The movies definitely didn't show the full effects of the transportation, thought Barbara as she tried to gather her bearings. The travelling deposited the person at the destination point in the same position he was taken from point of origin. And at the same height as the point of origin. So, the reality traveler found herself some distance above the floor before soundly falling down on her bottom. She slowly got back on her legs, rubbing the sore spot and took a good look around.
She was deposited right next to a huge window and she was willing to take a bet that it was the same spot O'Neill was standing when Thor had notified about the future negotiations. The view was magnificent. Her breathing picked up some speed as she kept looking down on the planet. The girl leant her forehead on the glass. It was cool. Black edges that previously started creeping at the edge of her vision and had nothing to do with the darkness of the space started slowly to ebb back as she managed to get her breathing under control.
A flash of light reflecting in the glass, accompanied by a sound alerted Barbara and she quickly turned back, snarling at the arrivee. There was Thor sitting in his chair, as if he didn't just kidnap her. (He didn't. Part of the Alliance of Four Races the Asgardians had had with the Ancient was that if an Ancient was found, and not really behaving as required, they were to help the Ancient. And then depending on the situation provide the needed assistance. Be that assistance medical, resources or reunite them with the rest of the Community.)
"Greetings, Barbara," the Asgardian greeted the girl.
"Take me back."
"I will not," declined Thor, making his weird slow shake with the head. "During the negotiations it will be catastrophic for you to be found on the Tau'ri planet."
"Which are not occurring for several days. But I am not even an Ancient!" exclaimed Barbara, throwing her hands up in exasperation. "It's just what everybody hears when I speak! How will it be catastrophic?"
Thor just ben his head to the side in a very bird-like manner.
"I am from the Earth. Just, not this one in particular."
"A reality traveler."
"Not by choice," murmured Barbara, before tacking on. "So, I have also stake for this Earth to be accepted into the Protected Planet Treaty."
She spied some control panels behind the throne Thor was sitting on. Jack had managed to figure them out in one of the episodes when he was trapped on the ship with the Replicators. She might be able to figure them out as well. If she had the time. If the Asgardian did not send her back. She will get back.
"You will not be able to be present during the Treaty negotiations on the Earth," replied Thor. "The Goa'uld would not hesitate to demand you as one of the concessions for the Treaty."
At the end Barbara was not left for some Tet-a-Tet time with the controls. Thor quickly forced, read – transported with a flash of light, her into a room, which had the magnificent view into the space, had one of the comfiest beds she had ever chance to lie on and a very much closed door which didn't react to her in any way.
Trapped.
Fuck.
"We are not going to comment on Thor kidnapping Barbara?" questioned Daniel as he and the rest of the SG-1 were going to the debrief on the Goa'ulds that were coming to the negotiate.
"No. We are not," hissed O'Neill through his teeth. He got used to the kid at the base. But he couldn't really believe that Thor would kidnap the kid so easily without 'by your leave', without any explanation. There was nothing to comment without any background knowledge. Maybe the grey man will be able to help her get back to her reality.
"This is unlike you, O'Neill," commented Teal'c on the man's response.
"We don't have any concrete reasons for Thor's actions," Carter jumped into explanation. "We have only ideas why it had happened. It could be because of her speaking the language, as it was the case with O'Neill, when they had helped to erase the knowledge of the Ancients from his mind."
"We don't really know the full content of the Alliance of four races, so it could be something connected to it. For all we know, she might actually be an Ancient…"
The team soon arrived at the briefing room where the they quickly separated, with Daniel going to the computer to set his presentation and the rest taking their places around the room. When the rest of the personnel had arrived, the archeologist started his lecture.
"Thor, you cannot keep me here! You have already tried to remove the knowledge of the language from my head. It didn't work! Let me out!"
It was very hard to tell the passage of time in her cell. Barbara couldn't call the room anything else, as the Asgardian had locked her in and didn't let her out to roam the spaces of his spaceship. As she was gearing up for another banging time of causing racket the door had opened. The girl didn't waste her time and quickly left the room to start her exploring.
The Earth spaceships in the later episodes were built with the help of the Asgardians, but she didn't read that far yet on the internet. Could she try and find the schematics? Yes, absolutely. Did she have enough attention span for that right now? Absolutely not. So there she was, going deeper into the spaceship, getting more and more lost with every step. Barbara had figured that the open door was some kind of a trap from the Asgardian. But she couldn't figure out what he was trying to gain that way.
(Absolutely nothing. Thor would gain nothing by letting Barbara roam free, except if she had stumbled into a control panel with Transportation controls. Then depending on what buttons, she would press she might get started something that should not be started. Decompression, fire, start of the hyperdrive, turn off the shields. Really, there were mostly downsides to letting her roam free.)
"Thank you, Doctor Jackson," General Hammond thanked the archeologist as the lights came on at the end of the debrief. The general took position in front of the screen that still had the last slide of the presentation on it and a small stack of papers in his hands. If anyone was looking over the man's shoulder they would have recognized it as the Barbara's Papers. "Teal'c, you will assist Major Castleman with base security. Doctor Jackson, I would like you to act as liaison to the Goa'uld.
"According to Thor, Treaty Laws will not permit weapons of any kind in this facility during negotiations. And I mean it," continued the General only to be interrupted by exclamations of disbelief from O'Neill.
"We are acting on information provided by Barbara and by trusting Asgard based on your word, Colonel. That is their rule and that is what happened in the information provided. We will keep, just in case the TERs* and the healing device. Everything else will have to be stored. Including the zat-guns and the staffs," Hammond was looking Teal'c in the eyes as he was naming the weapons.
"You've all received folders that include your individual assignments, preparation instruction as laid out by the Asgard. There's a lot of work to do people and not much time."
