Chapter 191 Thoughts and Visions 2

At the tree fort, Jake and Jermaine were setting up a bed on the couch for Gata to sleep on. Gata had gone upstairs to search for some sleeping clothes and to take a shower. She found some brown shorts and a white sleeveless shirt, before hopping into the shower. A few minutes later Gata came out of the shower, dried herself off and put on her sleeping clothes. Gata looked at herself in the bathroom mirror and began to think about her life and current situation. She remembered growing up with Finn and Jake and going on adventures with them, but now she found herself in a world where her brothers didn't seem to completely remember her. They recalled faint memories of Gata living with their family at a young age, but they didn't remember anything past Gata's sixth birthday. Joshua had been freaked out by something and whatever that was had made him seal Gata into a statue and erased her from the rest of the family's memory. Whatever magic had been used, put Gata in some kind of dream world that reflected the universe she had been sealed away from and put her through the events and adventures her brothers went through, giving her knowledge about the real world and aging her at the same time. Gata figured that, her past before she was adopted somehow fit into the reason, Joshua sealed her away.
"I really wish you were here right now Finn." Said Gata to herself.
In the early years of their lives Finn and Gata had been close siblings to one another, due to the mystery of their origins and parents. The two children loved their stepfamily with all their hearts, but they were curious about where they came from, who their parents were, and where were they. Gata recalled a memory of her and Finn at age five hanging by a window at Joshua and Margaret's old home in the country and looking at the night sky. The two of them would then make up stories about what they think their real parents were and share a few laughs. When Finn met, his father Martin, Gata was so happy for her brother, who got some answers to his past. Then the incident at the labyrinth happened and Finn had been badly injured both physically and emotionally. What happened to Finn made Gata both furious and frightened. What if her own biological parents were as selfish and bad as Martin? There was a little silver lining for Finn, since it was revealed his mother cared about him a great deal. Who knows maybe Gata had a loving parent out there somewhere.
"I'm going to find my past and if it turns out to be bad and threatens the people I care about, then I'll deal with it." Said Gata before she left the bathroom.
Gata headed to the living room, where she found Jake and Jermaine standing by the couch.
"Hey Gata we made you a bed." Said Jermaine.
"Where did you used to sleep, back in that dream world?" Asked Jake.
"Well I had a room near the treasure and junk room. I tinkered with stuff there." Said Gata.
"Neat. Will see about fixing you up a room there. Goodnight Gata. Hope will have those cartridges fixed soon." Said Jermaine.
"Goodnight guys." Said Gata.
Jake and Jermaine headed upstairs and Gata fell asleep.
In the secret lair, Crimson was in the monitor room and happened to be watching the monitor that showed the inside of the tree fort and Gata sleeping on the couch. Crimson studied the girl curiously. There was something about Gata's appearance that reminded him of someone. The masked villain continued to watch the screen, where he witnessed something completely unexpected. Gata's eyes flew up and began to emit a white light as she opened up her mouth to reveal a swirling red portal. Crimson watched in fascination as a dozen creatures that resembled brains with four slimy tentacle like legs and large fanged gnashing jaws came out of the portal and began to move about the room. The masked villain grinned as he recognized the creatures as Thought Demons.
"Well this is certainly an unexpected surprise. It seems one of my old plans came up with quit a contingency plan to come back to Ooo, after being banished to another dimension. This will cause quit a scene in the magic community and all of Ooo. It also gives me a powerful weapon at by disposal." Said Crimson as he rubbed his hands together.
Back at the tree fort, Gata was having a really strange dream. She dreamed that she was in a strange cave. Gata saw an exit and walked over to it to see outside. The world outside was full of spiky mountains, a dark sky, and rivers of lava. At first Gata thought she had somehow ended up in the Nightosphere, but then she saw a large stone throne carved onto the top of a rock spire and sitting on it was an evil looking being. The being in question was not Hunson Abadeer, but another demon. The demon resembled Kee-Oth a little bit. It had red skin, two pointy ears, and wings. The demon had black horns, red eyes, red lips, and wore a tattered grey loincloth. Gata looked at the demon in fear and then it spoke in a deep creepy voice.
"The prodigal child has returned. The gateway is now open and soon I shall be freed of this blasted prison to claim my rightful place and get revenge on those who trapped me here!"
Gata trembled in fright at the scene and then she heard loud screaming and shouting from the real world that woke, her up. She got up and looked at the kitchen and saw Neptr and BMO fending off some strange creatures. Neptr was throwing pies, while BMO swung a large wooden spoon. Gata stared at the creatures and recognize them as Thought Demons. They were creatures that had at one point terrorized her parents homes on numerous occasions, while Gata and her brothers were growing up. Then one da they just stopped.
"What are those things doing here? Haven't seen these things in years and now they just show up in the tree fort." Thought Gata as she ran over, grabbed a stool and began hitting the creatures.
There was some yelling from upstairs and a couple of Thought Demons came racing down them, with Jake and Jermaine in hot pursuit. Jake was smashing the creatures with some big fist, while Jermaine hit them with a hammer. In a matter of minutes all the Thought Demons were squished. The group then went about putting the remains into a large trash bag.
"Man...I can't believe we're dealing with Thought Demons." Said Gata.
"Thought Demons huh? Yeah I remember those freaky things, back when we were kids." Said Jermaine.
"Now they're back, but how did they get into the fort?" Said Jake.
Gata thought about telling her brothers about the strange dream, she had but decided it had nothing to do with the Thought Demon situation and was only a bad dream.
"We should probably post a sentry. One of us will stay up for a few hours, while the others sleep and then another person will wakeup and take their place, so they can get some sleep. I don't want those creepy creatures sneaking up on us again." Said Jermaine.
"I'll take first watch." Said Gata as she grabbed a crossbow and took a seat at the kitchen table.
Jake and the others went off to get some sleep. It was a couple of hours later, when Jake showed up to take his turn as sentry. Gata yawned as she went over to the couch to sleep. When the girl fell asleep, she dreamed she was back in the cave, where she found herself facing a small old female that seemed to be the same species as Gata herself. The old women wore a red dress, a pointy hat, and dark round sunglasses.
"Oh it really is you! After so many years, you've finally returned!" Said the old woman happily.
"Who are you?" Asked Gata.
"Oh...there's not to much time for details. Let's just say I'm someone who can provide the answers you seek about your past. I was unfairly imprisoned here several years ago and I'm forced to run and hide from the horrible demon that runs this place." Said the old women.
"You know about my past?" Asked Gat.
"I do, but I'll only tell you, if you help me get out of this place. I just want to be free."
"Ok, so how do I free you?" Said Gata.
"You just have to help me find a portal that randomly appears in this realm. It never appears in the same place and its only open for a few hours." Said the old woman.
"So how do I find something like that?" Asked Gata.
"You have a special connection to the portal. If you focus you can locate and with a good deal of concentration you could summon it to us." Said the old woman.
"Alright I'll give it a shot." Said Gata as she closed her eyes and began to focus.
Gata could sense the portal, but before she could do anything she hear shouting from the real world and she started to wakeup.
"Noooo! We were so close!" Hissed the old woman furiously before Gata fully woke up.
Gata sat up from the couch and saw Jake wrestling around with a Thought Demon. Jake carried the demon to a trash can and stuffed into it, before he grabbed a metal tray and some tape on the counter and taped it onto the top of the trash can.
"Are you ok? Where did the Thought Demon come from?" Asked Gata as she went over to Jake.
"What's going?" Asked Jermaine as he came down stairs.
"Well I found out where the Thought Demons were coming from." Said Jake.
"Where?" Asked Gata.
"They...came from you Gata." Said Jake.
"WHAT?!" Cried Gata.
"You were sleeping and then your eyes opened up and glowed white and then your mouth flew open to reveal a red swirling portal. I watched as a Thought Demon came out and then you woke up." Said Jake.
Gata was stunned by this.
"I think Gata had no clue about this." Said Jermaine.
Gata then decided to tell her brothers about the strange dreams she had. Jake and Jermaine exchanged looks of concern with each other.
"Well it's clear to me that this is some serious magic we're dealing with and its over our heads." Said Jermaine.
"Luckily we know a really good magic expert who can help us." Said Jake.
"Simon." Said Gata as her eyes lite up with a bit of joy.
The little group made plans to see Simon at dawn and hopefully get some much needed help and advice.
