Nirrti stretched on her armchair before elegantly rising and heading for the door. Cronus and Yu were still sitting, each with his food. As she moved by Cronus, he slightly turned to catch her eye and elevated a brow.
"I have a headache I am going to rest in my room," the System Lord explained before leaving to her room.
Nirrti had it all figured out.
During the negotiations, she would call Teal'c into Cronus' room and would harm them. When both will be discovered, the wounds will be heavy enough to cause a pause in the negotiations. And then the Tauri will try to heal both. And the Tauri medicine would not work. And then she will have trouble using the healing device and 'oh, what a pity'. Cronus will die. The negotiations will fall through due to an attack on the System Lord. And oh, would you look at that – a scapegoat. No, The Scapegoat. The Sholva will be blamed. As he has the reasons for that. After all, Cronus was the one to kill Teal'c's father. And of course, the Earth will fall. After all, they don't have any defenses and they will be completely stripped of their gates.
She had it all figured.
And then came Barbara. A girl, of another race (although she was holding her judgment on that front, she seemed human enough), who single-handedly managed to mangle her plan. And who apparently was holding information of future events. Because otherwise there was no chance, she knew about her plan. Nirrti was very careful in planning and preparing everything. And yet she knew.
So Nirrti had planned it all out. Again.
Even though the Tauri and the Goa'uld were aware of her cloaking device, she could still use it. There were no cameras in the rooms provided to them by the Tauri. Just to be sure she pulsed her Kara Kesh and as she found nothing, she activated the invisibility function and left the room.
(If she had stayed just a bit longer, she would have known that the Tauri did indeed install a video camera, which after the pulse took some time to shut down with some smoke.)
Now then…
The hardest part of the plan is to find the location of the brat on the base. But considering her value she would most likely will have posted some guards outside her room. So, all she had to do was to find a room with guards posted outside, for 'protection'. Nirrti quietly snuck past the guards posted on 'the Goa'uld floor' and headed for the elevator. She will find the girl soon enough.
She found the room. It was time.
Knocking out these imbeciles was easier than she expected. Although being invisible did have its advantages. A quick pat-down provided her with keys which she took and quickly opened the door.
The girl inside was pacing, waving her arms around and muttering as she made another round around the room. Nirrti left the door as she advanced inside. The girl still didn't notice her, or the open door or the airmen lying on the floor.
Nirrti will have it all.
"She will try another plan," Yu murmured some time after Nirrti left for her room.
"Let her," Cronus waved his hand dismissively. He plucked another raisin and savored it. "She will fail. If she does succeed, the brat will be ours anyway."
Both System Lords sat quietly. Yu continued to enjoy his tea. When the negotiations would fall through, he will have to take control of the tea sources. It was some good tea. He rested the cup back on its plate.
"If she fails, the Tauri might have the chance to return everything back to the way they know that the events should develop."
Cronus huffed. He picked another grape. Then the System Lord jumped out of his armchair before leaving the room. The door snapped shut behind him. They should really tie her down. At least for now. To prevent unfavorable development of events.
Yu glanced at the now newly closed door before raising his cup to take another sip, only to find he had run out of the tea.
Cronus growled as he was followed by the airmen around the base. They would not let him roam free on the base. He could understand that. But he really didn't care. He spied one of the soldiers talking into a phone.
Cronus would not acknowledge the developing tick in his eye. All he wanted was to beat Nirrti down to the prize. As he rounded another corner he came face to face with their 'Translator' and the Sholva who was accompanying him.
"Can we help you?" Daniel asked Cronus after greeting the System Lord. Teal'c who was standing behind the archeologist kept staring at the System Lord, watching his every move, ready to jump in if needed.
Cronus ignored the bespectacled man and continued his path, but it was promptly blocked by the Sholva.
"If there's nothing, we can help you with or you don't want anything, return to your floor," Teal'c's monotone filled the corridor. His face was frozen in a mask. Daniel glanced at the Jaffa in surprise. What he had just said was almost the politest he had ever heard Teal'c talk to a Goa'uld.
Cronus stared down at the former prime of Apophis.
"How deep you've fallen, Sholva," the System Lord sneered, his hands resting on his hips. "Now carrying out the instructions of humans, who are beneath even you. Having to respond to their superiors. You have just exchanged your Lord for another."
"They are beneath no one," Teal'c snapped. "I have left Apophis, but I have not gained a new Lord, for the Humans do not have anyone claiming to be a false God."
Jaffa and the Goa'uld continued the stare down. Daniel glanced between the two and considering his chances in stopping the fight between the two. As he was preparing himself mentally to break up the tension between the two aliens an airman walked towards the archeologist and whispered into his ear.
"What?" couldn't help himself Daniel as he exclaimed over the news given him. He then turned to Jaffa. "Teal'c, Nirrti disabled her camera."
"Camera? So, you were spying on us in our rooms?" Cronus bellowed, his eyes flashing the white light. His voice reverberated in the corridor, and he could see slight signs of fear among these soldiers. Good. They should fear him.
"No, we were not. They were installed for your safety," Daniel raised his hands, palms towards the enraged Goa'uld. This was getting bad. Nirrti was on the loose and right now the Goa'uld could be even behind any of them, ready to kill Cronus or Teal'c or do anything else. It was good they were cut off from the upper floors, just in case she had decided to go up and outside. Cronus was getting enraged, and they would have to take some time to placate him over the cameras. It was a good thing that Yu still didn't know about the cameras.
"You will disable them. Immediately!"
"Now even more of the reason we cannot disable them. They are for your safety."
Another airman walked towards Daniel and whispered something in his ear.
"What?" exclaimed Daniel for the second time. "Apologies, Lord Cronus. We will have to request your return to the room provided to you. It is for your protection," The archeologist quickly bowed to the System Lord before tapping Teal'c on his shoulder and both stormed towards the elevator.
The airmen who were escorting Cronus previously returned to their positions. The Goa'uld looked at the display above the elevator to see what floor they had arrived at before striding up the elevator and calling it to come to him.
Nirrti was likely to be filching something from the base right now, if, of course, she had not found the girl. Which knowing her luck, could really be the case.
The elevator had finally dinged signalizing it had arrived at the floor and the elevator doors opened with a whoosh. Cronus climbed inside and pressed the button. The doors closed right before the noses of the airmen who were following him.
He did love his chaos, but only if it was him causing it.
Barbara stopped for a bit. It was lighter than it should be in the room. She glanced towards the door. It was open and the soldiers who were stationed here were just lying on the floor.
She didn't have enough time to express her surprise as a hand clamped on her throat. She tried to force it off, but it held strong. She was quickly pulled by the same hand so that she was facing the door, her ear near the mouth of the owner of the hand.
"Hello there, Bar~ba~ra," Nirrti's quiet voice melodically pronounced her name and Barbara felt how the goosebumps rose up to her arms. "It is so nice to meet you face to face."
Nirrti: is a Hindu goddess, personifying death, decay, and sorrows. The Sanskrit word Nirṛti means 'decay' and is derived from nirṛ (lit. 'to separate'). It can be interpreted as meaning "devoid of ṛta/i", a state of disorder or chaos. (Wikipedia)
