Leena's POV

I was on the shuttle with Liara, Saren, Shepard, and James on our way to Menae. Cypher was perched on Liara's shoulder as Cortez drove the shuttle off of the Normandy. It wasn't long until one of the screens lit up and on it revealed the devastation on Palaven.

"Oh no, no" Liara began seeing the screen as well. "Not Palaven"

Saren saw the screen too and he wasn't happy seeing his homeworld being destroyed.

"Holy hell they're being decimated," James said.

"Indeed they are" Saren growled.

"Strongest military in the galaxy and the Reapers are obliterating it" Shepard agreed.

"Saren I'm so sorry this is happening"

Saren nodded just as Cortez announced the shuttle was getting swarmed. Cypher flew to my arm while James opened the hatch.

"Only burn down anything that is Reaper related" I ordered Cypher and the Metal Dragon nodded before he took flight.

He spotted Husks and let out a battle roar before burning the zombies all to hell. When the shuttle landed we all got out and joined in on the shooting of enemies. Nearby other turian soldiers were shooting down any enemies that came in their direction.

"We need to go find the Commanding Officer" Saren suggested after we dealt with round one of enemies.

A turian soldier told us the Commanding Officer was around the corner and behind the first barricade. Shepard thanked him before we followed the human Spectre where we needed to go. As we approached the barricade I couldn't stop glancing at the big ass Reaper in the distance. I also saw the many fires on Palaven and I hoped to god my husband and his family were okay.

Our group arrived at our destination and nearby a turian called to his companions to hold fire. The Commanding Officer was a turian that looked to be in his mid-thirties. His face was brown and he had white markings and green eyes.

"Commander Shepard I heard you were coming but I didn't believe it, General Corinthus"

Corinthus then noticed Saren was with us.

"Arterius sir" the general then saluted the older turian.

"At ease" Saren replied and returned the salute. "We've come to get Primarch Fedorian"

At the mention of the Primarch, the general paused for a second before continuing.

"Primarch Fedorian is dead his shuttle was shot down an hour ago as it tried to leave the moon"

"Spirits" Saren muttered.

"I'm sorry for your loss" Shepard responded giving Corinthus his condolences. "How bad are things here?"

"We lost about four hundred men in half an hour, we set camps up on this moon as an advance position to flank the enemy, a sound strategy just"

"Irrelevant" Saren added.

Corinthus agreed.

"So what happens now?" Shepard wondered.

"The turian hierarchy provides very clear lines of succession" Liara explained.

"I was once nominated for the hierarchy but I refused it" Saren interjected. "I preferred to travel instead of being stuck in an office all day"

Corinthus chuckled at the Spectre before continuing.

"With such heavy casualties it's hard for me to be certain who the next Primarch is, Palaven Command will know but right now contacting them is proving impossible since the comm tower is out, Husks have been swarming the area and we can't get close to repair it"

Shepard volunteered that we would take care of that and the general thanked us before we parted ways from him. Saren and Liara spotted the tower and our group headed in that direction.

The walk to the tower didn't take long and sure enough, it was surrounded by Husks. Cypher decided to use his claws and fangs to fight while we unleashed round two on the Husks with our weapons. Shepard and Saren killed some Husks using their biotics.

When it was clear we arrived at the tower but it couldn't be repaired from the ground. So someone had to climb up it and repair the damage. The Commander had Liara do that while the rest of us shot down any of the zombies from hell.

"Leena behind you!" James alerted me and I turned to see a Husk had almost caught me off guard. Using my omni-tool I had it form into a blade and I pushed my omni-blade into the zombie.

"Nasty bastard" I hissed before pulling the blade out of the Husk's lifeless body. Liara notified us through our commlinks the tower was back up and running. She rejoined us back on the ground and Shepard got in touch with Corinthus who thanked us and said he was in the midst of trying to contact Palaven Command.

Our group dealt with several more Husks before Corinthus got our attention and told us to return to the main camp. A short walk later we rendezvoused with General Corinthus.

"What have you got?" Shepard asked Corinthus.

"As your partner said, succession is usually simple but right now the hierarchy is in chaos, so many dead or MIA"

"I need someone, I don't care who as long as they can get us the turian resources we need"

"I'm on it Shepard, we'll find you the Primarch" a familiar voice spoke.

I put my guns away before rushing over to my husband and not caring who saw us I threw myself into his arms. Tears of relief went down my face.

"Thank the spirits your alright" I whimpered. "I was so scared you were dead"

"Even the Reapers couldn't tear me apart from you Leena, I've missed you, my love"

My Archangel kissed my forehead before he set me back onto my feet.

"Garrus good to see you alive" Shepard greeted.

Garrus nodded before Corinthus added.

"Vakarian sir I didn't see you arrive, now I feel stupid that I didn't realize the shifter was your wife"

"It's fine general" my mate reassured Corinthus.

Shepard shook hands with Garrus as did Saren and James. Liara said her hellos and Cypher landed on Garrus's shoulder.

"I'd figured you would be on Palaven" Shepard stated.

"If we lose this moon we lose Palaven, I'm the closest damn thing besides Saren as an expert on the Reaper forces so I'm advising, General Corinthus filled me in we know who we're after"

"Palaven Command tells me that the next Primarch is General Adrien Victus" Corinthus informed us.

"Now that's a good choice" Saren responded.

"His name crossed my desk" Liara added.

"I was fighting alongside him this morning, lifelong military gets results and popular with his troops, not so popular with military command has a reputation for playing loose with accepted strategy" Garrus explained.

Liara then talked about Victus and what transpired on Taetrus. I listened with interest because Victus was the man who would one day no doubt be Danielle's father-in-law. He sounded like a good man and I agreed with Saren that Adrien Victus was indeed a good choice for the next Primarch.

"No new scars I see" Cypher teased my husband.

"They're starting to fade" Garrus reminded the Metal Dragon.

"True but I still like them"

I gave my husband a quick peck on the cheek where his scars were and James wolf-whistled. Garrus in return kissed my forehead.
