has created, Guntiver says, "... and we've seen Rotor's people being used as laborers and security for the construction of something. It looks like a refueling station, but it's way too big. Anyway, we could really use a hand if you've got someone you can spare." and the transmission ends.
"That concludes the transmission from the Northern Tundra," Nicole says.
"Thank you, Nicole," Sally says.
"This is insane, the Dark Egg Legion seems to be getting bigger and is spreading across Mobius," Manic says.
"Oui. It does seem like a problem," Antoine says.
Sonia then turns to Sally, "Sally, didn't you say we also received another message."
"Yes. As much as I have discomfort, it's a message from the leader of the Sand-Blasters, Jack Rabbit," Sally says.
Eve and Sonic are shocked, "Jack Rabbit! Not him again!"
Confused, curious, Cream asks, "Jack Rabbit?"
"He and his team ground the SandBlast Freedom Fighters, but we're not on the best terms with them. The last time we saw them, they captured Bunnie when they faked a distress call. They also captured Sonic, Tails, and me when we first came there," Eve says.
"Sounds to me like those vermins don't sound like good allies," Nic says, cleaning her blaster.
"You're right. We don't really like them so much after the incidents they caused, but they are fellow Freedom Fighters and they said that they need help," Sonia says.
"Maybe so, but I don't trust them," Sonic says.
"Me either," Eve says.
Sally then says, "Either way, we have two situations and we still need to look for Eggman. I think only three of us should go to the Northern Tundra to help the Arctic Freedom Fighters, and another group of three go help the Sand-Blasters in Sand Blast City."
"Well, I'm free to run up there and lend a hand," Sonic says.
Rotor says, "I'll go help too. I'm worried about Skeeter and my mom."
"I'll go too," Manic says.
Eve sighs and says, "As much as I don't like it, but I'll go to Sand Blast City to see what Jack and his annoying group wants."
"Chao Chao," Jazz replies
"I'll go too. Can't have y'all go there alone and I don't trust those guys either," Bunnie says.
Sonia steps forward, "I'll go with you too."
"Then it's settled. I suggest you start heading there right away," Sally says.
"You got it Sal," Sonic says.
Rotor then says, "Then it's a good opportunity to try out my latest invention. I just need Nicole's help, and it will be done."
Sonic and Manic turn to Rotor with curious expressions.
Sometime later, Eve, Sonia, and Bunnie already head off on their mission while Sonic and Manic are with Rotor to see his newest invention.
"Now then, I just need your nanites to build this for me, and it will be ready" Rotor says.
"I suppose I could…" Nicole says.
But looks down with reluctance and rubs her arm, "... but I did not know if I am comfortable using them anymore. After what happened with Phage controlling my nanites. I worry about the problems of my control… and I worry that there are many here who feel the same way. Or worse."
"Nicole, everyone knows it wasn't your fault. Sure we were a little spooked by the Iron Dominion, but we know that the incident wasn't your fault at all," Sonic says.
"Besides, it's not like anyone is going to know anyway," Manic adds.
"Very well," Nicole says.
With that, Nicole begins to use her nanites to work on Rotor's newest invention.
"Can't wait to see what you got there, Rotor," Manic says.
"Yeah. What is it supposed to do?" Sonic replies.
"Well with this design, I should be gone and back before the sun sets. Either way, I've been itching to get some action. I need to do this for my herd. For me," Rotor says, and places his cap on. Then places a pocket belt over his shoulders.
"There! I'm ready to go," Rotor says.
"And I've just about finished…" Nicole says.
Then fully constructed Rotor's invention, "Finish."
"I hope I followed your blueprint to your satisfaction," Nicole says.
Rotor then takes the suit and tries it on, once he's done, Rotor says, "Nicole…"
Soon, Rotor reveals to be wearing a yellow, blue, and gray color body suit with helmet, and appears to have a jet pack on his back.
Rotor says, with satisfaction, "You did perfectly. Thank you!"
"My pleasure," Nicole says with a smile.
"You look awesome, Rotor," Sonic says.
"Sick. Now you're more than ready," Manic says.
After that, the group headed outside.
"Good luck out there," Nicole says.
"Thanks," Rotor says.
And we'll be sure to take this Dark Egg Legion down," Manic says.
"Or at least stop them in their tracks," Sonic says.
Manic passes Sonic a rope as he jumps on his hover board. Sonic then brings out a Power Ring.
"Alright, let's go!" Rotor says.
Then flies off on his jet pack as he shouts, "Whoo-hoo!"
"Let's do it, to it!" Sonic says, activating the power of his Power Ring.
Then speeds off, pulling Manic on his hover board.
The three continue to travel over the ocean, and reach the Northern Tundra in no time flat. They soon see the Igloo, which is where the Arctic Freedom Fighters are. They come to a stop to meet the leader of the Arctic Freedom Fighters, Guntiver.
"Yo Guntiver! Sorry to take so long," Sonic says.
Guntiver laughs, "Ha! We only sent word the other day!"
"Yeah, I had some business to take care of down south," Sonic says.
"Great to see you again man," Manic says, holding his hand up.
"You too, Manic," Guntiver says.
Then turns to Rotor, "And is that, Rotor."
"It sure it," Rotor says.
"Wow. You sure look different with that suit on," Guntiver says.
"Yeah. It's my new special power suit," Rotor says.
Then Sonic asks, "So where's the rest of your team?"
"Down below. C'mon, I'm sure you're freezing," Guntiver says.
Soon, the group begins to walk into the igloo and down the stairs as Sonic says, "Dude, with the Power Rings I was carrying, the cold couldn't keep up with me."
"Haha! I missed your spirit, man," Guntiver says with laughter.
The group continue to walk down the stairs and into the Headquarters to see the rest of the Arctic Freedom Fighters: Augustus the Polar Bear, Erma Ermine, Flip Penguin, and Sealia Seal.
"There they are! The Arctic Freedom Fighters1 It's been forever!" Sonic calls out.
That catches everyone's attention in excitement.
Sealia then gus Sonic a big tight hug, "Oui! The last time we ever had ze mission together, it was when Dr. Eggman used his weather controlling device."
"Gak! Hey Sealia. Yeah, seems like a lifetime ago," Sonic says, feeling crushed.
"Yeah. So what's the plan on taking over the Dark Egg Legion, and what exactly are they planning?" Manic asks.
"We're just about to go over that," Erma says.
Guntiver says, "Start us off, Erma."
Then the group gathers around the table to see the large blue prints of what the Dark Egg Legion of this region is up to.
"Thanks to Flip and Sealia's reconnaissance, we know their base runs both above and below the ice. The Legionnaires run the lower portion of the base while their walrus slaves run the upper half," Erma says.
Hearing that just makes Rotor clutch his fist in anger.
Erma continues, "Between the Legion's own cybernetically-boosted sonar and the psionic emitter in the top of the tower. The herd has no way to resist the mind-control signal."
Then Flip adds, "Me, Sealia, and Augustus can handle the underwater portion well enough, but that would leave only Guntiver and Erma to handle things on land."
"So you need us to fill in on the second team," Manic says.
"Yeah. Divide their force and bring down both parts of the tower at once," Sonic says with a smirk.
"Precisely," Erma says.
"I like it! I'm ready to go when you guys are," Sonic says.
"Oui we are, but where is your sister, Eve? I figure she's with you," Sealia asks.
"Yeah. Eve has to go on a different assignment with Bunnie and Sonia to SandBlast City to help with the SandBlast Freedom Fighters," Manic says, and doesn't seem pleased with it.
"Another mission huh, guess it can't be helped," Guntiver says.
"Yeah. We just hope the girls will be okay, since we have some well… let's just say we don't exactly see eye to eye with the Sand Blasters," Rotor says.
"A bit of an understatement to be honest," Sonic says, rolling his eyes.
"It's best we get going the sooner we deal with Eggman's annoying Dark Egg Legion, the sooner we can figure out where he is," Manic says.
With that, the Freedom Fighters of New Mobotropolis and the Arctic Freedom Fighters are heading towards their mission.
"We're almost to the base people. Get ready," Guntiver says.
"Yeah-yeah-yeah, do or die. Maybe the herd will stay rescued this time," Sonic says.
"Trust me, I understand what you mean. Why is Eggman always after my people," Rotor says, frustrated.
"Maybe because they've the most prominent species in the Northern Tundra? Maybe because the city of Iceborough is the most influential settlement in the entire polar cape. Take you pick," Erma answers.
"Really?" Sonic asks.
Then turns to Flips with a smirk, "So… 'Iceborough' eh? Not 'ice-burg?' ah? Het it? 'Iceberg?'"
"This is the Northern Tundra, dude. That joke's older than the permafrost," Flips says.
Sonic laughs and says, "Ha ha! That's cold man, cold!"
"Sonic, that has to be one of the lamest jokes ever," Manic says.
"And it's not a good time for one either," Rotor says.
Just then, Guntiver informs, "Everyone down! We're here!"
The group quickly goes into hiding. Sonic looks up to see the dark clouds rolling in.
"Wow… looks like some nasty weather is coming from the south," Sonic says.
"Yeah. Looks like a snowstorm," Manic says.
Erma firmly asks, "If you're here to help, would you please focus?"
Everyone quickly hides and looks to see Rotor's herd standing in front of a large tower that actually looks like a metal totem pole.
"What? It's just an entire herd of zombie-like walruses who want to tear us apart for trying to save their lives. No biggie!" Sonic says in remark.
"To me it's a biggie, my mom and Skeeter could be out there, and I don't have plans to fight them," Rotor says.
"Don't worry Rotor, we'll rescue your mom and Skeeter," Manic says.
"Yeah. We just need to follow up with the plan and one trashed tower," Sonic says.
The group look and are ready to follow up with the plan. Unknown to them, someone is secretly following then, and is flying over them. Rotor senses something off and turns around to see nothing or no one there.
"Hmm," Rotor says, scratching his chin.
Manic notices, "What's up, Rotor?"
"I don't think we're the only ones here. I think we're being watched," Rotor says.
"You think it could be one of Eggman's robots? Or a Dark Egg Legionnaire?" Manic asks.
"I don't know. You guys stay here and I'll check it out," Rotor says.
"Okay, but be careful," Guntiver says.
"Right," Rotor replies with a nod.
He then flies away to figure out what the mysterious being is.
"Hmm, doesn't seem to be anything out of the ordinary," Rotor says.
He looks around the surrounding area as the snow begins to fall pretty hard.
"I just hope it's nothing. I really want to help mom and Skeeter. It's been ages since we've had a chance to…" Rotor says.
But something stops him in his tracks, "... Talk?!"
Then is suddenly thrown into the snow. Rotor quickly looks up and searches around the area. Soon, he sees a mysterious figure.
He narrows his eyes to see the figure, "Some kind of Badnik or Legionnaire…?"
Then raises his arms up as he says, "Consider this your warning shot, buddy!"
Then fires his blaster at the figure. Suddenly, the mysterious figure lifts its hand up and causes the blast to be stopped in his tracks.
"I'm not your buddy, pal," The figure says.
Then launches the ammo back at Rotor, striking his weapons.
Rotor then uses his rocket boots to fly towards the enemy, "I don't know who you are. But you picked the wrong day to mess with…"
Then suddenly, Rotor stopped in his tracks, "...Me?"
The one who has stopped Rotor is Silver the Hedgehog with his Psychokinesis. Then he uses a psychic ability to place Rotor down and begin to short circuit the nanites in the suit.
Rotor struggles, "Th-the nanites…! They're offline!"
"My Psychokinesis… Silver says, using his ability on Rotor, lifting him in the air.
Then says, "Completely dominates machinery." Then Silver tosses Rotor to the ground with his back on the snow.
Still having his powers over Rotor, Silver says, "You may not know me, but I know you… and I know you're not the Real Boomer Walrus!"
"'Boomer' …?" Rotor says, confused.
"I know who you are… TRAITOR OF THE FREEDOM FIGHTERS!" Silver says, with a serious look.
Rotor becomes shocked to hear what Silver Is saying, and does not like where the situation is going.
