The morning after Chaos' attack, Keith went down for breakfast with a smile on his face. Sitting at the table was both Sonic and Big, the latter so large he didn't require a chair. Keith grinned at the sight of the occupied table, taking his seat next to Sonic

"You're in a good mood today," Sonic noted. "Especially considering what happened last night."

"Sorry it's just…" Keith replied. It's been a little lonely since everyone left. It's nice to have you back."

"Good to be back. I only wish it was under better circumstances."

"Hey, it wouldn't be us if there wasn't something going on."

Breakfast was served, eggs and bacon, with Big getting an extra large helping, he ate with gusto, smiling brightly.

"Thank you. This is really, really yummy!"

"I'm glad you enjoyed it, Mr. Big," Ella replied. "I am sorry to hear about your little frog friend."

"Oh, it's okay. That pretty girl with the fancy chair and the bunny promised to help me look today. We'll find him for sure."

Ella put a hand to her chest, touched by his optimism.

"How nice."

"In the meantime, we need to start looking for the other Chaos Emeralds," Sonic insisted. "Eggman can't feed them to that Chaos creature if he doesn't have any."

"If that's the case, then we should talk to Tails," Keith told him. "I remember him mentioning something about finding a Chaos Emerald a couple weeks ago."

"Perfect! Let's go!"

At the Station Square Train Station, Knuckles and Kat departed from their train. Kat snagged her satchel out of baggage claim, resting her bat on her shoulder.

"Alright, we're back," she declared. "Where do you want to go first?"

"I'm not sure…" Knuckles admitted. "The pieces of the Master Emerald flew everywhere."

"Can you still sense them? Like you do the Chaos Emeralds?"

"Vaguely… It's like looking through a fog..."

"Alright… then close your eyes. Just try and focus on one piece. See if you can spot the one closest to us."

Knuckles did so, trying to zero in on any Emerald pieces in the area. As he continued sensing around, his eyes snapped open.

"I got something! This way!"

Knuckles sped off, with Kat following close behind.

Meanwhile, Sonic and Keith were heading down the street, the latter excitedly telling his friend about everything that had happened since Chaos Control.

"Sounds like everyone's been keeping busy," Sonic noted.

"Yeah. I'll be honest, the house has been feeling really empty without everyone there."

"Sorry about that."

"Where did you go anyway?"

"Went to explore the Mystic Ruins. See if… anyone else from Mobius came here."

Keith took note of Sonic's pause, but before he could question him on it, the sound of a plane engine reached their ears. The two looked up to see a high tech plane flying overhead with smoke billowing out of it. As Sonic squinted, he could make out who was in the cockpit.

"Wha… Tails?!"

"Look out!" Tails screamed. "I'm out of control! Mayday! Mayday!"

The plane went spiraling downward, then a loud crash was heard.

"Tails!" Sonic shouted.

"He touched down along the beachfront!" Keith declared.

"Come on!"

The two then took off towards the beach.

Tails pulled himself from the wreckage of the plane, groaning slightly as he rubbed his head. He glanced at the wreck, chuckling nervously.

"Well, that could have gone better."

A chunk of the siding fell off the side, landing hard enough to startle the fox.

"Tails!"

Tails turned to see Sonic and Keith running towards them.

"Sonic! Hey!"

"You ok, pal?" Sonic asked, skidding to a stop in front of him.

"I'll be alright," Tails reassured. "Good to see you too, Keith."

"Likewise," Keith replied. "What happened though? Looked like something was wrong with the plane."

"Just testing a new prototype engine," Tails explained. "It's designed to draw energy from a Chaos Emerald and store it for extended use. In case it ever gets removed like last time."

Sonic glanced over at the wreck, chuckling slightly.

"Seems it's still a work in progress."

"Yeah…" Tails replied nervously. "I still have a few bugs to work out."

"Speaking of Chaos Emeralds," Keith remembered. "Do you still have the one you found?"

Tails nodded, heading over to the wreck. He pulled a side panel open, revealing the blue Chaos Emerald. He pulled it out, smiling.

"Right here."

"Well, that's one in our favor," Sonic declared.

"Something happen?" Tails asked.

"It's a long story," Sonic replied.

Somewhere in the city, on one of the raised streets dubbed Speed Highway, a construction crew was gathered around some strange protrusions in the street. Sam Kent was with them, as well as a motorist with a blown tire.

"I don't know what these things are, but they're a serious road hazard," Sam told the crew. "We're lucky this guy wasn't part of the morning rush."

"I don't even know how these things ended up here," one of the workers insisted, scratching his head at the dirt covered spikes.

"I don't care how they got there, I care about getting them out."

"Maybe I can help with that."

Sam turned to see Knuckles and Kat walking up to him.

"Hey, Knuckles, Kat, it's been awhile. What are you two doing here? Don't you know walking along the highway is dangerous?"

"So is fighting mad scientists over the fate of the world," Kat remarked.

Knuckles bend down, brushing the dirt off of the strange spikes. His eyes widened when he saw the familiar green glow of the Master Emerald.

"It's them… Master Emerald Shards."

Kat reached into her bag, tossing him the Shovel Claws.

"What are you waiting for?" she questioned. "Get them out!"

"No need for that."

Knuckles closed his eyes again, focusing on the shards. One by one, they floated out of the ground and into his hands. Sam, the construction workers, the motorist, and Kat just stared.

"Okay, you are so showing me that trick," Kat declared.

"Sorry, that's just something only I can do."

Knuckles deposited the shards into Kat's satchel, picking the Shovel Claws back up and stuffing them into his fur.

"Alright Knuckles, where's the next one?"

"And now we need to find the Chaos Emeralds before Eggman does," Sonic finished.

"Wow, seems you two have been busy," Tails remarked.

"No more so than usual," Keith remarked.

"So Tails, you up for helping us out?" Sonic asked.

Tails grinned.

"Like you even have to ask. We can use this Emerald to find the others."

"We'll start with a sweep of the city," Sonic reasoned. "Then we'll move to the Mystic Ruins."

"Then let's get going!" Keith declared. "We've got a lot of ground to cover."

The three then took off into the city, hoping to find the Chaos Emeralds in time.

Meanwhile, Big had arrived at the Birnbaum house, bending down so he could easily knock on the door. He then stepped back as Mr. Birnbaum answered, gasping at the large cat.

"Hello," Big greeted. "I'm here looking for the pretty girl and the bunny. They're gonna help me find Froggy today."

"I… see."

"Big!" Helen called out, rolling up to the door. "Dad, this is Big. Remember, I told you about him yesterday."

"Well, he certainly lives up to his name."

Helen rolled outside, Cream running out to join them. Big looked down at the chair, then at Helen. He then carefully picked her up, placing her on his shoulder. Helen laughed, carefully taking hold of Big's head.

"What's with the shoulder ride?" she asked.

"That chair seems really important, and really delicate," Big explained "I don't want to break it by accident."

"Don't worry," Mr. Birnbaum told him. "It folds pretty easily. Here, I'll show you."

He folded up the chair, flattening it so everything was an easy to carry package. Big took the chair, hooking it onto the belt he wore across his back.

"Thank you, sir," Big told him before offering a hand to Cream. "Come on. Froggy's waiting for us."

"Ok!" Cream replied, with Cheese chirping happily.

She took his hand and the small group headed off.

Knuckles and Kat were following Knuckles' latest blip on his Master Emerald Radar. At the moment, it was leading them to Casinopolis, Station Square's gaming center and gambling hub. They walked down the street, stopping short when they saw a massive crowd surrounding a building. There were large char marks along the walls, and a huge hole in the building's neon sign.

"Bet you a grape popsicle that's our shard," Kat declared.

"Let's find out," Knuckles replied.

The two of them maneuvered their way through the crowd, finally making it to the front. There, they could see several officers cordoning off the area and ushering people back. When they saw the red echidna, they quickly went over to him.

"Knuckles, glad you're here. This seems like a Mobius problem."

"What happened, officer?" Knuckles asked.

"Not entirely sure. Witnesses say some kind of glowing object fell from the sky and crashed into the building."

"It didn't happen to be green by any chance, would it?" Kat asked.

"We haven't had a chance to look," the officer replied. "Why don't you two come with us to take a look."

The two nodded as they headed inside.

The building was completely empty, all the people having vacated when the incident occured. As they approached the crash site, they were greeted by a large Emerald shard embedded into the ground.

"Another Emerald piece..." Knuckles let out. "We're getting closer."

"Let me try it this time," Kat insisted.

"Kat, it won't work for-"

"How do you know? Has anyone ever tried?"

"No… I guess there's never been a reason to before."

"Then let me try. Please?"

Knuckles sighed, chuckling a bit.

"Alright, alright. But, don't be upset when it doesn't work."

She knelt down next to the shard, Knuckles standing behind her. Unbeknownst to either of them, a strange red light came flitting through the hole in the roof, hovering just above them.

"Now, hold your hands out and close your eyes," Knuckles instructed. "Try and feel the energy of the Emerald."

Kat closed her eyes, doing as she was instructed.

"Can you feel it?" Knuckles asked.

"No… I-" the red light then flew towards her, landing on her head. "Wait… I feel something."

The Emerald shard began to glow, rising out of the ground. Knuckles went wide-eyed, the cops all gasping as well as the shard settled gently into Kat's outstretched hands. She opened her eyes, letting out a surprised laugh before turning to Knuckles.

"I did it!" she cheered. "Knuckles, I-"

The shard suddenly began to glow brightly in her hand. Knuckles saw this and reached for it. The second his hand touched it, both of them were swallowed by green light.

"What the-?" He let out.

"It's happening again," Kat realized. "Like that time in Orient City."

….

As the light faded, the two found themselves not in Casinopolis, not even in Station Square, but standing in front of a massive temple. It was late at night, the stars high in the sky. Kat looked up, cocking her head in confusion.

"Those aren't our stars… I don't think we're on Earth anymore."

"It looks like we're in the Mystic Ruins," Knuckles reasoned. "But the buildings should be ancient. They look brand new."

"Then… we're seeing the past again," Kat realized. "But why the Ruins?"

"Father!" a familiar voice cried out.

"That voice…" Knuckles let out. "This way!"

The two ran off, holding back as they saw a young female Echidna talking to an older, male Echidna. Both of them were dressed in clothing that was reminiscent of mayan culture, the man armed with a spear.

"Father, please! You can't!" the girl insisted.

"Tikal, you know the Seven Emeralds are essential to our survival!" the male replied. "It is for the good of all our people."

"You're talking about using the ancient relics for selfish gain! It will bring nothing but pain and misery to everyone!"

"Tikal, enough! As your father-"

"As my father, you must heed me! Please… Don't do this!"

Just then, another flash of light fell upon the two visitors, blinding them once more.

The cops were shaking the two, snapping fingers in front of their faces. They both shook their heads, finally snapping out of their daze. The red light took that moment to fly off of Kat's head, disappearing back through the hole unseen.

"You two alright?" One of the cops asked. "You've been staring at that thing for a few minutes now."

"Yeah… sorry," Kat replied.

"You wouldn't mind if we held onto this, would you?" Knuckles asked.

"No, not at all. After that little show, it's clear it's yours."

Kat tucked the shard into her bag with the rest.

"Let us know if you find any more," Knuckles requested.

The two exited Casinopolis, still reeling from what they saw.

"Knuckles… that girl. Her voice was the one we heard back in Orient City, wasn't it?"

"I think so… what does it all mean?"

"Well look who's back in town?" a familiar voice remarked.

The pair turned, seeing Sonic, Tails, and Keith approaching.

"Sonic!" Kat called out, grinning.

"Look who finally decided to show himself," Knuckles snorted with a small smirk. "And here I thought you'd actually been dragged back to Mobius."

"Had some personal business to take care of," Sonic replied. "Speaking of, don't you have a rock to protect?"

"Yes… and no," Knuckles said bitterly.

Kat opened up her satchel, revealing the Emerald shards. The group looked absolutely stunned.

"Knuckles, what happened?" Keith questioned before turning to Kat. "Is this why you missed school yesterday?"

"Pretty much, yeah," Kat confirmed, closing her satchel.

"This watery creature came out of nowhere, destroying the Master Emerald," Knuckles explained. "Right now, we're just trying to find all the pieces."

"Watery creature?" Sonic recognized. "You mean that monster me and Keith fought the other day?"

"You saw it?!" The pair exclaimed.

"Eggman calls it Chaos," Sonic continued. "And it gets stronger with every Chaos Emerald Eggman feeds it."

"So we need to find the Chaos Emeralds before Eggman does," Tails added.

"Wish we could help, but we have our hands full," Knuckles told them. "I can't rest until I've gathered every last Emerald shard."

"We understand," Keith replied. "By the way, you didn't happen to see a Chaos Emerald in there while you were looking, did you?"

"No, we didn't," Kat replied. "But, maybe we can talk the cops into letting you in."

Before anyone could do anything, the familiar sound of Robotnik's laugh made them all jump.

"Well well, if it isn't all my favorite people in the same place," Robotnik jeered as he lowered himself towards them.

"Eggman!" they all let out.

"You're the one that sicced that Chaos creature on the Master Emerald!" Knuckles shouted. "You're gonna pay for that!"

"Hardly," Robotnik replied, pulling out a silver Chaos Emerald. "In fact, my little venture is paying off quite well."

"The Chaos Emerald!" Tails let out.

"He must've snagged it while we were talking," Keith reasoned.

"Such a clever boy." He then let out a shrill whistle. "Oh Chaos! It's feeding time!"

Suddenly, a familiar puddle appeared, solidifying into Chaos.

"Him again," Kat dreaded.

"Heh, he just saved us the trouble of looking for him," Knuckles remarked, readying his fists. "Now it's time for some payback!"

"First, Chaos needs a little pick-me-up," Robotnik insisted, tossing the silver Chaos Emerald into Chaos' body.

The watery creature began to glow, its body growing once again as he sprouted another metal skeleton for his other arm.

"I don't care how big he gets," Knuckles boasted. "You're not stopping me!"

"Me neither!" Sonic declared.

Chaos then raised a massive fist, bringing it down on the group. They all scattered as Sonic landed on a nearby pay phone. He leapt towards, curling into a spin dash to try and attack the creature. Unfortunately, it was able to produce an electrical field that Sonic was unable to penetrate. Sonic bounced off it as Knuckles tried his hand, only to meet the same result.

"I'm starting to think Chaos adapted to me hitting him with those electrical wires," Keith lamented.

"Then we gotta think of something else," Sonic reasoned.

"We just need a way to get through that energy field," Tails reasoned.

"Maybe if you attack it at the same time," Kat suggested. "Divide its focus."

"Sounds like a plan!" Knuckles agreed.

At that time, Chaos shot out a stream of water towards them, prompting them to move as it tore up the sidewalk. Knuckles ran right at the creature, punching at it with all his might. As he did that, Sonic started circling around Chaos, building enough energy so that he could spin dash right at Chaos' back at super speed. The combined amount of energy on the creature became too much, causing it to burst and fall into a puddle.

"Well, that wasn't so hard," Sonic remarked.

"It's not over yet, hedgehog!" Robotnik declared, scooping up Chaos. "Once I get the remaining Emeralds, nothing will be able to stop Chaos! Not even you!"

With that, Robotnik flew off, leaving the heroes alone on the sidewalk. Keith went over to Sonic and Kat went to help Knuckles.

"You guys alright?" Keith asked.

"We'll be fine," Knuckles reassured.

"Just miffed that creature got another Emerald," Sonic shared.

"So far it's two to one and Eggman's winning," Tails recognized. "We'd better get a move on!"

"Good luck you guys," Kat told them.

"Same to you," Keith replied.

The group then split off to continue their respective missions.

A few hours later, Sonic, Tails, and Keith caught the next train to the Mystic Ruins. From there, they made a beeline for Tails' workshop, hoping to use the Tornado II to search. Once there, Tails installed the Chaos Emerald into the Tornado II so they could use it to search.

"Alright, let's get to searching," Keith declared.

"Hold on," Tails insisted. "Let me get a few things first."

"Like what?"

Tails rummaged around in one of his desks, searching for something. He then grinned, pulling out a pair of blue gloves covered in tech patterns.

"Here, put these on Keith."

He tossed the gloves to Keith, who quickly caught them.

"What are these?" he asked.

"Specialized gloves that work in sync with your goggles. They'll allow you access a holographic keyboard I installed, allowing you to access the internet, and run searches remotely."

Keith tries it out, sliding his goggles on and finding the interface to be much smoother.

"Ok, this is beyond awesome."

"I thought you'd like it," Tails replied. "Now, you see the red dials on the wrists?"

Keith flipped his hands, seeing the dials.

"Give them a twist."

He did, the gloves turning a red color. He saw power dancing along his finger tips, which made his eyes go wide.

"These gloves can short out small electronics, act as tasers, and you can even throw small balls of energy."

"Ok that is beyond awesome!"

"About time you got a quirk of your own," Sonic remarked. "Now you don't need to rely on downed power lines to lend a hand."

Keith turned off the gloves, grinning from ear to ear.

"Let's go!" he insisted.

With that, the three of them saddled into the Tornado II and took off, in search of more Chaos Emeralds.

Meanwhile at the beach, Big and the girls arrived at the shores of the Great Sea. There, Big carefully set down Helen, pulling her chair off his back and unfolding it, depositing the girl in it. He then grabbed a tackle box, as well as a fishing pole from off the belt as well.

"Mr. Big, I thought we were going to look for Froggy," Cream pointed out.

"We are," Big explained. "Froggy loves playing the fishing game. We always find nice big bodies of water, and I try to fish him out. I figure that if he sees we're playing the fishing game, he'll come out and play with us."

"That sounds like a great idea," Cream replied, Cheese chirping in agreement.

Big sat down, opening the tackle box and grabbing his favorite lure. He then cast the line out into the sea, then settled in.

"Now, we wait," Big told them.

Elsewhere, the Tornado II entered the Windy Valley in search of the Chaos Emerald. As they flew overhead, the Emerald began to glow brightly and the Tornado II began to shake.

"I think we're getting close to one," Tails recognized.

"Take her down, pal," Sonic instructed.

They landed the Tornado II, the three of them hopping out. Keith looked around, marveling at the strangely carved stones that dotted the otherwise untouched valley.

"Wow," Keith let out before a gust of wind came in.

Tails nearly flew off, but Sonic quickly caught him. The wind then settled down and they all regained their footing.

"What was that?" Keith questioned.

"The reason this place is called Windy Valley," Sonic answered. "You need to be careful, or you'll end up going flying."

"Good to know," Keith replied.

They continued walking through the valley, keeping a close eye on the Emerald and watching its glow. Soon, they reached a small patch of dirt amidst the greenery where the Emerald was glowing at its brightest.

"I think this is the place," Tails declared.

"Wish Knuckles and his Shovel Claws were here," Keith muttered.

"Relax," Sonic said, grinning as he took a few steps back. "I got this."

Sonic then leapt into the air, rolled into a spin dash, and began burrowing through the ground. After a minute or two, he came flying back out of the hole, touching back down on the ground while holding out the green Chaos Emerald.

"Piece of cake!" Sonic declared.

"Now if only the other ones were this easy to track down," Keith quipped.

Just then, another massive gust of wind ripped through the valley, knocking the trio off their feet. Even worse, the Egg Mobile's silhouette appeared above then, the mad doctor grinning down at them from his floating vehicle, now decked out with thrusters and more armoured plating.

"Hope I didn't catch you at a bad time," Robotnik jeered.

"With you, always!" Sonic retorted.

"Well too bad!" Robotnik hit a button on the Eggmobile's console, sending a mechanical arm to scoop up the blue and green Chaos emeralds.

"Oh no!" Tails cried out. "Give those back!"

Robotnik just cackled, taking the Emeralds for himself.

"Like taking candy from a baby!"

"It's not gonna be that easy, Eggman!"

Sonic leapt up to the Eggmobile and grabbed hold of the windshield. Enraged, Robotnik activated massive drills on the front, ramming the Eggmobile into the ground to throw him off. Robotnik then pulled back as he prepared to skewer Sonic, only for a ball of red energy to suddenly collide with the side of the machine.

"What the-?"

He turned, seeing Keith standing there, goggles on and gloves glowing red.

"Don't even think about it, Eggman!"

"Oh my, someone's got himself a new toy. How quaint."

"It's cool," Sonic commended, "but I prefer the classics!"

Sonic then rolled into a spin dash and blew right into the Eggmobile, destroying its armor and causing the Chaos Emeralds to fall into a nearby lake.

"Alright!" Tails cheered.

"I'll get the Emeralds!" Keith offered, powering down his gloves and heading for the lake.

Just as he prepared to dive in, the water began to ripple and bubble.

"I don't like the look of that…" Sonic let out.

The water began glowing brightly, a large form rising from it. This form was revealed to be Chaos, now looking more fish-like with a shark-like body, a dorsal fin on both its back and a horn on its forehead. It also has two sharp pelvis fins and its hands look more like fins, now lacking thumbs. More metal bones had appeared as well, running from its tail fin to its belly, the latest of the chaos emeralds resting snugly in its pelvis.

"It's Chaos!" Tails let out. "He's transformed again!"

"Man," Sonic fumed. "No one ever cuts us any slack."

Chaos then swiped its hand, sending out an energy wave that knocked the three of them back. They handed hard, all of them looking nervous.

"How are we supposed to beat this thing?" Keith questioned.

"I'll handle this," Sonic told him. "You and Tails stay here."

"But you hate water," Keith reminded.

"Don't remind me," Sonic replied, leaping into action.

As soon as Sonic took off towards Chaos, the creature dove under the water, prompting the hedgehog to land on one of the lily pads placed in the lake. As he looked around for the beast, the water below him began glowing, second before he was thrown off of the lily pad. He went flying through the air, seeing a small typhoon of water spiralling before him. He landed on a new lily pad, then jumped from pad to pad. Eventually, the typhoon slowed and Sonic was able to strike Chaos on the head, sending him falling into the water.

"Yeah!" Tails and Keith both cheered.

The victory didn't last long though as Chaos soon resurfaced, staring Sonic down. It send another energy wave towards him, forcing him to jump over the attack. While in the air, he curled into a homing attack, plowing right through Chaos once again. He managed to land on one of the pads, but Chaos quickly reformed, diving for Sonic and dragging him under the water.

"No!" Keith shouted.

"Good boy, Chaos!" Robotnik jeered. "Now keep dunking Sonic until he's all washed up!"

Chaos dove in and out of the water, Sonic clinging to his back and getting dunked every time. Finally, Windy Valley's titular wind picked up, giving Sonic an out. He quickly let go and rode the wind curling up for one last attack.

"Chaos, look out!" Robotnik warned.

The warning came too late as Sonic plowed through the beast, scattering him once more. He landed next to his friends, grinning.

"I think that outta do it," he declared.

Just then, a massive rumbling filled the air. The three heroes looked up to see Robotnik's massive airship sail across the skies.

"Behold, my floating masterpiece, the Egg Carrier!" Robotnik introduced. "With it, and Chaos, this world doesn't stand a chance!"

Robotnik then collected Chaos and flew towards the Egg Carrier.

"Until we meet again, Sonic!" He bellowed, cackling as he disappeared onto his ship.

"We can't let him get away!" Tails let out.

"And we won't," Sonic reassured. "Come on, let's move!"

...

In Station Square, Amy was walking down the street, preparing to make a grocery run. As she did, a large ominous shadow overtook the street.

"Huh?" She let out. "Why'd the sky get so dark all of a sudden? There wasn't anything in the forecast about a storm."

She looked up and saw the Egg Carrier flying overhead, the Tornado II coming in right behind it.

"The Tornado II?" she questioned. "What's Tails doing?"

Up in the air, the Tornado II swooped down towards the Egg Carrier, unleashing a barrage of laser fire. The blasts didn't seem to do much as the Egg Carrier returned fire. The Tornado II evaded the blaster fire, Tails firing the thrusters to get in closer.

"Hold on tight!" Tails told them.

Tails then fired several missiles, destroying a few turrets along the side. One of the missiles managed to nail the side of the Egg Carrier itself, which ended up creating a hole in the side. Unbeknownst to either of the combatants, a single containment sphere rolled out of the hole, falling down towards the city. Luckily, Amy saw it, recognizing it for what it was.

"A containment sphere!"

She rushed underneath it, holding out her hands. The sphere fell into her waiting arms, the small flickie inside chirping miserably. Surprisingly, it had a necklace around its neck with a large cyan gem embedded in it. Amy immediately unscrewed the lid of the capsule, opening it and gently scooping up the flickie.

"Oh you poor little thing. Eggman must be up to his old tricks again, using mobini to power his machines." She began looking the bird over. "You're not hurt, are you?"

The flickie just chirped, curling up in Amy's hands. She gently stroked its feathers, then continued on her way.

"Don't worry, I'll take care of you.

Back up in the air, the Tornado II continued weaving through the turret shots and dishing out laser fire of its own, even managing to pull out in front of it.

"Alright!" Keith cheered. "We're doing it!"

"Now let's finish this!" Tails declared.

"Prepare the E-Force Cannon!" Robotnik ordered. "I want them blasted out of the sky!"

"Right away, boss," Orbot responded.

"Let's blow them away."

Outside, the front of the Egg Carrier split in two and opened up, revealing a massive energy cannon inside. Once it fully charged up, it fired a massive energy blast right at the plane, tearing off it's wing.

"We're hit!" Tails let out as the Tornado II started to plumitt. "We're going down!"

Sonic, who was riding on the top of the plane as usual, ended up going flying off the plane.

"Sonic!" Keith cried out.

As Sonic fell, he watched the plane crashing towards the Mystic Ruins, unable to do anything to help them.
