Chapter 175 Odd Group

(Author's Note: Happy 2017 everybody! Just giving you a quick heads up that I'll be taking a mini vacation, so I'm going to be gone for a little bit. I might try to post another chapter up before I go, but I don't know yet. Enjoy the chapter.)
On planet Olympia, Jeff, Mimi, Peridot, and Lapis were following the river. Ever since the attack from Jasper and Zim, the little group of runaways thought it would be best to pack their things and move on. Peridot had managed to salvage some things from the destroyed pod, along with her tablet. The group headed on with really no clear destination.
"So why don't we go seek shelter from the locals? I'm sure if we simply tell them were travelers seeking shelter and offer to do some work, they'll shelter us." Said Jeff.
"That might work for you, Mimi, and Lapis, but it won't work with me." Said Peridot.
"Whys that?" Asked Jeff.
"About twenty years ago I worked under Jasper and she tried to invade this planet. I was a technician office and my duty was to control the warship and provide maintenance to the machines aboard it. The warship bombed and blasted the planet's surface. I determined the most strategic places to attack and the ship attacked them. This went on or a few months, but then the tide began to change. The defenders managed to get aboard the ship and began to attack Jasper and her forces. I saw that the battle was not in Jasper's favor, so I hopped into an escape pod and fled. So you see I can't ask any of the locals to shelter me, after what I did. They'll recognize me by the symbol I wear and either have me locked up or executed." Said Peridot looking at her tablet sadly.
"I'm not going to let any of that happen to you Peridot. I can fly us both to another planet." Said Lapis as she put a comforting hand on Peridot's shoulder.
"You...don't have to do that Lapis. This is my mistake not yours." Said Peridot as she looked at the other gem.
"Tell me something Peridot, did you actually kill or hurt anyone when you figured out the best places to attack?" Asked Jeff.
"Actually...no. I determined the places to attack before the defenders could use them. The places that I attacked were places that were going to be used as either command outpost or ammunition depots. I had them destroyed before they could be used." Said Peridot looking a bit shocked.
"Then you didn't really harm anyone. Now tell me, do you feel bad about what you did?" Said Jeff.
"I do feel bad about what I did." Said Peridot.
"Your remorseful about what you did. Now if you just told the locals how sorry you are and that your willing to make up for what you did, then you can work out a deal with them and maybe do some kind of community service." Said Jeff.
"I suppose I could do that." Said Peridot.
"You can do it. Your the smartest person I know Peridot and I'm sure once you show the locals what you can do, then they'll forgive you and offer you shelter." Said Lapis, with a big smile as she held both of Peridot's hands in hers.
"Thanks...Lapis." Said Peridot as she blushed a little at the compliment.
"Alright then let's go find the nearest village or town. We can all use a roof over our heads." Said Jeff.
"House." Said Mimi.
"Yep were going to find us a house to sleep and live in." Said Jeff.
So the group moved on. Lapis look over at Mimi, who was wearing her white dress along with some black boots. Mimi was just skipping along looking cheery. The black eye, Mimi had gotten from Jasper had quickly healed up in less then an hour. Lapis was curious about Mimi's abilities so she asked Jeff what Mimi was capable of.
"Well to be honest I'm not all sure what Mimi is capable of. Back when we lived on our planet, Blossom and Dexter wanted to keep Mimi safe and out of harms way. They forbid Mimi from crime fighting or any other kind of serious heroics. Mimi began to develop psychic powers as she got older and was able to move things with her mind and glimpse the future. Dexter saw that Mimi's visions could be used for good and so he created a machine to help Mimi hone her visions and help see upcoming crimes and disasters. Mimi got her wish in helping fight crime, using her visions. Then Him came and infected Mimi with the devil essence, which filled Mimi whit chaotic evil energy, however it couldn't completely corrupt her. While infected with the devil essence, Mimi had super strength, super speed, the power to create and control flames, durability, and the power to summon various objects. I'm not sure if Mimi got the super strength, speed, and durability from the devil essence or she inherited those from Blossom. That super scream Mimi did, when Jasper and Zim showed up was new." Said Jeff.
"So what was Blossom able to do?" Asked Lapis.
"She could of tons of things. Blossom was strong, fast, had the ability to fly, fire lasers from her eyes, X-ray vision, durability, and ice breath." Said Jeff.
"She sounds incredible. You think Mimi will inherit Blossom's abilities?" Said Lapis.
"Possibly. I'm not quit sure though. Mimi is still just a kid, so she hasn't yet began to scratch her full potential yet. She could have abilities from both Blossom and Him, but only time will tell." Said Jeff.
"I guess will just have to wait and see." Said Lapis.
The group decided to follow a path into the forest and after about an hour of traveling they decided to stop and rest in a clearing. The group was resting, when another person walked into the clearing on the other side and that person was Martin. Martin starred at the odd little group not sure what to make of it. His danger senses weren't picking up any trouble from the giant spider or any of the women. The group starred back at Martin. Finally Jeff decided to speak.
"Hi, my name is Jeff and there's are my friends Mimi, Lapis, and Peridot." Said Jeff.
"Um...nice to meet you. I'm Martin." Said Martin.
"We're just some travelers looking for a place to stay. You wouldn't happen to know where the nearest village or city is would you?" Said Jeff.
"I do actually." Said Martin.
"Are you a local?" Asked Lapis.
"Well I lived on this planet for a couple of years and I just recently came back from some traveling." Said Martin.
"Could you lead us to a village or city?" Asked Peridot.
"Tell you what I'll lead you to someplace better. I'll take you four directly to the Capitol. This planet is in the midst of an invasion, so the Capitol is the safest place to be. I know the ruler of this planet very well and she'll see that your all looked after and taken care of." Said Martin.
"Why thank you dry much. We would really appreciate it." Said Jeff.
"Thank you." Said Mimi with a bow.
"No problem." Said Martin.
The group lead by Martin headed out. Martin was feeling good about himself at the moment. He was leading a group of weary travelers someplace safe and it gave him an opportunity to show his wife and son that he was still a good guy and many they would allow him to come into the palace and try to make things right with them. It was a big maybe, but Martin had his hopes up.
On the way through the woods, Martin decided to ask what brought the four travelers to Olympia. Peridot decided that she was going to tell the truth and explained her past connection with the planet, how she escaped in a escape pod, got captured by Dr. AGE, freed Lapis, how she and Lapis escaped and ended up on Planet Olympia, and now how she planned to seek redemption by asking for forgiveness from the defenders and by pledging her services and skills to them. Martin was impressed with this, since he could understand a desire for redemption. Jeff then decided to tell about himself and Mimi. Martin listened as Jeff talked about how he was a member of a team of heroes, then he became Mimi's babysitter/friend, how Mimi's biological father, Him showed up infected Mim with devil essence making her kill her mother Blossom, got taken to the Land of Tainted Souls, Jeff getting the devil essence out of Mimi, and how they both fled to another dimension and ended up on Olympia.
"Whoa...that was seriously messed up. What kind of monster does that to his own kid?" Said Martin.
"Him is no father to Mimi. That guy may have created Mimi, but he was never a real father to her." Said Jeff with a slight scowl.
"What do you mean?" Asked Martin.
"Well to me a father should be more then something that's more to a child then just a blood relation. A father should be kind and protect their children. A father's duty is to raise and love their children with all their hearts. Him has done none of those things and for that he lost any right to be called a father. As far as I'm concerned Dexter, was Mimi's father, since he did everything a father should do for their child." Said Jeff.
"Well...I don't have much of a right to call myself a father or a husband, after what I did." Said Martin.
"What are you talking about?" Asked Jeff.
Martin began to talk about how he betrayed Atalanta's trust and got his son teleported to another planet, when he was a baby, then he found his son as a teenager and tried to use him to become rich, which resulted in Finn becoming badly injured and betrayed, Martin got arrested and thrown in a dungeon, how he returned to Olympia, and then how he got banished from the Capitol.
"I really messed...up big time with Atalanta and Finn." Said Martin as a tear fell from his eyes.
"That might be true, but now your trying to fix things with them. I'm sure a part of them wants to five you and once you sit down and talk, maybe you can work things out." Said Jeff.
"Maybe, but right now my job is to get you to the safety of the Capitol." Said Martin.
"Alright. One step at a time. Will make it to the Capitol and then will see about trying to work thing out with your son and wife." Said Jeff.
So the little odd group continued on their way towards the Capitol.
