Shock. Outrage. Disbelief. The news of Agatha's death traveled fast and hit the denizens of the Emerald City and the Quadling Country hard. Many of its inhabitants had gathered in their respective town squares gossiping amongst themselves and sought answers for her sudden death. How did she die? Was it from natural causes? Was she murdered? They demanded to know what happened, but information was patchy and incomplete.
Almost immediately, Ozians began to spread the news that Agatha was ambushed and killed by the Wicked Witch of the West in Winkie Country.
However, in the next hour or so, the news began to change as more information started to come in. Some reliable sources began to circulate that the Wizard himself had killed Agatha. This created extra confusion among its populace. What was the Wizard even doing in the Winkie Country? They began to seek out Glinda for her to clarify what happened. But as the hours passed, Glinda was nowhere to be seen or heard.
As the news first broke, Glinda was in fact at the Emerald City attending to the Wizard's usual duties. She was sequestered away in the throne room as a small group of Ozians were presenting various issues for her to solve. She didn't even know that thousands of Ozians had gathered in the town square of the Emerald City until two of her captains, immediate subordinates of Agatha, barged into the throne room.
"Glinda! Glinda! It is urgent!" The two female captains were out of breath and exhausted, having run all the way from the Winkie Country.
Glinda turned to her small Ozian audience. "Leave us", she calmly said with a smile on her face. When the last Emerald City citizen left, Glinda turned to her two captains. Her expression immediately turned serious.
One of her female captains spoke first. "Agatha…she…she's dead! She was murdered in the Winkie Country!"
Glinda began to think of the unthinkable. Was it really possible? Did Theodora make her first kill? Did she really pass the point of no return?
"My sister…", Glinda whispered, not wanting to hear what the answer was.
But her other captain began to sob. "No! It wasn't her! It was….it was…"
Glinda's eyes scanned the room. Her lips began to part. "Get me Knuck", she quietly replied.
