I thought it might be nice to look at things with some fresh eyes. Here's an interim chapter before we return to our regularly scheduled fanfiction.
Agrronie: Nope, she's Leaf Green, based on the female player character from FireRed and LeafGreen, crazy heroine of one of my previous stories.
Just a Bad Writer for Fun: Who can say? It will certainly be an interesting match, one can hope.
Hellraiserphoenix: Mirar has only one pokemon, but it will be a one on one battle, so Sylvia will only have one pokemon as well. Think of it like sudden death. So Mirar will use whatever Sylvia uses.
Aakareo Kokokuhikari: Sylvia's definitely one for interesting strategies and tactics. That being said, it won't be a 6 v. 6. It will be a 1 v. 1, because that's how Mirar fights his battles.
JoshGamerV: It could go either way. Mirar's definitely always victorious in his single battles, but Sylvia's one for great strategies for victory. It could really go either way.
Pokemon Academy: Beginning of Beginnings
Bonus Chapter 2: Murenase! Pokemon Gakuen
Blake Harker stared up at the gates of the Pokemon Academy, and let out a sigh. A school for Pokemon, where Pokemon of all kinds went about their daily lives together. However, there are constant pokemon battles between different species. Within the school, it's basically survival of the fittest.
Unfortunately for Blake, humans happen to be the species that are the least common attending the Pokemon Academy.
Blake looked around, and sighed. There were pokemon everywhere, of various kinds. Running about, playing with each other, it was all completely nuts. With the huge disparity of some pokemon, it just felt… out of place being a human. He didn't have any special moves, or any abilities. He was just some guy. Why did he even come to this school in the first place? Looking back on it… he really didn't belong here. Plus, he was transferring in in the middle of the year. A weird human, coming in halfway through the term? He should probably just go home…
Blake let out a sigh and turned to leave. Might as well skip the first day… but then tomorrow would be the first day… well, he might as well skip that, too…
"You there, human!" A voice called out. Blake turned to see someone standing in front of the large fountain in the center of the school plaza, her arms crossed over her chest. She gestured eagerly for him to approach. When he stayed where he was, she strolled over to him.
The girl had dark purple hair that reached down to her shoulders, with two large purple cat ears sticking out of the top. Her eyes were a bright green and they glistened with an excited mischievousness. Her long, purple tail flicked back and forth as she assessed him with an appraising smile.
"How… how do you know I'm human?" Blake asked, confused.
"Look around you," the girl said, gesturing to the other male students, who came in a variety of shapes and sizes. The female students, in turn, all looked rather similar to Blake, walking on two legs and possessing two arms. In short, they all looked vaguely human, just like him. But Blake was male. Which made him a human by default.
He nodded in admission of that fact. The girl's smile widened.
"My name is Cynthia Fafnir," she introduced herself. "I'm a Purrloin. What's your name?"
"Blake," Blake replied. "Blake Harker."
The Purrloin, Cynthia, licked her lips as her eyes flickered across his body, sidling up to him. She was shorter than he was by about a head, craning her neck up to look at him. Her tail wrapped around his leg in a way that was rather uncomfortable, and he felt the urge to push her back.
"You're new here, aren't you?" Cynthia asked. "I'd know if there was a human attending here."
Blake nodded, Cynthia licking her lips again.
"Come with me," she said, grabbing him by the wrist. She turned and walked down the sidewalk, pulling him behind her.
"Hey! What are you doing?" Blake demanded.
"Most pokemon like hanging out with their own kind," Cynthia informed him. "Or at least stick with pokemon of their own types! But you're human! Which means you're gonna spend all your time here alone, without making friends."
"Oi!"
"You know I'm right," Cynthia smirked. "That's why, join my club! We're looking for new members right now!"
"Wait, I don't-"
"No arguments!" Cynthia overruled his objections, smacking him in the face with her tail. Blake let out a sigh of defeat.
"Well, then at least let me walk there on my own," he bargained. Cynthia shook her head.
"Nope, because then it's not like I caught you," she explained. "I found you, so I'm going to bring you back! Nyahaha!"
As the girl cackled madly, Blake let out a sigh, wondering how exactly he'd ended up in this situation.
"Here we are!" Cynthia said, standing in front of the door to her clubroom. "This is where we meet up! I Expect you to come four days out of the week! Wednesdays, it's fine if you don't show up!"
"'Poke-Poke Literature Club'?" Blake read the sloppily drawn sign over the door in confusion. "What the heck is a literature club for in this school? Do pokemon even read?"
"Eh?! What's with this anti-Pokemon bias?!" Cynthia growled. "Let me show you what we do!"
She swung the door open and stepped inside, presenting the clubroom to Blake. "Look, everybody! I brought us a brand new club member!"
"Uweeh?!" A small Skitty in the corner let out a gasp, her face turning bright red. She short girl had pink hair cut down to her shoulders and large pink ears sticking out of it. Her long tail had a large pink bump at the end, resembling a small paw, and it flailed about, the hairs standing on end in caution. She squeezed her red eyes shut and ran behind a desk, flustered.
"Hey, Kitty! Don't just run and hide all the time someone new comes in!" Another girl barked harshly at her. She had long black hair that fell down her back, held in place by two curved white horns curled up out of her forehead. She had angry golden eyes and a perpetual snarl on her face, which seemed to scare the poor thing even more. Her spade-tipped tail flicked from behind her skirt, cutting through the air. She turned to Blake, and let out a growl.
"B-but I've n-never seen a pokemon like that…" The Skitty, aptly named Kitty, cried, peeking up from behind the desk.
"That doesn't mean you just hide!" The snarling Houndoom shouted at her.
"Leave her alone, Julia, you're the one who's scaring her even more!" Cynthia frowned.
"Uwweeeeeeh~" Kitty was sobbing now. The taller pokemon, Julia, looked a little ashamed, turning away from the two cats.
"Er… sorry," Julia apologized. She instead focused her ire on Blake. "But who is this guy? And why did you bring him here?"
"Well, because we need club members, obviously," Cynthia said, rolling her eyes. She sidled up to Blake and rubbed her head against his chest, purring. "As many as we can get! If we want to get our book done in time for the culture festival, we need more members! Everyone else is busy with their other clubs, so they hardly ever show up!"
"Yeah, but we don't do anything here," Julia said. "You don't even like reading. This is basically just a place where you come to hang out and sleep.
"Don't tell him that!" Cynthia exclaimed, her tail standing on end as her cheeks flushed. She coughed, and turned back to Blake.
"Anyway, Blake, in the Poke-Poke Literature Club, we basically spend all our time reading books. Or, more like just hang around and relax. We don't really have much in the way of club activities… but for the culture festival, we decided to try something new!"
"The Eight Leaders told us if we didn't show any results from our club activities at the culture festival, they'd take our club room away," Julia corrected. Cynthia hissed at her, and received a snarl in return.
"Yeah, sorry, I'm not that interested in writing books, or reading them, either," Blake said, shaking his head. "So I'm just going to go."
"Liar!" Cynthia hissed. "You like reading just fine! Otherwise, why would you be carrying this?"
Cynthia held up a large book titled "Making Friends with All Types of Pokemon."
"Wha…" Blake's mouth fell open and his face turned red. "Where… how-?!"
He dropped his backpack and dug around inside it, but the book he'd been carrying with him was gone, in Cynthia's possession.
"Nyahaha, you liar!" Cynthia cackled. "You wouldn't be carrying around a book like this unless you liked reading and liked pokemon! So stop being so tsundere and join already!"
"Give me my book back!" Blake said, snatching the book out of her hands. "You dirty thief!"
"Uwa…" Cynthia gasped, shocked. "Are… are you mad at me?!"
"Why wouldn't I be?!"
"I… I'm sowwy…" Cynthia sobbed, tears welling up in her big eyes as she knelt on the ground, staring up at Blake with a sorrowful, pleading expression. Blake's cheeks turned pink, and he glanced away from her.
"It-it's fine," he sighed. "It's not that big a deal."
When Blake wasn't looking, Cynthia flashed a wicked smile of victory. Just a little more needling and he'd be all theirs…
Pokedex Entry #509, Purrloin: They steal from people for fun, but their victims can't help but forgive them. Their deceptively cute act is perfect.
"Is it really so bad to just join?" Cynthia asked, rising to her feet and rubbing her head against his chest. Her tail flicked up, tickling his side. "Come on, it's not like you have anything better to do, right? Is there another club you'd like to join?"
"Well, I mean, I guess not…"
"And it's fine with the others, right?" Cynthia asked, turning to Julia and Kitty.
"Er… um… I guess so… but… I don't know… maybe…?" Kitty glanced between Blake and the ground, obviously very nervous. Clearly she was uncomfortable with his presence, but she also didn't want to make a big deal about it.
Pokedex Entry #300, Skitty: It is said to be difficult to earn its trust. However, it is extremely popular for its cute looks and behavior.
"If you don't want him here, then say so!" Julia growled. "Stop being so indecisive!"
"Uweeeh!" Kitty cried, running and hiding behind the desk again.
"W-wait, Kitty, sorry, I didn't mean to!" Julia cried, her snarling face twisting with guilt.
Pokedex Entry #229, Houndoom: Upon hearing its eerie howls, other Pokémon get the shivers and head straight back to their nests.
"IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!" Julia cried. "I didn't mean to! I'm not a bad person!"
Pokedex Entry #229, Houndoom: Long ago, people imagined its eerie howls to be the call of the grim reaper.
"SHUT UP!" Julia shouted at the pokedex. "Isn't there anything nice to say about me?!"
Julia panted, small traces of flame spitting from her mouth.
Blake really just wanted to leave. These cats and dogs were a pain in the ass, and if he stayed here, he'd probably be in serious trouble.
"Come on, stay," Cynthia said, wrapping her arms around Blake's arm, staring up at him hopefully. Her cute smile was making it really difficult to say no to her.
"I… I guess I could help out," Blake sighed. "I mean, you guys look pretty short on people."
Cynthia cheered with joy.
"Unfortunately, the other members of our club are busy working with their primary clubs," Julia sighed. "They're all ghost members."
"So it's just the three of you?" Blake asked, surprised.
"Wrong! There's four of us!" Cynthia objected. "Nikita's here, too! But she's really shy."
Blake looked around, but he could see this supposed Nikita anywhere.
"Oh, she's right here!" Cynthia said, reaching down behind a desk. "Come on!"
Blake followed her, and saw a small hole had been buried in the floor.
"Nikita, come meet our newest club member!" Cynthia called. She glanced back at Blake. "She's a Diglett, so she's really shy."
"Um… h-hello…" a head slowly emerged from the hole, staring up at Blake. The girl was trembling almost as much as Kitty was. She had brown skin and equally brown hair cut into a bowl-cut, and her black eyes looked like they were about to cry. "N-no! I can't do it!" She wailed, ducking her head back into the hole. The sounds of digging could be heard echoing out of it as the small pokemon made an escape.
"She's not good with new people either," Cynthia sighed.
Pokedex Entry #050, Diglett: It lives about one yard underground where it feeds on plant roots. It sometimes appears aboveground.
Is this club just for people who suck at communicating with others? Blake asked himself.
"We've also got Sango, Reiner, and Nick, but they're all busy helping out with their clubs right now," Cynthia said. "So you might not get a chance to see them, but-"
Suddenly, the door slammed open, and a girl ran into the room, panting.
"What's going on?!" The tall girl exclaimed. "Is everyone okay?!"
"Wow, speak of the devil," Cynthia whistled. "Hey, Sango! I thought you had club?"
The girl, Sango, stepped inside, pausing to catch her breath. She had white hair cut very short, draping over the left side of her face to partially cover one of her red eyes. A dark blue, nearly black, fringe of hair hung down over her forehead. On the right side of her face, a curved blade stuck out from behind her ear, curling up and around her head. Another curved blade hung from her waist, resembling a tail. Her eyes were filled with worry.
"I did," she said, glancing around the room suspiciously. "But then I felt that something bad was happening here, and I came to see if someone needed my help!"
Pokedex Entry #359, Absol: It senses coming disasters and appears before people only to warn them of impending danger.
"Nah, nothing bad's going down!" Cynthia chortled, shaking her head. She rubbed up lovingly against Blake, purring. "We just got a new member, that's all!"
Sango glanced at Blake, and blushed.
This… this beating in my chest… how is this possible? In the main story, I fell in love with Blake over the course of more than seventy chapters… but now, seeing him here, it's like… love at first sight? Is… is this true? No… this feeling… this sensation… it's my horn telling me that if I ask him on a date, then disaster is sure to follow…
"Blake!" Sango stormed across the room and grabbed him by the hands.
"Y-yes?"
"You need to go," Sango said, her tone adamant and the look in her eyes not one to argue with. "Right now."
"Wh-why?"
"I can sense it! If you remain in this club, then disaster will surely befall you!" Sango exclaimed.
"Sango, don't scare him off!" Cynthia cried, scratching at her. "Ignore her! She uses that disaster ability to help out as a Probationary Ranger in the Pokemon Survival Club, but really it's just her constantly worrying about every little thing!"
"I'm being realistic!" Sango snarled.
"You're just a pessimist!"
The two girls glared at each other. Julia rolled her eyes.
"Overruled! Blake is already in the club! I'm the president, and I say so!" Cynthia hissed. "We need his help for the Club Book!"
"Club Book?" Blake asked.
"Yeah, like I said, we're doing something for the culture festival," Cynthia said. "So the plan was, we're going to go to a bunch of different clubs, and get our impressions of them down on a book! Then, when we the culture festival comes, we'll hand out the books out to the guests, and they can learn about what all the clubs are doing!"
"Surprising, right? She actually has a pretty good idea," Sango said, Cynthia hissing at her.
"So why do you need my help?" Blake asked.
"Well, we need people to go around and interview the different clubs, right? But unfortunately, like, half of our members are doing other club activities, and as for the rest… Kitty and Nikita, no way they can approach people without running away in fear. And as for Julia…"
"What about me?!" Julia snarled.
"…Everyone will run if she gets close," Cynthia explained.
"…What about you?" Blake asked, frowning.
"…The club president needn't bother herself with such menial tasks," Cynthia cackled.
Blake's eye twitched in irritation, and he stormed towards the door.
"Wait! Don't leave!" Cynthia mewled.
"I'll go after him," Sango sighed, following after Blake. She caught up with him, placing a hand on his shoulder. "What's up? I know Cynthia's annoying, but are you really that upset?"
"That damn cat is a troll," Blake sighed. "She's just using me, I get that."
"But she means well," Sango defended her. "Blake…"
"You're human! Which means you're gonna spend all your time here alone, without making friends. That's why, join my club!"
Blake turned to her.
"Look… I'll help, I guess," Blake said. "I know she's not that bad. She just really pisses me off."
"That she does," Sango laughed. She reached into her shirt pocket, withdrawing her phone. "Don't worry, I've got a list of all the clubs we need to interview. I'll help you out, so don't worry! We'll start out with a club I know quite well, the Pokemon Survival Club!"
Pokemon Survival Club
"An interview?" The president of the Pokemon Survival Club, a ferocious Haxorus named Erik, towered over Sango and Blake. His golden scales glistened in the forest sunlight, and his red eyes pierced through the both of them, his fangs curved into a smile.
"Y-yes…" Blake swallowed, more than a little intimidated by the pokemon. Erik's thick tail swung behind him, and a gust of wind blew through the air, another pokemon touching down.
"Come on now, Erik, you're scaring the poor guy," another pokemon, a large Tropius, flew down beside Erik, his leafy wings kicking up a gust of air. "Hello there. My name is Andre. Banana?"
The Tropius, Andre, lowered his long neck, presenting fruit to Blake and Sango.
Pokedex Entry #357, Tropius: The bunches of fruit around Tropius's neck are very popular with children. This Pokémon loves fruit, and eats it continuously. Apparently, its love for fruit resulted in its own outgrowth of fruit.
"Uh… pass," Blake said, shaking his head.
"We were wondering what the club was planning to do for the culture festival," Sango asked.
"You're one of us, don't you know?" Erik asked. Sango grinned sheepishly.
"Yeah, but… we still need to hear it from you."
"Well, see over there? What Aidan is doing?" Erik pointed one of his claws at a large rock wall erected near the forest entrance. A bulky Machoke was scaling it expertly.
"Whoa, a rock wall?" Blake asked, surprised. Erik nodded.
"It's a lot of fun," Andre added. "Allegedly, anyway."
"Must be nice having wings," Sango said dryly.
"Can I try?" Blake asked, interested. Erik and Andre glanced at each other.
"Sure, why not?" Erik shrugged, his bulky body heading towards the wall to prepare the equipment.
Sango blinked, and put a hand on Blake's shoulder.
"Sorry… but you probably shouldn't."
"Why not?" Blake asked.
"I just got a feeling… that if you try climbing that thing… it's gonna be a disaster," Sango shivered.
"I'd trust her instincts, if I were you," Andre laughed. "Nice to meet you, human! Good luck with the rest of your interviews!"
"See you guys later!" Sango said, waving to her clubmates as she and Blake headed off. "Okay, I think that the next place we can go… should probably be the Gardening Club, since that's pretty close by."
Blake nodded in agreement, and the two headed towards the nearby Roselia Gardens.
Pokemon Gardening Club
"Absolutely not," the girl standing in front of the garden entrance snarled. "You think we're going to let some filthy human male enter our queen's sanctuary?!"
The rude objector had messy blue hair that fell over her face in layers, with purple fringes sticking out all over the place. Her golden-green eyes were glaring angrily at Blake, and she gnashed her sharp teeth at him. A thin yellow horn stuck out of the top of her head, oozing with poison. Blake swallowed. This girl looked ready to attack.
"Do not be so rude, Kate," a calm voice called from behind the angry Mareanie. "They're here for the interview, is it?"
"Yes, milady," the poisonous pokemon sighed, stepping out of the way and permitting them entrance into the garden. "But if you do anything to offend her highness, be prepared to get so baldy poisoned you'll never recover!"
Pokedex Entry #747, Mareanie: It plunges the poison spike on its head into its prey. When the prey has weakened, Mareanie deals the finishing blow with its 10 tentacles.
Led by the girl, Kate, Sango and Blake arrived at a small clearing in the center of the garden. Sitting at a gazebo, sipping from some tea, was the club president, Alcea Vermeil.
"You've come to inquire about our club activities, is it?" She asked, rising to her feet. Beneath her uniform, she had shiny maroon tights made of fine leather slipped over her long legs, to give off an intimidating and dominating air. She had long, gorgeous green hair falling down her back, and a maroon crown on her head to give her a regal air. What was most intimidating, however, was her cold, pink eyes, staring intensely at the two.
"Yeah," Blake said, nodding. As intimidating as the woman was, she was still better than the dino-dragon leading the Pokemon Survival Club, and he was able to talk with her on a more comfortable level.
"We don't need to explain anything to them," Kate scowled. Alcea silenced her with a glare.
"Our plan, very simple, is it?" Alcea murmured. "We will guide visitors on a tour through our expansive garden. Would you like to take one yourselves?"
Blake and Sango glanced at each other, and shrugged.
"Sure, I guess," Sango said.
"Sounds like fun," Blake nodded.
"Excellent. Enjoy yourselves," Alcea smiled. "But be careful of where you step. If you trample but one flower…"
Alcea stomped the ground, sending an intimidating shockwave through the air. A hole had been made in the gazebo floor.
"…No mercy, is it?"
Blake and Sango gulped, Sango's disaster radar going off the charts.
Pokedex Entry #763, Tsareena: This feared Pokémon has long, slender legs and a cruel heart. It shows no mercy as it stomps on its opponents.
"A-actually, we have a lot of clubs to get to," Sango said. "L-let's go, okay Blake?"
Blake nodded, he and Sango running off before they inadvertently did something to turn the dominating queen's wrath towards them. Kate's cackling laughter echoed in their ears as they ran.
"Oh? Leaving so soon?" They ran past a Carnivine, dressed not in her normal uniform but in a fancy green, red, and yellow kimono. Her leafy green hair ruffled in the wind as she watched them leave with her beady black eyes, her tongue slipping past her sharp teeth to lick her lips. "What a pity…"
Naya shrugged, turned, and walked towards where Alcea and Kate were relaxing.
Once they left the garden, Blake and Sango paused for a moment to catch their breath.
"Is everyone here this scary?" Blake asked.
Sango looked aside, unable to answer him satisfactorily.
"…Let's go to the next place," Sango said, wrapping her arms around Blake's arm, laying her head down on his shoulder.
"…What are you doing?" Blake asked. Sango blushed.
"Er… I just had a sensation, that if I don't walk with you like this… things are going to be a disaster, yes!" Sango's lie was very obvious, but Blake didn't seem to notice.
"Excuse me…"
Sango and Blake turned to see a girl slowly walking up to them. Her uniform was shabby, and she wore a raggedy, faded yellow shawl over it. The hood of the shawl was pulled over her head, obscuring most of her face, everything but her mouth and chin. Hair of the same color peaked out from under the hood. Her face was covered, but the hood was distinct. Two crooked ears with black tips pointed out from it, and scrawled on the face of the hood-mask were two black eyes, a crooked smile, and red cheeks.
"Are you a Pikachu?" Blake asked, surprised. Sango fell a twinge of danger from that comment.
"N-no, I… I'm not…" the girl said softly, her voice sounding like she was going to cry. She pulled the hood further down her face. "M-my name… is Elaina… Bishop… and I was wondering… do you know where the Gym Leader Training Club is?"
Sango and Blake glanced at each other. Sango released Blake and nodded, walking over to her. "Sure! In fact, we can show you the way!"
"R-really?" The girl asked, tilting her head up to look at the Absol from behind her mask. "Th-thank you… But are you sure?"
"Of course!" Sango said, placing a hand on Elaina's back, and leading her over to Blake. "We were headed there anyway!"
"Nice to meet you," Blake said, introducing himself. "My name is Blake. I'm human, actually. Not a pokemon."
"Elaina," the girl said. "Pikachu ja nai… yo Mimikyu dayo… But… even so, is that… okay?"
"Sure, why not?" Blake asked, confused. Elaina's face brightened from behind her mask, overjoyed.
Pokedex Entry #778, Mimikyu: A lonely Pokémon, it conceals its terrifying appearance beneath an old rag so it can get closer to people and other Pokémon.
Sango and Blake guided the Mimikyu, Elaina, to the battlefield where the Pokemon Gym Leader Training Club was practicing.
Pokemon Gym Leader Training Club
"Hey, Sango, I have a question," Blake said, a look of confusion on his face.
"What?" Sango asked.
"What's a Gym? And for that matter, what's a Gym Leader?"
"…Dunno," Sango said, equally confused.
"Th-thank you," Elaina said, bowing her head. She ran over to a small Tyrunt, and greeted the little dinosaur pokemon.
"What?! Who are they?!" The Tyrunt demanded, turning and glaring at Blake and Sango.
"Sorry, president, that girl is a club member for my other club." A large Claydoll floated over to the Tyrunt, who stormed over to Blake and Sango, jumping up angrily.
"Hey, Reiner," Sango said, waving at the big, round black pokemon. The Claydoll's many pink faces were imperceptible, as opposed to the angry Tyrunt, who was quite clearly yelling something at them, though they weren't listening.
"Who's this?" Blake asked, pointing at the small pokemon.
"Our club president, Gerard," Reiner said.
"Why am I a Tyrunt?!" Gerard exclaimed, his puny body thrashing angrily. "Someone of my magnitude in the main story should be a Tyrantrum at the very least, or perhaps a Tyranitar! I will not accept this!"
Pokedex Entry #696, Tyrunt: This Pokémon was restored from a fossil. If something happens that it doesn't like, it throws a tantrum and runs wild.
"Reiner, this is Blake, a human," Sango said, ignoring the whining runt. "He just joined the Poke-Poke Literature Club. Cynthia roped him into conducting the interviews of the various clubs."
"So I'm assuming you want to know what we're doing?" Reiner asked. "Well… that's complicated."
Reiner turned his body to where a Magmar was fighting against a Scraggy.
"Austin and Will are currently having a match against each other," Reiner indicated the two students. "We were going to have pokemon fighting against each other, and take on any challengers, but…"
"You thieves!" A voice shouted, Blake and Sango turning to see two students running towards them. A Tyrogue was following behind a female Mienfoo. The girl had blonde hair cut short, with two black spots on her forehead, and angry brown eyes. Two small yellow ears stuck out of the sides of her head, and a thin yellow tail with two red tips poked out from her skirt. She snarled at the Tyrunt, pushing past Sango and Blake.
"Nick? What are you doing here?" Sango asked, surprised. The Tyrogue gave her a sheepish look, his pink skin turning a deeper red. His golden eyes looked down, and it was clear that he wasn't entirely comfortable with what his companion was doing.
"Callie… er, I mean, the president… she said that the Pokemon Gym Leader Training Club stole her idea… and so right now, she's…"
He gestured to the Mienfoo, Callie, who was attacking the Tyrunt with everything she had, Reiner getting between the two of them.
Pokedex Entry #619, Mienfoo: In fights, they dominate with onslaughts of flowing, continuous attacks. With their sharp claws, they cut enemies.
"Well, she's certainly energetic," Sango laughed.
"I understand the feeling, to be honest," Nick said, his eyes shining eagerly. "I want to join in, too!"
Sango grabbed him on the shoulder, stopping him before he made things even worse.
Pokedex Entry #236, Tyrogue: To brush up on its fighting skills, it will challenge anyone. It has a very strong competitive spirit.
"No need to worry," a voice said. "When those two settle down, we will get things under control."
Sango and Blake glanced at the approaching woman, the vice-president, Gabrielle. She had long, white hair and bright blue eyes, and wore a white kimono instead of her normal uniform, tied with a large red ribbon and decorated in bright blue snowflakes. Her expression was calm, and her eyes were shining like ice, matching the chunks of ice sticking out from her hair like ears.
The beautiful Froslass gave a small smile, gesturing to Gerard and Callie's skirmish, which had now turned into a full-on brawl.
"I believe we will have a joint activity," Gabrielle said. "Both clubs working together for a series of exhibition matches, and then taking on all challengers. That should be an adequate way of passing an olive branch between the two of them."
Sango and Blake nodded, satisfied with this response, and then left before they got dragged into the fight as well. Nick was already a lost cause, at that point.
"Can we go to a club with a little less… danger?" Blake begged. Sango giggled, and nodded.
"The next one is one we get along with pretty well," Sango smiled. "It's the Pokemon Friends Club. That should be perfectly harmless."
"Good, anything is better than this," Blake said, glancing back worriedly at the battling pokemon. This was certainly not a school where humans could hold their own, that was for sure.
Pokemon Friends Club
"Hey, guys!" A bubbly pokemon waved to them, smiling, as they entered the clubroom of the Pokemon Friends Club.
"This is Elizabeth, a Brionne," Sango introduced Blake to the sophomore. The Brionne had light blue hair tied up into two pigtails rolling down her back, with bright white tips. Her bright pink eyes were shining, and she greeted Blake with a big smile.
"You can call me Eli," she said. "Welcome to the Pokemon Friends Club! …Sadly, most of our members in the main canon were swallowed by the Poke-Poke Literature Club so it's just Serefina, Rafe, and I, but what can you do…"
Clearly, Eli was a little disappointed, her pink eyes a little sad.
"D-don't worry, Eli! We're still doing our best!" Serefina burst into the room, her cheeks bright red with embarrassment. Her curvaceous body was squeezed into the uniform until it nearly burst, a bright white cotton tail sticking out of her skirt. She had long brown hair and large brown ears sticking out of her head, the ears curving down toward the ground like pigtails, the tips covered in soft, silky tan fur. She was clearly embarrassed, but she smiled kindly at the two newcomers.
Blake blushed as he eyed the Lopunny, Serefina flinching uncomfortably, fidgeting under his gaze.
"Is… is something wrong? Is my hair out of place?! Oh, no, is my uniform strained? I just knew I grew again, oh bother!"
Pokedex Entry #428, Lopunny: It is very conscious of its looks and never fails to groom its ears. It runs with sprightly jumps.
"Don't worry, Seri, you look great!" Eli said, shaking her head, patting her friend on the back. "Flawless! You're gorgeous as always, don't worry!"
"Th-thanks, Eli," Serefina blushed, smiling.
Pokedex Entry #729, Brionne: It cares deeply for its companions. When its Trainer is feeling down, it performs a cheery dance to try and help.
"Sorry to bother you guys, we were just wondering what your plans were for the festival," Sango inquired.
"Making friends, of course." Sitting down at his desk and reading a book was the club president, Rafe Crawford. The Slowking glanced up at them, smiling kindly with a big dopey expression on his face, giving them a wave.
"…And what does that entail?" Sango asked.
"Not sure yet," Rafe smiled. "But let's not worry about it."
Serefina and Eli sighed, shrugging their shoulders.
"…That's the whole of it," Serefina said. "We got nothing."
"Sorry we couldn't be of much help," Eli apologized.
"Don't be," Sango said, shaking her head, smiling. "This is the least amount of danger we've been in all day! You guys were the best!"
"Uh, thanks?" Serefina said, tilting her head to the side.
"Come back any time!" Eli bubbled, waving at the two as they left.
"There's another club in this building we can check out, too," Sango said. "The Newspaper Club. But they're a little… odd."
"Dangerous?" Blake asked. Sango shook her head.
"I don't feel any disasters on the horizon… still, best be cautious."
Pokemon Newspaper Club
Sango led Blake down the hall and to the second floor, where the Newspaper Club was located. They could hear quite the racket coming from behind the door.
"-You ass!" A woman's voice rang out as Sango opened the door, followed by a clatter. A chair struck the wall right beside the doorway, Sango and Blake jumping in surprise.
"Dakota, you bitch!"
The two entered the room, seeing two students thrashing at each other.
"How could you write that?!" A large white pokemon with deep red scars across his body snarled, swiping his violet claws at a female student.
"You deserve it, Akira, you shithead!" The other pokemon chortled. She had black hair with golden streaks and red eyes that glistened with malice. A long black tail with gold markings emerged from her waist, violet scars tracing across it. The tip of the tail was curved into a wicked, dark red blade.
Pokedex Entry #335, Zangoose: Zangoose usually stays on all fours, but when angered, it gets up on its hind legs and extends its claws. This Pokémon shares a bitter rivalry with Seviper that dates back over generations.
Pokedex Entry #336, Seviper: Seviper shares a generations-long feud with Zangoose. The scars on its body are evidence of vicious battles. This Pokémon attacks using its sword-edged tail.
Dakota and Akira attacked each other angrily, while the rest of the club ignored them, including the oozy pink blob of a Ditto sitting at the president's desk.
Sango and Blake looked at each other.
"Let's just go," Sango said, Blake nodding in agreement.
The two exited the building, walking across campus.
"Where next?" Blake asked.
"We only have a few clubs left," Sango said, glancing at her phone. "I think the closest one is… Oh! Yeah, let's go there! I can introduce you to my friend, Marion!"
Pokemon Fishing Club
Sango led Blake to the beach, staring up at the large aquarium on the water's edge. A large basket of fishing rods were set up next to the dock, indicating that the Fishing Club's plans for the culture festival would most likely involve some sort of fishing trial run, but the club president herself was nowhere to be seen.
"Where's Marion?" Sango asked, confused.
A cawing sound could be heard in the distance, a shadow appearing overhead. A rustle of blue feathers, and a figure swooped down from the sky, diving toward the water. The girl flapped her magnificent blue wings and picked herself up, flying toward the shore. She landed in front of Sango, a fish in her mouth. The girl had tan skin and sea-green eyes, and her hair was a wild, feathery mane of blue to match the large blue wings sticking out of her back. She swallowed, the tail of a fish slipping down her throat.
"Sango, hey girl! What's up?" Marion greeted Sango with a smile. "Come here for some fishing?"
"Nah, we're here for an interview."
"What's that?" Marion asked, tilting her head to the side. "A type of fish?"
Sango face palmed, shaking her head.
"We just wanted to see what your club was going to be doing for the culture festival." Sango had a fairly good idea of what the answer was going to be.
"Fishing!"
Yup, that was about right.
Pokedex Entry #845, Cramorant: This hungry Pokémon swallows Arrokuda whole. Occasionally, it makes a mistake and tries to swallow a Pokémon other than its preferred prey.
Marion tilted her head to the side, noticing Blake for the first time.
"Hey! You're new! Hi, I'm Marion Rivers! I'm a Cramorant! Would you like to fish?!"
Sango giggled, Blake staring at the airheaded girl in confusion.
"N-no, thanks, not right now."
"Well, come back if you change your mind!" Marion giggled, flapping her wings and flying up into the air, turning back to the water for more fishing.
Blake and Sango headed to the next club on the list, the Pokemon Computer Club.
Pokemon Computer Club
Entering the Sandbox, where the Pokemon Computer Club was located, Blake was greeted with the sight of a rather odd girl. She had round hair that was layered in blue on the left side and pink on the right, reaching down to her shoulders. She looked at both of them as though she were assessing the two, monitoring their every movement.
Pokedex Entry #233, Porygon2: It was created by humans using the power of science. It has been given artificial intelligence that enables it to learn new gestures and emotions on its own.
"Greetings. I am Misato Daisan," the Porygon2, Misato, greeted them. "Spelled 'Beauty' and 'Wisdom' as well as 'The Third'."
"Shouldn't that be 'The Second'?" Blake asked.
"Negative. Although I am a Porygon2, I am still The Third." Misato answered. Blake rolled his eyes.
"You guys came by just in time," a voice called from over in the corner. Blake and Sango turned to see a large Magnezone float up to them. His magnets were being used to levitate a disk in the air.
"Oscar has finished preparing my newest upgrade." Misato said, gesturing to the Magnezone, Oscar. "It should be capable of granting me new evolutions and progress beyond pokemon comprehension."
"Are you sure about this, Misato?" Oscar asked. "This program seems rather… dubious."
Another club member, a Sableye, nodded in agreement. He seemed equally troubled by what was going to happen.
"I don't think this is a good idea, either," he said, shaking his head.
"Daryl thinks so too," Oscar said. "Are you sure?"
"I am sure."
Sango's danger radar was going off the charts. She grabbed Blake by the wrist. "Let's go. Now."
Sango and Blake ran from the room, escaping the Sandbox fast enough to escape from a massive explosion that rocked the entire building. The two kept running, terrified of what had just happened.
"What the hell was that?!" Blake exclaimed.
"I don't know!" Sango shouted back. "Let's just run!"
The two kept running, and soon they reached the main section of campus. They didn't stop until Blake crashed into another student, knocking her to the ground. Blake stumbled back, Sango stopping him from falling over.
"Sorry!" Blake cried, walking over to the sprawled-out girl. "Are you okay?"
"I am fine," the girl murmured, staring up at him. She had shiny blonde hair falling down her back and over the right side of her face, overlaying the white medical mask that covered her skin. Her visible eye was a deep red, and looked dull and shallow. Her expression was calm and unbothered by the collision. Her large blonde fox ears twitched, and her nine tails spread out across the ground, forming a cushion for the impact she'd sustained.
"Hi," Blake said, extending a hand out to the girl. "I'm Blake. Sorry for running into you!"
"It is fine," she said, taking his hand, letting him help her to her feet. "I'm Caelia Auburne. Hello…"
"Sorry again," Blake said, smiling, he and Sango walking around the girl and heading off to the next location. "See you around!"
"See you…" she murmured, glancing down at her hand. It felt… hot.
"Blake…" Her cheeks flushed, a small smile crossing her face. She began repeating his name at a whisper, her eye shining.
Pokedex Entry #038, Ninetales: It is vindictive and relentless by nature. Those who cross it even once will be cursed for a thousand years, along with their descendants.
Pokemon Track and Field Club
"The Track and Field Club?" Blake asked, he and Sango walking down the hill towards the track ring.
Sango shivered. Something felt very, very bad. A disaster of untold magnitude was on the horizon. What was it…?
"Hey! If you aren't gonna run, what are you two doing here?!" A deep, harsh voice called from the track.
"Sorry about this…" a girl walked up to them, a horn erupting from her forehead and a long mane of fiery red hair cascading down her back. The Rapidash had a sheepish, apologetic look on her face. "The captain has been a little antsy lately…"
"I'm surprised the sports clubs are participating in the festival," Sango said. "Isn't it supposed to just be for the culture clubs?"
"Yeah, we're putting on a track meet," the Rapidash explained. "And the captain is a little…"
"Jamie!" The harsh voice shouted from the track. "Stop wasting time!"
"Sorry," the Rapidash apologized, heading back toward the track. She fired the starting gun and the pokemon standing on the line shot down the track like a fireball. When she reached a hundred meters she began to slow down, before coming to a stop.
"Time?!" She demanded.
"6.19," the Rapidash, Jamie, replied, checking the stopwatch.
"Now that what I'm talking about!" The captain of the track team boasted, smiling proudly. She was wearing the track uniform of a white shirt and orange shorts, with a fluffy white tail sticking out of the back. She had curly white hair with a large fringe of orange sticking up in the front. Her orange eyes were sparkling, and she had a handsome smile on her face. Two large white rabbit ears stuck out of her head, twitching with joy.
Pokedex Entry #815, Cinderace: It's skilled at both offense and defense, and it gets pumped up when cheered on. But if it starts showboating, it could put itself in a tough spot.
"Captain, these are some visitors for you," Jamie called out. The captain turned her head and ran over to the two, staring down at the freshmen.
"What do you guys want?" She asked, frowning.
"You're the captain of the Track and Field team?" Sango asked. "Ayame Toujou?"
"Damn right," Ayame boasted, smirking. "I'm the fastest racer around. Now, what do you want?"
She glanced at Blake, scowling. Blake blinked, confused. She seemed unnaturally hostile towards him.
"Is everything okay?" Blake asked. Sango's danger radar flared up.
"Of course it is!" Ayame growled, her cheeks flushing. "Wh-why wouldn't it be?!"
"Ignore her," Jamie said, coming up to the three of them to try and break things up. "She's a little antsy because she's in her heat cycle, and-"
"Jamie!" Ayame growled, kicking at the horse pokemon, Jamie letting out a neigh of laughter and dodging the flustered pokemon.
I don't like this… Sango shivered, glancing at Blake, and the expression on his face as he watched the rabbit pokemon's figure.
"L-let's go, okay?" Sango asked, grabbing Blake by the arm and pulling him away. "We know what they have planned, that's good enough!"
She'd been right. It was definitely a disaster to let those two meet, she knew that now.
"Ayame's a little too much to handle, that's for sure," a voice called out.
"Makes sense you'd want to leave," another voice piped up.
"Oi!" Ayame growled. "What are you two doing here?"
Two female students, one in white and one in blue, gave the two a wave from the top of the hill.
"We've come to do a special performance!" The girl in blue wore a blue dress with a wild white fur collar instead of the traditional uniform. She had sharp, windswept white hair reaching down to her shoulders, dark blue cat ears with white stripes sticking out from her head. Two blue tails with white tips stuck out from the back of her dress, and her green eyes were sparkling.
"For our two special interviewers!" The girl in white added. She wore a trim, white dress with a well-coiffed, styled blue collar. Her dark blue hair was perfectly curled and reached down to her shoulders, framing her two white cat ears nicely. Her twin tails had a dark blue base where they came out from her dress, and curled into large white curls at the ends. She had kind, amber eyes.
"Who are you guys?" Blake asked, confused.
"Darla Drake!" The girl in blue declared, winking. "A Meowstic!"
"And I'm Lila Seelie!" The girl in white added, also winking. "Also a Meowstic!"
The two Meowstics posed, giving winning smiles. They opened their mouths, a haunting melody ringing out. The disarming voice stunned Blake and Sango, the two blacking out.
Pokemon Beautification Club
Blake blinked, confused. Where was he? Oh, right… the Pokemon Academy. Why-?
"Ah, our guests are awake at last."
Blake and Sango woke up from their fugue, shaking their heads. They were in a beauty salon. Before the two was a large, fancy chair with a pokemon upon it. Darla and Lila flanked the chair.
Sitting regally was a beautiful blonde pokemon, her hair up in a double beehive hairdo that was held in place by a shining red gem, glistening the same color as her eyes. She wore an elegant black and yellow striped ballgown, large clear wings wrapped around her body as she was not, at the moment, flying. She moved up from her seat and flapped her wings, fluttering up to the two prone students.
Pokedex Entry #416, Vespiquen: It releases various pheromones to make the grubs in its body do its bidding while fighting foes.
"Greetings, dear guests," the pokemon purred. "Welcome to the Pokemon Beautification Club. I am Olivia Himeko. You may refer to me as Olivia."
"Why did you abduct us?" Sango asked.
"Well, you weren't planning to visit our club," Olivia said, shrugging her shoulders. "I was feeling… scorned."
"We only have so much page space," Sango replied.
"Still," Olivia frowned. "You could still make room."
She turned her head to Blake, smiling flirtatiously at him.
"You're the human, right?" Blake blushed, the pheromones she was exuding making… something rise up in him. "You humans… so lovely."
She ran her hand across his cheek.
"You're as pretty as a girl…" Olivia licked her lips, Blake's face turning bright red. Sango coughed, trying to get things back on track.
"I saw how you were looking at Ayame, you know," Olivia purred. "I think she'd be… receptive. She-"
"Boss!" Ayame burst into the room, panting. Her face was bright red.
"Ah, there she is," Olivia purred, pulling away from Blake. "Ayame! I found you a mate, aren't you happy?"
"M-" Sango gasped.
"M-mate?!" Ayame exclaimed.
"You are a Human-Type Egg Group, yes?" Olivia confirmed. "And he's human, is he not? You can make a whole adorable litter if you-"
"BOSS!" Ayame hissed, Olivia throwing back her head and laughing.
"You called us here so we can conduct an interview, didn't you?" Sango growled, trying to get her back on track a second time. "Then-"
"Oh, yes, the interview," Olivia said, finally returning to the topic at hand. "We were planning something quite marvelous. An exhibition, of course! A lovely display of the beauty of pokemon! With myself as the center attraction."
A swarm of bees flew from beneath Olivia's dress, floating into the form of a buzzing cloud around the two.
"I do so hope you give us a favorable advertisement in your little booklet," Olivia purred, the threat obvious.
"We-we will," Sango said, nodding.
"Marvelous!" Olivia smiled. "Ayame, please show them out. Unless, of course, you'd like for one of them to… stay a little longer?"
"Boss!" Ayame exclaimed, Olivia giggling. Ayame, embarrassed, led the two students out of the clubroom, at the ground floor of Olivia's dormitory.
"Is that everyone?" Blake asked. "All the clubs?"
Sango scanned her phone, and nodded. The two looked at each other, and sighed. It had been a long day. The two returned to the clubroom, and began working on writing the book.
A female student floated overhead, watching Sango and Blake depart. She had long orange hair covering her right eye, her left eye a bright gold. A single fringe of hair curled up above her head. Rather than the school uniform, she wore a brown and gold dress in Gothic Lolita style.
"A pity we could not make any appearance, Phantom," the girl said, floating down to the male Gengar observing the two students from the shadows. "That's just what happens when you don't join a club, I suppose."
"Indeed," the Phantom murmured, nodding. "Still, it was quite a nice time while it lasted."
"I didn't think about the Commander's people, either," the Gourgeist shrugged. "I don't care much for thinking about them~ oh well, time to get back to work~"
Sylvia woke up with a yawn, and stretched. It had been a rather nice dream indeed.
"Ah, late night anime is such a blessing," she purred, stripping off her black negligee, her skin glistening in the darklight she'd installed in her room. She walked to her closet, looking for the perfect dress for her match with Mirar that was to come. "With such a pleasant dream, today should be quite an enjoyment.
I thought it might be fun to try something different! Happy April Fools' Day! Things will get back on track tomorrow!
