A.N: I hope the fight between Ataru & Rei was good. I'm hoping to get better at writing fight scenes for my other stories.
Ch.5: Turtle
Blushing, Lum peeked through the door as she looked left and right. When she was certain that no one was awake, she flew quietly downstairs until she reached the laundry basket and quickly buried the evidence.
Shutting the basket, Lum bit her lip as she rubbed her knees.
"I might have claimed you right then and there." His voice echoed through her head as she gulped.
Those words made her dreams rather heated.
"Dumb Darling." She whispered, still feeling bothered. "He's lucky I didn't jump him. Then again…."
"If it distracted you from Rei, then I'd gladly do it again."
Yelping, Lum twirled to see Ataru standing right behind her.
"You're not as subtle as you think," Ataru smirked, not realizing.
Trying to hide it, She pouted. "Quiet you. Or I'll stand by my word."
"I don't think that's a threat," He said before shrugging. "But I'll stop."
"Good."
"Still though, are you alright? With Rei, I mean?" He asked, concerned.
Sighing, Lum smiled.
"I'll be fine. As long as he doesn't get in the way of us, then I don't…Ok, I do mind, but it ain't anything to worry about."
Grabbing his hand, Lum said, "Because my husband can more than handle his furry butt."
Scoffing, Ataru smiled back and placed his arm around her waist.
"You love to brag, don't you?"
Grinning with sharp fangs, Lum said, "And you're not as shy as you were before, aren't you?"
*Slap*
She went still as her butt started to sting.
"What can I say? I'm starting to act like a hu-boyfriend. Who knows…" He smirked before turning to leave. "I might keep that promise."
"Might?"
Her heart was going twenty miles an hour and her burning engine was going into overdrive.
Ataru didn't know it yet, but he just made a big mistake.
"Darling?" Lum said calmly, stopping him. "Did you know that some Onis can be… emotionally unstable? We're overly emotional beings at times. It gets worse when we find a mate, or spouse in modern terms. It's like we focus only on that person."
"That would explain why Rei was trying to take you back." He realized, unaware of his crimes.
Tensing her hands, Lum nodded slowly.
"It's not uncommon for us to fall out of love or find someone else. Even then, when an Oni finds a mate, it becomes even harder to contain ourselves."
As he looked back at her, she took a deep breath, "With what I've just said, do you realize what you've just done?"
Ataru shrugged, only to stumble when Lum jumped at him.
While he fell on his butt, Lum had wrapped her legs around his waist and her arms gripped his shoulders.
"Then let me make it clear," She whispered lasciviously. "I just woke from a wet dream because my Darling said he'd fuck me just to remind everyone of who I belong to."
In her eyes, an animalistic desire drew all his focus on her, like a predator cornering its helpless prey.
"And that was after he willfully fought against my foolish ex-fiance to protect me, while under the impression that Rei had abused me, which only makes it more romantic. Then he willingly admits that he's glad we are together," Lum said as she pressed her chest against him. "Let's not forget who was willing to get along with my precious little Ten, despite the unpleasant introduction."
Then, through clouded eyes, she glared at her Darling.
"Ten's arrival was already an emotional roller coaster, and Today wasn't any better either. And it's all your fault. You know why?"
Bringing her lips to his ears, Lum growled.
"I'm Horny."
Ataru gasped as Lum gently nipped his ear before pulling away.
To make things worse, she could feel his arousal poking against her.
"Why do you think I came down here?! I was about to relieve myself after disregarding my panties, but you showed up." She scowled, much to his shock as he realized what she was lacking. "I know I have to be patient, but everything you've done: Helping Ten, Protecting me from Rei, among other things. I was ready to say Fuck Patience and have my way with you at this very moment. However, I've restrained myself because I didn't want to force you. I want it to be special. Then you come here and joke about making love." Lum hissed, struggling to restrain herself. "And now, You Have The Balls To Slap My Ass. After everything I said about being willing to wait, you decide to do that, you bastard. You Caused This!"
Despite this, Lum tried to pull herself together.
"I need to…stop….before I….lose….control." She panted heavily.
When Darling inched closer to her face, his scent drove her wild.
"I caused this," Ataru looked her straight in the eyes. "So I might as well take responsibility."
Lum gaped slightly as if she had misheard.
Pressing his lips to hers, Ataru sealed his fate as her urges possessed her.
Growling into his mouth, she deepened the kiss until her tongue was brushing his teeth. Giving in to the pleasure, he yielded to her demands as their tongues brushed against each other.
Feeling weightless, Ataru pulled away briefly only for Lum to grab the back of his head and smash her lips against his as she used her flight to guide them back to their room.
From there, they found themselves lost in a sea of pleasure, with only their bodies to guide them.
Until they left the waking world with a pleasant pain and a burning passion filling Lum's insides.
When he opened his eyes, the light of dawn peeked through the night. Looking to his side, Lum was resting on his chest with a smile on her face.
As she shuffled slightly, he felt soft skin rub against him and slowly placed his hand against her, caressing her back. She groaned tiredly and shifted her legs until his knee was touching-!
"Oh." Ataru thought, greatly stunned.
Remembering their midnight encounter, he suddenly felt lightheaded, but at the same time, he was strangely comfortable about reaching that stage with her.
And let's not forget proud because that smile on her face wasn't from a good dream.
Hey, he's a 17-year-old boy who just lost his virginity, let him have this.
"Guess I'm stuck with her now. Not that it was a problem anyway," Ataru muttered, slowly drifting back to sleep. "For now…"
*Crash, Bang*
"...what now?" Ataru moaned quietly with his arm over his eyes.
"Ryunosuke! You Better Be Giving Your Old Man A Hand!?"
The wind fluttered through black hair as the light of dawn revealed a white short-sleeve shirt and baggy jeans as the dark blue eyes of their owner glanced at their father.
This was Ryunosuke Fujinami, the young-
"MAN!" Someone shouted.
What? No, a young-
"MAN!"
…
"…"
A-
"MAN-ACK!"
Suddenly, the interrupter fell to the ground with a foot on their head.
Dusting their hands, Ryunosuke said, "Go ahead. He won't bother you for now."
This was Ryunosuke Fujinami, the young woman who had just arrived in Tomobiki.
She nodded firmly before her captive grabbed her foot, removing her from his head, before sending her foot forward. Thrown off-balance, Ryunosuke managed to stay one foot, only for her former captive to roll around and send her crashing to the ground.
A middle-aged man, with light tan skin and wild brown hair, grinned as his son growled at him. His beige shirt had I LOVE THE SEA written in kanji. He also wore a pair of brown pants with wooden sandals. His name was Dansui Fujinami, Ryunosuke's father.
"That's what you get for attacking your father!" Dansui said, sneering. "Especially when someone was spreading lies about you!"
Suddenly his son slammed his foot into his stomach, making him choke before Ryunosuke landed a roundhouse kick on his father's face.
"THE ONLY ONE SPREADING LIES AROUND HERE IS YOU!" She shouted. "I'M NOT A MAN! I'M A WOMAN!"
Her father responded by throwing a haymaker to her right cheek, which she blocks with her right arm.
"I WON'T STAND FOR SUCH NONSENSE, MY BOY!" Dansui bellowed as he continued to attack his son, who was blocking like a champ.
Slapping aside his latest right hook, she managed to send a left vertical jab to his right abdomen. However, this left her open to a kick to her stomach. Stepping back a bit, they glared at each other before preparing themselves. With a loud cry, they charged at each other, fists pulled back.
"RYUNOSUKE!" "OLD MAN!"
However, before they could close the distance, they were suddenly floating in the air.
"What's going on?!" Dansui thought, trying to move.
Unlike her father, Ryunosuke knew what was happening to them.
And she was slowly turning red as she tried to hide her excitement.
"Seriously?" Someone yawned before continuing. "I just had one hell of a day yesterday and a street brawl is the first thing I wake up to."
From behind Ryunosuke, a bulky rock monster walked between them and on its forehead held a familiar symbol.
"Before you ask, I'm-"
"You're Gravattack!" Ryunosuke blurted before covering her mouth.
Blinking, he said, "Actually, I am. Wow, it's rare for someone to know their names."
"Who?" Dansui asked, raising his brow.
"Dumb Geezer!" She scowled before pointing to Gravattack. "He's Gravattack! He's a part of Omni!"
Narrowing his eyes, Dansui scowled."Omni."
Gravattack coughed slightly.
"Now then, Why are you fighting at the crack of dawn?" He asked.
Struggling to break free, Dansui said. "Don't Interfere! This is a battle between men. My son refused to help his beloved father-"
Scowling, Ryunosuke argued. "Beloved my ass! You were practically asking for it, you shitting-"
"Boys," Gravattack rebuked, adding pressure, crushing them slightly. "I'm tired and you wouldn't want to make me tired and angry. So, how about we talk about this like gentlemen?"
"I AM A WOMAN!" Ryunosuke snarled, much to his surprise.
"RYUNOSUKE!" Dansui roared, appalled by his lies.
Blinking, Gravattack stared at Ryunosuke as her rage became an embarrassment.
"You are a girl," The living planet realized, much to her joy and Dansui's outrage, before asking. "Then, why does your father call out his son?"
"Because he is my son!" Dansui shouted. "Ryunosuke shall become the fourth master of Hamajaya! Only a strong man is worthy of such titles."
Looking away from him, Gravattack stared at his daughter, who looked frustrated.
"He thinks that women are weaker than men. Ever since I was a little, this prick has been trying to turn me into his perfect son," she revealed before jeering. "AND THAT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!"
"RYUNOSUKE! YOU ARE ONLY DELAYING THE INEVITABLE! BE A MAN AND ACCEPT YOUR DESTINY!"
"I'M NOT TAKING OVER HAMAJAYA!" She roared. "IT'S MY LIFE AND I'LL DECIDE HOW I LIVE IT! AND I'M A WOMAN!"
"RYU-"
"ENOUGH!" Gravattack exploded, bringing his hands together as the Fujinami slammed into each other. "It's too early for all this freaking shouting!"
Separating the family before they could fight, Gravattack glared at them, making Ryunosuke cringe while her father returned his glare with a scowl.
"Look," He huffed in exasperation. "Why don't we start at the beginning? Why were you two fighting?"
"IT-" Dansui started, only to fall flat on his face.
Staring at her father, Ryunosuke quickly explained, "We've just moved to Tomobiki and were looking for our new house. We were fighting because I wasn't pulling the cart with him."
With his face pressed into the ground, Dansui held up a finger.
"We were fighting because the-"
Suddenly, Dansui was lifted from the ground before crashing back down.
Looking past him, Gravattack found a large cart carrying their luggage. Nodding, he lowered Ryunosuke safely to the ground before releasing his hold over the Fujinami family.
Rubbing her neck, she confessed, "To be honest, we've been walking since 4 AM. We're lost."
"We aren't lost. We're admiring Tomobiki's natural beauty." Dansui stated firmly.
"We're lost." His Son deadpanned before he asked. "You wouldn't happen to know where Tomobiki High School is?"
"If it means these nice people can sleep peacefully, then I will take you there." Gravattack nodded before pressing his symbol.
As Omni appeared, Ryunosuke gulped and started tapping her foot with reddish cheeks.
"Come on," He waved his hand to her before walking away.
With his back facing her, she rushed toward the cart and grabbed the handle. Pulling the cart, she looked back at her idiot father, who was still laying on the ground.
"Hurry up, Old Man. I don't want to keep him waiting," She said before leaving him behind.
Crawling to his knees, Dansui clenched his fists before glowering at Omni.
"Found you and now, I will make you pay."
"DAD!"
Shaking his head, Dansui quickly raced after his son.
"Once we've settled in, then I'll make you pay."
"Ataru! Time To Wake Up! You Have School Today!"
When Lum woke up, Darling was nowhere to be seen and she felt an aching in her lower half.
Groggily, she sat up from the futon and quickly realized she wasn't wearing her pajamas.
"What the hell?" She mumbled before something slid down her rear.
When she pulled the blanket away, she recalled last night.
"I forced myself on him," she whispered, her breathing becoming shallow. "I was supposed to wait until he was willing, but everything…so many emotions went…..did I?"
So lost in her panic, she did notice her hand land on his pillow until she felt something brush against her finger.
*Crinkle*
Lifting her hand, she found a piece of folded paper on Ataru's pillow.
On the front, it said, For Lum.
Opening the letter, she read.
If you find this, then good morning Lum. Sorry that I'm not here. Someone was causing a ruckus outside and I didn't want them to wake you. If everything is quiet and I'm not back, then something else must be going on and Omni is needed. I just wanted to say that last night was something I didn't expect, but I don't regret it. We should talk about this later. I'll see you later.
(Hastily scribbled on the corner)
I Love You.
From Ataru.
Sighing, the Oni hugged the letter.
"Thank goodness," She smiled gently. "He doesn't hate me."
Reassured, Lum decided to get ready for the day.
Thankfully, the bathroom was available. After a quick shower, she got her new clothes from her closet and grinned.
"I was going to tell him yesterday, but I think it should be a surprise." She giggled before noticing the time. "I better wake up Ten."
Meanwhile, Hazuki sighed while Rikyu chuckled sheepishly at their television.
"Mother, I've awakened Ten and we're coming down for breakfast," Lum said.
"Alright!" Hazuki shouted, staring at the television. "Also Lum, if you're going out, could you be a dear and do me a favor?"
"What is it?" Lum entered the living room and noticed the News. "Oh."
"This is Ishi Shoji, Channel 8 News! Reporting live from our Helicopter! As you can see below, a street shootout between the Tomobiki Police Force and The Ronin Clan is underway. According to our sources, at approximately 7:02 AM, a small group of Ronins had been hiding in the nearby building, waiting for a prison transport containing Bloody Lee, Commander of the Ronins' Kanto Branch. Along with 20 other criminals, Mr. Fi-Yen had been arrested by the elusive Eraser Head & Midnight following a failed weapons deal. After being judged guilty in his trial, Lee Fi-Yen was to be transported to Tartarus. However, an anonymous source had tipped the Police on their plans, and now the Ronin are raising Hell against anyone in their sights. Fortunately, Quirks have yet to be used, but it's only a matter of time. We can only hope this violence ends quickly before things escalate any further."
"When you see Ataru, could you bring his uniform to him?" Hazuki sighed while rubbing her face. "Then again, it'll be a miracle if he doesn't miss school."
Tomiko ducked behind the armored vehicle as bullets pelted her position.
"Looks like I was right, they're not going down easily." Tomiko scowled. "Do I even want to know where they've been keeping hardware like those? Does it matter when I know I'm going to swim with paperwork when this is over?"
To her right, she could see two rockets fly overhead before demolishing the nearby tea shop. Shielding her eyes, she winced as the residual heat reached her.
"If I'm still around when this is over."
"LET'S SMOKE SOME PIGS!" A Ronin shouted, throwing a grenade out the window.
Just as it touches the ground, the grenade shoots up into the sky like a rocket before exploding.
"I need to work on my timing. A second longer and the street would have a major pothole." Hawks said, surprising everyone as he sat on a nearby rooftop behind the SWAT.
"HAWKS!" Tomiko shouted as the Wing Hero waved cheerfully.
One of the Ronin scowled at his arrival, pointing her RPG at him. Seeing this, Hawks winked at the female criminal before snickering. Suddenly, the rocket launcher was ripped from her grasp as she pulled out of the window. Screaming, she was quickly silenced as her allies retreated from that window.
"What The Hell Happened To Ashi?!"
"Forget About Her!" The leader demanded, his stone body cracking with fury. "Focus On The Plan!"
"A plan you say? Ooh, tell me more."
Before they could locate the voice, something latched onto him before he was flung at the wall. Immediately after, their leader got sprayed with white material and stuck onto the wall.
"Zura!" someone cried out before they were taken out as well.
Struggling, their leader growled. "What the fuck is this?"
"Spider Webs," The voice mocked before a monkey with four arms appeared in Zura's sight. "Spidermonkey Webs' to be exact. Don't bother struggling Rocky. My webs are as strong as steel."
As he touched the floor, Spidermonkey noticed Ronin aiming their weapons at him.
"Hoo-Hoo-Hoo-Hoo! I wouldn't try anything fellas, Hoo-Hoo unless you want to put some holes through your boss here." Spidermonkey jeered.
"Forget about me! Saving Lee is all that-"
Pointing his tail at the Ronin, Spidermonkey covered his mouth with webbing, muting Zura.
"We outnumbered you, freak. Release him and we might grant you a painless death."
With gleaming eyes, the vigilante smirked as the gangsters inched closer. He counted forty-eight, excluding their leader and the rocket girls from earlier.
To their annoyance, he tapped his chin.
"Tempting, but you clowns are forgetting something."
The feathers that pierced their weapons did good work reminding the Ronin that Spidermonkey wasn't their only problem.
However, even without their guns, they still had their Quirks.
"I'll admit that Hawks' arrival was unexpected. No matter, the Wing Hero will meet his end as well since our reinforcements shall arrive soon!"
*Crash*
The sudden hole in the ceiling did not favor Ronin well, and neither did the voice that followed.
"You got more friends coming? Sounds like hopping over was the right choice." Mirko grinned excitedly and cracked her neck.
Despite her arrival, The Ronin did not seem bothered as they readied themselves against Mirko, Hawks, and Spidermonkey.
Speaking of Spiderman, while they were distracted, he shot his webs at the closest Ronin before pulling him to the ground. As he tried to stand, he was kicked in the face, knocking him out.
And like a starting bell, the fight had begun.
Spidermonkey flipped over a pair of sword hands before sending a rising kick at a shark-girl as her gaping maws were violently closed and sealed with webs. As she tears it off, a feather snagged Shark-Girl's clothing and carried her towards Mirko, who used her as a springboard, sending her flying. Feeling another web on her back, Shark-Girl swung at her comrades like a wrecking ball before hitting the wall and staying down.
As a barrage of energy spheres followed her, Mirko bounced off the walls until she found their creator and launched herself at the criminal. Emerging from the floor, several hands appeared as they shot towards her. Unshaken, Mirko smirked and performed a cartwheel through the air.
"Luna Ring!" She called out as she broke through and slammed the sole of her foot on the crook's head, dispersing his homing sphere.
However, just as she landed, Mirko started glowing gold and froze in place.
Pointing at her, a girl nodded to her comrades and they rushed to her frozen state. Before they reached her, Pointer was caught in a neck-lock until she spun around and hit the floor with a bang to her head.
"Move Like A Monkey, Sting Like A Spider! Hoo-Hoo!" Spidermonkey joked before rushing to rescue Mirko.
Now unconscious, her hold over Mirko was broken as the Rabbit Hero was about to fight back, only for Hawks to knock the crooks out and finally enter the fight himself.
Glaring at him, Mirko shouted, "DON'T BUTT IN!"
"Thought you'd like some help, especially since the Ronin are throwing a farewell party for their boss," Hawks said before glancing at Spidermonkey. "You need to leave."
"Excuse me?" Spidermonkey frowned before an explosion was heard in the distance. "Was that their backup?"
"Not even close," Hawks frowned before throwing some feathers at the Ronin. "Commissioner Yoshihara just received an alert from one of her police cars. Their comms went dead before she could respond. You're more versatile than Mirko and me, so you check it out. We'll handle the Ronin."
"And then, we'll follow once we're done pounding these pricks," Mirko realized before kneeing a crook and roundhouse kicking her chest.
Before Spidermonkey could refuse, Hawks stated, "They were positioned at Monami Street."
Monami Street. That's where Tomobiki High is located.
With that realization, Spidermonkey nodded before slamming his symbol.
"Fasttrack!" He called out.
Without further delay, Fasttrack rushed through one of the windows and left the fight.
As the remaining Ronin started to surround them, Hawks smirked and Mirko cracked her knuckles.
"I'll handle support while you-"
"You'll do nothing while I handle these losers!" Mirko grinned viciously. "I don't work well with others."
"Weren't you just fighting alongside Omni?"
"Dumbass. That wasn't teamwork. It was a free-for-all fight! The one who kicks the most ass wins!"
Hawks rolled his eyes until he heard gunfire coming from outside.
"Whatever. How about I handle their backup and you deal with these guys?" Hawk started before glancing back at Mirko and smirked. "First one to finish gets free dinner on the loser's pay. By the way, I'd like some chicken tonight. Thanks."
"It's on, bitch!" Mirko yelled as Hawks left.
*Crack, Crumble*
Looking back, the Rabbit Hero could see Zura finally broke free from his sticky prison. Glaring at Mirko, Zura's hand turned into spike maces as he knocked them together.
"Well," Mirko bent her knees, eyes glowing with excitement. "You guys are members of a rank-A criminal organization. So…"
"...Make this hard for me. I like a challenge."
"You're serious?" A bespectacled young man, Megane asked.
Looking them dead in the eye, an athletic young man with a perm haircut, Perm stated.
"Dead serious."
"Perm, maybe you were mistaking him for someone else," guessed Chibi, the short teenager with buck teeth and blond hair, while Kakugari, a large teen with a crew cut, nodded shyly.
"So did I, but the proof was right in front of me." Perm crossed his arms.
"There was a girl at Ataru's house."
Class 2-4 went silent as his words echoed through their heads.
"Ataru?"
"That loser?"
A female student scoffed. "Who'd be crazy enough to be around that Quirkless freak."
"Maybe he's blackmailing this girl?"
"It's always the quiet ones who are the most fucked."
Megane glared back at Perm, who winced at their class's latest ridiculing of Ataru.
"Too loud?" He mumbled, only to receive punches from the Chibi and Kakugari. "OW!"
"Dumbass, why didn't you wait until Lunch to tell us?" Megane chided. "Now, they're going to mess with Ataru."
"Like they already don't," Chibi muttered.
Smacking him in the head, Kakugari said. "You forget who our first-period teacher is after homeroom."
Perm and Chibi paled as the thought came to mind.
"Sanjuro Kuribayashi," Megane confirmed with a solemn frown. "He's the best teacher in Tomobiki High and the worst person to teach your class."
"Especially if you're Quirkless," Chibi gulped.
Meanwhile, a blond young man with carrot-colored eyes was rubbing his girlfriend's back and flinched when the sides of her desk cracked.
"Shinobu, it's alright. They're not worth getting suspicion over. Besides, Ataru would blame himself if you got in trouble for his sake," He said, trying to soothe her growing rage.
"I know, Inaba. It's just that…Ataru has been through so much and I don't think these idiots will be as understanding as you are," Shinobu seethed.
"Considering what you two shared with me," Inaba smiled gently. "I don't believe they would either."
Although angry, she managed to smile back.
"It's a cold in hell when the Rabbit of 2-4 thinks badly of someone." She jeered, to which he chuckled.
"It's also rare to be dating a loving girl such as you." He pecked her cheek, calming her fury with his love.
"Well-" Shinobu started only to turn slack-jawed as their homeroom teacher, Hanawa stepped into the room with three new students.
Three incredible attractive students, much to Class 2-4 amazement.
And to Shinobu's shock, she knew one of them.
"Good morning! I hope everyone is doing well, especially after that storm yesterday," Hanawa greeted, only to be ignored in favor of the new students. "I'd like everyone to meet your new classmates."
"Ryunosuke Fujinami." He stated before clarifying. "For the record, I'm a girl."
That caught the class by surprise, but Hanawa smiled as he wrote that down.
"Yahoo," A drop-dead beauty with green hair grinned, waving to her new classmates. "My name is Lum Invader. I know my name sounds weird, but I'm not bothered by it at all. I hope we can be great friends."
"What Is She Doing Here!?" Shinobu thought, horrified.
"Holy crap, what a hottie."
"I know right."
"She makes that school uniform look sexy."
"Dude. She'd make anything look sexy."
Knocking on his desk, Hanawa pointed to their last newcomer, who had the female students shooting hearts his way.
A 17-year-old with well-kempt black hair with short bangs sticking out. Instead of the standard uniform, his gakuran was white and lacked any accessories with white dress shoes.
With a charming smile, he bowed to his classmates.
"It is an honor to meet everyone. My name is Shutaro Mendo," He greeted them, his black eyes driving the girls crazy. "I hope that we will find greatness together."
"What a handsome man."
"I know right."
"Ryunosuke looks so cute." A female student cooed, with her sister nodding.
"Now. Now, Everybody!" Hanawa called out, holding up his clipboard. "I've almost finished with the attendance."
"WHAT!?" His students shouted while others sweatdropped. "WHEN YOU DID START?!"
"When I entered and introduced your new friends. I know everyone's names and seating positions like the back of my hand, so it's no biggie," Hanawa smiled at his students.
"Damn, I always forget how efficient Hanawa-sensei is," Perm muttered.
Pushing his glasses, Megane nodded. "More like how dedicated he is to teaching."
Looking around the class, Hanawa asked. "Almost everyone is here, except for one. Has anyone seen Ataru Moroboshi?"
"Should it matter?" A student with silver hair and red eyes sneered, some agreeing with him. "Maybe he did the town a favor and killed himself."
"What did you say?" Lum stiffened, small sparks popping around her hand.
"Mr. Hatano! You shouldn't say such things about your classmates." Hanawa scolded, only for him to scoff.
"He's rarely around. Good thing since he'd stink up the air. A Quirkless freak like him won't live long in our society." Hatano said, unaware of two murderous auras trained on him.
"This bastard." Lum and Shinobu thought, ready to jump him. "He's dead."
However, Mendo suddenly joined the conversation.
"You shouldn't ridicule someone just because they are different from others." He said, much to the 2-4's shock. "If this is the type of environment Ataru Moroboshi has to deal with, then I'm not surprised that he has to avoid school."
Staring coldly at the bully, Ryunosuke added with a frown.
"Especially if he has to deal with such racist morons like you, Hatano."
"You want to start something?" Hatano scowled as his hands turned into claws. "You won't last two seconds, Pretty Boys."
"And your future wouldn't last two seconds if you dare to attack me." Mendo provoked him while clasping his arms behind his back. "Illegal use of quirks does horrible things to one's reputation."
"And I'm a woman, fuck-face." Ryunosuke scowled back.
"Hatano!" one of the students called out.
"Are you going to let this guy talk down to you?"
"Kick their ass!"
"Everyone, this isn't funny! You shouldn't be egging him like this." Inaba pleaded to his classmates, only to earn their ire.
"Shut it Rabbit!"
"Mind your business, Carrot Bitch!"
"WHAT DID YOU CALL HIM!?" Shinobu screeched, breaking off a piece of her desk. "WHO SAID IT!? WHO WANTS THEIR TEETH KICKED IN!"
Soon enough the whole class was arguing with each other.
Amidst this shouting, Hatano stood from his seat, claws digging into his desk.
Scoffing, Mendo allows his arms to glow a soft blue.
After cracking her knuckles, Ryunosuke shifted her footing.
Unbeknownst to everyone, Lum glared at Hatano as lightning danced quietly along her arms.
"THAT IS ENOUGH!" Hanawa shouted, finally losing his positive attitude as his Quirk took effect.
*Off-Tune Sirens*
However, the sounds of police sirens brought order to the classroom.
Moving towards the windows, they found a police car crashing into the front gates, followed by someone very familiar to Tomobiki High as he rolled across the lawn.
To a select few, he was very familiar.
A Few Minutes Earlier
The police siren grew louder as a smoke cloud became more visible. Stopping at a corner, Fasttrack found the police car.
A damaged police car with a burning engine block. Despite this, the broken siren continued to play.
A quick change to Water Hazard and the flaming car was dealt with.
"That explains the explosion and why Tomiko lost contact with them, but where are the officers?" Water Hazard said, looking around at the neighborhood. "And Monami Street is surprisingly pristine for the area of an explosion."
"I should change back. These quick changes do hell to the time limit. Hopefully, I haven't wasted too much energy." He thought.
"H-H-Hurts."
Before he could change, Water Hazard instinctively dived to the right as a crater suddenly took his place. On his back, he saw the police car falling towards him and quickly shot two high-powered water blasts at the car, raising its airtime. While he was saved, the car tumbled across the street until it crashed through the front gates of Tomobiki High.
Back on his feet, Water Hazard stared at the damaged gates and winced.
"That's not good," Water Hazard winced.
*Beep Beep Beep*
Looking at his flashing symbol, Water Hazard shouted. "THAT'S EVEN WORSE!"
Without warning, Water Hazard got hit from behind, launching towards the school as he reverted.
"OOF!" Omni crashed into the school fountain.
Sitting up, he rubbed his head with a grimace.
"Damn, if that didn't hurt," Omni winced when he saw blood dripping from his fingers before glaring at the Omnitrix. "You couldn't have chosen a worse time!"
Suddenly, he got lifted away as water exploded out of the now-destroyed fountain. Omni glared slightly at Hawks as he flew next to him with a feather carrying him away.
"That was fast. The Ronin?"
"Dealt with. And you're welcome for the save." He smirked before focusing on the new opponent. "Looks like I showed up at the right time."
Rising from the fountain, a large turtle-like humanoid growled at them. Surprisingly, she almost looked like she was wearing turtle armor instead of an actual turtle. They could tell it was a woman because the shell curved around her like body armor and the green skin seemed more like an exoskeleton than natural skin.
"You know this lady?"
"Fuck no," Omni glared at. "By the time I arrived at the scene, the police car was on fire, most likely the explosion we heard earlier. The officers were nowhere in sight and next thing I know, Turtle-Girl appears out of nowhere and attacks me."
"And she used their car like a baseball bat and made that hole." Hawks jokes as Omni flinched.
"Yeah," Omni nodded weakly. "She did."
Before Turtle could move, a shadow appeared over her and she looked upwards to see Mirko directly above.
"Luna Fall!"
As Mirko descended, her rabbit ears twitched.
"H-He-He-lp Me."
Mirko went wide-eyed as she canceled her attack and landed atop her opponent. Leaping away, she glanced back at Turtle, who was gripping her faceplate.
Once she reached them, Omni asked. "What happened? You hesitated?"
"Something's not right. I'm pretty sure she's crying for help."
Narrowing his eyes, Omni said, "I didn't hear anything."
"It's quiet, but I can hear her with my Rabbit Quirk." She stated, her rabbit ears twitching.
"What else?" Hawks asked, his eyes trained on the shaking Turtle as she scratched violently at the faceplate.
"Hur…ts. St…op hurt…ing. STOP!"
Like a bullet, Turtle rushed at them
Hawk sent his feathers at Turtle, but they bounced off her skin. Before the collision, she was blinded by several feathers covering her eye holes. Reluctantly, Mirko kicked Turtle in her shell and sent her tumbling towards Tomomiki High's garden. To their surprise, her shell was undamaged by the Rabbit Hero's kick as she violently removed the feathers before crushing them in her grip.
"Damn. I know I held back, but there isn't even a crack on that shell. " Mirko blinked.
"It isn't just her shell, her whole skin is too thick for my feathers to penetrate and she's strong enough to do some major damage to my feathers," Hawks stated before glancing at Omni. "Please tell me you've got something that can handle her."
"Don't think you can beat her?" Omni mocked, glancing at his Stabilizer.
"Oh I could, but it would take more feathers than I'd like to waste." Hawks admitted before Mirko shouted. "Look out!"
Suddenly, Omni jumped over a tree as it flew past him while Mirko sidestepped Turtle when she swiped at her.
Hawks slashed her back with his Feather Blades, catching her attention, before flying back when she spun around and nicked his jacket.
"Not a scratch!"
Meanwhile, Mirko lunged at Turtle and wrapped her legs around her neck.
"Sorry about this," The Rabbit Hero said before pulling her backward. "Luna Tijeras!"
As they plummeted, Mirko did a handstand while flipping Turtle over and slamming her into the ground. She quickly leaps back, scowling when Turtle stood up.
Despite this, she noticed her armor had cracked, but only slightly.
"Please stop. I want to stop. Get Off Me. It Hurts."
Hearing this, Mirko shouts. "It's The Armor! It's Hurting Her!"
Diving at Turtle, Hawks caught a glimpse of her eyes.
"Her eyes. She must have been pumped with drugs and now she can't control herself," Hawk grimaced before saying. "We need to remove her from it."
"No Shit! But your feathers can't pierce her and I might kill her if I use my full strength!" Mirko cursed, only to get knocked aside by Turtle, who rushed towards Omni. "I don't usually ask for help, but now would be a great time for your quirk!"
Meeting her halfway, Turtle brought her hands down, but Omni spun around and avoided it easily.
"I reached my time limit already. I need five minutes before I can change again." Omni said before ducking her sudden attack. "For a turtle, she moves like Mirko!"
"I take offense to that!" The Rabbit Hero yelled as she kicked Turtle away from him. "So we're stuck keeping her focused on us until your quirk works. Am I missing anything?"
While blinding Turtle once again, Hawks added, "You forgot that we need to avoid damaging the high school full of people."
"Right," She sighed before getting serious. "Five minutes is all we need?"
"Yes." Omni nodded as he focused on Turtle. "I know I have something to help us, but it will take time."
"Fine."
She screamed painfully as they prepared themselves.
"Let's make those minutes count."
"Oh, My God!" A female student gasped as Omni was sent flying only to be caught by Hawks' feathers. "This Is Nuts!"
"A team-up between Mirko, Hawks, and Omni! That ain't nuts, it's badass!" Another girl cheered when Hawks slipped his feather under Turtle and tripped her, allowing Mirko to land a double kick to her faceplate.
Some students were watching the battle below, while others were scared about getting caught in the fight below.
Standing near the chalkboard, Mendo narrowed his eyes as the battle was taking a strange turn.
"They're stalling. For what though?" He muttered.
"Whatever it is, Omni can handle it," Lum stated, watching the fight intensely.
To her left, Ryunosuke cheered as her hero smirked through bloody lips.
"A fan?" She asked, to which Lum nodded.
"You can say that."
Meanwhile, a nearby student watched the battle with horror before rushing out of the room.
The Omnitrix beeping was music to his ears.
"Buy Me Some Time!" Omni demanded before drawing back.
As Turtle tried to follow, she was quickly pelted by a feather barrage, but she managed to break a few before Mirko kicked her to the side.
With her focus on them, Omni went through his watch.
"I need someone who can put this crazy lady down," He said before the core popped out. "Come on, Four Arms!"
Slamming the core, Omni changed into a robotic armadillo.
"Armodrillo!" He called out before sighing. "Good enough."
Charging at Mirko, Turtle was side tackled by Armodrillo and they skidded across the ground. Managing to stand atop of her, the jackhammer on his elbows reeled back as Armodrillo pulled his arms back.
"I'm not going to kill her. I just need to break her shell and she'll be easier to handle."
Thrusting his palms onto her torso, the jackhammers pushed down and produced two powerful shockwaves, which created a large crater as a cloud of dust and dirt erupted beneath them.
As the dust settled, Armodrillo pulled his arms back as Turtle laid there as a tense silence filled the air.
Mirko stood beside him, ready to strike.
Above them, Hawks had his feathers float beside him, ready to send them like arrows from a bow.
*Cracking*
A thin crack appeared on her shell before it started to spread across her body. Once her faceplate had become fractured….
*Shattering*
….it broke apart, revealing her face.
However, they were stunned by the sight.
"A kid? She doesn't look any older than 14." Mirko said horrified.
Landing, Hawks narrowed his eyes. "Her skin almost matches Androburst."
Suddenly, they heard footsteps from behind and saw a student sprinting towards them with two teachers chasing after him.
"REIKI! GET BACK HERE!" Onsen gasped out as he struggled to keep up.
"Mr. Hatano!" Hanawa yelled out as he and Onsen followed him. "Please Stop! It's Not Safe Here!
"NO!" Hatano shouted back before Armodrillo grabbed him. "LET ME GO!"
"That's not going to happen, kid. You should listen to your teachers and head back inside," He ordered, but Hatano continued to struggle. "It's pointless to struggle. So-"
"MITSUKI!" Hatano screamed out, tears falling out. "IT'S REIKI! PLEASE ANSWER ME! PLEASE!"
Suddenly, Turtle shifted slightly as something slipped past her lips.
It was barely a whisper, but what they heard sent chills down Ataru's spine.
"...brother…."
Breaking free from his grip, Reiki sprinted towards her and kneeled next to her.
Tearfully, he nodded as he got her in a sitting position.
"Yeah, Mitsuki. Your big brother is here." He sobbed, cradling his little sister. "Everything will be okay."
Reverting, Omni swallowed nervously at the scene.
"You mean this whole time…." He paused, unable to finish.
He didn't need to.
With a grimace, Hawks nodded.
"We were fighting a kid."
"Is that everything you know, Hawks?" Tokuma requested over the phone. "Alright. Thank you and good job, man."
Placing his phone on the table, he glanced around the office and the fifty members who were enlisted in the investigation. Fifteen of them were Pro Heroes. Fortunately, some were offering aid through their Hero Agencies, which made things better.
Interestingly enough, Tokuma recognized three heroes who he couldn't have expected.
"Hawks found something important?" Detective Naomasa Tsukauchi asked, looking away from his reports.
Speaking to the investigation team, Tokuma announced, "There was an attack near Tomobiki High School."
As Tokuma recounted Hawks' report to them, Lady Nagrant was already searching through the reports until she found her.
Name: Mitsuki Hatano
Birthplace: Tomobiki, Japan
Age: 12(Now 13)
Color(S, H, E): Sea Green, Brown, Blue
Quirk: Tortoise- Covers her torso in a turtle-like shell. The user can remove or replace the shell if damaged.
Known Relatives:
Father: Jakuchu Hatano
Mother: Fusae Hatano
Siblings: Reiki Hatano
"You're saying that the assailant was…."
"One of the missing victims, Mitsuki Hatano." A deep voice echoed across the room, silencing everyone.
As he rested his arms on the table, Tokuma stared flatly at him.
"That's correct," He nodded. "Endeavor."
Scoffing, The Flame Hero glanced at the person to his left.
"It seems that your hypothesis is the most accurate, Nezu."
The Principal of U.A let out a deep sigh and looked more upset than proud.
"I truly hoped it wasn't. However, life is never that simple," Nezu lamented before glancing at the leaders of the investigation. "Would I also be right in assuming that you two were already aware?"
Lady Nagrant frowned as Tokuma shrugged.
"Would anyone like to share with the class?" An officer scowled. "What are you talking about?"
Glaring at the officer, Endeavor answered. "Is it obvious? There is one common factor between the missing people. And it's that they all possessed insufficient Quirks."
"Insufficient Quirks?"
"How about you explain it, Nezu-san?" Tokuma said as Nezu climbed onto the table.
"Of course. You see, each of the victims had quirks that were considered inadequate in one of two ways. First, their quirks could be viewed as powerful, but in reality, they were weaker than they should have been."
"This was the case for Androburst," Tokuma mentioned.
Nodding in agreement, Nezu continues. "The second scenario relates to Ms. Hatano. In her file, her Quirk was essentially creating a turtle shell around her body. From a public perspective, that is not a flashy quirk. However, Hawks mentions that she was covered from head to toe in a Turtle-like Exoskeleton."
"An exoskeleton that was completely impervious to Hawks' Fierce Wings Quirk. While his quirk isn't combat-oriented, his Feather Blades are no laughing matter." Lady Nagrant added while continuing her investigation.
"Which led to this conclusion," Endeavor crossed his arms, flames dancing around his burning gaze. "The criminals are targeting individuals with weak quirks and forcibly altering their Quirks. For what purpose, we'll know once I capture them."
"Once We locate them, Flame Brain," Tokuma mocked the Flame Hero, much to his annoyance. "While we may have a better idea of their preferences, that doesn't help when we don't have a general idea of where they take the victims."
Taking the spotlight, Naomasa stated. "After reexamining these cases, the Police have concluded that all of the disappearances have occurred in the Kanto Region. After further investigation, we've narrowed it down to the following Prefectures: Kanagawa, Tokyo, Chiba."
"Well then, that's something we can work with," Tokuma smirked. "If it's accurate."
"That's still a lot of ground to cover." An officer muttered, with the dragon hero letting out a small sigh.
Despite this, Ryukyu vowed. "But we'll cover every inch until the Villains responsible are brought to justice."
With a dark smile, Nezu chuckled sadistically while those around him cringed.
Except for Endeavor, whose flames became slightly hotter.
Away from Tomobiki High, two people went unnoticed as the police and ambulance swarmed the courtyard.
"Drip. Drop. Drip." He nodded as he wrote his notes. "This one is an improvement compared to my previous field test."
"Was it wise to release her?" A childish voice asked. "The heroes are no doubt investigating old Bomberman's new makeover. So, why hand them more fuel?"
"I need to see how the subjects react to an open environment. Also, While there are clear improvements, this one is ultimately another failure."
"In the end, you just throw the rejects at them while you save the breadwinner for yourself."
"In layman terms, yes."
"Brutal, boss."
"Perhaps, but their sacrifices won't be in vain. For, in the end, it is all for the sake of equality," He said, before shutting his journal. "I believe I've learned enough from this encounter. Let us be going now."
"What about Shell-Girl?"
"As I said, they can have her. Any memories relating to us have already been erased. Now then, back to the lab." He ordered. "Shizue should have brought our latest patients with her after releasing the failure."
With a shrug, the childish one follows the doctor.
But not before taking one last glance at Omni.
Shutting his phone, Hawks watched as Mitsuki Hatano, formerly Turtle, was placed in an ambulance with her brother following after her.
Mirko was explaining the situation to a police officer while Tomiko was still transporting the Ronin away.
After repairing the damages to the school, Omni left without a word.
The school understandably decided to end early as the students waited in their classes for them to leave.
"What a rush today was," Hawk sighed, staring up at the sky. "I got a feeling it's only going to get crazier from here."
"I'd ask you to be more careful, but that would be pointless," Sakura scolded.
In her early 30s, Sakura was a tall, beautiful woman with flowing black hair that reached her waist. Under her lab coat, she wore a tight red v-neck shirt with a window for her cleavage. A navy blue knee-length skirt clung to her like a second skin with a pair of white high-heels.
While she tightened the bandages around his torso, Ataru winced as he sat on a medical bed.
"Can't you use your powers?"
"I already healed your major injuries, so don't complain. If I acted as your private nurse, then it'd be like encouraging you to act recklessly more often." Frowning, Sakura huffed. "And don't insult my profession. I'm a Miko Priestess, not a quirk-user."
He wouldn't have replied, but a sudden pull of the bandage took the words out of his mouth.
Outside the nurse's office, they could hear voices coming closer, but thankfully for Ataru, he knew who they belonged to.
"Are you sure he's here?" Inaba asked, concerned.
"I doubt he'd go anywhere with his head bleeding," Shinobu said before snarling. "But if he isn't, then I'm going to have a few words with that idiot."
"Not before me, you're not. While I'm not against my Darling's choices, I will put my foot down if he doesn't take care of himself."
The last voice caught him by surprise.
"Lum?"
Opening the door, Shinobu peeked her head inside and noticed them. Walking inside, she was followed by Inaba, and surprisingly, Lum.
"Lum!?" Ataru exclaimed before crying out as Sakura harshly poked his back.
"Quiet," The nurse looked at the trio before glaring at the Oni. "And exactly who are you?"
Stepping forward, Inaba said. "It's alright, Sakura-Sensei. Lum knows about Ataru's secret."
"And maybe more," Shinobu frowned, crossing her arms. "Lum is Ataru's… girlfriend."
Sakura raised her brow.
"I know you're thinking, but it's true." She shrugged before glancing at Lum. "This is Sakura, Tomobiki High School's Nurse. The woman of our high school boys' hottest dreams."
"Thanks for that introduction." Sakura glowered silently, while Shinobu smirked at her.
Bowing to her, Lum said. "Thank you for helping my Darling. It is nice to meet you, all of you."
Sakura examined her briefly, but in the end, sighed and resumed her work.
"It's not a problem. Someone has to keep him alive when a fight becomes too much," She said, moving away from Ataru. "I'm done. You'll probably ignore this, but try to take it easy. Two days at the minimum."
Ataru nodded, preoccupied.
"How are you feeling, Ataru-kun? You're unusually somber," Inaba asked, concerned.
"I'm good. Just shaken is all," Ataru muttered, shaking his head before staring at Lum. "Why are you here and as a student?"
"It was supposed to be a surprise. My parents wanted me to continue my studies, so I was able to transfer here. I'm in Class 2-4, Your class." Lum mumbled, playing her fingers. "Does that bother you?"
Strangely enough, it didn't.
In fact, after everything that has happened….
"Not at all. It will be nice to go to school together." Ataru smiled gently.
Letting out a huge breath, Lum smiled back.
Clapping her hands, Sakura said. "Alright, save that stuff for your homes. You kids should get out of here. The Principal has decided that an early dismissal would be best for everyone. And Ataru, I mean it. Give your body time to recover."
Nodding, Ataru was handed his uniform by Lum.
As he went behind the covers to change, Lum looked back at Inaba and Shinobu.
"Will you come with us?"
"I just wanted to make sure Ataru was safe. To be honest, I was hoping to spend some time with Shinobu. If that's alright with you, Shinobu?" Inaba asked his girlfriend.
Smiling at her boyfriend, Shinobu nodded and said. "Stay safe, Ataru. We'll see you tomorrow."
"Bye."
Once they left, Lum turned her attention to Sakura, who was checking the medicine cabinets.
Curiously, She asked. "So, how did you learn about Darling's secret?"
"He told me about it," Sakura revealed coolly as her finger tapped every bottle and jar in her possession.
"Why?" She asked, cocking her head.
Pausing, Sakura felt voices echo through her head.
"I want to help you, Sakura."
"Why?"
"Because if you know you can help someone, then why shouldn't you?"
"You don't know what this could affect you."
"I know that you want to live a normal life."
"Nagi…"
"Trust me. What do we have to lose?"
"We both cared about him," Sakura whispered, regret dripping from her lips.
Before she could ask, Lum had been pulled away as Ataru shook his head.
"Don't."
"Darling?" Lum started, before nodding under his stern stare.
Looking back at Sakura, Ataru said softly.
"Later, Sakura."
Without further delay, Ataru and Lum left the nurse's office.
Now alone, Sakura went to her desk and fell on her chair. Lost in the past and mourning the student she loved like a son.
Wishing that she never passed her spirits to Nagi.
P.S: The relationship between Lum & Ataru is moving at a rapid speed. There is a reason for this and it will be explained in later chapters.
P.S.S: A lot has happened in this chapter. Thankfully, the next one will be more chill. Less serious and more funny/casual. A 'Normal' Day at Tomobiki High.
