AN: Okay, so I am blaming elizabethB88 for this one because of writing drunk Nathan in Strength. I got to thinking what if a drunk Nathan came upon one of Pucabeth's "dates". I chose the scene from the finale. Honestly, I could not tell what building they were suppose to be in as I was still in shock from the mauling scene on the bridge and trying to to throw up. I also thought that Elizabeth was doing a PG strip tease with how she was acting but I figured even drunk Nathan would not actually go that far but I do make a hint in that direction. Prior to season 8, I would find this drabble completely unbelievable, but season 8 had so many 'unbelievable' moments and character portrayals that hey, why not? This might just have happened. After season 8, I would not be surprised by Jack coming back from the dead, honestly. So, that being said, I hope you find this amusing.

Drinking was never a good idea. Nathan knew that before he had taken his first sip of whiskey. He had found that out during training, hanging with his fellow recruits on their free time. After just one drink, his tongue was looser than it probably should have been. After two, he had been stating his true feelings about some of the things their one instructor had put them through. Feelings that the instructor had overheard.

That had not ended well.

As he walked into the Queen of Hearts, having spotted Lucas and Elizabeth inside alone, he knew that tonight would not end well either.

Normally, he would have just walked on by, keeping his feelings to himself. Just like he had that in the day in the Mountie Office when Elizabeth had lied to him. One drink had led him to telling Lucas that lie about Elizabeth's heart always being with him. Tonight he was a few more past one.

"It is a good thing you are trying to be a writer because you have no talent for acting," Nathan commented after listening to Elizabeth trying to be seductive in her words to Lucas. They were as fake as all Lucas' charming spiel's. "Just like that day in my office."

Both Elizabeth and Lucas looked at him in surprise.

"We're closed," Lucas said calmly. "This is a private event."

"You forgot to lock the door," Nathan replied. "But yes, it should be private. Elizabeth would not want the parents of her students seeing how ridiculous she looks trying to be someone she is not."

Elizabeth gasped at his words. Nathan figured she probably could not believe that he was the one saying them.

Lucas walked toward him, reaching out for his arm.

"Go ahead and try to throw me out, Bouchard. I would love to throw you in jail for assaulting an officer even if you didn't stay there long."

Lucas backed off, clearly decided not to test him.

"Nathan, why don't we go for a walk," Bill suggested having come in behind Nathan.

"One moment, Bill," Nathan replied, knowing it would probably be better if his friend just pulled him out of the room now. Instead he turned to Elizabeth. "Did you convince yourself of that lie you told me about looking for Jack in me? Because you did not convince me. It is not Jack you see in me but the uniform, Elizabeth, and that scares you because the truth is, you do have feelings for me. However, like that day at the pond, you ran from that truth because you are a coward. You ran to something shallow and superficial to avoid committing your heart to a relationship. If you are going to live your life being fake, then you and Lucas deserve each other."

Elizabeth looked stricken. Nathan knew his words had hurt her. He knew he probably should have kept them to himself but the whiskey had loosened his tongue. It had given him the courage to say what he normally would not have.

Bill took hold of his arm then. "Let's go," Bill instructed firmly but softly.

Nathan let himself be led to the door then. However, a smile came to his lips as Bill got the final say.

"That dress is not doing you any favors, Elizabeth." Bill told her as he led Nathan from the Queen of Hearts.
