Binding the Galaxy Together
Chapter 3 – Self Discharged
Outside Camilla's room, the two pro heroes and the detective were STILL talking about all the information they had gathered on the girl and put it together. Mirko and Ryukyu were sure of what it all meant but Tsukauchi remained to be full convinced. The supernatural was just natural nowadays but for a lot of people including him, aliens were where the line was drawn.
"I don't believe it. I absolutely refuse." He adamantly said to the two pros.
"Detective I understand how shocking this must be." Ryukyu tried to be gentle here. "But the all evidence points to this being the only conclusion."
"That trippy tech she had with her was something completely not of this world. And those pipe things of hers….well I don't know what those do but it sure is some alien crap. After hearing from Haru the cleanup guy, there's no other explanation."
Tsukauchi groaned a bit louder than he had intended to. He was on his third about to be fourth cup of coffee and he was in desperate need of sleep. Even without all of that however, this would have caused the same reaction.
"Good morning!"
Their attention however was diverted away when a familiar blue haired girl came in, making Ryukyu flash a welcoming smile.
"Nejire-Chan. Please join us."
Nejire nodded and walked over to the group, joining her mentor at her side.
"You remember Detective Tsukauchi. And this here of course is Mirko."
The two nodded hello to the young student.
"Right! It's super nice to see the two of you! My full name is Nejire Hado! I'm a second year at UA!"
"Yeah I watched you fight during the sports festival a few weeks ago. You can kick some serious ass, kid."
Mirko always was one to admire ferocity and this girl had it. Especially with that amazing quirk of hers. Nejire flashed the rabbit hero a smile before she turned back to Ryukyu.
"So what have I missed? Is the girl ok? Is she a student? Oh! Have any calls been made to her parents yet?"
"Slow down Nejire-Chan. Slow down."
The dragoon hero put a hand to her intern's shoulder to quell her habit of asking a million questions a minute.
"So far we have very little knowledge save for one….kind of big fact."
"It's not a fact." Tsukauchi interrupted the number nine hero. "Not yet at least."
"Tsukauchi, come on and open your eyes!" Mirko was already getting frustrated with this. "I know it's insane! But what else could it be?!
A large chorus of "SSSSSHHHHHH!" was her response from all the doctors and nurses in the area. Mirko looked around and remembered that she was in a hospital filled with patients who were probably trying to rest. Even Ryukyu was looking at her with a look a mother would have when scolding a child. The look caused the rabbit hero to rub the back of her head and sheepishly chuckle out an apology.
"Soooooo….what is this big fact?" Nejire wondered aloud.
Ryukyu sighed. Hopefully Nejire would be easier to convince of this than some others. And if that were so, she could be a big help.
Meanwhile back in the room, Camilla sat up in her bed sitting cross legged while she mulled things over. Every answer the ruby haired girl gave to Tsukauchi only caused more worry than relief for her.
"Now tell me, Miss Sharro. Do you know where you're from?"
The girl took a small moment to answer and looked as if she was trying to find the right words. But she turned back to Tsukauchi two seconds later.
"My home I suppose is Corsucant."
Both Tsukauchi and the doctor were looking at her interested.
"Coruscant? I can't say I've ever heard of that place. Where is it located?"
Camilla's head turned from side to side, looking between the two and sounding confused as she gave another answer.
"It is the republic capitol in the interior of the galaxy. Do you not know of it?"
Camilla was visibly starting to show signs of panic here. Meanwhile Aoki and Tsukauchi had no idea as to why. They were more concerned on the choice of words the girl chose to go with. They were sure they heard it one way but were certainly hoping she meant another. Did the hit to her head really cause her to believe that she was from another planet?
"Okay let's try something else." Tsukauchi quickly said. "Where are your parents?"
This time Camilla's face grew softer and her mouth curved to a frown. She looked down at the sheets as she shifted her feet under them and sat cross legged.
"My mother and father were killed in an attack when I was two years old."
Now it was the other two humans' turns to frown. Neither of them wanted to upset her, let alone bring up the bad memory of her parents' death. Camilla could immediately feel one of the doctor's hands return to her shoulder in a sign of comfort.
"Oh sweetheart, I'm so sorry." Aoki softly said to her.
"I am too." Tsukauchi added. "I certainly didn't mean to bring up a delicate matter."
But Camilla waved his worries off.
"No no. Don't worry about it. It happened a long time ago. I've processed and accepted that it has happened and it can't be undone. Such is the will of the Force."
As relieved as the two of them were that she was so forgiving, Tsukauchi and Aoki couldn't help but feel another wave of concern wash over them. The way she spoke….it was like she was used to bad things happening to her. What did this girl go through in her life that caused her to be used to these types of things at such a young age? And what was the will of the Force? It sounded like some sort of cult motto. More and more questions just piled on and Tsukauchi wasn't sure where he should stop.
"What about your plane? Why were you in that plane and what caused it to crash?"
Though wanting to help her, Tsukauchi knew he had a job to do first. Camilla looked in his direction again and answered.
"You mean my fighter? I…." Again she flinched, remembering the dream she just woke up from, and the experience that it was causing her to relive. "….I was running…I don't know what happened but my troopers just turned on me…they started to chase me. I hopped in my fighter and tried to jump into hyperspace to safety. But I must have gotten knocked off course before I jumped…and I don't even know where I am now."
Again, the Aoki and Tsukauchi were now more worried for Camilla. Mainly for her mental health.
"Can you please tell me what planet this is?"
It was the doctor that answered her.
"Sweetie, this planet is called Earth…and I think you're a little confused. You should lie down and rest now."
Camilla couldn't see Doctor Aoki but she could definitely hear her tone. It was pity mixed with fear. She could easily sense what that mixture meant.
"You think I'm lying."
"I didn't say lying. I said confused." Aoki corrected her quite quickly.
"I think the doctor is right. Take a few more minutes to rest and I'll come back later."
The detective left the room soon after and Aoki did so a bit later to talk to a few other doctors about something called a CT scan. Alone in her room, Camilla ran her thoughts through her head to try and get her bearings on what to do next. First off, they thought she was crazy. Or mentally damaged but either way she could easily sense neither of them believed her when she told them the truth. But at least they yielded one bit of info. They name of this planet; Earth. It wasn't one she was familiar with at all. In fact she was certain she had never heard anyone ever mention the world at all. If she had landed on a planet that was so far out of the galaxy's reach then it could be both a good thing and a bad thing. But those could be determined later.
From the moment she woke up, Camilla could feel it. This world was absolutely overflowing with Force energy. She knew the Force was a power beyond any other but not even the most lush of forest moons could compete with how much energy she felt coming into her body right now. What did this world have that others didn't? And were they even aware of it? Perhaps they were considering their light.
Everything about this world was causing her brain to do flips. She needed info and she had a feeling these people weren't going to give it to her. Her first was to get her things back and find her ship. Once she got back to it, she could get everything she needed and start working on surviving. She stood up to move again but stopped when she heard the door open.
"Oh! Oh no dear you shouldn't be moving all by yourself!"
It was Doctor Aoki. And….others. While Aoki made her sit back down, Camilla turned to the door and sensed three new beings standing in the doorway with Detective Tsukauchi. Two of them felt familiar, presumably from last night. But the third one she didn't recognize.
"Who are you three?"
That question caught all five of them by surprise. Her face was looking right at the three heroes when she asked it too.
"I recognize Tsukauchi and Doctor Aoki. But I don't know the three of you."
Over with the four in the doorway, they just looked back and forth between each other, confusion growing like a popcorn bowl ready to overflow. All they did was come in. None of them announced themselves save for Aoki. And they certainly didn't say how many of them there were.
"Is she really good at guessing games?" Nejire whispered to Ryukyu.
Mirko kept her eyes locked on the blind girl, suddenly much wearier then before.
"How the hell did you know who and how many of us came in here if you can't see?"
Camilla decided to satisfy them only with a half truth.
"I heard you outside while you were talking."
That brought the stress down a bit. The girl could immediately sense that. She knew though they had a reason for coming in.
"Young lady, my name is Ryukyu. With me is a student to my work, Nejire Hado."
"Hello!"
"And this here is Mirko. The two of us are professional heroes and we want to help you."
"Nice to see you're alright, kid."
Once again, more and more questions about this world piled onto what Camilla had building up.
"Professional…heroes?" It sounded so silly. "You capitalize on saving people and make money off it? How does that work?"
"Hey don't say it like that! You don't know half the shit we go through!" Mirko shouted
"Rumi!" Ryukyu tried to quiet her rabbit friend.
"You two are the ones who were at the beach last night. When I crashed."
The two pros looked at each other briefly before glancing back.
"Yes that was us. You were lucky you know. Not many kids your age would live to tell the story about a wreck like that."
"Yes I wanted to ask about that." Camilla was glad she brought it up. "Where is my ship? Is it still on the beach?"
"No." Mirko answered this time. "I had it moved."
"Well I'd like to leave now and go to it. Even if it is damaged beyond repair I would still like to reclaim some things still inside it."
So there was even more of that weird technology inside the small spaceship? It didn't seem possible considering how small it was.
"Sorry sweetie but we can't let you leave yet. We need to keep you here for at least another day for observation." Doctor Aoki said.
"And even if you could leave you wouldn't be able to just take back the plane like a lost purse or anything like that. That's not how it works here." Tsukauchi added on hoping he was quick enough to curb her thoughts on it.
Only he didn't. If anything that only fueled Camilla's desire to leave even more. Who were they to try and keep her here if she didn't want to be? Now there were trying to tell her that her fighter can't be reached? Thanks to whom? The world's government? So not only did these people think they were the only life in the universe, but now they think just because something lands here that it belongs to them by default?
"Your eyes go with your hair."
If someone were to take a hammer to Camilla's thoughts, that's what it felt like when she heard Nejire ask that question.
"Um…I'm sorry. What?"
She turned over to the blue haired girl utterly unsure of what to make of pliment? Out of all of the compliment's she'd ever received, she had never heard one said about her eyes. Nejire in kind approached her and squatted down to look closer at the blind girl.
"Your hair is red and your eyes are kinda whitish right? Red and white go really great together! But have you ever thought of putting in fake contacts to make it look like you aren't blind? I mean you'd know but no one else would. Oh! How about blue ones? I bet blue eyes with your hair would be great!"
"Nejire-Chan."
Ryukyu's call was a little louder than usual, but that was necessary to make Nejire stop asking such invasive questions. The girl was powerful and had an amazing quirk but boy she was unable to tell when she was invading someone's personal space.
"I think Camilla here needs to rest for a few more minutes." She beckoned her intern over to her. "We apologize for disturbing you, Miss Sharro. We just wanted to see you and meet you for ourselves really quick."
"We'll come back in a few minutes to have a real conversation. We just need to figure a couple things out." Mirko added.
With that, the detective walked out with the three heroes on his tail. Only Doctor Aoki was left behind with her when the door closed, leaving her alone with Camilla.
"Finally."
The four of them had left. That meant they had probably gone to another room to talk so no one else could hear them lest they risk getting eavesdropped by her again. The young ruby haired girl had already started to form a plan when she woke up and felt that her feet were bare.
"My clothes and my things, Doctor. Do you know where they are?"
Doctor Aoki looked at her oddly but answered her nonetheless.
"Yes I know. I helped collect and store it. Why do you ask?"
"I'd like for them to be returned to me."
Doctor Aoki sighed. Sure Camilla was calm in her voice but she was asking her to break the rules.
"I'm sorry, Miss Sharro. We can't return your things to you until you've been discharged. And we don't know how long it's going to take for that to happen considering your mental state."
Camilla was not afraid to let her scowl be seen but did try to reign it in.
"Remember your training, Camilla. Don't let anger in."
"Why is my mental state being called into question?"
Doctor Aoki stood up and took a look at the IV bag, noticing its low level.
"Well sweetheart you took a pretty hard hit to the head. It may be best to keep you here for a while longer until we kind find out just how bad the damage is."
The next thing Aoki heard was a long sigh come from the teenager. She just figured it was out of impatience like most teens tend to be.
"Well I'm sorry but that's just how it is. Now you just lie down and I'll go get-"
When she turned around, she jumped back startled when she saw Camilla standing right in front of her, only inches away from her body. She was about to tell her to lay back down but the look on her face stopped her from doing that. She mouth was turned into a small frown and those eyes…those eyes were looking right at her. Aoki had no idea how that was possible but this blind girl was staring right into her own eyes. One of Camilla's feet took a step forward, and then another, and one more before she closed the gap. For some reason Aoki just couldn't find the will to move away from her. She didn't even make a peep when the teen's left arm moved up and her hand was placed on Aoki's right shoulder. Camilla then raised her other arm and held her right palm up at her head level.
"You will remove these needles from my body, bring me back my things without question, and then go home."
As Camilla said those words, her palm swished to the right ever so slowly. A moment later, Aoki's expression fell from kinda freaked out, to emotionless and flat.
"I will remove these needles from your body, bring you back your things without question, and then go home."
Aoki responded back to her with the tone of a dull robot. Exactly what Camilla wanted. Her mind trick worked. She stepped back and allowed the now warped doctor to unplug the IV from her arm. Then she mechanically walked out of the room closing the door behind her while Camilla watched her go with a flat look. She was happy it worked but not very pleased about having to do it.
"I'm sorry, doctor. I didn't want to do that but you didn't give me a choice. Though now I'm curious. Mind tricks take a bit more effort from me for them to be effective. Yet it wasn't this time around. Perhaps all this Force energy is in play here?"
As she ruminated over her thoughts, she sat down on the bed again and softly tapped her toes to the floor. It made a small "smack" noise with every tap. A couple minutes later Aoki walked back into the room with clothes draped over a box that carried the rest of her thing. When she set it down on the bed next to Camilla, she turned and walked out again, still under the effects of the mind trick and now going home.
Camilla stood up and ran her hands over the clothes. These were indeed hers alright. She recognized the material. Pushing them off the box, she felt the outline of her boots. Reaching into the box more she could feel all of her other possessions were still there and in one piece. Her binoculars, her communicator, and her belt were ok. Next she ran a hand over what she felt to be a familiar round piece of metal. She'd recognize the feel of those etchings anywhere on her palm. Pulling it out, she felt it over and was relieved to discover it hadn't been tampered with. She did the same with the other one making sure it wasn't broken. Thankfully it was. When she was done inspecting those there remained one more thing to look for. The small holo-projector disk. When she found it, she pressed the button on it and the image of her fighter popped up. Then she double pressed the button one more time. A small beep began to ring out from the device in five second intervals.
"Yes! The tracking beacon still works!"
She double tapped the disk again and shut it off completely as she raced to take her hospital gown off. It wasn't going to be long before the detective and those heroes came back in here to check on her again. Hopefully by the time they did, she would be gone.
While that happened, over in the same empty room that Mirko, Ryukyu, and Tsukauchi talked in the night prior, they were there again. This time Nejire was standing there amongst them getting caught up to full detail on the situation at hand. She was given a brief summary but not a lot of details in front of the room Camilla was in but now that they had some time, they went over the details one more time to see if anything was missed. Nothing was. It was the same conclusion every time they put the facts together.
"So let me see if I have this straight." Nejire started. "Camilla over there, who is blind and quirkless, crashed last night on the beach in a weird looking plane that nobody recognizes. She was brought here to the hospital where they confirmed she was blind and quirkless. You looked through her stuff. You couldn't make heads or tails of it. Then Mirko called the guys who looked over her plane and they found it it's filled with metals that don't appear on Earth anywhere. That's when you cemented in your idea that Camilla is an alien."
When broken up into a brief summary, both pro heroes and Tsukauchi were reminded on how crazy this all really sounded without any more proof then what they have now. It still didn't stop all three of them from giving Nejire a nod as confirmation. Of course though, the blue haired student's reaction was one not of the norm.
"That's so cool! Oh what planet do you think she comes from? Do you think everyone there is blind? Oh and what about her weird hair braid thing? Could that be a cultural style or just a personal choice?"
"Nejire-Chan, please slow down." Ryukyu called to her intern once again. "Right now we pretty much don't know any more than you do."
"And it's pissing me off." Mirko added. "If this girl is an alien then who's to say there aren't more out there headed this way? Or what if there's someone looking for her and they come here willing to get violent to find her?"
"Those are all questions we will ask her in time, Mirko." Tsukauchi said to the rabbit hero. "She's still recovering and might have some of her memories jarred from that impact. The best course of action would be to let Doctor Aoki and everyone else here take care of her until she's fit to be discharged. Then we'll question her more deeply."
The two pro heroes nodded again, agreeing with the idea.
"Well OK." Nejire also agreed but had a follow up concern. "What about after that?"
Suddenly Nejire found herself on the receiving end of three different stares. Ryukyu, Tsukauchi, and Mirko were all looking at her as if this was a question they had never considered yet. For good reason too, but Nejire kept talking.
"After you question her where is she going to go? She doesn't have a working ship anymore according to you. If this isn't her home planet then essentially we're just going to let her roam free on a world she's never heard of with customs and rules she knows nothing about. That doesn't sound like a good idea if you ask me, unless any of you had a plan for that."
"Whether or not she goes free is still up for debate." Tsukauchi stopped her. "We don't know enough about her to warrant her release just yet. I'd like to keep her under watch until we can learn more about her and what she can do."
"The doctors said she's quirkless. She can't do much of anything." Mirko bluntly said. "You really think she's gonna be that much of a problem?"
"Maybe we should ask her what she wants." Ryukyu suggested. "Maybe we can come to some sort of agreement. We should consider ourselves lucky that she can understand and speak our language."
None of them could deny that. They were sure talking to an alien would come with some sort of communication problem. But here was a human one that seemed to have no trouble talking to them even if she couldn't see.
"You're right, Ryukyu. Let's go speak with her again. We all know she's restless to get out of here." Tsukauchi said as he stood up out of his chair.
The three present heroes all stood up with him and nodded, agreeing with him. A short walk later and they were out in front of the door again. Before they went in, Ryukyu took a look down to her young apprentice.
"Nejire-Chan, I know you have questions for her but remember. A hero doesn't bombard anyone with a million questions before they can even answer one."
Nejire chuckled sheepishly as she rubbed the back of her head.
"You're one to talk about bad habits you can't quit, Ryuko." Mirko teased this time.
Ryukyu rolled her eyes and turned back to the door. While she cared about Camilla even though she hardly knew her, she certainly was ready to put an end to this ordeal. The dragoon hero didn't even want to think about how many other requests for her there could be. Turning the knob, she walked in expecting to see Camilla lying in her bed still annoyed that she was stuck here.
What she nor anyone else that came in with her expected Camilla to be standing up with her clothes and booths back on, and putting her things back into the utility pouches on her belt.
"Hey!"
Mirko's call got Camilla's attention and she turned her head in the direction of the hero's voice.
"Yes?" She inquired calmly.
"Who the hell gave you all your stuff back?" The rabbit hero demanded to know, anger present in her voice.
"Doctor Aoki did." Camilla answered retaining that calm tone. "Then she went home."
Tsukauchi was looking dead into her glazed eyes as he talked now.
"She just went home?"
"Yeah. She walked out, gave me my things back, then she left to go home."
Camilla didn't really seem to care about the way they were talking to her. She turned back to her things and grabbed the only two objects that remained on the bed; the two metal tubes. The red one she placed on the right side of her belt, hanging upside down by a wheel shaped clip on the bottom of it. The other one she did the same with on her left side.
Tsukauchi was using his quirk on her when she said that line. Camilla wasn't lying. Doctor Aoki did just go home. But why? She had to know how important her presence here was at the time. What the hell could just make her decide to up and leave without even telling him?
"And what do you plan to do now that your possessions are returned?" Ryukyu wondered, hoping the answer wasn't a bad one.
"I plan to go and find my ship. Hopefully not everything was destroyed. Then I have to find a way off this planet and get back to my galaxy. I don't know for sure what happened but I need to get in touch with my master. Surely he will be able to provide me with answers."
Okay. All she wanted to do was leave. That was a good sign. No hostility or anything like that planned. However with how damaged her ship was, it looked like she wasn't completely aware of just how impossible that feat was yet. Calming as that may have been, they still just couldn't let her go on her own. She was a blind teenager after all. She needed a guide.
"No offense, Camilla. That doesn't sound like a good idea. I mean you don't even know where you are. And that's not because you can't see."
As Camilla flipped her cloak back around her body and put her arms through the sleeves, a frown stretched across her face again.
"I would appreciate it if you don't assume to know what I'm capable of or not because of my eyes alone."
Mirko didn't like that. Neither did Tsukauchi. She sounded fed up when she said that back to Nejire. The blue haired girl flinched back a bit, kinda feeling like she deserved it.
"Right! I'm sorry! I didn't mean to make any assumptions! Just please don't go!" Nejire frantically shouted.
The ruby haired teen turned back around now fully in her robe and old looking clothes. Her face was a little softer as she walked forward and put a hand on her shoulder. The moment she did, all four of them looked at her with great surprise. IF she was blind, how did she know how far to walk and to just perfectly put her hand on Nejire's shoulder? Did she just have really good hearing or something?
"I'm sorry too, Miss Nejire." Camilla spoke gently to her. "But I'm afraid I must go. Thank you and your heroes for bringing me here but it's time I left."
She turned around again seemingly walking towards the window. But before she could get two steps away, Mirko rushed through and grabbed the blind girl by her left wrist. The look on the pro hero's face was drenched in anger as she glared down at Camilla with her eyes filled with fire.
"Mirko…" Ryukyu was scared her friend would do something Rash and tried to calm her.
Mirko wasn't having it. Her patience went from kinda there to gone in a millisecond.
"Listen kid. This is how this works. You crashed, got hurt, and you don't get to leave until the doctors say you can. And even then, when they say you can go, you still have to stay with at least under one of our watches until you start answering our questions. There is no other option here for you."
That was all Camilla needed to hear. They WERE trying to keep her here. That was her breaking point. She stood them for as long as she could and now it was time to get away and think of a way OFF this planet. First point in that was to find her ship. Now that she had her gear back, she could do just that. All she had to do was leave. This big rabbit person however, seemed intent on making sure that didn't happen.
"A Jedi uses the Force for knowledge and defense. This counts as self defense right?"
"Now give us back your stuff and lay back-ack!"
Mirko's voice strained off when she felt a sudden jolt of pain go up her hand and to her wrist that was grabbing Camilla. Looking down at her hand, she saw another one hovering near it with the fingers outstretched. Looking up, she saw that it was Camilla's hand, and the girl herself did not look happy right now as she glared back at Mirko. As she moved her palm to the side, Mirko could feel her fingers forcibly become unclenched from the teen's wrist. When she was free, Camilla stepped back and away from the rabbit hero with her arm still up. Mirko, along with everyone behind her, looked in shock at the girl as they saw her using…a quirk?
"What….the hell…is this?" Mirko strained to say.
This grip of Camilla's whatever it was, refused to get looser even with Mirko's struggling.
"My apologies, heroes. And to you too, detective."
She made a pushing motion with her arm and suddenly Mirko was pushed off her feet and back through the air a couple yards. She was caught by Tsukauchi and Ryukyu together albeit a bit clumsily. Then they watched as Camilla turned that same arm back around and to the window. The latch was heard turning open by itself and then when Camilla turned her palm upward, the window slid up, opening all the way. She couldn't make out their facial details, but Camilla was sure imagining the looks on their faces were priceless right now.
"But I have plenty of options."
There wasn't another moment to waste before they regained their composure. Without hesitation, Camilla turned on her heel and ran straight for the window. Ryukyu called after her to stop but she was too late. The ruby haired girl tucked into a ball and jumped right out the window of the hospital's fourth floor. The four other people in the room huddled around the window in a panic and Mirko was ready to hop after her. What happened next stopped her.
Rather than just splat on the ground, Camilla somersaulted in the air right as she past the second floor and performed a perfect crouched landing on her feet. Standing back up, she dusted herself off and threw the hood of her cloak over her head. Then she ran. Boy did she run down the sidewalk to get as far away from this place as she could.
"Brilliant doctors in this place! Quirkless they said! Blind they said! Then what the hell do you call all of that?!"
Enough time was wasted. Mirko jumped out the window and landed a bit harsher than the teen before her.
"EVERYONE MOVE! CHASE IN PROGRESS!"
Any civilian in her path, which was quite a number, all jumped to either the left or the right when they heard her yell that. Growling, Mirko gave chase to the ruby haired girl. Up in the hospital, Ryukyu and Nejire were rushing to get out of it as they planned to join her in the run. Tsukauchi was on the radio with his precinct ordering a chopper to get in the air and converge on her location by following Mirko.
Back on the street, Camilla turned her head back to see Mirko was calling after her, ordering her to stop. There was no way she had any intention to. She had originally wanted to ask them for their help but her trust in them waivered majorly back there. Now she wasn't sure she wanted any "help" from the people of this planet if THEY were their supposed heroes. Reaching into her belt pouch, she took out her holo disk and double tapped the center button. The beeps came back to her ears again. As she ran, she could hear it. The beeps intervals were getting shorter. Now she had a path to follow that would lead to her ship. This next act was going to take quite a bit of effort to do while running but here she was about to give it a shot. Camilla closed her eyes and let loose the best running sigh she could to try and stretch out her feelings. When she opened them again, she made a hard right into a nearby alleyway and jumped to the left. Then she bounced off the wall to the right. Then left. Then right. And again and again until she reached the top of the building she was on. She kept right on running.
"Be with me, Force! Be with me!"
She cried that out to motivate herself as she reached the ledge and used her power to leap as high as she needed to. Then another cry of an animal distracted her. While in midair she grunted harshly as she felt another body slam into her and send her rolling and sprawling to the ground. Thankfully for her, Mirko landed on the roof she was aiming for and on her feet with the girl caught in the grip of her arms.
"That's….not being with me."
Mirko scoffed again as she looked down at the top of the girl's head.
"Look I'm not trying to be mean here but you aren't giving me much of a choice. You gotta cooperate with us. It's for your own good."
A thud nearby made Mirko look over and see Ryukyu in her dragon form landing near them on the same rooftop. Nejire-Chan was floating next to her thanks to Wave Motion propelling her. Ryukyu's expression couldn't be noticed with her dragon face but Nejire had a look of genuine worry on hers.
"Wait! Mirko let her go! She's only running because she's scared! I'm sure of it!"
"That's not the point, kid!" Mirko shouted back.
The felt a familiar push try to untwist themselves from Camilla's body but this time she tried to push back, causing Camilla herself to strain.
"No way, girlie! I'm not letting you go!" Mirko cried with determination.
"Then I'm sorry."
Mirko felt the tension go away thinking the teenager was giving in.
*PSSSSHHHHHEEEWWW!*
The loud noise, wherever it came from startled Mirko enough to loosen her grip and allow Camilla to slip from it. When she jumped away, the rabbit hero took a step to follow but froze when she saw what she saw. She, Ryukyu, and Nejire all looked on in a bit of awe and fear as they saw the red metal tube in Camilla's hand. Only now there was a bright green glowing rod extended out of the top and giving out quite the loud hum noise.
None of the three heroes had any idea what that thing was. But none of them felt like they wanted to find out. Especially so when they watched Camilla grip the metal handle with both hands and crouch down into a fighting stance like one would do with a sword.
"I refuse to be kept in a cage."
