Barbara groaned as she was laying face down on the table and trying to stretch out the kinks in her back in Daniel's office. As soon as she deemed her stretch sufficient for now, she shifted her position to look at Daniel, who was absorbed in the documents that had accumulated in the past week. The linguist was working no-stop. And it is no wonder as he was not only a member of a SG team but also the main linguist and the head of the department here at SGC.

Barbara was done with her assignment in the Ancient that Daniel had had ready for her for today and she had also just finished retyping the sixth season. She couldn't really find it in herself to start retyping the seventh right now. Her left hand was spasming and she had also had a problem with turning that hand in the elbow. A yawn escaped before she could cover it. A glance to the wall showed that it was approaching midnight. As she had enough time to study the habits of the good linguist Barbara asked.

"Coffee?"

"Uh? Ah, yes, please," the question had startled Daniel from his focus and the man took the opportunity to take off his glasses and rub his eyes as Barbara prepared the coffee from the powder that he had in his office for when the canteen was closed. He also glanced at the clock after returning the glasses to their position. Soon a steaming cup of coffee was sitting on the table and Daniel waved Barbara good night as the girl left his office to try and catch some sleep.

Daniel absentmindedly blew on his coffee as he gazed at the door of his office.

Another trip to the outside was in order.

The SGC had just finished dealing with one of Ma'chello's tablets that he had planted to kill Goa'ulds. Luckily, yeah… 'luckily', the SGC was very prepared for the situation and Daniel had managed to avoid a stay in the mental hospital. The moment he started showing the symptoms the SGC got Carter to shake hands with Daniel, forcing all the larvae into herself. Ten minutes later all the larvae were dead. After another half an hour Sam and Daniel were both on their feet as if nothing had happened. Teal'c kept a small distance just in case, but it was clearly seen on his emotionless expression that he was glad that Ma'chello's invention was quickly neutralized.

And now SG-1 was preparing for the exchange mission with Orban. They were slightly changing their offer to the Orbans. Not only would SGC offer them information about the Goa'ulds with Teal'c's help, but also, they would additionally offer a tour around the neighborhood. That offer would stand especially if they would manage to request Merrin's help with the studies of the naquada reactor. Maybe they could offer it to more kids before their Averium, or maybe to visit the school for more hours.

And because SG-1 was busy with their mission the 'baby-sitting' duty had fallen on SG-3.

"Hello, Barbara!" the warm voice of Robert Makepeace greeted her as she entered Daniel's office to check if Daniel has any new documents for her to translate. She smiled, waving her free hand at the man. The other hand was holding her phone at which she previously was looking. The battery of the device was still going strong, not showing any change in the percentage from the moment she had her phone.

"Barbara," the archeologist quickly gained her attention. As soon as she was looking back at him Daniel had continued. "Since SG-1 are currently busy, SG-3 was tasked with watching over you. I also had suggested they take you for a tour around Colorado Springs which they had taken into consideration."

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" The smile at the prospect of going outside bloomed on her face, eyes shining even through the small slits that had become her eyes. Barbara rushed at Daniel, almost knocking him off his feet as she hugged the linguist. The man was a god-sent to her and her mental health as he really tried to help maintain her sanity as she was mostly locked at the base.

"Yeah, no problem," Daniel chuckled patting the top of her head. The hug only intensified, and Barbara didn't look like she was going to release him for some time. Exasperated at the childish behavior Daniel glanced at colonel Makepeace who was also in the office and was chuckling at the image before him.

"Knock, knock," O'Neill's voice was heard from the entrance to the office as the man himself entered the office. At the sight of his exasperated linguist with a girl attached to his middle and a chuckling leader of SG-3, he couldn't stop himself. "Good news?"

"The best! Well, not the best. The best would have been if there was a way for me to go home. But good news, yes! I am going outside!" Barbara released Doctor Jackson to look at O'Neill. Jack and Makepeace looked at each other, before expectantly turning towards Daniel for translation.

"SG-3 will be taking the Barbara-sitting duty during our mission and Barbara was expressing her satisfaction at the possible prospect of a trip to outside," Daniel quickly explained, with the girl confirming it with a nod.

"I see. Well, it is time to suit up Danny-boy. We are moving out soon," Jack said. He then turned and, on his way out he ruffled Barbara's hair. "Be good for SG-3, Barbie."

"Stop messing my hair! And stop using that nickname!" the offending colonel just laughed at the indignant response as he turned left in the corridor.

"I will also leave not to disturb your last-minute preparations," Makepeace nodded to Jackson and then continued to Barbara. "Barbara, we will be meeting up in the Mess in an hour. We will discuss the possible itinerary of the tour."

After getting a nod of confirmation from the girl the colonel also left the office.

"Daniel, will I be able to see Merrin?"

"We don't even know if we will be able to request her help in studying the reactor. But I don't see why not."

SG-1 left without fanfare and Barbara found herself treading towards the Mess. She soon was waved over by Makepeace to a table at which the rest of his team were sitting.

"Barbara, this is my team. Major Carl Warren, Major Castleman, and Lieutenant Daniel Johnson," colonel Makepeace quickly introduced the men sitting around the table. Barbara greeted all of them before expectantly looking at Makepeace. The man looked at the girl before elevating his eyebrow. "We are not going out now, Barbra."

Hearing this her smile dimmed a bit and turned into a pout before she tried to make puppy eyes.

"She really is like a puppy with a prospect of a walk," whispered Johnson to Warren but it was not quiet enough and Barbara turned to look at him, a scowl, and a low growl reverberating in her throat. The man quickly raised his hands up, palms towards the girl. She just huffed at his behavior, before turning up her nose, a small smile back on her face. Johnson barked a laugh at the ridiculousness of the interaction, with the rest of the members joining in the laugh.

"We still have our assignments on the base, but we should be done with them in a day or two and after we can take you to a tour around Springs," added Castleman as soon as the team calmed down.

"Castleman is right. So, for now, you will be with me in my office. Do you have anything to do?" Makepeace asked.

"Yes, I have some new documents Daniel had wanted me to look over. I also need to start on retyping of the new season," confirmed Barbara, taking her time to type out the answer for the team to hear.

"Very well."
