Binding the Galaxy Together

Chapter 20 – U.A. Entrance Exam (Part 2: Practical Portion)

In reality, the bus rides from the main U.A. building to the battle areas took less than five minutes. But to the kids riding in those busses, it felt like much longer as the weight of what they were about to go through started feeling a lot heavier. Some tried talking to other students to try and calm their nerves. Others merely sat in silence trying to focus their minds on the task ahead. In the bus marked with a big letter F, Camilla was one of the latter. She sat in her seat in complete silence as her left hand found itself gently rubbing up and down the surface of the lightsaber that was once her master's. Even though she was confident in her skills and had Ryukyu, Mirko, and all her other friends backing her up with their support, the young Padawan still wished her master could also be here to support her like everyone else has.

When the bus came to a stop, everyone got off and looked upwards to see they were parked in front of a giant door. Camilla left her jacket on her seat on the bus and stood amongst the crowd now clad in only a white tank top and her sweat pants. The air was a bit chilly on her arms but that would be rendered moot in just a few seconds she assumed. As she stood there stretching her legs and arms to get loose, the Force allowed her to gauge the emotions of the other students in area F with her. Mostly they were all feeling the same things. Excitement, nervousness, twinges of fear, pretty much the same thing she was sensing in the auditorium just a few minutes ago. Only now it was turned up quite a bit now that they were at the testing site.

'Alright, Camilla. Just remember your own advice you gave to Izuku. One bot at a time then move onto the next. I can do that. I just hope he and Ochako can do the same.'

"I can do this. I can do this. I can do this. I can do this. I can do this. I can do this. I can do this. I can do this. I can do this. I can-"

*Smack!*

Rather than just say she wanted to kiss him again, Ochako opted to snap Izuku out of it this time with a light smack to his forehead. Realizing he was mumbling again, the green haired boy just laughed sheepishly while he rubbed the center of his forehead where Ochako's palm made contact.

"Sorry, Uraraka."

"Don't worry about, Deku. I'm nervous too." Ochako assured him with her signature bubbly smile.

Izuku couldn't help but let a smile stretch across his own face when she saw Ochako's take shape on hers. It always did help him calm down for the strangest reason. Though that calm feeling was taken away when he glanced back to the entrance of the battle area they would soon be walking into. Slowly Ochako turned to look up and down it too many times.

"Yeah…I'm nervous. But….you know. We got this. We totally got this. We're just looking at a door….a giant door that leads to a giant fake city filled to the brim with giant robots we have to fight."

The two of them suddenly felt glued to the ground for some unexplainable reason.

"But it's fine. It's fine. It's so totally fine." She was speaking in a whisper now. "I got my sword training and I've improved my quirk's weight limit, and you have One For All now. Camilla saw it herself. Now you just gotta use it on those bots and we're golden. Right?"

She received no immediate answer.

"Deku? Right?"

When she got no reply a second time, she turned her head to see why. Izuku was starting to sweat bullets down his forehead now. Why was he so nervous now? All Ochako did was tell him to use his new power against the bots and he's certain to pass. Why would something so simple make him so….

"Deku?"

When Izuku heard Ochako speak in less of a whisper, he slowly turned his head to look in her direction so slowly the brunette could swear his neck was creaking like an old door.

"Yes, Uraraka?" He whispered back.

"All Might did tell you how to use One For All. Tell me he told you how."

They were a fair distance away from anyone else so both of them were certain no one heard. Ochako did not like how long Izuku was taking to answer and how nervous the look on his face was. She didn't need even one brain cell to figure out why that was.

"You have no idea how to use it, do you?!" She whispered again into his ear.

On any other day, Izuku would have been madly blushing due to how close Ochako's mouth was to his face but the sheer nervousness of his current position prevented that thought from creeping into his mind.

"Not exactly. But he called me after we left the beach to give me a few more tips about it."

"That's it?! Just tips?! He didn't tell you the specifics?!"

"W-We were in a rush this morning! Remember? With the time and…and the hair and all the other stuff!"

Recalling that little visual made Ochako gag and turn away.

"Ew, don't remind me about the hair. That image will stay locked in my brain for all eternity." She sadly declared before getting back on track. "Alright what tips did he give you?"

"Well…"

Suddenly Izuku grew a bit red upon recalling the very words All Might told him when it came to using One For All. A part of him didn't want to repeat this to Ochako but that part was not his mouth.

"….h-he said….he said a good trigger for it is…..well….uh…clenching my butt cheeks."

In less than a second Ochako's own face was now even redder than Izuku's was as the imagery brought on from that statement punted the hair eating thing out of it. She had heard of powers needing triggers to properly work before. It wasn't an uncommon thing in the slightest. But…for One For All, essentially the quirk of quirks, the thing to do is…THAT?! It almost seemed too absurd to be a real thing. All Might had to be just playing a joke right? Not flexing or going as tense as possible in the arms or legs but in Izuku's….there?!

"BAD THOUGHTS!"

*SMACK!*

Izuku stifled a scream while he watched his friend throw one her palms across her own cheek.

"Wha…what's wrong with you, Uraraka?! Are you alright?! Why did you just-"

"Is this really behavior for up and coming heroes?"

Just when it seemed like it couldn't get any more stressful, here comes this guy. Izuku and Ochako both recognized the voice. Standing to the side of them was the same tall kid from the auditorium. Rather than his school blazer and tie, the blue haired boy was wearing a tight fitting blue and black running suit leaving his calves wide open. Izuku trailed down and noticed the tailpipes coming out of the back of his legs and grew intrigued for a moment before noticing his face again. It was a mixture of stern and annoyed just like before.

"Uhhh…huh?" Izuku had no idea what to say.

"I said before your muttering was a distraction, well now this loud whispering the two of you are doing is another one. Is this a plan between the two of you or something? Try to team up against us so you can help each other get into the school while the rest of us are fighting for ourselves? Because if so than for shame on the both of you. Are you seriously trying to disgrace this academy by not showing them what you can do on your own?"

Being put on the spot like that caused Izuku to stammer into his panic mode. He couldn't form words and was trying to wave the accusations off but failing horribly. The show of it was caught by a lot of the other kids around them who couldn't help but snicker at him. Of course seeing a person like that raised up their own confidence levels.

"Well I guess we can count him out."

"Yeah no kidding. If he can't even form words, how will be beat a measly robot?"

"It's nice knowing at least none of us will be in dead last."

If there wasn't a whole room full of UA staff and heroes with cameras on them right now, then hurling herself into a frenzied tirade at everyone for scaring Izuku more than he already was would most likely be a horrible plan. Ochako just couldn't believe it. We're these jerks really writing him off so easily? And all because the king jerk here in the glasses just had to make assumptions again! She may not be able to bring down the other kids, but this guy was right in front of her. More than ready, Ochako stepped between Izuku and this other guy and looked straight up to him.

"Listen, buddy. Neither I nor Deku are doing anything wrong. We're just talking. And who the heck even told you to listen to us? Once again you were the only one out of everyone to come and say something and you clearly didn't have to. If we really were as annoying as you claim us to be then you could have just as easily walked the other away until we were out of your earshot. And another thing, stop making assumptions about people you don't even know! That's rude!"

Once Ochako finished, both Izuku and this bespectacled kid were staring at the rosy cheeked girl with varying degrees of surprise. Izuku mostly because this was the second time today he was hearing Ochako talk like this to someone else and it was kind of…amazing. The girl he knew was a bubbly happy go lucky girl with pep in her step that made her kind of cute.

'Hold on. Did my thoughts just say she's cute?!'

The tall boy before them had different reasons for his surprise. In his mind he was just trying to stick up for the other applicants and make sure any who weren't taking this seriously were reprimanded. So when he heard these two whispering and possibly conspiring to work together, he made it a point to call them out on it. He did not expect such a strong reaction from this girl claiming the opposite. Recomposing himself, the boy decided to not say anything more and just walk away from the two leaving them alone.

"What a jerk." Ochako quietly commented.

Izuku did agree just not out loud.

"He does have a point though." He murmured catching her attention. "If you and I stay in the same place for most of this test, chances are that won't look too good for us."

Ochako didn't like it considering the situation Izuku was currently in as far as his power went, but she had to agree. The judges were gonna have their eyes on them at all times during this test. If they even thought for a moment the two of them were working together to try and help the other, it would do more harm than good.

"The moment it starts, you and I go in different directions and try to stay out of each other's way. Sound good?"

She held up a fist.

"Done."

The green haired teen lightly pounded his fist to hers.

"SOOOOOOO ARE ANY OF YA GONNA GET MOVIN?!"

Almost in perfect unison, every kid in the group looked up to see Present Mic in a nearby watch tower pointing down to them.

"Countdowns don't happen in a real battle, listeners! The clock is already ticking! Get going already!"

Every head snapped back to the gate. It was open. And Present Mic was giving them to go ahead. Almost immediately every kid forgot their thought patterns and booked it for the entrance to the city.

"May the Force be with us?" Izuku asked.

"Let's sure hope it is." Ochako agreed.

The two of them sprinted for the gate side by side. But when they came to the first intersection inside the city, Ochako broke off to the left to try and distance herself from Izuku for this test. Izuku was partially worried about her but pushed those thoughts out a moment later. She worked hard for this, so she could handle it. He had to trust that and worry about himself right now as he trailed the rest of the group further into the city.

In Area F, the group of candidates was diving head first into their own mock city already on the hunt for villain bots to rack up their scores. A few of the kids had branched off going in different directions but a small group still bunched together unintentionally as they ran down the first street leading into the city looking for their first kill. None of them had any idea as to how soon it would be before these faux villains made an appearance or how deep they had to go in. Two seconds later, one rounded the corner and made itself visible. A single two pointer was now in sight.

All at once every kid heading straight for it began to pick up speed wanting to be the first one to get their scores on the board. Some of them were already preparing to use their quirks from a distance to try and get a clear shot.

"Alright!" A boy with silver hair shouted as his skin became layered in a strong metal. "Let's get this started!"

*PSSSSHHHHEEEEW!*

No one had any time to look behind them to see what it was that caused that noise. A moment later, a loud humming was heard coming up from the rear and then directly up above their heads. A few of them caught sight of a girl wearing sunglasses jumping straight over them, somersaulting, and landing in front of them before bursting forth with speed none of them saw coming. As she neared the faux villain, her grip on that green glowing weapon in her hand tightened. When she was in ranged, she jumped forward again and gripped the hilt with two hands before giving it a powerful swing. The two pointer was chopped in half as easy as cutting paper. The robot fell to the asphalt in pieces and pathetically powered down as Camilla landed back on her feet and looked down the street.

More of them were starting to come out of hiding and roll down the street towards her and the rest of the kids taking the test.

"They really are just big battle droids. Not smart and easy to break."

Deciding to make this even more of a test than it was, she reached to her belt with her free hand and grabbed the hilt that once belonged to her master.

"I have no idea how much each one is worth point wise. So I'll just have to break as much as I can."

*PSSSSHHHHEEEEW!*

The blue blade ignited and hummed in tandem with Camilla's green one. Before the kids behind her could catch up to her, she crouched down and called upon her power again to run down the street in a burst of Force speed right for the robots. The first two in front of her were one pointers but she couldn't tell. She swung her green blade. One down. Then she jumped towards the second one and slashed down the blue blade. Two down. As she landed, she reached her right arm back to the robot she just destroyed and extended her index and pinky fingers. Even while holding her lightsabers, she could still grab things with the Force. That was a good trick her master taught her. The top half of the one point villain hovered in mid air while the three pointer in front of her approached. Turning back around, Camilla grit her teeth and with a powerful throwing motion of her arm, the broken one pointer was sent flying towards the three pointer. The two robots collided and the three pointer now shared its status with the two before it as inoperable as they crumpled to the street in pieces.

Camilla smiled at her handiwork and gripped her saber with all five fingers again before running off to break more.

Behind her, the rest of the kids just looked on stunned at how quickly those kills were performed. Some were complaining about how the girl "stole" them from themselves while others just broke off from the pack to try and find their own bots to take down. The boy with the metal body was one of the latter. He figured it would be best not to stay behind the crazy chick with the two glow sticks that could easily cut through metal. So better stay out of her way. Remembering they were on a time limit, the kids all began moving again to start getting their own scores on the board.

"That still was pretty awesome." A floating set of clothes said to pretty much anyone near her.

As the other examinees began to find their own path, Camilla continued to speed down her own hacking and slashing every robot that was unlucky enough to be in front of her. She didn't know how many points she would end up with, all she knew was the objective was to destroy these things. So she kept right on doing that. As she ran, jumped, and swung her lightsabers, she could feel the small metal charm hidden beneath her tank top swing tap against her chest. For a moment she faltered.

She knew every second she wore that necklace she went against the Jedi code. But she didn't care. The Jedi order wasn't here. All that was here now was her and a horde of robots ready to come apart by her blades. As she ran towards them, she let the Force flow through her body to induce her speed.

"Release!"

Three robots, two three pointers and one two pointer simultaneously plummeted to the ground around Ochako and broke easily into bits. As the pressure on her stomach slightly alleviated, the brunette wiped her brow and began to look around for more.

"Okay. That should bring me up to nineteen."

She ran down the street hearing some commotion in one direction and deciding to follow it. As she did, her mind kept going back to Izuku hoping he was doing alright by himself. Without fully knowing how to properly use One For All, he was essentially fighting quirkless in his fight. A part of her wanted to turn around and find some way to help him. But she knew if she did that it wouldn't really be help at all. She had to trust Izuku would find a way to beat this test on his own merits and abilities. And she did but she still had an icky feeling in her stomach as she thought of anyone going up against these things without a power. It really wasn't all that fair the more she thought about it.

'Oh, Deku. Why do you make me worry so much?'

She kept worrying as she sprinted down the road and tapped her fingers onto two more faux villains and tossed them straight up.

"Though I doubt I'll be seeing much of you. Au revoir!"

As the cocky sounding French guy strolled off to blast more robots with his belly laser thing, Izuku stared at the wrecked robot in front of him on the ground with a huge amount of worry on his face as he realized just where he was standing. Those kids back there weren't being jerks. They had him pegged. He really was at the bottom of the food chain here.

'Even with All Might's quirk in me, I'm practically still quirkless if I can't really use it!'

His mind trailed back to this morning when he was back at home getting ready to leave. He had received a call from his mentor to go over a few things in private. What he said still rang inside his head.

"While you are a proper vessel now, it doesn't change the fact that we made you one in a rush. And since we have to let the power fully form in your body there won't be any time for you to take it for a test drive. So be cautious today, Young Midoriya. While One For All is now your quirk, your inexperience with it could lead to unforeseen consequences. The physical repercussions could be extreme to a fresh user."

Izuku really wished he had asked what kind of consequences All Might was talking about before he hung up. Not that it mattered anyway. In the end it still meant to Izuku at least that he shouldn't use it unless he absolutely had to. But here he had to use it. The judges had their eyes on him right now wanting to see what he could do, what he could bring to the table as a hero in training. So far all he had shown them was that he was good at being some other kid's decoy while he posed and shot a laser out his stomach.

'I….I'm going to fail! If I can't even use my new power to destroy one stupid robot then what good am I?!'

The poor green haired boy could feel his heart begin to beat out of his chest. He slammed a hand to his chest to try and calm down and accidentally hit a little too hard because something under his shirt pressed into his skin. Looking down, he saw the fabric form a rectangle shape around the necklace he had on and hidden under his clothes. He fished for the chain around his neck and pulled the pendant out. The little shard of space metal from Camilla's ship with his name on it shone in the sunlight as his friend's words came back to him.

"Don't worry too much about the end result. Just go out there and concentrate on the moment. Take it one step at a time. Go after one robot then move onto the next."

A few more deep breaths later, and Izuku shoved the necklace back down his shirt and got back to his two feet as he looked around him. He let himself start worrying again. Camilla was right. He needed to be in the present. And right here in the present, the test wasn't over.

"The one and three pointers run on wheels and treads."

He walked over to the wreckage of the bot before him and found a sizeable piece of it with a sharp edge. He picked it up and held it like a police officer would hold a riot shield.

"It's worth a shot." He thought out loud before charging off.

Thanks to his new muscles, this piece of robot shrapnel was barely anything at all to carry. Ten months of hauling trash of that beach made this feel like a feather in comparison. Now all he had to do was find a villain bot and see if his theory would work.

"HUMAN SIGHTED."

His wish came true faster than he had anticipated but he couldn't hesitate now. As the robot ran straight for Izuku, the boy charged with determination as he readied that hunk of metal in his hands to swing. When he was close enough, he dodged out of the way of the robot when it swiped for him and managed to use the large shrapnel bit to slash the tire of the bot. Immediately the villain bot lost its balance and crumpled to the ground breaking apart with ease against the street.

When Izuku got up and turned back around, he kept his grip on the metal bit and looked down at the wreckage with surprise.

"Holy crap. It actually worked."

His gaze landed on his new toy again and a smile formed on his face.

"I got this. One at a time then onto the next!"

With a scream of effort, he charged onwards ready to take this test on with not just power, but skills too.

A good distance away in a different part of the U.A. facility, a large group of people were seated inside an observation room while multiple screens in front of them provided the room's only source of light. Principal Nezu, All Might in his weakened form, Midnight, and several other school staffers and judges were all viewing the many students taking the exam one at a time as the cameras cycled through them.

"In order to simulate a real battle the best we can, the children all go into these battle areas with no knowledge on where the villains are located in the mock cities and how many there are. This way they have to rely on not just their quirks but their other abilities in order to pull ahead of the others."

The screen flashed to a tall boy with multiple arms growing different body parts like eyes and ears out of the ends of them in order to see and hear everything around him.

"Some choose to scout the area and see where to go and avoid other examinees."

It changed again to the boy with glasses and the tailpipes in his calves smoking.

"Some use speed to get ahead of their opponents."

The image showed a blonde boy with a mechanical belt and a lens on the front shooting a sparkling laser at multiple targets.

"But let us not forget how important it can be to keep a level head in the middle of a battle."

Once more the screen flickered and another blond boy with smoke coming off his palms and a feral smile could be seen.

"The same can be said for raw power and combat prowess."

Nezu smiled as he gazed upon all of the students on screen.

"Those who are able to put all of these traits into practice at once are the ones who rack up the highest scores. It's what sets them apart from the others."

One more time, the screen changed to a different camera feed. This time it showed a girl with ruby hair, sunglasses, and two metal hilts in her hands attached to two colorful blades. She slashed through one two pointer in front of her, and then made a pushing motion with her left arm towards a one pointer. Some unseen force sent the robot flying down the street and impacted with another one pointer. They both broke on contact and the girl leapt over them to go find more.

"Well from first glance, it looks like this year's batch of student hopefuls is a good one." Midnight kept her eyes on the blind girl on screen, watching her tear apart these robots with ease.

Nezu nodded agreeing with Midnight before someone else in the room spoke up.

"They've showed they're good at taking down some overgrown toys. Impressive as that is, they have yet to show how they perform on the real test."

From a nearby dashboard of buttons, a big red button was pressed.

"Seven!"

Izuku shouted out his number of points as another three pointer tipped over off balance thanks to its treads being torn up. He moved to take a step in finding another one knowing his total wasn't anything near enough to pass.

*BOOOOOOM!*

The force from that nearby explosion caused the ground to rock and Izuku to nearly fall over. The nearby buildings began to come apart a distance away from him and a few other kids.

Ochako had just come into an intersection a bit closer to the explosion as she held a hand to her stomach. She looked up trying to get a good view on what was coming and causing the ground to shake.

Camilla was actually beginning to enjoy herself during this test. As she called her thrown saber back to her hand and listened to another robot crumble to the ground, she was just about to run further into the mock city when suddenly, she came to a halt. Her head was throbbing as her senses were telling her to go the other way.

"Huh? What's happening?"

*BOOOOOOM!*

She and every other examinee in the area stopped in their tracks and whipped their heads to the source of the noise. When Camilla focused her vision forward to try and get a shape on what was coming, she had the same reaction as Izuku and Ochako as they saw what it was come through the dust.

"I have a bad feeling about this."

She was sure for a moment that the Force has to be just slightly off here. She was picking up something. But it was huge. Really huge. As it got closer, more and more of it became clear to the Jedi as she realized just how massive this new robot was. Tall enough to look over the buildings and at the examinees like an infant looking at a bug.

"THAT THING IS THE ZERO POINTER?!"

"Ribbit! It does look like what Present Mic showed us!"

Two kids from behind Camilla screamed as she refocused her vision. Zero pointer? This gigantic thing was the zero pointer?! How could something so unfairly big be worth nothing at all in this test?!

That thought was pushed out of her head when she saw the thing start to raise its arm. Before anyone else could scream, the zero pointer swung its arm down and bashed its fist into the street in front of them. The force of the impact and the wave of dust that rushed over them caused the kids in its path to either get thrown off their feet or shield their eyes from the dust. Even though they didn't work, Camilla didn't want to have sand stuck in her eyes. The best she could in the dust cloud, she swung her arm out and tried to push the cloud away with the Force. The push cleared some of it away, and then the rush of wind was over leaving a good chunk of debris from the streets headed their way and smashing into some buildings.

Camilla for a good chunk of time had thought she had somehow landed back in the war. All at once kids from all around started to run not wanting to be in this thing's way whenever it got closer. As broken window glass and shattered walls from the buildings they passed fell down, the examinees kept running. As much as she didn't want to, even the Jedi knew that facing this thing head on without a plan wouldn't be wise. Not that she had really thought of it. After all, this thing was just worth zero wasn't it?

"HEEEEELP!"

Tabling that thought, Camilla jerked her head to the right.

"Anybody! My arm is stuck and I think it's broken!"

That voice came from one of the nearby buildings that got hit with a flying chunk of street. At the front of it, there was a girl there with a small white light over her heart. Forgetting the zero pointer, Camilla instead of running away, ran to the girl.

*Ssshhhhhhhhp!*

*Ssshhhhhhhhp!*

Both of her lightsabers went to her belt as she got closer.

"Just hold on. I'll get you out."

The ruby haired Padawan stretched a hand out to the asphalt chunk and began to lift it slowly. If this girl's arm was broken, then she had to move slow in order to cause the least amount of pain. Though that was gonna be a little hard considering that giant zero pointer was starting to close in on her. As Camilla gently levitated the debris of the girl's arm, she kept jerking her head back and forth between the robot on the girl.

"Hurry!" The girl cried.

"Can you pull your arm out?" Camilla asked hurriedly.

It took quite a bit of effort, but the girl was able to work through the unyielding pain in her arm and pull it out from where she was pinned.

"I'm free!"

The moment she said that, rather than drop the piece of road, Camilla picked it up all the way and Force pushed it as hard as she could towards the zero pointer. As it flew away, she knelt down, picked up the girl with the broken arm, and dashed away using a burst of Force speed. Quickly she turned a corner to get as far away from this thing's path as possible. When the zero pointer passed them by, Only then did Camilla kneel once more and lay the girl against the wall of another building. The girl was still whimpering in pain.

"It's alright. You're safe. The arm I'm sure will be OK too."

'I should have brought some bacta with me.'

"Thank you for that." The girl squeaked.

"Let's see if we can get you out of here."

Camilla reached down to put a hand to the girl's shoulder. The moment she touched her hand to the girl's bare skin, suddenly she was no longer in the exam. In place of the buildings, her vision had brought her right back in front of the group of twenty she had seen before. Izuku's and Ochako's silhouette's still as clear as the other hot and cold person next to them. Now a few spots down from them, a fourth cloud of gas took on the shape of a body. This same white light was in her heart and she looked to be wearing a thick pair of shoes and gloves. Nothing else, just shoes and gloves. She too had her arm outstretched beckoning for Camilla to take it.

One moment later, Camilla jerked herself away from this girl as she brought a hand up to her head.

"Hey….are you alright?" The girl asked sounding concerned.

Camilla quickly tried to gather her thoughts up and looked down to the girl again.

"Y-yeah. Just fine I assure you." She firmly declared. "Would you mind if I asked for your name?"

The girl wasn't sure why she was asking but she figured she could give it to the one who saved her ass.

"It's Toru. Toru Hagakure." She answered. "I guess I should ask your-oh my god."

"What? What's wrong?" Camilla could sense Toru was scared about something.

She turned but saw no villain robots coming their way. So what was Toru reacting to?

"I didn't notice it before. But…your eyes."

A small gasp escaped her lips as one of Camilla's hands flew up to her face. Feeling around the side of her head, she felt nothing but skin and her hair. The sunglasses that were protecting her eyes were gone. She figured they must have been blown off from the force of that giant robot's punch. She quickly turned around so Toru couldn't see her face.

"Don't worry about my eyes."

Toru despite the massive amount of pain in her arm still got up and approached the girl.

"But…but you're hurt! Shouldn't you get to a doctor before that injury becomes permanent or something? You can't take this test blind."

That statement caused the ruby haired girl to whip her head back around and allow those nonfunctional eyes to point right at Toru's head.

"This isn't an injury. I was born like this. I've been taking this test blind the entire time."

*BOOOOOM!*

Another loud impact made both girls jump a bit and look back in the direction of the zero pointer.

"TWO MINUTE WARNING! ONLY TWO MINUTES LEFT IN THE EXAM!"

Two minutes. Okay. That was still enough time to sore a few more points. But now with that giant zero pointer in the way, Camilla knew it was going to be more of a challenge. There was another problem too. Even from the distance between herself and the rest of the applicants, she could feel the immense amount of fear flooding the test area as the sight of this gargantuan mecha caused it all to come forth. In that moment, passing the test was pushed back a few spots on Camilla's list of priorities. Her nature as a Jedi was kicking in and her desire to protect was overtaking her. With a sense of confidence, she looked back to Toru.

"Are you gonna be alright here on your own?"

Toru did not like that look on the blind girl's face.

"Uh…yeah. Why? What are you going to do?" She cautiously asked.

The first part of the reply she received was Camilla turning her back and looking in the direction of the rampaging giant robot.

"Probably something stupid." Was all she said before taking off in a sprint.

As she ran off, Camilla was certain Toru would be alright if she wasn't anywhere near what she was about to try and make happen. What she was absolutely unaware of however was one fact about Toru Hagakure she didn't catch with her Force vision. Had she been able to see clearly, she wouldn't have seen a body. Rather she would have just seen a floating tank top, a pair of shorts, and sneakers all moving like there was a body there but completely unseen.

"Wait! You can't take that thing on! It's too big! Come back! At least tell me this! How did you see me?! I can't even see me!"

She didn't get a reply. Toru just watched her savior run away towards that thing and use her power to speed up and round the corner to give chase to the thing.

"How can a blind girl see me?! Does anyone have an answer to that?!"

No answer came. The girl she never got the name of just ran off after the zero pointer.

While Camilla ran she started to at least try to put together a plan. With her vision being limited to just the outline of this thing, she wasn't going to be able to find any weak spots.

'Alright let's see here. I could try to cut my way inside it and take it apart from the inside. No I could probably get caught in an explosion with no way out. Maybe I could throw one of my sabers at its legs. Get it to fall off balance? No. It could fall in the wrong way and hit someone. And I am in no way strong enough to lift something this big. Wait….am I?'

That little thought got Camilla wondering about something as she kept running.

'My abilities are boosted thanks to the Force energy surrounding Earth. I know I've been training to get them honed for today but I never really did try to push myself past those limits. At least not far past them.'

The second she got to thinking this could possibly be a good idea she was coming up with, she shook her head and tried to push it out.

'No! No this is crazy! This is like…Anakin levels of crazy! I can't throw myself in front of this thing just to give something like this a try! I don't even know if it will work!'

"HOLY CRAP THAT THING IS COMING! GET AWAY!"

It was crazy. Her idea was by every definition crazy. But the others here were in danger. Judging by the amount of fear she felt, she was willing to bet none of them were gonna be brave enough to try and use their quirks on this thing. Not that it would do them any good. Present Mic did say it was worth nothing. Though…Camilla did recall feeling something off about the voice here as he was saying that. He was excited about this robot more than the others. There had to be a reason for that. Whatever it was, it was gonna have to wait. Steeling her nerves back up and ready now to be crazy, Camilla let the Force flow through her body and she began to run faster.

On the other side of the zero pointer, the rest of the kids taking the test were moving as fast as they could to widen the gap between themselves and this giant thing. Some of them were already a clear distance away thanks to their quirks but some others who weren't that fast were starting to get winded. Nearly all their stamina had been used up trying to either find or destroy the villain bots. There was very little in reserve now for full on running in the other direction. The zero pointer was by no means fast, but that didn't account to anything as far as the kids were concerned. They saw a giant thing, their first instinct was to run.

One kid, who had just deactivated his quirk on his skin, took a glance backwards to see if this thing was getting any closer. Thankfully it looked like it wasn't and there were no stragglers left behind. There did look to be another kid though coming into view from between the giant's legs.

Screeching to a halt, the boy turned around fully to make sure he wasn't seeing things. His eyes were telling the truth. Right between the robot's legs, he saw a girl with red hair sprinting as fast as she could to get in front of the thing and appearing to do a good job of it.

"HEEEEEY! HURRY UP! GET OUT OF THERE!"

A few of the other kids within earshot of that boy's yell stopped and turned themselves to get a look at who or what he was yelling to. A girl with long dark green hair, black eyes, and enlarged hands was one such kid. She didn't yell in tandem with the other boy but silently, as she got a good look at the running girl, she hoped for the same. That she made a speedy getaway.

That hope was crushed the moment she saw this redhead come to a complete stop and turn to face the zero pointer.

"What the…is she insane?! HEY! TURN BACK AROUND AND RUN!"

"Ribbit. What does she think she's doing?!"

Up ahead in front of the monstrous mechanism, Camilla was fully capable of hearing the yells of her fellow examinees coming from behind her. She paid them no mind and kept her focus straight ahead. This idea was asinine, reckless, stupid, and would probably end with her crushed in the pavement. Anakin would definitely approve. In fact Anakin would probably right there beside her while Obi-Wan would be the one shouting from behind to get out of there. No time to chuckle about those thoughts now, though. There was a robot to take out and an idea to try.

Closing her eyes, Camilla recalled as much of her past lessons in the Force as she could while she stood perfectly still. All noise around her, the motorized legs of the zero pointer, she screams from the other kids, slowly but surely to the young Jedi, the noise got softer. Second by second the sound dimmed down until finally, the blind Padawan could hear nothing but her own breathing.

"Use your feelings, you must. Reach out with them." She could hear Master Yoda's voice saying that.

Slowly, Camilla began to raise her arms up from her sides.

"Feel the Force flow." It was like he was standing right there.

All throughout her time here, she could feel the vast energy output from the Force on this planet. She used it, but she had never fully tried to tap into it.

"My ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter. You must feel the Force around you. Be one with it. And let it be one with you."

As the words of her master echoed in her head, Camilla began to do just that. She could feel the Force within her as she reeled back her arms looking ready to thrust them forward. As she let this planet's immense Force energy surge through her body, which felt absolutely amazing, she started to also feel a bit of strain on her muscles. But she couldn't let that stop her now.

"I am one with the Force."

She rose up her right leg.

"And the Force…"

Her eyes then snapped open, and she looked up to the giant robot before her.

"…IS WITH ME!"

Her foot came down and with all her might, Camilla pushed.

While the redheaded girl closed her eyes, the other kids from behind kept yelling at her to get the hell out of where she was standing and book it. No matter how loud they got, she still wouldn't move.

"Screw this! Let's just go get her!"

The boy pounded his fists together while the frog girl was ready to hop forward. But right before she could get off her feet, she saw the redhead begin to raise her arms.

"Wait." She called out.

The boy looked over to her wondering what possible reason she could have for telling him to wait. When he saw the girl was looking straight ahead, he turned his head to see too the girl moving her arms.

"It looks like she's doing something." The girl's raspy voice came.

"Well yeah but wha…uh….."

The question died in the boy's throat as he and the girl next to him saw just what was happening. As the redhead's arm rose up higher and higher, everything followed the motion. Literally everything. Broken chunks of the streets and sidewalks, shattered robot parts, broken glass, street lamps, everything in the space between the other kids and this one girl was starting to lift up off the ground and float higher and higher.

"Whoa….is this her quirk?" The boy wondered.

The frog girl didn't give him an answer. She was too entranced with what she was witnessing in front of her. This redhead's power had to be strong in order to have that wide a reach.

"…IS WITH ME!"

Finally, the girl stepped forward and pushed her arms forward. The moment she did, everything that was being held by her mental grip launched in the same upward direction as her arms. But seconds before even one of those things made contact, something else hit that robot first. Some unseen force impacted with the torso of the robot and made a pretty big dent across the armored plating. Whatever hit it must have hit it hard because the momentum of the big shifted backwards and away from the girl and the rest of the group. Then everything else that was thrown showered over it only scratching and piercing the thing more. Sparks flew from the chest where it was hit first. Then more, then they spread all throughout the zero pointer's body before it caught fire from the inside and its systems started to shut down.

Those watching from behind majorly had one reaction. That reaction being their jaws falling so far from their faces they were practically on the ground. One girl. That monstrosity was sent backwards with such power from just one girl.

"Her quirk is incredible." The frog girl murmured.

"No kidding." The boy beside her agreed. "She didn't even hesitate to put herself in front of that zero pointer."

Everyone else within earshot of that statement couldn't help but agree with it and start to feel a bit down about themselves. When faced with a real threat, none of them really did anything heroic. They didn't try to fight it and they didn't try to look for a way around it. Every one of them just turned and bolted in the other direction. That girl however did the opposite. She ran in from behind and planted herself right between the other kids and it with the sole intention of taking it on. They were taking this test to prove they had what it takes to become heroes. Yet only one of them made a stand against it. And that one of them…

…was currently collapsing into a heap on the ground.

As she lay there on the asphalt, Camilla struggled to move a single finger. Every muscle underneath her skin felt like it had been set ablaze as a result of that massive push.

"I uh….I guess I tapped into the Force….a little too much."

She kicked herself for not considering for even a moment that could be a possibility. Using the Force takes stamina and of course if you do it for long enough or with something heavy enough, you feel a physical strain. Right now that strain felt like she had just completed several tough workout sessions with Mirko all rolled into one bundle of burn and pain. Even twitching a finger or a toe was painful. But it was alright. The zero pointer was rendered inoperable. She did what she set out to do.

So why could she still hear the sparking?

Through the pain, Camilla was barely able to make out anything with her Force vision. The outline of the zero pointer she could get didn't seem to answer much. The sounds did though. She had heard that sound plenty of times in the Clone Wars from various models of battle droids. Enough of the internal parts must have been dislodged when she hit it with that giant push and now it was short circuiting. And in most cases when something short circuits…

*BOOOOOOM!*

…that happens.

A series of small explosions erupted out of various parts of the zero pointer causing it to literally fall apart. The arms fell down next to its feet damaging the buildings on both sides of it. Right before it tipped over though, the head blew clean off by itself and was sent rocketing forward not by much, but enough to impact the top of the building the Camilla was laying right next to. Once it hit, the building literally began to collapse and debris from it began to come down right towards her. Especially one big chunk. It was gonna be hard and painful but she had no choice, Camilla turned and with pain throbbing through her side, began to raise her arm.

"HIIYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!"

That loud scream caused the Jedi to falter on using her power as it got closer and closer. A loud set of footsteps came charging forward and then the person that was making them leapt. This new person soared over Camilla's body and right up into the falling chunk of building debris. Clenching a fist, this kid threw a fist right for the rock. With another loud boom, the chunk was in pieces that landed around the Padawan. Then the person who broke it apart landed right near her and put their body over hers like a shield from the smaller and bigger bits. Up close, Camilla could see this person had one interesting hairstyle and a bright red light symbolizing their Force connection.

"HURRY! GET HER OUT!"

"RIBBIT!"

That was definitely another boys voice she could hear from above her. Before anything else could be thought, Camilla felt something wrap around her waist and lift her off her spot on the ground. She was then carried away from the wreckage by…whatever it was that had a hold of her. When she looked down, her vision saw that it looked to be a long rope tied around her waist and trailing all the way down to another kid's head who was hopping away on all fours. Within her body there was a bright yellowish green light. Checking behind her, Camilla was relieved to see the boy who saved her was hot on their tail and avoiding the rest of the debris with ease.

"TIME IS UP! THE PRACTICAL EXAM IS OVER! ALL STUDENTS STAND DOWN!"

As the alarm blared through the mock city, most of the kids stood in their place as they watched the frog girl clear the collapsing building and set Camilla down on her side. As she looked carefully at the girl, making sure no one saw her eyes, Camilla watched as the rope that was wrapped around her stomach retracted back and vanished inside the girl's head.

'Wait a minute. Did that rope just go into that girl's mouth? Wait was that rope her tongue?! Was I just saved by a Gungan?!'

Those thoughts would have to be shelved for later. The test was over, and she was full of nothing but muscle burn and exhaustion. Her eyes may have been closed but her mind could still make out the shapes of the girl who carried her and the boy who saved her from being crushed looking down at her with concern.

"Thank you….both of you…" That was all she could say before she passed out.

Precisely two minutes prior over in battle area B, Izuku was having a much more intense reaction to seeing the zero pointer enter his arena.

'Isn't this a little extreme?!'

The mere sight of the enormous sized robot caused Izuku to drop the piece of armored plating in his hands and stumble backwards onto his butt in the street. He was so frozen stiff looking at it, he didn't even register the other kids running past him to try and get away from it. Not even the tall kid from before glancing at him mid run then turn his head and keeping going. Just what the hell was Present Mic saying when he told the kids there was no point to these things?! How does something that big have no point?! His mind still running a mile a minute, Izuku finally found the will he needed to pull himself off the ground and stand up to run with the rest of them.

"Oooooooowwww!"

Before he could move his foot one step however, that cry caused him to freeze again. He recognized that voice all too well at this point. He whipped his head back around and there she was.

"Uraraka!"

Ochako was there, not far away from the approaching giant robot with her leg pinned underneath a broken chunk of the street. She looked like she was in pain as she struggled to get up or even move her leg free.

'Ow! Dammit all this hurts! This really hurts!'

Try as she might, that Ochako couldn't move her ankle free from the debris pinning her. Even trying to caused a huge throb of pain to rocket down into her toes and all the way up her side simultaneously. Hurt as it much, Ochako was scrambling trying to think up a way out. She may not have been able to turn her body to see it fully but that giant robot was getting closer. She did not want to be anywhere near that when it got into crushing levels of proximity. She had to be tough. She had to fight through the pain. She had to do what a hero would do and not let something like this be her end. It would be rather humiliating to die during the entrance exam. All that training she did to strengthen her muscles and her quirk, the sword fighting lessons with Camilla, it would all be for nothing. Gritting her teeth and trying to block out the pain, Ochako tried to pull her leg out again.

As Izuku stood frozen in that spot on the street, his eyes remained locked on Ochako as she painfully fought against the pain in her body to try and wrench herself free. As he stared at her, his mind went back to the day Camilla introduced her to him.

"But you know, 'Deku' kinda sounds like the word that means 'You can do it!' Don't you think that would make a great hero name?! Plus if you ask me, it does sound cute."

Camilla was his first friend, but Ochako was the one who turned the name Deku into something that wasn't used as a tool to torment him, but as a word of encouragement. A way to motivate him to follow his dream rather than convince him to let them escape his grasp. He was thankful for that. Immensely he was.

Memories began to flash before his eyes from the moment he met Ochako to the days they would spend together up until now. Eating dinner together at his house with his mom, studying for these tests, listening to Camilla talk more about her Jedi culture and upbringing, he even remembered the time R3 zapped him with a hidden prod in his body after he questioned the droid's intelligence. Camilla scolded the robot but Ochako couldn't help but laugh at the funny hairdo it left him with. Izuku couldn't help but laugh with her after that. Ochako, was by any and all definitions, an amazing person/

And now there she was before him, only seconds away from being crushed by a giant robot.

Hell no.

"GET AWAY FROM HEEEEEER!"

He wasn't quite sure how it happened, but just like during the sludge villain incident. Izuku's legs began to carry him towards the danger rather than away from it. When he was close enough, he did the thing All Might told him to do when helping trigger his new quirk. He could feel something tense up in his legs as they felt like they were being overcharged on energy. Then he jumped, soaring clear over Ochako's gaping eyes and straight up past the robot's midsection, and closing in on its face. He clenched his right fist, repeating the thing again. His fist began to glow in crossing red lines over his skin from his hand up his entire arm causing the sleeve of his jacket to rip away.

"There are no points awarded for taking on a giant monster when you don't have to. But there is another thing, young Midoriya. And that is an opportunity. A chance to show the stuff that makes you who you are."

As the words of his mentor flowed through his head, Izuku pulled his fist back.

"So go and do it, kid! Clench up your butt cheeks! And scream this with as much heroism as you can muster!"

"SSSSSSSSSSSSMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSHHHHH!"

Izuku threw his fist forward with all of his might and it connected.

*BOOOOOOOOM!*

The entire face of the zero pointer became deformed as the giant mechanism was thrown backwards from the force of the punch. A few seconds later, it started to spark and explode as it tumbled completely onto its back away from everyone else. Izuku just watched it fall amazed at what he just did while grasping his own broken arm now covered in darkened skin. From down below, the other kids were looking up at the green haired kid stunned that this timid boy from before just did that to the zero pointer. None of them were more surprised than Ochako as she watched from below her previously quirkless friend unleash his newly inherited power for the first time. She knew One For All was stupidly strong. But she never could fully imagine what it would look like once it became Izuku's and grew stronger. This was a good first showing of it. And boy did it shatter all of her expectations. That robot was enormous and all it took was one punch from One For All to send it back and in knocked out.

'Wow….Deku…you did it. One For All is really yours now. And look what you did with it! You're amazing!"

Straight above her she could just barely make out Izuku's body as it stayed there in midair for a few moments as he seemed to be admiring his own work. It made Ochako smile. Then he started to drop and that made her panic.

'Wait. Is he falling? Oh….OH! Crap! He's falling! Deku's falling!'

Izuku himself was having a hard time trying to orient himself in his descent. The more he tried to more he realized he couldn't because three of his limbs refused to move. His legs, and the arm he used to punch the robot. All three of them were fluttering like paper in the wind as he plummeted down to the concrete.

'I'M BROKEN!'

The boy began to panic as he finally realized just how bad he had gotten messed up by his own power. All Might's warning played back in his head again about physical repercussions and Izuku now thought in hindsight it would have been a better idea to just try and help pull Ochako out of the debris rather than punch a robot.

'I can't believe I did something so stupid! I could have just as easily helped out Uraraka and then go off to get more points!'

As he recognized that both his legs and arm were broken, the pain that comes with such a feeling was starting to register with his brain as he kept falling back to Earth. As bad as it was, he was still doing his damndest to keep his mind focused on a way to land and not die.

'Let's see! Uhh…I jumped using One For All. Maybe I can land with it too! I still have my other arm! I can use another smash to cushion my landing! But then….then I'll have all four of my limbs broken! I'll have to settle for seven measly points! That's nowhere near enough to pass!'

He could see the ground getting closer. Izuku had to make a choice now or become a cautionary tale for future test takers. Clenching his left fist, he positioned himself into a headfirst dive and let the ground get closer. The seconds passed and Izuku was feeling his muscles tense up as One For All began to charge through him again. As he passed the tallest rooftops off the mock city, he had his timing ready and knew the precise moment when to throw his fist. He just hoped that he would have enough strength left to get at least one more point. The street was coming. Izuku got ready to punch.

*SMACK!*

With timing that could only be described as astronomically precise, Ochako got herself into position and slapped her friend in the face as he came down. She made sure all five of the pads on her hand connected. They did as was evident when Izuku didn't impact the asphalt but floated just above it. Shocked and completely ignoring the stinging in his cheek, Izuku looked over at Ochako amazed at what she just did for him. She was currently resting her body on top of a broken part of a faux villain which was also floating above the ground. But…she didn't look so good.

"….ngh….release."

Once the pads on both her hands touched each other, her quirk was deactivated and both she and Izuku fell back to the ground.

"Uraraka…" Izuku muttered. "…thank you."

Ochako barely heard it and was about to answer. But instead of words coming out of her mouth, her breakfast decided to first. As she vomited onto the pavement, Izuku silently thanked her again as he tried to crawl away.

"Thanks to her…now….I can try and up my score…"

"TIIIIIIIIIMES UP! THAT'S IT FOR THIS YEARS EXAM!"

Present Mic's voice blaring through the city brought that hope down to cinders. Seven points. He only managed to get seven points throughout the whole test.

'I….I blew it…..i failed.'

That thought was his final one before he slipped out of consciousness in the street.
