Death Egg Strikes Back Saga Episode 5: Genesis Part 3: Divide and Conquer

Sometime later, in Green Hills, Sonic, Eve, and Jazz return with Sally and the Freedom Fighters to meet up with Tails with the Red Tornado.

Sonic walks over and says, "Yo, Tails! What's up?"

"Hi Tails!" Eve says.

"Sonic! Eve!" Tails calls out, and runs to them.

Then notices Jazz, "You found Jazz."

"We sure did, but we also had some help," Eve says.

Soon, Tails notices Sally and the others.

"Who are your friends?" Tails asks.

"These dudes helped us out in our last adventure. Wait until you hear about it!" Sonic says.

Then Eve says, "Guys, this is our friend Miles Prower, he is very intelligent for a child his age."

Sally and Tails soon shake hands.

"Hi there! My name is Sally!" Sally says.

A little shy, Tails says, "H-hi, you can call me 'Tails.'"

"Bonjour," Antoine says.

"And you should get along great with uh…?!" Sonic questions.

"Boomer?" Eve replies, confused.

"Where did he go?" Sally asks.

Suddenly, they hear Boomer say, "Oh, man!"

The three turn to see Boomer and Tails at the Red Tornado.

"You've got an F1 with a 9B nine-cylinder rotary engine!" Boomer says, amazed.

"Yeah! It's Sonic's, but he lets me take care of it for him!" Tails says.

Just then, Boomer notices another feature to the plane, "Wait a minute! You added a High-Bypass Turbofan Engine?!"

"Well, Sonic does prefer to go fast. And it wasn't too hard to connect the fuel line…"

"And you're how old?!" Boomer asks, amazed.

Sonic smiles and points his thumb towards them, "Totally called it. They'll be like this for hours."

"It's cute!" Sally says. "Besides, we could all use something to be cheerful about," Sally says.

"I saw you working on that computer before we left the Scrap Brain Zone. Nothing but bad news," Sonic says.

"Pretty much," Sally says, "Dr. Eggman's production plants are still running, and it looks like you were right-he did survive. And there were no leads about all the recent-"

But she is cut off by a tremor under the ground and it's causing a loud rumbling sound. Soon enough, the tremor comes to a stop.

"That was the worst tremor yet. If Eggman is behind them, we need to stop him before the entire planet shakes apart!" Sally says, worried.

"Which would stink, 'cause that's where I keep all my stuff," Sonic says.

"Sonic, the whole planet will be destroyed if this keeps up," Eve says.

Then Sonic says, "So let's cut to the chase, find the doc, and beat the ugly off him, which might take a week, but hey…"

But Sally says, "No… we need to dismantle his infrastructure first. His support lines must be cut."

"But that plan sounds so slow…" Sonic says.

Then Tails asks, in excitement, "Are you going on another adventure, guys? Can I come, too?"

"I don't know… you're awfully young…" Sally answers unsure.

"Don't worry about Tails. Eve and I taught him how to handle himself," Sonic says.

"Sonic's right. We taught Tails a lot, and he is good with machines and such. He might be able to help us as well." Eve says.

Then Sonic says, "Enough waiting! We'll follow your plan for now, Sal."

Then Eve asks, "You've got the directions to Eggman' next factory?"

"I sure do! He won't know what hit him!" Sally says.

Soon, the group takes off to find Dr. Eggman and stop his evil plans.

Meanwhile… in space just out of the planet's atmosphere, there is Dr. Eggman's aircraft known as the Death Egg floating in space. Inside are Dr. Eggman and his nephew, Snively.

Eggman maniacally laughs, "Whaha-ha-ha! With phase one well behind us, this glorious flying fortress can move on to phase two of my brilliant plan!"

"About that, sir. What was phase one?" Snively asks.

"It was brilliant! We did that… thing to the planet! You know… that thing… it Primed Mobius," Eggman answers.

However, Snively scratches his head with a confused look.

Then Eggman says, "Bah!It doesn't matter whether you remember it or not! Whatever it was. It severely drained the power reserves!"

"Yes, but you don't have to worry about refueling from all your factories and bases now! The Seven Chaos Emeralds we found are recharging the station incredibly fast!" Snively sinforms.

"YESSSS." Eggman says, and looks at his monitor, "Once fully powered, I will be able to robotize all of Mobius in one shot!"

Then works on his computer pad, "Since all we have to do is wait for total victory… I have plenty of time to work on this little 'Chaos in the equation' logic puzzle."

"Sir?" Snively replies confused.

Eggman continues with his puzzle and says, "The unpredictable, Snively, the quantum variant. The unexplainable hiccup in the soundest of plans. The hedgehogs…"

"H-hedgehogs…?" Snively questions.

Just then, Snively says, "Erm… shouldn't we be paying some attention to the dimensional disturbances? They've caused heavy seismic activity recently… but preliminary readings suggest a total space-time collapse. It's like reality has been stretched and is fighting to snap back."

"Hmm?" Eggman thinks.

Then says, "Whatever. I'll have won before then. Let me work."

"What about the rebel Mobians who attacked us?" Snively asks. They're sure to try to cause more problems!"

"Oh don't worry about them, Snively. I made sure my facilities are ready…" Eggman says with an evil smile. "...For uninvited guests."

Snively then evilly smiles as well.

Back on Mobius, Sonic and the others soon arrive at their next destination, which is full of pipes, machines, and strange purple liquids that seem like chemicals.

Upon arriving, Boomer says, "Here we are, folks. The Chemical Plant Zone."

"Somehow I don't think this place meets occupational hazard guidelines," Sally says.

"Yeah. It sure doesn't look like it," Eve says.

"Chao Chao," jazz agrees.

"Which means it will be a lot of fun to run around in!" Sonic says.

Tails looks and asks, "Is he polluting for pollution's sake? Why would he need to produce this much chemical fuel?"

"Unless he's stock-piling it all…" Boomer says.

Then Tails says, "Or if it's meant for a truly monstrous machine!"

"Can you imagine how many joules that much fuel could produce?" Boomer questions.

Then Tails asks, "Can you imagine a device that needed that kind of power?!"

"Are we trying to stop ze madman' schemes, or are we putting together ze fanning club for him?" Antoine questions and places his hand over his face.

"I think it's more of the machine fanclub than Eggman's," Eve says.

Then Sally says, "Don't be such a spoil sport, Antone. C'mon, let's see about shutting this place down."

"Yeah. Let's get the show on the road," Sonic says.

Soon, the group begins to walk around the Chemical Plant Zone and find a way to shut it down.

"Wow this place is deceptively huge!" Sally says.

"I was knowing it! We are trapped here forever!" Antoine says, dramatically.

"Give it a rest, 'Twan. We can find our way out easily," Boomer says.

"The real problem is finding the way we want to go," Sally says.

"Yeah. This place looks like a kind of maze," Eve says.

Sonic then looks at the pipes, "All these pipes have to go somewhere, right?"

Eve looks at the pipes and says, "I think we can speed through them and find where we need to go!"

"I'm sure I can find out which pipe we need to follow, and…" Tails says.

Suddenly, Sonic laughs, "Yeah-yeah-yeah! Race ya, sis!"

"You're on, bro!" Eve says.

Just then, both Sonic and Eve head off in the pipes.

Tails laugh, "Ha ha ha! You're both crazy!"

"Chao Chao!" Jazz says and follows Tails.

Soon, Sonic and Eve begin to travel in different pipes as Tails and Jazz find the directions that will lead them to a way out. Using his twin tails, Tails begins to explore around the Chemical plant to find a way out with Jazz.

Suddenly, Tails released, "Ah-HA!"

Just then, Sonic and Eve pop out of the pipes while Tails realizes the direction.

All of them end up meeting up as they call out, "We need to go this way!"

"Cheater! You followed me up here!" Sonic says, grabbing tails and ruffles his head.

Tails laugh, "Ha ha! No, I didn't!"

Just then, the others arrive on a floating platform.

"Y'know… You could've waited another minute, gone around the bend with us and found the elevator," Sally says.

"Yeah… but where would the fun be in that?" Sonic questions, shrugging his shoulders.

"Sonic, Tails, Jazz, and I like to have a little fun in our adventures," Eve says.

"Chao Chao," Jazz happily says.

Soon enough, the group arrives in a different room. This place seems to have a lot of floating blocks and many are close together.

"This looks like a supply delivery route…" Sally says.

"Cool, we'll just hop one of these crates and ride our way to the top!" Sonic says.

"They look pretty heavy. Whatever is pulling them up should be enough to carry our weight, too!" Boomer says.

"I don't know! Sally says, unsure. "This all seems too convenient."

"You guys worry too much," Sonic says, and hops on one of the carriers. "Woo-ha!"

"Let's go!" Eve says and follows as Jazz follows her from behind.

Tails soon follows, "Wait for me! Wheeeee!"

Soon, Sonic, Eve, Tail, and Jazz ride on the carriers as they go up.

Antoine feels uneasy, "Must we be ze leaping wizout ze looking? Last time Eve and moi were nearly drown-ed."

"You both made it out okay. You both even saved Sonic!" Sally reassures him. "The real problem in the labyrinth zone was the-" and right on cue, the tremor begins to occur, "EARTHQUAKE!"

Suddenly, there's a clanging sound, which is the door sealing their way in, and a hatch opens. Soon, the carrier room begins to fill up in the purple chemical.

"I knew it would be a trap!" Sally says.

"This place is filling up with Mega Muck!" Boomer says.

"Mega-what?" Sonic asks.

"Mega Muck! A viscous polymer with toxic properties!" Tails panics.

"Meaning?" Sonic questions.

"It means, if we don't find a way out of here, we're going to drown in poisonous chemicals!" Eve answers.

Then Sonic says, "Eve. Tails. Start flying them up. I'll make our way out."

"O-okay!" Tails answers.

"On it," Eve says, and uses her Chaos energy to levitate up.

Eve and Tails fly down using their abilities.

Sally calls out, "Antoune, go! We'll start climbing!"

"Oui!" Antoine and Tails pick him up.

Eve is able to fly down and uses her Chaos energy to levitate herself and Sally up. Meanwhile, Sonic uses his spin dash to barge his way out.

He then lands on the block on top and calls out, "Door's open at the top!"

"RRRGH- Thanks!" Tails answers.

Eve uses her Chaos Energy to levitate herself, Sally, and Boomer in the air.

"Your powers are amazing Eve," Sally says.

"Thanks Sally," Eve says.

Everyone soon reaches the top and finds the opening Sonic has made for them. Eve and Tails fly through and are able to reach solid ground.

"Are you guys okay?" Sonic asks.

"We're good," Eve answers.

"Are you okay? All 'heroed' out?" Boomer asks Tails.

Panting, Tails says, "I'm fine…" And sighs, "Whew. I just can't fly too long…"

"That tears it. We shut this place down. Then find Eggman and teach him to try and trap us!" Sonic says.

"Let's not get ahead of ourselves…" Sally says.

"Did the fumes go to your head?" Sonic questions.

"I want to end this quickly, too, but it's like I said earlier. We have to cut his support lines, or we're going to be dealing with him over and over again. If we rush in, somebody's going to get hurt," Sally says.

"Nobody's going to get hurt as long as we're…" Sonic says.

Suddenly something inside Sonic's mind begins to sink in, and he receives memories relapses in his mind.

"Sonic…?" Sally asks, worried.

Just then, Sonic walks off, "Fine, have it your way. You go to the bases. Eve and I are heading for the big man."

"So that's it?" Sally questions. "You're just walking out on us?"

But Sonic says, "I don't walk. I run. It's been fun, guys, later."

Soon, Sonic begins to take their leave.

"Um… I'm going with Sonic. It was nice meeting you, though!" Tails says.

"Likewise," Boomer says.

"Yeah. It's nice meeting you too. Bye," Eve says.

"Chao," Jazz says.

"Bye," Sally says.

Soon, Sonic, Eve, Jazz, and Tails go their separate ways.

Boomer turns to Sally and says, "Antoine and I will stick with you, Sally. You haven't led us astray."

"I am confuse-ed. Were we just dumped?" Antoine questions.

With a frown on her face, Sally then takes her leave, "Let's shut this place down, guys."

"Smooth, 'Twan," Boomer says, narrowing his eyes at Antoine.

Antoine shrugs his shoulders, "What? That is what you are calling it when someone walks out on you, non?"

Boomer gives him the look that reads, 'Not helping.'

Later, Sally, Antoine, and Boomer arrive at the Oil Ocean Zone. They are walking around as they keep their balance to not fall into the oil.

"Not too much further, boys. We shut this place down, and Dr. Eggman loses over half of his energy sources," Sally says.

Boomer walks to Sally, "Sal, I'm sorry if this is a sore topic, but shouldn't we have made an effort to keep Sonic and Eve around?"

Sally remains silent.

"Not to belittle our efforts, but we could really use their skills about now," Boomer adds.

"No, Boomer. You're right," Sally says, "I wasn't… I wasn't thinking back there…"

Suddenly, another tremor appears, and this one is harder than the last one.

Antoine begins to feel sick, "First ze smell of zis place…" and goes "Urp." "And then ze tremors…"

"Mobius is shaking itself apart," Boomer says.

"Then we need to shut down Eggman's plans as fast as possible," Sally says.

The three begin to hurry across the danger of the oil plant. Unknown to them, one of Dr. Eggman's Badniks spot them, and it's not welcoming,

Meanwhile, at Metropolis Zone, Sonic, Eve, Tails, and Jazz are on the Red Tornado, flying over the city's sky.

"We're coming on Dr. Eggman's city, guys!" Eve says.

Then Tails says, "It would be nice if we had some backup, don't you think?"

"Nah. It's better this way. They can handle themselves," Sonic says, working on the device in his hands.

"I meant more about us. We're in way over our heads…" Tail says.

"I have to agree with Tails on it. We're going to be facing Eggman at his main headquarters. It will be nice to have some help," Eve says.

"Don't sweat it, sis and little bro'! Tails, you just keep the Red Tornado safe while Eve and I ruin Egman's day! Then we'll fly off our Happily-Ever-After," Sonic says.

"If you say so…" Tail says.

"Chao Chao," Jazz says and sits on Eve's right shoulder.

"No Jazz," Eve says and picks up Jazz. "It will be safe if you stay with Tails on the Red Tornado," Eve says.

"Chao Chao," Jazz replies with a nod.

Then sits next to Tails on his seat.

Sonic holds out the device, "We'll have my radio on so we can keep in touch. See you in a bit!"

"Keep safe guys," Eve says.

"You too," Tails says.

"Chao Chao," Jazz says.

With that, Sonic and Eve jump off the Red Tornado and make their way down to Eggman's city. They slide down on one of the towers. Then they spin dash through one of the windows and land on the ground of Eggman's building.

"Now- to handle the doc while everyone else is at a safe distance," Sonic says.

Then turns to Eve, "Ready sis."

"Ready as always, bro," Eve says.

"Then ready or not, Eggman! Here we come!" Sonic says.

With that, Sonic and Eve begin to set off to find Eggman, and defeat him and his plans once and for all.
