The Secret of the Rings Episode 5: Sinbad and the Levitated Ruins

Still flying in the skies on the magic Carpet, Sonic and Shahra are in search to find the Rukh and where Sinbad is being held captive. They've been flying on the carpet for a while, and they are getting rather bored.

Sonic yawns and asks, "Hey Shahra, how far are we supposed to find this Rukh and Sinbad anyway?"

"Hmm, I'm sure it won't be a while longer," Shahra says.

Sonic thinks for a minute and says, "I wonder where they could be."

"Sonic, look ahead!" Shahra calls out.

Sonic looks ahead and is very surprised to see ruins of an old city, floating on the top of some flying manta-like fossil creature. The creature is flying in the sky as it feels as if nothing is a miss.

"Whoa, an ancient city is riding on top of that creature!" Sonic says, surprised.

"That's the Rukh, Sonic! We found it!" Shahra says.

"That's pretty cool. What is that place on top of its back?" Sonic asks, taking an interest.

"That is the Levitated Ruin. Sinbad must be somewhere in the ruins," Shahra says.

Then let's go land and start searching," Sonic says.

Shahra nods her head.

Then the two descend the carpet into the ancient ruins. When they arrive, they feel a strong wind current.

Shahra calls out, "the wind speed here is incredible! Be careful, Sonic!"

"Yeah. Get in the ring Shahra, and hang on," Sonic says.

Shahra then goes inside the ring where she will be saved.

Then, Sonic begins to speed through the Levitated Ruins. Of course, they can't explore anywhere without running into Erazor Djinn's henchmen. Sonic then kicks, punches, and spins dashes them all and continues forward. However, it's proven that getting through the ruins is not easy. They have to go through the traps that'd been set up, and have to defeat the monsters around the area. After exploring the ruins, they can't seem to find Erazor Djinn.

"That's weird, we searched all over the place and Sindbad isn't here," Sonic says.

Shahra soon notices, "Sonic, look over there!"

Sonic looks and soon sees another Rukh just below the one they're on.

"There's another one?!" Sonic asks, shocked.

"And there are more here too," Shahra says.

Sonic soon looks around to see the Levitated ruins are divided from a whole herd of Rukhs.

"That is a lot of flying mantas. Sindbad could be on any one of them," Sonic says.

"Then it's best we start searching right away," Shahra says.

"Alright then," Sonic says.

He then walks back. Then Sonis speeds forward as he shouts, "Look out below!"

Shahra screams as Sonic jumps off the Rukh and free falls down. Luckily, they're able to land on the tail of the other Rukh. Once they're safely on the Rukh, they begin to travel through the ruins.

"Man, this Sinbad must really be someone special," Sonic says.

"Of course! He's one of this world's heroes!" Shahra says.

"You don't say. It will be cool to meet another hero from this world," Sonic says.

Then the two continue forward. They soon run inside one of the ruins buildings and of course, they find some spike traps and other dangers.

Shahra says, "Watch out for those spikes, Sonic!"

"Thanks!" Sonic says.

Sonic and Shahra continue forward and the gate closes upon entry. Soon, looking ahead, Sonic notices three stone gargoyles, and one of them begins to move and flap its wings.

"Hey! That stone statue just moved!" Sonic says, shocked.

Then the flapping of the statue's wings begins to blow air against Sonic.

"Be careful Sonix, those statues will turn you to stone if you're not careful," Shahra says.

"Stone, huh," Sonic says.

"Yes. Try to Spin dash it," Sahra says.

"Alright then," Sonic says.

Sonic dodgers the statues attack and begins to spin dash on the statue multiple times until it's knocked over. Allowing Sonic to get out of the chamber and across the Rukh.

"Sonic, look over there!" Shahra calls out.

Soon, Sonic notices a monstrous spirit.

Sonic speeds forward, "You're not getting away!"

"After him, Sonic!" Shahra calls out.

The monstrous spirit begins to fly away as a strange glowing magical path appears before them. Sonic quickly runs on the path.

Shahra says, "Remember, you can use the move Speed Break, and you can speed up to catch up to it!"

"Let's do it!" Sonic says, and shouts, "Speed Break!"

And Sonic speeds forward.

Shahra calls out, "H-hey! Sonic, wait!"

Sonic uses the Speed Break to accelerate his speed to catch up with the monstrous spirit.

Shahra looks behind Sonic and cries out, "Sonic, look out!"

Sonic turns his head back to see rockets are flying towards Sonic. Sonic quickly runs as fast as he can and dodgers the rockets flying at him from behind. Sonic soon lands on another Rukh, and they lose the rockets and the monstrous spirit.

In relief, Shahra says, "That was close!"

"Heh! No problem!" Sonic says with confidence.

Sonic continues to run ahead to dodge some of the blocks and spirits.

Then Sonic uses the move, "Speed break!"

Then Sonic speeds ahead as fast as he can. Sonic continues to use the ability as he dodges from the ruin structures and traps, and is able to use it to strike at the spirits with the attack. Just then, another monstrous creature appears and creates a path for Sonic to run on.

"Here we go, Shahra!" Sonic says, and speeds on.

Shahra calls out, "Sonic, slow down!"

"Sorry Shahra, we'll have to speed ahead to catch up with them," Sonic says.

Sonic looks back to see the rockets are chasing after him.

Sonic calls out, "Hey, if you want to play tag, go do it someplace else!"

Sonic continues to speed ahead and follow the monstrous creature on the path. The path begins spiraling and she's able to dodge the rockets flying at him. Sonic then begins to spin dashing at the creature and is able to defeat it. Then they land on other levitated ruins.

"Are you okay, Sonic?" Shahra asks.

Sonic gives Shahra thumbs up and says, "Just leave it to me!"

And soon, Sonic comes across another monstrous spirit and it creates another path for Sonic to run on. And of course, he had to defeat the spirits and dodge the rockets coming at him from front and behind. Soon, the many different spirits are coming at him.

Shahra cries out, "Sonic, look out!"

Sonic acts fast and defeats the Spirits. Then Sonic performs the Speed Break, allowing him to run even faster. Sonic continues to use the monstrous spirit's magical path to get around and to defeat any trouble that comes his way. Finally, after time has passed, they end up on another Rukh with a levitated ruin. Sonic pants in exhaustion of all the monsters and traps he had to elude.

"Are you okay, Sonic?" Shahra asks in concern.

"I'm good. That was quite the workout," Sonic says.

Then looks around, "But we haven't been able to find Sinbad yet."

"Let's hope that he's on this one," Shahra says, worried.

"Then let's find out.

With that, Sonic and Shahra continue forward and explore this levitated ruin. Like before, they have to dodge the traps, defeat the monsters, and climb up the walls and other places to find what they're looking for. After climbing one of the towers, they've finally reached the top.

"Finally, we're able to get to the top of this place," Sonic says.

Shahra looks around and notices something, "Ah! Over there.

Sonic turns his head to see a cage up ahead. Sonic and Shahra rush over and soon find a cage.

Sonic then wonders, "Is that Sinbad?"

"Yes. It's him," Shahra says.

Sonic and Shahra approach the cage to see Sinbad trapped inside, To Sonic's surprise, the one Shahra says is Sibad, looks a lot like Knuckles. But he's wearing a different attire than his usual look. He's wearing a white keffiyeh, metal bandage, a white dishdasha with purple belt, white gloves with pointed knuckles, gray metal wristlets and ring, and red pointed shoes with green cuffs and metal yellow plates.

Sonic walks over and calls out, "Hey, Knuckles! How'd you get here?

However the Echidna inside says, "I am Sinbad of the Seven Seas! Adventure of adventures. Who the heck are you?"

"Oh, Sinbad! It truly is you, the great adventure?" Shahra says, relieved.

Then asks, "Would you be willing to give us some of your worldly wisdom?"

"Hey, er. Miss... uh…" Sinbad says.

Shahra introduces herself, "Shahra."

"Listen. I hate to break it to you, but I'm kind of stuck, here. YOU'RE the ones who should be helping me," Sinbad points out.

"And how are we supposed to do that?" Sonic questions in thought.

Shahra looks at the cage and says, "I feel a strange magical force here. It might be the work of the Erazor Djinn. Which means if we can break the spell, we can undo this lock!"

"Now you're talking, that's the ticket, Shahra!" Sinbad happily says.

However, Sonic says, "Come on, Shahra, let's just leave him there."

Then Sinbad says to Sonic, "Hey, listen, hedgehog! Life's a game of give and take, see? You help me get out of here... ...and in return. I'll help you out later. Not a bad deal, huh?"

"Wisdom... Knuckles?" Sonic questions.

Sonic thinks for a minute, but then says, "Ah, never mind. Come on, let's find that key!"

"Don't worry, Sinbad! We'll rescue you!" Shahra says.

"Yeah, any day, now, thanks," Sinbad says.

Sonic rolls his eyes, "Oh, come on…"

Then turns to Shahram "Come on, let's get started."

"Good luck, Sonic!" Shahra says.

Sonic then begins to leave the scene and begins to search for the sky in the levitated ruins. Soon, Sonic and Shahra begin to explore a tower. They run up the tower and of course, have to dodge the traps until they reach a bouncer that launches them in the air.

Sonic shouts, "Yahoo!"

Shahra screams, "Yaaah!"

Soon, the two reach the top of the tower.

Sonic looks around and wonders, "Okay, now what?"

"Sonic, look over there," Shahra says.

Sonic turns his head to notice a strange mirror of some kind, and in front is a lever. Sonic and Shahra approach the lever.

"Hmm, what does this do?" Sonic questions.

Sonic then pulls the lever, and the mirror moves. The sun reflects from the mirror, and aims towards the cage. And soon, one of the locks breaks from the cage. And suddenly, Sonic and Shahra find themselves back at the cage.

Sonic is confused, "Huh? We're back to where we started."

"Look, one of the locks has broken off. So if we find the other three mirrors and have them turn to where the cage is, we should be able to break the locks," Shahra says.

"Oh well,. Guess we get to have a little more fun," Sonic says.

Then begins riding on the zip line.

Confused, Shahra says, "Fun?! Is that what all this is to you?"

"You're starting to sound like Sally," Sonic replies.

Sonic and Shahra then continue forward, defeating enemies, and reach towards a tower. They climb up the tower while escaping traps and defeating enemies, until they reach the top. Like what they've done with the first mirror, they perform the same method and are transported back.

"Two down, two to go!" Sonic says.

Sonic and Shahra continue their search to find the other two mirrors and break the other two locks from the cage. Soon enough, they run into trouble with the sand in one of the towers, Sonic then performs Time Break, so time will stop and the sand will stop flowing. That gives enough time to get away from the sand before it continues to flow and continue forward. They continue to climb up the third tower until they reach the top. They turn the mirror by pulling the lever and break the third lock.

Transported back to where they came, now they only have one more lock to destroy. They soon ride the zipline to their last location. Of course, they already have to face a lot of dangers like rockets, spirits, and all kinds of traps. Soon, they reach the last tower and begin to climb their way to the top. This last tower is proven to be a challenge, and has to use the 'Time Break' ability to freeze time to stop the sand from flowing. Soon, they've reached the top of the tower, and use the mirror to break the final lock.

And soon enough, Sonic and Shahra have been magically transported.

Before they can walk to the cage, they hear a voice, "Sonic! Shahra!"

Sonic and Shahra turn their heads to see Ali Baba have arrived at the cage.

"Ali Baba? What are you doing here?" Sonic asks, confused.

"I thought that I would come along to help find Sinbad, so I asked King Shahryar if I could use one of his magic carpets to find him, and find my way here," Ali Baba says.

"Well then, I'm happy to let you know that we found Sinbad and are about to let him out," Sonic says.

He then rushes to the cage, opens it, and Sinbad walks out a free man, well Echidna anyway.

Sinbad says in relief, "Phew! Thanks for getting me out of there." He then says, "Okay, so about the fire genie, then... Why not just try splashing some water on him?"

"WOW! The wisdom of Sinbad of the Seven Seas! The adventurer of adventurers!" Sonic says, sarcastically.

Offended, Sinbad angrily says, "Hey, I don't see you coming up with any better ideas!"
And soon, the two start glaring at each other and it looks like a fight is about to happen.

Luckily, Ali Baba pushes them apart, "Stop it! The problem is, how are we going to get ENOUGH water, to put out a fire genie, right?"

"I was getting to that," Sinbad says.

Sonic is annoyed by Sinbad's statement, but decides to listen.

Then Sinbad explains, "You see, the pirates who locked me up here took the Water Blue Ring I use to control storms."

"A water blue…" Ali Baba replies.

Then Shara says, "Ring."

"First a fire genie, and now pirates, huh? The Arabian Nights really are worlds of endless adventures, aren't they?" Sonic says, sounding very impressed.

"Indeed they are," Shara says.

Then Sonic says, "Come on Shahra, let's go find that ring."

"Right," Shahra says with a nod.

With that, Sonic and Shahra speed off to go find the Blue Ring of the Seven World Rings. Of course, traveling through the levitated ruins so they can find the Blue Ring. They jump and climb up the tower. Of course, they have to dodge the spikes and spirits that come their way. They soon find another creature and chase after it as it leaves a path in their way. They run in loops and reach the end. Sonic then rides on the ziplines, and ends up following another monster. It's proven to be crazy when the spirits begin to attack them.

Sonic asks, "How many of these guys are there?"

"There's no end to them!" Shahra says.

Sonic attacks and defeats the monsters and continues forward. Of course, he dodges the rockets, defeats the monsters, and has to deal with other kinds of obstacles.

A little tired from the fight, Sonic says, "Man... there's just no end to these evil spirits, is there?"

Just then, appearing from the sky, is a glowing blue ring. Another one of the Seven World Rings has been found.

"That's…" Shahra says, surprised.

"It must be another one of the seven World Rings," Sonic adds.

Sonic then grabs the ring as it descends to him. Then sparks come out of the ring. However, touching the ring makes Sonic feel strange, like something powerful within the ring.

In concern, Shahra asks, "Are you okay?"

"Yeah. I'm fine. Ok... alright," Sonic answers, but feels some kind of strange pain.

Then explains, "Just touching it makes me feel like I've got a whirlpool of emotions spiraling around inside me. I can't even begin to imagine what having all seven rings would do to someone."

This makes Shahra deeply concerned.

"It might even open the gates of hell.." Sonic adds.

Shahra remains silent and looks at Sonic in deeper concern.

She floats to him and says, "Sonic... here."

And she presents Sonic a lump of metal. Sonic is deeply confused to see the object

"I want you to hold on to this," Shahra says, and gives it to Sonic.

Sonic takes the metal, "Uh... okay. What is it?"

"If nothing else we do is able to stop him, this will be our final resort," Shahra says.

"Shahra…" Sonic says, and about to ask.

But Shahra says, "I cannot use it by myself." and gently floats a short distance away from Sonic.

Sonic then looks down at the lump of metal that Shahra says will be the last resort. He then wonders, what is this last resort that Shahra is in trusting him with.

Author Note: Hello everyone, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. First, I like to apologize that the story has been delayed, but I plan to make up for lost time and continue writing it as soon as I can.

After finishing with Season 3, the next Sonic and Eve the Hedgehogs story will be about the Shattering World incident with Sonic becoming a werehog and the Dark Gaia.
