AN: To answer a question I've seen a few times in the reviews, the reason Ash is going to battle Erika before Sabrina is simply because when I was writing out the timeline for the story, I checked the wiki and the order roster for the games puts Erika before Sabrina and I just kinda went with that.

Spot Inspection

Chapter 11

-Jane-

"Alright, so we've gotten some gifts for your mom for her Garden, and arranged a Spa Day for my sister." Jane flipped through their list of ideas as the two walked through Celadon's market district, "Any more ideas?" and boy were they needed. Finding out about a corrupt hotel tycoon destroying a barrier reef and putting an open bounty on people to kill a school of Tentacool so she could finish destroying said reef for a Pool. And then the lunatic having some sort of toxic chemical that triggered an evolution of a Tentacool into a monstrously huge Tentacruel that started wrecking the already built hotel? If there wasn't enough paperwork before to warrant these gifts, there certainly was now.

"Not off the top of my head." Ash shook his head as they entered another store to see what was inside. As soon as they walked through the door though he wasn't able to keep back a grimace at the scent that hit his nostrils.

"A Perfume store?" Jane looked around at the shop, the outside not having any sort of sign to have indicated it before they walked in.

"Yeah, I'll say let's pass on this one." Ash blinked as he tried to quell his growing headache, "Not a big fan." Not to mention it always made him sneeze and frequently tossed headaches onto that.

"What, you think you're too good for our perfume?" one of the clerks apparently didn't take his remark of passing on the store well as she glared at him, her coworkers joining her.

"Look, I didn't-" Ash began before being cut off yet again.

"Young man." A woman in a Kimono that Ash recognized as the local Gym leader approached, the salesclerks commenting on her being the manager, "Are you accusing me of overcharging my customers for inferior perfume?"

"No!" Ash snapped, irritated at being cut off and given the third degree, "I'm just not a fan of perfume in general. It-"

"P for Pretty! E for Elegant! R for Radiant! F for Fun! U for Urbane! M for Mysterious! E for Energy!" With each letter of her tirade, Erika kept trying to back Ash to the door, "That spells Perfume!"

"Look you need to chill out." Ash glared, not going to put up with this woman and her salesclerks trying to talk down to him over this.

"And if you object to our products so much, you should just leave." Erika glared "Since we all sell perfume here, you must find us offensive!"

"Yeah, you should be ashamed of yourself!" one of the clerks got up in Ash's face next.

"You insensitive little worm!" another scowled as Jane finally came out of her shock and looked ready to help back him up.

"Get out and don't come back!" the clerks grabbed him and physically shoved him out the door and to the pavement, catching him off guard by the blatant act. Catching Jane before she could hit the ground, Ash looked up with a snarl even as the door slammed shut and locked, Erika going into some back room and probably leaving.

"Oh, they are so in for it when we get to the inspection." Jane narrowed her eyes even as the workers closed up the shop in a huff, "Let's get this over with so we can get the assault paperwork started."

-Ash-

"The hell you mean I can't come in?!" Ash glared at the semi-circle of Gym trainers blocking him and Jane from entering.

"I wouldn't let you in if you were the last Pokémon trainer in the world!" the lead gym Trainer glared at him "This gym doesn't allow anyone inside who says the kind of things you did about perfume. Cause, news flash, we make that perfume you insulted here!" as she spoke, the blue haired gym trainer pulled out a large denial stamp as she slammed it into Ash's face to know him out the door, Jane hurrying to his side, "You're the one who stinks!"

"Oh, that's it!" Jane growled as she grabbed the door and threw it open, slamming the first gym trainer who tried to protest into the ground as she started cuffing them, "All of you are under arrest." As she spoke, Jane pulled out her badge, "And this Gym has officially failed it's league inspection."

"You can't do that!" one of the ones that wasn't cuffed yet protested even as they started running further into the building.

"Think they're grabbing Erika?" Ash frowned even as he grit his teeth, the ink in his eyes burning.

"Probably." Jane scowled, sending out Squirtle to use a weak water gun to help wash the ink off, but not before getting a photo to add to the video evidence they'd been recording from body cams.

"What's going on here?!" Erika demanded as the gym trainer returned with her.

"Your assistants here are all being placed under arrest for assault and violating the rules that Gyms and Gym trainers are required to follow." Jane scowled as Erika's eyes widened upon recognizing them, "I'm Jane Auburn of the League Commission. I came here to perform a Gym inspection as you battled Ash here. Given your side business where you oversaw your employees assaulting someone and didn't protest as well as running a gym where you're having trainers banned, and once again, assaulted you've failed. I'd also recommend that you get yourself a good lawyer."

-Jane-

"I'm sorry!" Jane and Ash frantically bowed their head in apology to the video call with her sister who had gotten notification of the Spa Day they'd paid for, the gifts being mailed, and the multiple arrests for assault cases overseen by the Celadon Gym leader. Luckily it was the local Jenny who would be overseeing the continuing investigation so there wouldn't be as much paperwork going to her sister, but it was still not a good look.

"You'd better be." Said overworked cop seethed, "But what now? Going to go and expose the local shopping mall of being a secret cult base or something?"

Jane gulped, doing her best to diffuse the situation, "No, we're just going to relax a bit before heading out tomorrow. we were thinking of heading to the Game Corner and seeing if we can win any prizes. I mean, what could go wrong there?"

AN: Alright, to address those who were defending Erika I have to point a few things out.

The first was that there was no way she wasn't aware of Ash being banned given that Brock and Misty were still in there and they'd know about the situation. Plus, for everyone BUT her to know in that building is unrealistic.

Two is that she got hyper aggressive on Ash in the perfume shop. Was Ash in the wrong for some of his comments about perfume? Yes. But he's also a ten-year-old boy who genuinely didn't like the smell of perfume and thought it was supposed to make guys act like Brock, something he didn't think was good. And when Erika, a friggin grown ass woman, saw a kid not liking her product she started getting into his face and shouted at him before having him assaulted by her staff and physically thrown from the store as they insult him personally. Ash made it very clear he didn't have issue with her or the workers, his only issue was in the product. They're the ones doing personal attacks. Even during the Gym battle she was arrogant and talking about how Ash didn't have any Empathy with his Pokémon. Based on friggin what? It wasn't standard trash talk like what Surge was doing it was her openly looking down on her opponent.

Then at the gym, once again, he was physically assaulted by her staff. She didn't seem surprised at the notion of him having to sneak in either, just that he GOT in implying that, once again, she was completely aware of the situation.

Thus, no pass for Erika.
