Chapter 182 Claws and Fire

Mimi slept for a couple of hours and during that time she dreamed about Finn. Nega Mimi kept telling her that she could have Finn if she was willing to eliminate the fiery girl and take him by force. Mimi felt conflicted at first, but Nega Mimi hit her to side with her. As Nega Mimi talked, there was a tiny voice coming from far away, but Mimi couldn't make out what it was saying. The girl continued to dream and listen to Nega Mimi.
In another part of the palace, Peridot and Lapis had entered Techmo's lab. Peridot looked at all the various pieces of machinery in awe. Techmo looked up from a workable that had a robotic arm on it.
"Hey your the newcomers I heard about. I hear one of you is good with technology." Said Techmo
"That would be me. I'm Peridot." Said Peridot.
"I'm Lapis." Said Lapis.
"Nice to meet you both. I'm Techmo and welcome to my lab." Said Techmo.
"What are you working on?" Asked Lapis.
"A new arm. Ran into an old enemy of mine and his packing a super robotic body with thick armor. My current arm lacks the strength to cut through and do any real damage. You want to help me out Peridot?" Said Techmo.
"Certainly." Said Peridot as she found a stool and scooted it over to the work table to stand on.
The green gem began to help Techmo work on the robot arm. Lapis watched them for a little bit and smiled. It was good to see Lapis happy and back in her element. The blue gem then looked around at the workshop noticing various oil and chemical spills and stains on the tables and floors. The blue gem decided to clean and went over to a nearby sink summoning some water out of it with her powers and shaped it into a water copy of herself. Lapis made the clone wipe up the stains with it's watery body and then made the water go into the sink and down the drain. The lab was now clean of stains. The blue gem then saw a few scattered bits of machinery and bolts and decided to pick them up. As she was picking the pieces up Lapis saw a machine that looked like a radio and turned it on. Static crackling came from the machine, so Lapis adjusted a knob on it and music began to play. Lapis began to dance as she cleaned. Peridot and Techmo finished screwing some bolts and turned to watch Lapis clean and dance.
"Come and dance with me Peridot." Said Lapis as she waved for Peridot to come join her.
"I don't...know how to and I'm not really built fort that kind of activity." Said Peridot looking a bit nervous.
"Then I'll teach you then." Said Lapis as she went over to Peridot and took her hands in hers.
"I...um...I." Stuttered Peridot.
"Just relax. I'll lead and you follow." Said Lapis with a calming smile.
Peridot calmed down and she let Lapis lead. Lapis stepped side to side and Peridot followed her moves. The two gems danced across the lab and Techmo watched them. As they danced Peridot began to enjoy herself and she smiled at Lapis. The blue gem smiled back. The two continued to dance both the gems on their bodies began to glow brightly. Peridot took notice of her gem glowing and a panicked look appeared on her face and she quickly let go of Lapis and took a step away from her.
"We almost fused!" Sputter Peridot her cheeks flushing a bright shade of green.
"Oh...I am so sorry I did not mean for that to happen." Said Lapis as her cheeks flushed bright blue and she rubbed the back of her neck.
"Um what are you talking about? What is this fusion?" Asked Techmo.
"Well you see our race has the ability to fuse our bodies together and create bigger and stronger gems." Said Peridot.
"Gems usually do this through dancing." Said Lapis.
"So you two almost accidentally fused." Said Techmo.
"That's right." Said Lapis.
"So have either of yo fused before?" Asked Techmo.
"No." Said the gems together.
"From what I heard and understand from other gems, is that when gems fuse together their feelings, memories, and emotion are shown to each other and their minds blend with each other. It's something that both fascinates me...and scares me." Said Peridot.
"I...kind of get what you mean, but I hear that a fusion can tighten the bonds between gems and help them better understand each other. I'll admit that the idea of blending our minds together is a bit frighten to me as well, but I want to strengthen our bond and understand you better Peridot." Said Lapis.
"I understand, I'm just...not read yet. I've done some things in my past I'm not proud of and I'm afraid...of what you'll think of me once you see my memories." Said Peridot looking at the ground.
"Peridot I know you probably did some things your not proud of when you worked under Jasper and then Dr. AGE, but that was the past. You rescued me from isolation in a mirror and helped us escape from the Zalost and right now your trying to help these people defend their planet. Your a good gem Peridot and I love you no matter what." Said Lapis as she walked over to Peridot and squatted down right in front of her till she was looking peridot right in the eye.
"I...um...thanks." Said Peridot as she looked at Lapis.
"I'm just going to leave you two alone. Feel free to tinker and build whatever you, there's plenty of metal and parts about." Said Techmo with a smile as he took the metal arm and walked out of the lab.
Peridot and Lapis stared at one another and then Lapis leaned forward and kissed Peridot on the lips. At first Peridot was startled by the kiss, but then she found herself enjoying it. The two then stopped kissing and stared at each other.
"I...love you to Lapis." Said Peridot with a tiny smile.
"So what do you want to do now?" Asked Lapis.
"You want to help me construct a machine that'll help the defenders and beat those clods Jasper and Zim?" Asked Peridot.
"I'd love to." Said Lapis.
The two of them headed over to a pile of machinery and began to work on building a machine together.
Back at the medical bay, Mimi just woke up and was greeted by Jeff.
"Oh your awake! Are you feeling ok Mimi?" Said Jeff.
"Ok." Said Mimi.
"Good to hear. Once you get your strength back I'll remove the devil essence from your body." Said Jeff.
"That's what he thinks. I'm not going to be so easy to get rid of this time." Said Nega Mimi in Mimi's head.
Mimi wanted to go exploring and Jeff helped her out of bed. The two of them headed out of the medical bay and down a hallway, where they encountered Finn. Mimi felt her heart beat slightly faster as she saw the blond hero.
"Hey there Mimi, glad to see your awake. I'm Finn." Said Finn.
"Thank you." Said Mimi as she bowed her head.
"Oh your thanking me for dealing with those monsters. It was no problem. I always try to help those in need. It's what heroes do." Said Finn with a smile.
"Well you really helps us out and I thank you for allowing us to stay here." Said Jeff.
"Your welcome and if either of you need any help with anything just let me know. It was nice meeting you Mimi." Said Finn with a wave before he turned to leave.
"Nice guy." Said Mimi with a smile.
It was then that Phoebe came walking down the hall and Mimi's smile turned into a scowl as she watched Finn and Phoebe smile at one other as they hugged and exchanged kisses.
"Oh there goes the fire girl kissing the boy you love. You should totally beat her to death. Then Finn will be yours." Said Nega Mimi.
"Something wrong Mimi?" Asked Jeff.
Mimi just shook her head and she and Jeff continued to explore the palace for a bit and then they headed back to the medical bay. Jeff decided to give Mimi some alone time and let her rest up, so he could remove the devil essence from, her later. As soon as Jeff was gone Mimi went to the bathroom to splash some water on her face and clear her mind. Mimi was having second thoughts about attacking the flaming girl, it was clear to her that Finn liked her and any attack Mimi launched at fire girl, would anger Finn and get Mimi into serious trouble. Besides attacking and killing someone, because you were simply jealous was a very unheroic thing to do. Mimi looked at the mirror, but instead of seeing her reflection, she saw Nega Mimi looking back at her.
"I know that your thinking of backing out of attacking that girl. You don't want to do it because you think it's unheroic, you still have an idea of being a hero. I can't believe you still want to be a hero after you saw what happened to your friends and family. They all played hero and they died! Your own mother died by your own hands! There is innocent blood on your hands Mimi, so taking a life shouldn't be a problem for you." Said Nega Mimi.
Mimi looked down at her hands. The hands Mimi had now we're mechanical, but the memory of her mother's murder, when Mimi was infected by the devil essence ran through her mind over and over again.
"Nearly all the people you care bout are dead because of you. It's your fault they died! You really should just forget them and move on to the next phase of your life. Your mother and the other were holding you back from reaching your full potential." Said Nega Mimi.
Mimi looked at Nega Mimi with confusion.
"You are born from one of the strongest super powered women and your father is a pure force of evil. With those combined bloodlines you have incredible power. Your mother and her friends knew this, so they kept you from fighting anyone, so you wouldn't unlock your full potential. They feared your power! I can sense that you've grown stronger since we were separated. You felt stronger, were able to unleash a powerful super scream, and heal quickly and your power are continuing to grow. I can help you become stronger and protect the people you care about and get whatever you want. All you simply have to do is trust me and kill the girl. Evil runs through your veins Mimi it's time you stopped fighting it and accept it. Being evil is way more fun anyway." Said Nega Mimi as she offered a claw to Mimi.
Mimi stared at the claw hesitantly. Some of the stuff Nega Mimi said made sense and Mimi wanted to unlock her powers and protect all her friends. Taking the life of the fire girl seemed like a fair price to pay to get Finn and protect Jeff, Lapis, Peridot, Martin, and Chi. Mimi reached her hand up and touched the part of the mirror, where Nega Mimi's claw was.
"Good choice now let's go snuff out a fire." Said Nega Mimi with a wicked smile.
Mimi left the bathroom and went looking for Phoebe.
Phoebe was in her quarters sitting on her bed, with her door slightly open, when a paper airplane flew in and landed on her lap. The princess picked it up and unfolded it. The paper showed a crayon drawing of Finn with Mimi holding hands inside a big pink heart and a drawing of Phoebe laying on the ground in a puddle of blood with two Xs for eyes. Phoebe stared at the pictures with shock and disgust, before she angrily burned the paper to ashes. The princess stormed towards her door and threw it open, only to get hit with a bucket of water from above. Phoebe cried out in pain and shock as the water hit her body and the bucket landed on her head and blinded her.
"Aaaaaaaa! Not cool!" Shouted Phoebe as she yanked the bucket off and tossed it to the side.
Mimi then stepped out from behind a pillar and smirked at Phoebe. The princess glared at the younger girl.
"What's your problem?" She demanded.
"Finns mine." Said Mimi.
"What?" Asked Phoebe.
"Finns mine!" Declared Mimi.
Phoebe stared at the other girl in confusion.
"You must DIE!" Declared Mimi.
Though Phoebe had very little interaction with Mimi, some sixth sense told her something was up with the girl. Jeff had told told, her that Mimi was usually a kindhearted kid, who got along well with others and only used violence when she felt threatened or if anyone she cared about was in danger. Then Phoebe recalled that Jeff told her that Mimi was infected with something evil. That would explain the strange behavior.
"Look...Mimi, your not well. That evil thing inside you is messing with you. I don't want to fight you, so why don't you calm down and will go find Jeff and get him to remove that devil essence." Said Phoebe.
"No. I'm well." Said Mimi as she raise her fist to fight.
Phoebe watched in shock as red lighting sparked over Mimi's body and she began to change in front of her eyes. Mimi's skin turned red, horns grew out from her head, a dinosaur tail grew from her backside, and her hands changed into two crustacean claws. Even Mimi's clothes changed from a white dress to a red one with a whit trim.
"Well that's new." Said Phoebe.
"Snuff out!" Shouted Mimi as a slingshot and a black ball magically appeared in her claws.
Mimi fired the black ball at Phoebe, who blasted it with fire. The ball exploded into a black cloud of smoke that blinded Phoebe. There was swish sound as several water balloons flew through the smoke and struck Phoebe. The princess yelled in pain as the water hit her and she staggered back. Mimi then suddenly appeared next to Phoebe and kicked her in the chest. Phoebe was sent flying back and crashed to the ground. The princess quickly scrambled to her feet and faced a charging Mimi and hurled a fireball at her. Mimi leaped over the fireball and landed behind Phoebe. Before the fiery girl could do anything, Mimi's tail shot out and wrapped itself around Phoebe's throat! Phoebe gasped as she struggled to breath and escape.
"Die! Die! Die!" Said Mimi as her tail squeezed tighter.
Phoebe tried to summon her flames to burn the tail, but she couldn't focus, so she did the next best thing and bit the tail as hard as she could! Mimi's eyes went wide as she screamed in pain and released Phoebe to hold her tail. Phoebe took a gulp of air and delivered a punch to Mimi's face knocking her to the ground. The princess then grabbed Mimi by the tail and began to spin, her around the room. Phoebe shot flames from her elbows to make herself go faster and then she let go of Mimi. Mimi soared through the air and crashed through a window. Outside some patrolling Spartans looked up in shock as they saw Mimi crash through a window, soar through the air, and crash through the roof of the kitchen house. Phoebe then flew out of the broken window and into the kitchen house. The Spartans quickly ran off to sound the alarm and alert everybody about what was going on.
Jeff was walking through a hallway, when he heard an alarm go off, followed by a intercom message alerting everyone about a fight between Phoebe and a strange red girl. The big spider's eyes went wide as he realized what was going on and ran off to get Peridot and Lapis to help him with Mimi.
In the kitchen house, Mimi had crashed into a cupboard and a bag of flour had burst open and covered the girl in white powder. Phoebe flew into the kitchen house and landed a few feet from Mimi.
"Surrender Mimi. This whole thing is insane. You need help." Said Phoebe.
"Never!" Shouted Mimi as she shot to her feet and began to throw canned foods at Phoebe.
Phoebe dodged and deflected the cans. Mimi ran to find something better to use against Phoebe and the princess fired a fireball at her. The red girl saw the fireball coming, grabbed a frying pan, and swung it like a tennis racket sending the fireball right back at Phoebe. Phoebe quickly reacted by using her flames to forge a flaming racket in her hands and swung it at the onrushing fireball, hitting it and sending it flying back at Mimi. Mimi swung her frying pan and hit the fireball back at Phoebe, who hit it back with her flaming racket, which Mimi hit back and Phoebe then would hit it back. This went on for awhile, until Phoebe put some more fire and energy into her swing and sent the fireball racing back towards Mimi at an incredible speed. Mimi tried to hit it back, but this time the frying pan exploded and Mimi was sent flying back and smashed into a wall, before she slumped to the ground in a heap.
"Man...that was tough." Groaned Phoebe as she made the racket vanish and wiped her brow.
"Get up and stop being so weak Mimi! If we lose it'll be your fault! Just like it was your fault your mother and all those other people your cared about died! Now show that wretch your power!" Said Nega Mimi.
Mimi stumbled to her feet and faced Phoebe. The fiery princess decided she needed to end this fight quickly before things got out of hand and more damage was caused to the palace. Phoebe fired a medium size fireball at Mimi, who took a deep breath and unleashed a blast of icy breath from her mouth. The two high temperature attacks collide with each other and exploded, destroying the kitchen house and sending both Mimi and Phoebe flying out of it to crash on the ground outside in the courtyard. A bunch of Spartans stood around the area and gawked at the destroyed kitchen house and the two battered girls. Phoebe and Mimi stumbled to their feet and were fixing to start fighting again, when a large watery hand suddenly appeared behind Mimi and grabbed her. Mimi kicked and struggled, but couldn't break free from the hand. Phoebe turned to see Lapis standing next to a bunch of water barrels with Jeff and Peridot. Jeff was drawing a pentagram with a piece of white chalk.
"Alright it's ready, set her down!" Said Jeff.
Lapis made the water hand place Mimi on the pentagram. Mimi screamed in anger as the pentagram began to glow and she was bombarded with energy. At first it seemed like Mimi was weakening and that the devil essence was fixing to come out of her, but then she straightened up and her eyes began to glow red.
"I told you, you weren't going to get rid of me this time! Now let's give them a real show!" Said Nega Mimi.
Twin beams of energy shot out of Mimi's eyes and they destroyed the water hand.
"That's...one of Blossom's powers! Mimi inherited it!" Exclaimed Jeff.
Mimi let out a wild scream of rage as she swirled around unleashing beams of energy from her eyes. The beams tore of the top of trees and a big chunk of one of the buildings. Phoebe tried to rush at the mad girl, but Mimi just fired, her laser eyes at her. The princess managed to dodge to the side to avoid a head on collision with the beams, but her left shoulder got hit a little and she tumbled to the ground crying out in pain. Mimi went about swirling around ripping up the surrounding area with her laser eyes.
"That's right make them suffer! Kill them all!" Shouted Nega Mimi.
"Phoebe!" Cried Sarah as she arrived on the scene and saw her daughter tumble to the ground.
Sarah raced to her daughter's side and ripped off a piece of her own dress to wrap around Phoebe's injure shoulder. The fiery queen then helped her daughter sit up and held her close to her chest telling her everything was going to be ok. Mimi glanced over at the mother and daughter and this reminded of her own time with, her mother. This filled Mimi with anguish and anger. Mimi tilted, her head back and unleashed a sonic scream of anguish as she fired her laser eyes into the sky.
Then Iroh appeared from behind and delivered a powerful chop to the back of Mimi's neck. The lasers and screaming stopped as Mimi's eyes rolled into the back of her head and she fell forward. Iroh caught Mimi and held her in his arms. Jeff, Lapis, and Peridot headed over to Iroh and looked at Mimi.
"I don't understand...what went wrong. The pentagram worked before, it should have removed the devil essence from Mimi." Said Jeff looking very concerned.
"I'm afraid this child is at war with herself and the devil essence is using her own negative emotions to get Mimi to form a stronger bond with it, so it can corrupt her. It's already began to take a toll on her." Said Iroh.
"Is...there anything we can do." Asked Jeff.
"There is very little we can do. This is something only Mimi can do for herself. She is the one who can decide her fate." Said Iroh.
Jeff took Mimi from Iroh and stared down at the child. Despite her devilish appearance and massive amounts of power she had displayed, Mimi was still a young child haunted by her past who struggled against the hardships the multiverse put her through and yet she still managed to still be strong and kindhearted.
"Please come back Mimi." Said Jeff as he carried Mimi back to the palace followed by Lapis and Peridot.
