CH 68
When MacGyver walked past the guard house she gave the guards a wave which they did back since she was in her DBNU. She got her phone out of her pocket when she smiled when she saw Jim show up on his motorbike.
"Hey good timing, i was going to call for a taxi"
"Why call a taxi when you got me, so shore leave"
"Yes, so take me home" she sorted out her bag and put the jacket and helmet on then got onto the back of the bike then Jim turned around and drove home.
When they arrived home MacGyver did her normal things. When she was in the shower, Jim joined her which she didn't mind him doing. Afterwards they spent time in bed making love. That night they went out to dinner and went and got some groceries for home and had an early night.
Two days later MacGyver was in the supermarket getting things she needed to take with her onto Hammersley since she on the afternoon shift when her phone rang, when she saw it was a crash sail text message and how much time she got, she quickly got what she needed and went up to the counter and put everything through then she walked to her car then drove home where she got change while calling Jim only to get his answer phone
"hi hon, sorry i won't be home, Hammersley has crash sailed, I'll call you later, love you" then she hung up.
She got back into her car and drove to where all senior sailor cars can park then she grabbed her bag and walked to the security gate showing them her ID then she walked through the gate and ran towards Hammersley.
When she arrived she went to her cabin and drop her bag off, then she went to find out what was going on. When everyone was on the back of the boat Kate and the lieutenant commander showed up.
"Hammersley crew this is lieutenant commander Steve Coburn our new CO" Kate said
"I'll be looking ford to getting to know each of you over the next few weeks, X you can take her out and can one of you show me the captain cabin"
"I'll show you sir, i'm petty officer June Roff, everyone calls me MacGyver sir"
"Thank you MacGyver, Hammersley crew dismiss" Kate said They all turn one way then they relax and walk towards the hatch.
MacGyver shows the captain to his cabin. "Sir, up the stairs here would lead you to the bridge"
"thank you MacGyver" He walked into his cabin while she walks up to the bridge
"X why the crash sail"
"May Day, we will be back about one in the morning"
"so much for our shore leave"
"True, but how was your's"
"It was short but great, you"
"same here" Kate gave the orders then Hammersley left port and headed to where the may day is.
On the way the crew talk about what shore leave they did have. When they reached the boat charge, two dads went over to see if they could fix the problem while Steve got to meet some of the crew. They ended up towing the boat back to port. MacGyver received a text from Jim which she replied back to him.
It was after two in the morning when Hammersley dock, everyone except for the ones who were on watch went to bed and got some sleep. The next morning the crew started taking boxes on board. MacGyver was with Dutchy going over the list as each box was taken on board.
"MacGyver why have you got the medical and the food list" Dutchy asked
"Cause i'm not only the chief but the medic as well"
"Swain the medic"
"Yeah, I know but I like to make sure we got everything on board. Don't worry you will get used to it."
"You could help take the boxes on board."
"dutchy i know you're new here but you will understand how we do things differently, ask any of the crew here."
"I will."
"Dutchy, MacGyver she double check everything, if one item that on the list that not on board, she let the captain know and he gets RO to find out where the missing box is" two dads said
"Really"
"Yep it can be from flour, coffee, to toilet paper."
"Ouch you gotta have that" she smile
"True, even medical supplies are very important"
"Does Not Swain hand that part"
"Only what in the wardroom it the items from here on the wharf that go onto hammersley which is important"
"Ok" When all the boxes are on board, MacGyver went to check again and talk to swain about the medical stuff. When done she walk up onto the bridge.
"X we not leaving port" the captain turn to her
"Excuse me we are leaving port petty officer"
"all due respect sir, we not, we are seven boxes missing"
"what missing" Kate asked MacGyver showed her the clipboard.
She showed Steve, Kate pointed out the items that did not mark, she turned the page to see what items are missing. "Sir we got to find out where these items are, especially the medical supplies"
"Are you sure that they not on board" he asked
"I triple check everything sir"
"Sir she dose double, triple every thing"
"sir i know the CO of the supplies room and he told me that there has been boxes and supplies been disappearing since he started there"
"Dose NAVCOM know about this"
"Yes sir"
"Ok i'll call NAVCOM about this"
"ah sir, RO called the supply depo about the missing boxes and they send out the ones we didn't get and X sign the paperwork for the replacement missing boxes" MacGyver said
"Ok" he turn to RO
"Call the depo and let them know about the missing boxes" he pass RO, the clipboard.
He looked at the list "I'm on to it now sir" then he turned around and made the call.
Fifteen minutes later MacGyver and Kate was checking to make sure the seven boxes that were needed, when it was and was on Hammersley. Kate sign the papers and the driver pass her a copy of it then he got into the van and drove back to the port depo while Kate and MacGyver walk up onto Hammersley
"Everything on board sir"
"Very well X" Ten minutes later they left port and headed out to sea for their patrol.
After two weeks they stop off an island where the captain decided to have some R and R with the crew. Most of the crew was on the beach playing touch rugby and there were a couple of crew members who were armed because of crocs in the area. MacGyver was one of the ones on watch with her gun when two dads accidently kick the ball into the tree line
"go and get it two dads" Kate said
"I'll go with him" MacGyver said as she followed two dads. They look around
"there it is" two dads said as he walk close to the edge
"Stop" Two dads stop and turn to MacGyver which pick up a branch and broke some of the branches off it then pass it to him
"Try going under it and lift it up" she said
Two dads did what she said and got it out and was in his hands in seconds "thanks MacGyver" he turn around when he notice she walk looking around on the ground
"what is it"
"footprints at least a day, two old, there someone else on here, at least five different footprints" then she follow them then stop ten miters away where a fallen tree is
"Two dads, get the captain"
"why" he walk over and saw what MacGyver found "What the"
"they where skin and the holes there and there" she pointed "Eggs nest, poachers"
"Hey MacGyver two dads, coming on" Dutchy called out
"dutchy get the captain now i found something" MacGyver yell out.. Dutchy turn ran back to the beach
"sir MacGyver found something" then they all ran to where two dads and MacGyver is and stop when they saw the crocs
"the mongrels, they even took the eggs" Steve said
"there was least five men" macGyver said
"how do you know" Dutchy said
"Foot prints, and with this at least a day or two old, Sir we going to need a camera to take photos of the foot prints and this" she pointed to the dead crocs
"I agree" Swain said
"Ok do it.
An Hours later Steve contacted Maxine about what was found and RO sent copies of the photos to her. Then they set sail to a town not far away for a goodwill visit. MacGyver was on the back of the boat making a call. She smile when she saw his face
"Hi hon" she said
"Hey how your patrol"
"Busy, how did your training go"
"Good, so where are you, i can hear music in the background"
"Goodwill visit in a small town. Today we stop off an island for some R and R when two dads kick the football in the trees"
"sounds like him"
"Yeah, I went with him because the area we where is croc central. While there i found six skin crocs and eggs missing for the nest, looks like they must of been three females and three males who just laid there eggs"
"that horrible"
"It is that why we are here, captain gone to talk to the police and i did some research on the crocs"
"Oh what did you find out"
"This is the time of year when the females lay there eggs and one croc skin worth over a thousand dollars each on the black market and the eggs are worth about hundred and each female lays between forty to sixty eggs each"
"that a lot of money"
"It is Jim croc poaching is a million dollar busniess here"
"Well i hope you catch them poachers"
"Same here."
"How is the new captain"
"Steve Corburn, is seems ok but you know me"
"Keeping an open mind"
"Yeah, i was thinking when i return and you got the weekend off that we hire a boat for the night and go up north"
"What did you have in mind" he said smiling
"Remember our honeymoon boat trip for the day"
"Yeah i do, sounds wonderful"
"I knew you would love it" They talk about other things before hanging up.
She walked towards the hatch when she stop behind the HRIB's then step back when she heard two dads and captain talking then she saw the captain walking up onto hammersley do MacGyver pretend to walk to the back of the boat when he almost bump into her
"Sir are you ok"
"Yeah I'm fine" he walked past her, she notice his red knuckles and the way he was holding his ribs. She turn to see two dads walk up onto hammersley
"what the hell going on two dads"
"i don't want to talk about it"
"Ward room now" she said in a tone he knew. She follows him down and into the ward room where she clean his face up, she noticed that he was in some pain
"Lift your shirt" He lift his shirt
"Bloody hell two dads what happens" when she saw the bruising.
He told her about the bar he and the others went to and what happened in there, when he returned to confront the owner, the fights, taking the croc, the croc getting killed and returning back to Hammersley.
"Two dads who was the other person"
"I can't say"
"Two dads tell me"
"It was coburn"
"right, you lie down here and i get a heating pack for the bruises" then she walk out of the ward room and went to get couple heating packs then return when she saw bird
"Bird can you go and wake up the X, i'll be in the ward room"
"sure, is everything ok"
"It will be" then they went their separate ways. When MacGyver returned she wet the two bags and put them in the microwave and started it up while looking at two dads who were on his side.
When the microwave beep she took the two bags out and walked over and carefully put them on his bruises. He hiss in pain then relax "This would help"
"I thought ice would"
"For your head yes, this will help bring out the rest of the bruising and relax the muscles since they would be a bit swollen and tender to touch"
