Chapter 163 Psychics

In the Candy Kingdom, Crimson in his butler disguise was walking down a hallway towards Bubblegum's secret monitor room with a tray that had a cup of tea on it. The butler entered the room and saw Bubblegum in her chair looking at a bunch of monitors that showed the various kingdoms and villages.
"Here is your tea my queen." Said Crimson as he handed Bubblegum the tea.
"Thank you Peppermint Butler." Said Bubblegum as she took the tea and took a sip.
Crimson smiled and turned to leave. The villain looked at a section of the wall and saw a tiny hole being cut into it. Crimson had told King about Bubblegum's monitor room and where it was. King had sent a team of worms, rats, and cuties to infiltrate the palace and place a camera in the monitor room to show that Bubblegum was spying on everyone in Ooo. A rat and a cutie angled a camera lens through the hole, so that it was pointed at Bubblegum and the monitors.
"The watcher is being watched." Joked Crimson to himself as he left the room.
As soon as he was out of the room, Crimson made plans to visit a special place that Bubblegum had constructed. The place was called Mount Milky Way Asylum and it had originally built with the intention to help those who were mentally ill, but over time that goal had all, but been forgotten and the people who worked there were mostly focused on the study of psychic powers. Some of the patients at the asylum were people from various kingdoms, who were being kept at the asylum against their will. There was also talk about a bunch of secret psychic based weapons being built at the asylum. Crimson planned to sneak into the asylum to see what kind of dirt he could use to make the rest of Ooo turn on Bubblegum and the Candy Kingdom.
Mount Milky Way Asylum was built into the side of a mountain and looked more like a fortress then a place to revive mental care. A huge electric fence surrounded the compound and the grounds were patrolled by gumball robots, Banana Guards, and gingerbread guards. In one of the upper rooms a hulking Banana Guard, by the name of Chris Walker was getting out of bed. Walker had once been a normal Banana Guard, whose unit had been sent out to explore the out lands and try to colonize it for the Candy Kingdom. The mission had gone horrible bad and all, but Walker and a couple other guards had been wiped out. Walker had suffered a great deal of stress from the botched mission and was sent to the Asylum to get treated. It was there that Walker met a scientist by the name of Rudolf. Rudolf was a crippled ginger snap cookie, who rode around in an electric wheelchair. The scientist took pity on Walker and helped him get the help and pills he needed to deal with his stress. After a few years Walker is considered cured and Rudolf offered him a job as being a security guard at the asylum. Walker took the job and had been working at the place ever since.
Walker put on his uniform and started doing his rounds. The asylum was full of oddballs and crazies. Some were harmless, while others were dangerous. In one cell there was a tiny sugar ball kid named Dennis, who suffered from a multiply personality disorder. The poor kid had originally had two personalities, but ever since he came to the asylum, his problem had become worse. Dennis now had four personalities and they all seemed to hate Bubblegum.
"Help me'!? I know of your 'help' Princess! your 'help' brought the pain! the fear! The suffering! The whispers in the dark! NO MORE! NO MORE! MAKE IT ALL GO AWAY!" Screamed Dennis as he huddled in a corner and rocked back and forth.
Walker shook his head slightly at the sight. He couldn't help but feel some hatred towards Bubblegum. The asylum was something she had created to help people who suffered from mental illnesses, but over the years it seemed that no one was getting helped and that the patients's conditions got worse. In another cell there was a gumdrop named Frank, who eyed Walker hungrily. Frank enjoyed killing his fellow candy people and eating them.
"You look tasty." Said Frank as he licked his mouth.
Walker was tempted to give Frank a knuckle sandwich, but decided he wasn't worth it and moved on. In another cell there was a twizler named Trager wearing a straightjacket muttering about getting a promotion, better stock options, and a big flashy company car. Trager had once been a scientist that had worked at the asylum and had been involved with working on a top secret experiment. The project was incredibly dangerous and Trager had been driven insane from it and was forced to become a patient in the asylum. Walker knew a little bit about the project and he had caught glimpse of it around the asylum and it had frightened him. The guard had asked Rudolf about it and he assured him that there was nothing to be worried about. Walker had believed the doctor at first, but then a couple of guards and a few patients had all been killed and according to the security cameras it was the experiment that had done the killings. The asylum was put on lockdown for several hours, until the issue was resolved, however the damage was done. Walker felt a great fear for the experiment and he knew that if it ever got out then all of Ooo would be in danger. The guard made a vow that he would do everything in his power to prevent the experiment from escaping. Another result of the experiment's rampage was that a cult that worshiped it had formed. The cult was lead by a chocolate candy bar patient, who went by the name Father Hersey. Hersey believed that the experiment was some kind of deity, who came from the heavens to bring order to the world and cleanses it of evil. The recent news about the trouble brewing between the Candy Kingdom and Fire Kingdom only seemed to excite Hersey and his cult more. They believed it was a sign that their god was going to cleanse the world and that it was their duty to unleash him. Hersey had even given the experiment a name. He called the experiment the Phantomrider.
"This place just keeps getting worse." Grumbled Walker as he stomped down a hallway.
The guard saw Hersey in one of the activity rooms huddled together with a couple of his most trusted followers. The two followers were two spiky people, who happened to be twins, who went by the names Mike and Pike. The twins were orphans, who had committed several crimes in their village including murder. Mike and Pike had been sent to the asylum to get fixed, but so far there was little chance of that happening. Walker looked at the twins and Hersey and then went about his rounds. Little did Walker, know that Crimson was invisible and walking right behind him. Crimson followed Walker for a little bit, until they reached an elevator. The two of them entered the elevator and headed down to a secret sub level where the lab for psychic studies and experiments was kept.
The lab was a massive and high tech complex. Guards and scientist walked around and did various bits of work. There were four unique patients in the lab, who each had psychic powers. The first was a toast person named Anton, who had pyrokinesis abilities. The second was a lizard person named Izzy, who had the ability to animate objects. She had demonstrated this ability by animating a bunch of shed lizard skins and made them walk around. The third was a yellow skinned humanoid with black hair named Aggie, who had psychokinesis abilities. The final was an albino spider monkey from the Monkey Kingdom, named Specter who had numerous psychic abilities.

All four of the psychics were heavily sedated and were resting in a bunch of pods with cables connected to them that lead to a much larger pod. Walker entered the lab and went about helping the other security guards connect machines and guard the area. It was then that another elevator came down and out walked the manager of the asylum a green sour ball candy wearing a black suit that went by the name Jeremy. Jeremy was stuck up and only cared about was his own personally glory. He saw the studies into psychic powers as his ticket to becoming rich and famous and he was willing to do anything to get what he wanted.
"Is everything on schedule?" Asked Jeremy as he looked at one of the scientist.
"Yes sir." Said a scientist.
"Good." Said Jeremy as he took a seat in an office chair.
Doctor Rudolf rolled into the lab in his wheelchair and said a brief hello to Walker and some others before going over to examine the patients. The doctor took a few minutes to inspect Specter. The albino spider monkey had white fur with coloring at the tips and pale pink skin. Specter was only wearing red shorts. Rudolf study Specter with a bit of dread as he cursed Jeremy and Bubblegum. If the Monkey Kingdom and the other kingdoms and villages of Ooo found out about the project and the people being held captive at the asylum, then they would tear the Candy Kingdom apart. Bubblegum's obsession with power and control had caused the asylum to go bad and become a place of madness, instead of a place of healing. Rudolf loved science, but he knew that the asylum and the research team had crossed a line, when they started to create the experiment. The experiment was a creature created from a swarm of tiny nanobots that feed of the psychic powers of the four captured psychics and the unstable emotions of the other patients. Bubblegum had asked for a weapon that could be used against the Wizards and Night Princess if either of them ever became enemies of the Candy Kingdom. The experiment was the weapon that Bubblegum had desired, though it wasn't quit ready yet. Rudolf turned away from the subjects and told the other scientist to start the machines up.
The machines were turned on and the four psychics began to squirm in pain. The large pod began to glow as a form began to take shape. A thin black humanoid silhouette appeared in the pod. It had a skeletal appearance with clawed hands and feet and it gave off a black aura.
"The Phantomrider." Whispered Walker as he and the other guards starred at it.
"I suppose it's a good name as any. It does have the appearance of a phantom." Thought Rudolf.
"Queen Bubblegum will be pleased. We have a psychic weapon. How is it stabilizing?" Said Jeremy.
"Everything seems to be stable and we have full control of the swarm." Said one scientist.
"That's great." Said Jeremy with a big grin.
"I could use this thing to overthrow Bubblegum and save the Candy Kingdom. It's Bubblegum's fault that the kingdom is on the threat of war with the Fire Kingdom. If I took down Bubblegum, cured the patients, and free the psychic captives, I could bring an new peaceful era to Ooo." Thought Rudolf as he watched the Phantomrider.
"That thing must be destroyed." Thought Walker.
"Well this is interesting. It seems Bubblegum has dug another hole for herself. With this news mixed with the monitor news not a single kingdom or village will side with the Candy Kingdom once the war starts." Thought Crimson with a chuckle.
After a while, a few scientist headed into the elevator to leave the lab. Crimson snuck on and headed up with them. The masked villain then went about and contacted King to tell him about the recent dirt he had collected and told him to send his tiny forces to infiltrate the asylum to collect video evidence. A bunch of dark secrets had been uncovered and soon a trust in a kingdom would be destroyed.
