When Kawalsky and Samantha had arrived it still caught O'Neill by surprise, even though he knew to expect their arrival from Barbara's notes. They brought the mirror from Area 51 where it was staying for studying and there was a soldier watching the device.
His team together with SG-3 took shifts to stay with Barbara who was still unconscious from whatever had happened during the kidnapping. Dr. Fraiser did tell them that Barbara should wake in the coming days, but both teams decided to spend the time with the girl so that she wasn't alone. As it was his turn to stay with Barbara, he didn't miss how Carter was brought to the infirmary. He was ready to fight whomever it was who caused her presence in the Infirmary as well when he noticed that she had long hair. His Carter didn't have long hair.
It was the beginning of "Point of view".
"O'Neill."
"General," the colonel greeted his boss as the man himself entered the Infirmary after the wrong-Carter was settled. He didn't have enough time to formulate his confusion as Kawalsky entered the infirmary.
"Yes, these are alternate reality Carter and Kawalsky," confirmed the General.
"Wait, you believe us?" questioned Carter as she had her blood pressure taken. "That we are from an alternate reality."
"We were tipped-off," confirmed O'Neill as he kept looking at the alternate copy of his best buddy.
"How?" a nurse came to Kawalsky and tried to begin his checkup, as the colonel tried to wave her off.
"We had our own man also travel to an alternate reality, so we know it is a possibility," confirmed the General as he nodded at Dr. Fraiser that showed from her office and pointed with his chin at the alternate pair. The doctor noticed the pair, stopping momentarily before continuing with a more confident pace.
"Janet!" greeted the Alternate Carter the doctor. She smiled at the woman before turning to the General.
"I have read the files, don't worry. I'll send them to you as soon as we are done here." The General nodded at the confirmation and quickly left the infirmary.
O'Neill was left with the pair of two very familiar people but a complete stranger to both. He awkwardly made some small talk before leaving to Barbara's bed.
"We have managed to catch the culprits, but they are not really talking," grimaced Makepeace as his fingers traced the corners of the documents in front of him.
"The pair had managed to send off the information and as of now the team was unable to trace it," continued Carter. "I am also a bit worried about the damage to the device and the possible effect it will have on Barbara."
The members of SG-1 and Sg-3 looked at each other before General Hammond voiced the question they had all.
"What exactly do you mean?"
"Sir, the only methods to wake up that Barbara didn't try were destroying her phone and… suicide," Carter swallowed before she continued. "It was deemed too risky to try. Now, when Barbara wakes up, we can try and confirm one of the theories. Due to overdose, Barbara was dead for some time before the EMT managed to pull her out."
"We actually cannot really rule out any of these 'theories'," added Jackson, his face in a grimace at the thought. "We don't know exactly when the phone was damaged. If the phone was damaged before, during the while she was… um… unalive… or after it. So, we are still left with this question."
All present grimaced at the news. Then O'Neill added.
"At least the Mirror was finally transported."
Barbara woke up quietly. Her bleary eyes tried to focus on the ceiling that seemed different to the last one she seemed to remember. She turned her head to the right and saw a man. He had dark brown eyes and short hair sprinkled with grey hairs. Next to him was standing a tall man with a golden mark. She was quite sure that he was not born with this.
"It must have hurt when you were born."
Barbara awoke suddenly startling both the men before Teal'c stepped away from the bed to call Dr. Fraiser. With this done he used the base intercom to call Jackson to the infirmary.
"Hey Barbie," O'Neill greeted the girl who blankly stared at him. He reached to her head, to brush the hair away from her forehead. "Teal'c just stepped to call Fraiser to check you out."
"You look like shit," was what he got as she leaned into his touch.
The colonel chuckled. With the time that he spent with the girl he managed to pick some of the words, and he just chuckled at the girl.
"Brat."
Soon her bed was surrounded by most of the SG-1 and Dr. Fraiser who was checking the girl.
"Welcome back Barbara."
She was required to stay another day under Dr. Fraiser observation after she woke up for the second time. She was still feeling a bit groggy and her body as if filled with lead.
"While you were sleeping, we had the arrival of the alternates," shared Jackson as he sat with the girl.
"Did Carter already try to confirm her feelings with Jack?" Barbara glanced at the archeologist and batted her eyelashes.
"Oh, no," laughed the bespectacled man as he took off his glasses to clean them with his shirt. "Jack had managed to avoid it. He tried not to stay alone with the alternate Sam."
"Did the destabilization start?"
"What is it? What's happening?" The alternate Carter is once again in the infirmary, sitting on a gurney. The same nurse is taking her blood pressure.
"We actually believe it might be entropic cascade failure," confirmed Sam. As she finished stating it Samantha had another warping effect.
"On a cellular level?" asked breathily Samantha.
"Yes," gravely nodded the short-haired Sam. "We actually knew that it would happen."
"Why didn't you say a thing before?" Kawalsky exploded in anger. These people who carried the faces of their friends were keeping their secrets. They still didn't tell of the person who warned them of this event. And now of the possible health condition to the wife of his best friend.
"That is actually why we were constantly questioning you about the other side. The only way to help her is to send her over."
"Where she will be killed by the Goa'uld!"
"Not if we help you," interfered O'Neill.
Barbara was sitting on her bed in the infirmary, her fingers tracing the crack on the phone as she sat kicking her legs. She was not sure how she was feeling about her death. It was quite all numb.
She seemed to remember the light of her phone instead of the usually described light in the tunnel. The phone was also cracked. She was lucky it was still working and only the corner was shattered. She was really lucky. But which was it that brought her home? If even for a bit?
They were meeting in the briefing room to finalize the plan for the other side. SG-1, General Hammond and Barbara, who managed to join only by the virtue of her begging eyes were waiting for the alternate Kawalsky and Samantha.
Kawalsky appeared at the debriefing room door.
"Permission to join the briefing, sir?" he asked standing at the door, Samantha standing right behind him. Hammond gestured the pair to the chairs next to Daniel. The pair went in stopping short as they noticed Teal'c.
Kawalsky tried to rush Teal'c, but Barbara stepped in front of him. Her presence startled the Colonel but not for long as the officer roared 'Barbara!' with such ferocity that the girl shuddered before being promptly tucked by Teal'c behind himself. O'Neill and Carter, who were standing up from the chairs to stop Kawalsky from attacking Teal'c had to physically hold the officer as he tried to get to Barbara.
"Kawalsky, what is the meaning of this?" roared the General, his hands braced on the table.
"She is a Goa'uld!" cried the colonel, struggling in the hold.
"Me? I would like to think I would know if I was one!"
"She is the right hand of Apophis! She was the one who ordered your death, Jack!" added Samantha from her position. Jack glanced at Barbara.
"Finally got your revenge for the Barbie nickname, ha?" Barbara buried her face in her hands in response, making a groan, roughly translated to 'Why you do this to me?'. Samantha exchanged glances with Colonel Kawalsky.
"Our Barbara is suffering from Jack's unfortunate nickname and had tried to extract revenge with varying success. She did manage to mix salt into his coffee. I think it was the last successful attempt," Daniel stepped to explain the behavior of the two to the pair from the alternate reality visitors.
"It is because you are also trying to catch me on the act," Barbara furiously typed into her translator, making the corresponding face to what the device was saying for her. "If you were just enjoying the moment Jack wouldn't know to look out!"
"Har-har," Jack mimicked with his hand talking, a smile on his face. "You are just not very good at it."
"Oh, that's it!" cried Barbara rushing from behind Teal'c who deftly intercepted the girl. The Jaffa hugged the struggling girl to himself as if she was a kitten.
General Hammond looked at his team as they continued to laugh retelling Barbara's attempts at getting back at his SCO to the alternates.
He'll let them for a bit before they will return to the plan.
'Barbara was a Goa'uld in the alternate reality?'
