Binding the Galaxy Together

Chapter 6 – Her Story

The walk to Ryukyu's agency was a relatively short one from the warehouse. In fact the path to it was quite a nice one with a few good sights along the way. Some nice shops, a good spot where heroes normally are seen patrolling, and a nice row of pretty good restaurants. People were already bustling on this Saturday morning to enjoy their weekend and the sidewalks were crowded. With the sun out in the blue sky and only a few clouds surrounding it, the people of Musutafu were looking at today with barely a worry about them.

"MOVE!"

But they immediately parted to form a path when the unmistakable voice of the buff rabbit hero rang out into the crowd. As they all disperse, she, Ryukyu, Detective Tsukauchi, and Nejire could be seen together ushering a red headed girl no one else recognized. None of them answered questions or stopped for photos or autographs. Their only concern was getting Camilla somewhere she could feel safe and relaxed. Save for the girl herself, the rest of them weren't sure exactly what was happening with those messages save for the obvious facts they left. Camilla was stranded on a planet she knew nothing about with no way to get off it and nowhere to go even if she could. But they needed more details than that. To get them though, they needed her to calm down.

A full blown panic attack was something the young Jedi had never expected to experience before. She had been taught rigorously to not let fear in and overpower her. But hearing her master's last words to her from R3, combined with Master Obi Wan's message that the republic she fought for was gone along with the Jedi, it was too much. As short as the walk may have been, it felt like time no longer had any meaning to her. Every heavy footstep she took felt like an eternity passed as she looked back behind her. She could still hear her droid rolling and beeping behind her. He was all she had left of her world now since her ship was practically scrap metal now.

Finally the group reached the front door to Ryukyu's agency building which was affectionately named, "The Dragon's Den." Quickly rushing inside, Ryukyu locked the door behind them as soon as R3 rolled inside the doors. Once they were in they wasted no time taking her to the elevator. The man sitting at the front desk to greet them didn't even get a hello. They stood in the elevator as it rose up and each of them looked down to the girl to see if she was any better. She wasn't. Her eyes were still wide and unmoving with shock while fresh tears continued to leak down her face and soak her cloak and tunic.

"Camilla…." Nejire was hesitant to say anything now.

She had no idea what kind of words would work here. No one else really had a clue either and it seemed it was going to stay that way until they got to the bottom of what those messages that played back meant to the girl. That however seemed like it was going to have to wait. Again. It seemed to be a pattern for today. Every time Tsukauchi or one of them tried to ask about Camilla's story something interrupted them be it a villain or a droid. Now it was a full on panic attack from the person in question.

The elevator dinged when it reached the second floor. Camilla was gently escorted out and then led down a ways into the building. She wasn't paying attention so she wasn't using her power to see what was going on around her. The whole time she had started walking here from the warehouse her vision was essentially shut off so she had no clue where she was. It mattered to her not though in this moment. She was too distraught to care.

"Bring here in and sit her down."

That was Ryukyu's voice she could hear as another sound like a door, clicked into her hearing and a small creak accompanied it. Again she was ushered through it and then she was told to sit down. Still breathing irregularly and her heart beating through her chest, Camilla complied. When her rear end plopped down she felt something soft. Running her hands briefly over the surface she could feel the unmistakable touch of fabric sheets. She was sitting on a bed.

"…where have you brought me?"

Finally she was speaking again. That was something at least. She didn't mutter a single peep the entire way here.

"You're in my agency." Ryukyu answered. "It's a building I own and operate out of."

There was no verbal response from the alien girl immediately. Just a few more sharp breaths in and out of her lungs. Her hands clenched the sheets as she tried her best to calm herself down but it was becoming too hard to even think with everything she just came to realize.

"….what am I supposed to do?"

That was a very good question. One that even the four others around her were asking themselves as they glanced back and forth at each other. What were they supposed to do now? Even though she wasn't reacting as extreme as she was minutes ago, she was still not well in her head. They couldn't just start drilling her for questions now. They'd probably just make things worse. Not to mention they all just couldn't stay there in that room with her until she was ready to talk.

"You want answers."

The ruby haired teen spoke again startling the four others into looking down at her again. She had her head down and her eyes directed at the floor and her tears dripping down at her boots.

"I can sense it." She muttered softly. "And I intend to give them to you as I promised. But….but I…"

"It's OK, Camilla."

Nejire went over and sat next to the weeping teen so she could put a friendly hand on her shoulder.

"You take as much time as you need. We're not gonna just abandon you. Right Miss Ryukyu?"

"Absolutely."

Ryukyu smiled proud of her intern's actions and gentle tone. She truly was going to be a kind hearted hero.

"This room for now is yours. Rest, do what you must to recover. We won't be far if you need us."

Tsukauchi and Mirko both raised a hand to protest but neither of them could get a word in before Ryukyu ushered them all out the door. Mirko complied with a huff but made sure she left the girl's duffel bag by her feet. Before she left, Nejire felt the need to just give the girl a hug. So she did. Not a very tight one but a soft one with both of her arms around her body. A few a few moments, she parted and walked out the door with her mentor and the others, leaving Camilla alone.

With only herself and her droid in this room, Camilla's thoughts began to run on overdrive again repeating a lot of what she already knew. According to her master's message, he was now gone. And thanks to Master Obi-Wan's message, all of her people and the society she swore to fight for were gone too. For all she knew, herself, her droid, that bag full of holocrons, and her trashed fighter were all that remained of the Jedi Order. So many different words came to mind when she tried to pinpoint exactly what her situation was. But one of them stuck out more than any other.

Lost.

She buried her face into her hands and breathed another sigh out of many that were yet to come. She could feel the moisture on her palms from her eyes and did her best to wipe them clean but it mattered not. Fresh tears were still dripping out of her.

"Boooooooop…."

That low tone from her droid made her remember that he was even there. Reaching out once more with her power, she found where she was and closed the gap between them. Even though the small robot had no arms, it didn't stop Camilla from putting her own around him and embracing him in a tight, scared hug.

"Oh R3…where do we go from here?"

The astro droid had no answer as he stood there, unsure himself of how he could possibly help his master out of this.

Outside the door to the room, there was another discussion happening between the three licensed heroes, and the present detective.

"What the hell was that? 'We won' be far if you need us?' Ryukyu as much as I wanna see the kid alright I didn't plan on sticking around her all day waiting for that to happen."

Mirko's opinion was shared by Tsukauchi. Both of them had jobs to do and they wouldn't be able to do them, at least not well, if they remained there at Ryukyu's agency waiting for when Camilla decided she was ready to talk. That could take hours if not days. However, Ryukyu saw that coming.

"I'm not suggesting you do." She said to them. "I'm sure there are places the both of you need to be right now. The chief is probably wondering where you are, Detective."

She wasn't wrong about that. Glancing down at his phone, Tsukauchi saw that he had a few notifications about a couple missed calls and some text messages, all from Chief Tsuragamae. He knew a long conversation was coming about this matter but he wasn't certain which facts should be glossed over and which should not be told at all.

"Nejire-Chan and I will remain here for the day to keep an eye on Camilla."

Nejire smiled at her mentor's words, liking that idea. Camilla was a girl who right now was in need of hugs and a friendly ear. She had plenty of that in her ready to help.

Both the rabbit hero and Tsukauchi could agree to that plan. While they couldn't stay, Ryukyu was more than capable of doing so. She was the number nine ranked hero but who's to say any hero couldn't be caught up in office work from time to time? This certainly qualified as such and was a somewhat truthful alibi to give the media if they got nosey. Or rather when they got nosey.

"Just make sure she doesn't bail out the window again." Mirko commented in a joking manner.

The crack earned Mirko a small chuckle from her friend as she walked over to a nearby window to do just that. Right as she opened it, she turned back to the dragoon hero.

"But the moment she talks, you better call me. I'm too invested in this crap now."

"The same goes for me." Tsukauchi added on. "I have to report back to the precinct and give the chief something of an explanation. But don't worry. Anything involving Miss Sharro I'll be sure to keep to a minimum. Right now, the specific details about her only need to be known by us."

Ryukyu was glad he understood that as was Mirko. Nejire too agreed to not tell a soul. With all that said and done, Mirko hopped out the window and the owner of the building escorted the detective out of it with her intern by her side. All they could do now was wait for the girl upstairs to consider herself ready to speak.

Hours passed by until the sun began to begin its arch downward to the horizon. As the clock ticked on, Nejire and Ryukyu did their best to continue their work around the office as if it were just another day. Though their thoughts continuously kept on going back to the girl. Ryukyu had always had an affinity for children. They were the ones that would inherit the world when her time was long done with. So she made it a point to help nurture them and guide them whenever she could as a pro hero. That was one of the biggest parts she enjoyed about the job. Being an inspiration for future pros always warmed her heart and she never tired of hearing from hero course students how she was their inspiration for wanting to become a hero. That's why she always kept a close eye on the U.A. sports festival every year. She was always eager to see the new talent coming from the most prestigious hero school in the country and take them on as interns and work study students.

Nejire had caught her eye this year. Ryukyu remembered her from the year prior. She noted she had an amazing quirk but unfortunately she was eliminated in the first round so she didn't have the chance to shine as much as others. The winner of that year she did send an offer to, but he ended up going to work with Fatgum. Amajiki or something was his name according to Nejire. She was actually good friends with him now along with that other boy, Togata. He was over with Sir Nighteye now which was a shock of its own. Nighteye was never known to take on students unless he saw some serious potential in them. After the show Nejire had put on at this year's festival, she was in good company. She made quite the comeback in the first two events and even managed to get into the semi final match of the combat tournament. Ultimately she lost to none other than Togata but her vast improvements made Ryukyu send the girl an offer. She couldn't be more pleased that she accepted it.

She glanced over to her intern, still dressed in her hero costume and smiled as she watched her sort through a few case reports. Nejire seemed to be hard at work and she truthfully was. But not because she was intent on getting work done. She was hoping to distract herself. That effort turned out to be all for naught as she kept glancing up to the ceiling. She had known the layout of this building for a while now so she knew exactly where Camilla's room was when she was looking up. From the moment she learned about the girl Nejire wanted nothing more than to get to know her. She loved making new friends and learning new things. That's why she always asked so many questions. She wanted to know people. Because to her, isn't knowing the people a big part of being hero? Shouldn't you know who it is you're trying to save? That's always the mindset she had even before she started at U.A. High. Her time there only reinforced that mindset.

This matter however required a different approach that she wasn't familiar with. At first it seemed like it would be a simple matter when they brought Camilla to her ship and met R3. Then the droid had to play that message from her master, sending the poor blind girl into a state of concern. Then that floating cube played the other message from that Kenobi guy. And THAT rendered Camilla incapable of rational thought, or any thought really other than negativity. She was a bit more calm now sure but she still wasn't approachable. At least not fully. She knew she had to give her time but it killed her to think that for the moment there was nothing she could do. She thought maybe if Togata were here he'd be able to help. After all he did love to crack a few jokes. His quirk was good for that even if he did slip out of his clothes every now and again. But that probably wouldn't be much of a problem for a blind girl. Or at least…a partially blind girl.

The blue haired girl sighed as she straightened the papers and laid them out in a bin on the desk. Across the way, her mentor let out a smaller one of her own. She knew Nejire wanted to help Camilla and wanted her to do so. But they needed to go slow here. As she thought on, a gurgling noise caught her attention and Nejire was seen to be blushing.

"Hungry, Nejire?" Ryukyu giggled.

The teen sheepishly giggled back as she rubbed a hand over the back of her head.

"I didn't have that big a breakfast. I was in a rush to get to you this morning."

That's when an idea hit the back of Ryukyu's head. It wasn't big, but it was something.

"Nejire, I don't think Camilla's eaten anything for a while."

Nejire's head perked up at that. She was right. Camilla was found in her ship last night and brought straight to the hospital unconscious. When she woke up, she hadn't had a single thing to eat. No breakfast or lunch. And who knows how long before that she had gone without a meal?

"Do you want me to take her some food?" Nejire sounded excited at the idea.

"I do. But first, I want you to change out of your hero costume. I think it would be better if you went in as Nejire Hado. Not Nejire-Chan."

The chair slid back and Nejire was up and out of it in less than a second rushing to the elevator. She kept spare clothes here in her own room next to Camilla's. In fact, she also wondered if she would like a change of clothes too. After all that cloak of hers and her baggy monk-like garb had to be filthy from what they've been through recently. She would ask about it later. A couple of minutes later, Nejire stepped out of her room wearing a plain light green t-shirt that showed off her midriff and some blue pants that stopped in the middle of her shins. She was going barefoot but had on some pink slippers. Her hair no longer had her spiral horns coming off the top of her head.

When she was dressed, she went back down to the kitchen to see what they had lying around to cook. As she peeked around the shelves, she began to wonder what Camilla would like. After all she wasn't even from this planet so she didn't know what they ate. Something good had to be her first Earth dish. Nejire wouldn't settle for anything less. But that all depended on what they had ready to cook. She found something simple and could taste really good if cooked right. Udon noodles. With a smile, she picked the packet out of the pantry and opened it up along with some beef from the fridge.

A matter of minutes later and Nejire had two piping hot bowls of beef udon set on a tray with a couple sets of chopsticks lying next to them ready to go. Next to them were two nearly full glasses of water. She then stepped out of the kitchen ready to head up to the next floor.

"You might want to consider a fork for her." Ryukyu suggested.

Mentally slapping her forehead, Nejire nodded and pulled a clean silver fork out from a nearby drawer. She set it next to one of the bowls and then started her way up. When she was at the door, she tapped the door with her slipper clad foot seeing as how her hands were holding food.

"Camilla? It's Nejire. Can I come in?"

No response came from the girl. Her toe tapped the door again.

"I have some food. You have to be hungry."

Again no words were heard. Growing concerned that Camilla in fact did bail again, Nejire put her hear to the door. To her relief, she could hear noise from inside. Good. She was still here. The blue haired girl carefully balanced the tray on one hand and used the other to turn the doorknob. She nudged the door open slightly and peeked inside to see Camilla lying on the bed and a blue light illuminating the room. Opening the door all the way, she saw the light was coming from the holocron that played the grave message from before. R3 was sitting at the foot of the bed with his eye on the cube as well.

"-our future is uncertain. We will each be challenged. Our trust. Our faith. Our friendships. But we must persevere. And in time, a new hope will emerge. May the Force be with you, always."

The image of Master Kenobi became fuzzy and distorted before it just began playing again from the beginning.

"This is Master Obi Wan Kenobi. I regret to report that both our Jedi Order and the Republic, have fallen with a dark-"

"Camilla?"

Both R3 and the alien teen looked to Nejire as she made herself known. Camilla held her hand out to the holocron and the recording stopped immediately. The corners of the cube returned to place and the holocron floated back to Camilla's hand.

"Have you just been playing that over and over?" Nejire asked with a worried tone.

Camilla didn't answer. She didn't need to anyway. Nejire knew she was. She also knew doing that was just going to make the poor girl feel worse. She had to help her and she had to do it now.

"I know you're upset. But you can't let yourself starve because of that. Come on and sit up. I made some yummy food for you."

The phrase "I'm not hungry." was what Camilla wanted to say the moment Nejire stopped talking. But her stomach had other ideas. A gurgling noise even louder than the ones Nejire's own was giving off filled the room. Even R3 knew his master was hungry. Sighing in defeat, the ruby haired girl sat up as asked and set the holocron down next to her.

Her smile a bit bigger, Nejire walked in fully and set the tray down on a coffee table in the center. She made sure to avoid everything Camilla had placed on it. Her belt was taken off along with her tools and the weapon she used earlier. Her cloak was also hanging on the back of a nearby chair and her boots were set aside together next to the chair. Also she saw in wastebasket was the bandage that was around her head since the hospital. She had taken it off. Looking over to her head to see where the wound was, she found it was no longer there, save for a splotch of blue colored goop in between a few strands of her hair.

Sitting down on her knees, Nejire took one of the bowls into her hands and held it out for Camilla to take. The girl seemed to know where it was because she had no problem reaching for it and taking it into her hands. Right after she did, Nejire placed the fork into her bowl to go with it. As the young alien pulled it closer, she took in a breath with her nose to smell what was in it.

"What is this?" She asked.

"It's called beef udon." Nejire answered. "I promise it's really good. Unless you have food allergies."

Immediately the high school student began to panic.

"Wait you don't do you?! Peanuts?! Milk?! Nuts?!"

"No, Miss Nejire." Camilla was quick to silence her with a hand held up. "I haven't eaten anything yet like that."

Nejire relaxed as she watched Camilla take the fork into her hand and scoop out a good portion of noodles. Slowly and with a bit of hesitation, she put the contents into her mouth and slurped the noodles in all the way. She let the food sit on her tongue for a bit, analyzing it with her taste buds before swallowing.

"It's good." She honestly answered.

That made Nejire smile again watching Camilla eat her first Earth meal. She then took the chopsticks into her hands and began to eat her own bowl. As they continued to eat, Nejire was trying to think of anything that could be considered an ice breaker. She was usually good at starting a conversation but right now she had to be careful to not step on any eggshells lest she risk upsetting her again. Then again, she was already upset. Getting her more upset was more accurate here. What was she supposed to talk about? Boys? No. Clothes? Not a good choice. Power? No that was for later. What else was left?

"I like your hair."

It was the tiniest detail Nejire could think to talk about that wouldn't cause problems. The girl's hair color was in her opinion quite a pretty one. Thanks to quirks, abnormal hair colors were very common nowadays. Her shade of red was seen a bit too but it was the best thing she could think to bring up.

"….thank you."

It was something. Nejire felt as if she had to keep going.

"And your braid is cute too."

When she said that, Camilla let go of her fork and raised her hand to her head. Her fingers pinched the small braid of her hair and she pulled it out, letting it fall out in front of her shoulder. In length, it was a few inches longer than the rest of her hair, reaching halfway down her chest. Nejire figured it was some kind of cultural thing.

"It's my Padawan braid." Camilla replied solemnly.

"Padawan?" Nejire wondered. "Is that the name of your race?"

"No." The blind girl muttered. "Padawan is merely my title."

Another sigh came through her teeth as she reached back down to fiddle with her fork and play with the food in the bowl. She didn't want to go into full detail yet, not with only one person here and then have to explain it again later.

"Are Miss Ryukyu and the other two still here?"

Nejire answered her hoping she was going where she thought she was going.

"No. Only Miss Ryukyu is here. Mirko and Detective Tsukauchi had to leave."

Nejire could see the gears in Camilla's head turn as she thought hard about what to do here. She only hoped what she came back with wasn't going to lead into another standoff or another leap out the window. But as she swallowed another bite of food, she looked back at Nejire with her face as flat as paper.

"When you go back down, tell Miss Ryukyu I'm ready to explain myself."

Finally. She was going to talk. This was good. This was very good. Nejire's smile was so wide at this point it looked like her whole face was going to split in half.

"I'll let her know."

Camilla nodded her thanks and continued to eat, maybe a tad faster than she originally meant to which only gave off the signal that she indeed was hungry. Between every few bites or so she would take a sip of water to wash it down until eventually, the bowl and her glass were empty.

"Do you want another bowl?" Nejire asked, feeling she may not be full yet.

"No thank you." Was Camilla's response. "But it was very good. Thank you."

The compliment warmed Nejire's heart as she stood up and took the empty bowls and glasses out of the room with assurances that she'll be back in a few minutes. One trek down to the first floor later and she was in the kitchen again, placing the dirty dishes into the sink and soaking them. When that was done, she went to find her mentor who was at her desk looking over a few more papers.

"She's ready."

That comment from the teen was enough to get Ryukyu to look up.

"What?"

"Camilla. She says she's ready to talk."

Just like that the paper was set down to be looked at later and Ryukyu stood up to push her chair into her desk. She had been waiting for this since she pulled Camilla out of her ship last night. Finally it was time. She opened a drawer in her desk and took out a small notepad and a pen. Chances are she's gonna need it. Ushering her student along with her, Ryukyu headed to the elevator more than ready to hear what this girl has to say about where she comes from and how she can do what she does. When they reached the door, the dragoon hero rapped her knuckles to the wood twice. Instead of a "Come in." the doorknob turned on its own and slowly swung open. Camilla was still over on the bed, sitting exactly where she was when Nejire left. She had her left arm outstretched to the door and her hand seemed to be following its movement.

As Nejire and Ryukyu came inside, Camilla swung her arm again only the opposite direction. The door moved with her hand and clicked shut. Nejire sat down on her knees again while Ryukyu took the chair which had the old cloak hanging from the back. It was just the three of them now along with R3.

"So…where should I begin?" Camilla asked.

It was a fair question. After all there was so much to go over.

"Let's start with something simple." Ryukyu answered. "Where do you come from?"

Camilla recalled answering that question earlier at the hospital when Tsukauchi asked it. Though when she did then it was only a minimal response. She wasn't sure what all she should tell and she wasn't sure where she was. She still had no idea in the galaxy where she was but these two she could sense they were trustworthy. Their emotions carried no mal-intent. Mostly they were worried and curious. Both of those were directed towards her. So now was the time to be honest and detailed.

"My older brother Cayden and I were born on a planet called Corellia."

And here we go. The new information was already coming and Ryukyu was already writing. A planet's name and she has or had a brother.

"Corellia." Nejire repeated. "Is it nice there?"

"I have no idea." Camilla replied. "I was taken from there when I was two."

Taken. That wasn't a word that struck a good note with either of the two listening to the story. Sensing their unease, Camilla elaborated further.

"My master told me what happened when I was older. For a while I guess my family was fine and happy but one day, we were out for a walk, and we wound up in the crossfire between a couple gangs. We tried to flee but my mother and father were killed trying to do so. My brother picked me up and we hid until the fighting finally stopped. When we peeked out, we were found by two Jedi Knights. It was they who intervened and ended the fight."

Ryukyu was writing down notes in a frenzy trying to keep up. Gang fights, only two years old, mother and father killed, and then we came to a word that had been repeated a few times. The Jedi.

"Camilla, please tell us. What is a Jedi?"

There was a short pause before the ruby haired girl let loose a sigh and adjusted herself on the bed so she was now sitting cross legged. Her left arm rose up and her fingers flicked. Neither Ryukyu nor Nejire knew what she was doing until the lights in the room turned off. There were no windows so it was no pitch dark.

"R3, bring up the star chart."

Two seconds later, the room was filled with a soft blue light as the projector on the front of R3's face started shining again. His body was tilted up a bit and the image he was showing now was a completely different one than the message he had played hours earlier. Ryukyu and Nejire were both in awe as the droid was showing them what appeared to be a map of a galaxy that was certainly not their own. As they looked on, Camilla continued talking.

"I'm not sure how many planets in your galaxy are capable of sustaining life. But in the one I come from, there are several hundred if not thousands. Corellia, Corsucant, Tatooine, Alderaan, Kashyyyk, the list goes on and on. The majority of these star systems for over a thousand generations were joined in union to form what we called the Galactic Republic."

The image being projected changed from the map of the galaxy to a symbol that looked like a sprocket with long teeth. Ryukyu and Nejire both recognized this as the symbol that was emblazoned on the wing of Camilla's fighter.

"With such a widespread territory, the Republic relied on a band of mystical warriors with power beyond understanding. These warriors became famously known throughout the galaxy as the Jedi Order."

The image R3 was projected shifted again to a different emblem. This one looked like two wings spreading into a crescent circle with something resembling a sword protruding up the middle of it. Both heroes were listening intently as the girl before them kept explaining.

"The Jedi Order was tasked with keeping peace throughout the galaxy, only intervening in an affair when it was deemed necessary to do so. For thousands of years the Jedi were the guardians of peace and justice in the Republic."

Nejire and Ryukyu couldn't help but draw similarities between these Jedi and the modern day hero society they were accustomed to. Guardians of peace and justice were what most pro heroes strived to be today. And then there was the muscular symbol of that peace himself. By explanation alone, the Jedi weren't far off from them save for the scale on which they operated.

"But with every peace comes enemies who wish to see it fall or be subjugated."

The tone shift in her voice was clearly evident by both heroes.

"The longtime enemy of the Jedi waged war with them for a very long time before slinking into the shadows. That enemy being the Sith."

R3 turned off his hologram projector and with another flick of her fingers, the room's lights turned back on while Camilla kept talking.

"As opposed to the Jedi who used their power to defend and protect, the Sith adhered to a philosophy of power through the dark side of the Force."

"You've said that before. The Force." Ryukyu commented. "Do you mean your power?"

Camilla nodded, finally getting to something that both the dragoon hero and Nejire had wanted to hear about since seeing her first use it on Mirko.

"It is the Force that gives me and every other Jedi their power." She started. "It is field of energy created by all things living, non living, and dead. It is unable to be seen but as certain as the air you currently breathe exists, I can assure you it's there as well. This energy surrounds us, penetrates us, and binds the galaxy together."

She could tell by that brief snippet of information alone, Ryukyu and Nejire were listening intently on how the Force worked. She brought up her right hand this time and held it forward. In front of them, the two heroes watched as the red metal weapon jiggled a moment and then jumped off the table before them and stopped in mid air in front of Camilla's palm. Turning her hand caused the thing to twist with her in a slow steady motion.

"Those born sensitive to the Force like myself are most normally trained in the ways of the Jedi. We learn how to use it in many ways that grant us a wide variety of abilities. Moving things like such is one such ability. And in my case, it is what enables me to have a form of vision despite my nonworking eyes."

That concept felt like some sort of fairy tale to both the present pro hero and her blue headed intern. Having power but not having a quirk? It sounded almost too insane to be true. Yet here this girl was in front of them proudly showing off her abilities with this Force. The telekinesis, the unexplainable sight, the jumping, and the reflexes she showed when blocking those bullets, it all led to the same conclusion. Camilla was telling the truth.

That last power they recalled made them look down to the table where the other piece of metal sat next to her tools and belt. They saw them use the red metallic one in the street but the other one she didn't touch.

"Are these the Force too?" Nejire asked as she slowly ran her fingers over the metal.

Camilla chuckled softly at the question and pulled her weapon the rest of the way into her hand grasping her fingers around it.

"Point the open end up to the ceiling then press the button. Just make sure you hold on tight and whatever you do, do not touch it."

Nejire's head tilted in confusion at the request. Turning to Ryukyu, she saw that the pro too was a bit confused but shrugged and urged her to go ahead with it. She was hesitant to pick it up but slowly her fingers wrapped around the metal object and she held it with both of her hands. Slowly she put her thumb over the button and gave herself a mental countdown from three before she pressed it. The moment she did-

*PSSSSHHHHHEEEWWW!*

Igniting from the top, a bright blue glowing blade hummed to life very similar to the one Camilla had used earlier. The only differences were the designs and the color. Nejire could feel something very powerful inside the metal of whatever this thing was. The blade itself she was entranced with and she assumed that was what Camilla told her not to touch. Ryukyu from behind was also looking at the weapon much closer now wanting to see for herself just what it was. A moment later she got up and sat on her knees next to her intern wanting to get as close as possible.

"What is it?" Ryukyu asked in a whisper.

"It's my master's lightsaber." Camilla answered. "The weapon of a Jedi."

*PSSSSHHHHHEEEWWW!*

The two heroes snapped their heads back to the girl when they heard her turn on the other one and let the green blade hum alongside the blue one.

"And this one here is mine." She said as she fondly ran her fingers over the hilt of her sword. "The Jedi were not one to use firearms save for the ones on our ships. Whenever we went into combat, we relied on our skills with these sabers and our skills and swordsmen. Using those skills in tandem with our Force abilities made the Jedi grow a powerful reputation."

Slowly to make sure nothing got hit with the blade, Nejire passed the hilt of the weapon over to Ryukyu. She gently took it into her gloved hand and held the lightsaber soft but firm to not drop it. She had no idea how powerful that glowing blue blade was but she assumed it was immensely so if bullets couldn't even damage it.

"It's so…..elegant." Ryukyu complimented the weapon.

"They are elegant weapons. For a more civilized age." Camilla commented.

She pressed the button on the hilt of her saber again and the green blade retracted back into the hilt. Ryukyu did the same to see if it would work on the one she held and it did. The blue blade of the lightsaber shrank down into the handle until it was unseen and the humming noise vanished. Satisfied but still very interested in the weapons, Ryukyu placed it back down alongside Camilla's other gear.

"Knight…" Nejire muttered remembering the word being spoke earlier. "You said you were rescued by two Jedi Knights. Is that what you are now? A knight?"

Camilla shook her head looking upset again.

"No….but boy did I wanna be one."

She was about to digress so the Jedi got back on track by tracking back.

"You see, that day on Corellia when my parents were killed, those two Jedi who stopped the fighting weren't on the planet by coincidence. They had come there to take me and my brother to the main Jedi temple. When a Force sensitive child is born, their birth is sensed and a Jedi or two is sent out to confirm that the child is indeed a Force sensitive. If it is, then more often than not, the child or children are taken from their families to stay to learn the ways of the Force by being initiated into the Jedi Order. Of course whether or not the child goes with them is entirely up to the parents but for me and my brother, the choice was made for us. The Jedi rescued us from a life of homelessness and we accepted it."

No solid opinion was formed for either hero listening to Camilla's story but a lot of it seemed so advanced but at the same time so….archaic. Taking children from their families to join an order of mystical knights? Special powers only a limited few were born with? So much of that sounded like something that happened back in the days of old, older than the technological era that existed before quirks appeared. Ryukyu nor Nejire knew what to make of this. All they knew was they had to let Camilla go on.

"When my brother and I were initiated, we learned the basics of the Force together. Learning to sense emotions or the presence of other people whether they were close or far away was one of our first lessons. Then came basic lightsaber training. But with me there had to be some more special lessons that were exclusive for me."

"Because of your eyes?" Ryukyu assumed.

Her answer was a nod from the girl in front of her.

"I was down one sense on every other youngling in the temple with me. So no one thought I was going to make it as a Jedi save for my brother. He always stuck up for me when they would tease me about my eyes. In a few ways I guess all societies are the same. Not all but some people tend to look down on someone when they aren't born with something that everyone else around them is born with."

Nejire and Ryukyu could sadly both attest to this. Quirks were a wonderful thing but the population that had them still only reached eighty percent. Not a full one hundred. Racism and ageism had been completely replaced with a new form of prejudice; quirkism. Those who were sadly born quirkless in this world were often shunned or mocked by others over something they had no control over. The dragoon hero had remembered plenty of fights she had broken up over the years because some punk tried to flaunt his power in front of a poor person who was unlucky enough to not have one. It made her sick. The worth of one's self should never be defined by the power you're born with. It's defined by how you conduct yourself in your time on this planet. So many people just sadly didn't get that.

Now here sat Camilla. A girl who apparently had undergone the same type of treatment as a child, only over her clearly sightless eyes and not a lack of power.

"When my normal training lessons for the day were done, I would be given private lessons with grandmaster Yoda; the wisest Jedi Master of them all. It took some time for me to harness this ability that he taught me. And quite a few outbursts of frustration with it. But eventually, I was able to tap into the Force in a way no other youngling around me could. I could use it to see. Not perfectly mind you. As you saw earlier at the warehouse this ability works to a limited degree."

They could attest to that yes. Seeing her reluctantly accept help like that gave off the impression that she tried hard to not seem helpless even when she did need help. Before she got into the next part of her story, Camilla tossed her lightsaber up and let it float above her hand again using the Force.

"The years went by and my skills grew in both saber technique and my Force abilities. When I finally constructed this little beauty that was all the affirmation I needed to know I could stand on the same level as my fellow younglings. It felt so satisfying to take their expectations of me and stomp all over them. Then a couple months afterward, I was taken on as Master Larek Morlev's Padawan apprentice."

Nejire perked up at the mention of another familiar word.

"You said that's what your rank was now. A Padawan."

Camilla nodded to her.

"There are four majorly known ranks in the Jedi Order. First you start as a youngling as I once did, then if you gain the attention of a knight who wants to take you on, you are promoted to Padawan. Once that is done, you are marked with a symbol of this rank until such a time as you are promoted to the next. Like this."

She set her lightsaber down next to her leg then put her hand through her hair, showing off the small braid going down the front of her chest.

"If I were to ever be promoted to the level of Jedi Knight, then it would be removed. And from there, the final rank to achieve is Master. Something all Jedi aspire to be one day. A member of the elite Jedi who reside on the Jedi Council and help keep peace throughout the galaxy."

She smiled as she looked back fondly of her upbringing but then frowned again. Ryukyu and Nejire both grew concerned this story was about to take a left turn.

"What happened to that peace?" Ryukyu cautiously asked.

Camilla looked her way and uttered only one word.

"War."

And that word had Nejire and her mentor even more hooked then before. Was this girl about to say she fought in a full scale war? And…..and the things most people who fight a war do?

"…..war?"

Nejire almost couldn't say it. But Camilla's next nod confirmed their fears.

"Three years ago, the Clone Wars began and raged across the galaxy, jeopardizing the peace we once held. The Jedi were called in to lead the Grand Army of the Republic in multiple engagements across dozens of planets. My master held off on bringing me in combat for as long as he could but I got my first taste of it when I was twelve. I….."

The girl paused in her speech as some memories of the fights she endured during these wars began to flash in her head again. The screams of her clones, the raging gunfire of the battle droids, and the clash of her lightsaber deflect laser blast after laser blast. And of course the other part of war, the casualties she both suffered and inflicted.

Ryukyu took one look at her face. That expression she wore was not one a girl of her age should have any business wearing. That was the look of a soldier. A soldier who had taken lives before.

"No….no this can't be right….she's….she's only a child now. Why would a child be brought into a full scale war knowing full well what's in front of them? Why would her master do this?

"Camilla…how old are you?"

The Padawan didn't know why she was being asked that but she answered regardless.

"I just turned fourteen a couple months ago."

She was still a year off from high school age! And she was a soldier in a full scale intergalactic war?! Ryukyu did her best and succeeded in keeping her emotions under control and then had to ask the big question. The question she knew was coming since seeing those messages earlier.

"What happened to the Jedi?"

Any sort of positivity Camilla had left in her seemed to drain out through her feet the moment that question processed through her ears. She looked back to her bag that held her holocrons inside, thinking about a certain one with a certain message.

"I don't know." She answered honestly. "I truly don't know. If what Master Obi Wan said is true then the Order I am devoted to no longer exists. Nor does the Republic. I…..I just don't understand how this happened. One moment I was on the planet Sullust trying to defend a republic outpost from enemy forces. My master and I split up trying to protect two different entry points. Then right out of nowhere our troops turned on me and tried to gun me down. I didn't understand it then and I still don't know. We all fought alongside together for so long. I don't know what made them think I was their enemy."

Shaking her head and not noticing a couple small tears were flicked away, she got back on track again.

"I ran and ran trying to find Master Larek but instead I ran into R3 who told me to run. And we did. We got into our fighter and headed for our hyperdrive rings waiting for us in orbit."

A ring? Like the one that almost hit Ryukyu last night? The dragoon hero made another note to call Selkie or the coast guard to see if that was ever recovered.

"We were moments away from jumping but…I got hit by a laser blast in my fighter's engine before we did and it knocked us off course. It also caused me to hit my head and go out cold in my cockpit. We jumped into hypserspace going in a direction unknown to us. I'm just thankful the engines attached to my fighter aren't necessary when using the ones on the ring. But….the next thing I knew, I came to still in hyperspace. When I pulled us out and tried to fly the fighter, where do we crash land…but here?"

The rest was not needed to tell. They lived it just today. It was an abridged version of the story and Ryukyu and Nejire both knew that was alright. A lot of the bigger details seemed to be elaborated on with as much detail as Camilla was capable of using right now. Looking down at her notepad, Ryukyu saw that she had taken a hefty amount of notes as the young Jedi spoke about her galaxy and her upbringing thus far. It was all so much. Knowledge of life among the stars was something Earth had been skeptical about for eons. And now the proof of it was right here, in the form of a teenage girl with some mystical power.

As amazing as it all was, Ryukyu was quick to go back to her original worries about the girl. Powerful as she was, even with blind eyes, she could tell she was still upset over these new revelations about her people today. She placed a hand on Nejire's shoulder and beckoned her to stand up with her.

"Thank you for speaking with us, Camilla." Ryukyu bowed her head to the girl. "Maybe you should take some time to rest. After all you still were in a bad crash last night."

The Padawan shrugged thinking of nothing else that was better to do at the moment anyway. As the two heroes left the room, Camilla shrugged again and brought up her legs to cross them in her seat. Placing her hands on her knees, she took a breath through her nose and let it out through her mouth, focusing herself in a calm state.

"Master always did say meditation helped light the path."

No words. Neither Nejire nor Ryukyu had any words to even begin to describe what they just heard in there. Doctor Aoki was right. She WAS quirkless. Her power just wasn't the work of a quirk. It was something called the Force which was apparently everywhere just unseen. She wasn't just a kid she was a skilled swordsman with two brightly glowing and colored lightsabers that look and feel powerful enough to make their wielders be a big challenge. And this war…..this clone war…they dragged kids into it? None of them knew anything about these Jedi and granted maybe they weren't ones to talk seeing as how U.A.'s hero course can get sometimes. But those are sanctioned battles and classes most of the time. Even the internships and work studies don't normally see a lot of life threatening action.

Nejire went to her room to sit and think on things while Ryukyu headed to her office. Once she got there, she picked up her phone and immediately dialed Mirko's number. She was going to call Tsukauchi too to tell them both the updates and bullet points of Camilla's explanation. Once she did that there was only one thing Ryukyu could think to do.

And that was to help make Earth Camilla's new home.
