Chapter 211 Desert Capture

Link and his party rode through the desert on their horses heading towards Gerudo City. Midna was getting a bit board, so she decided to start up a conversation with the other heroes.
"So your all people from other worlds?" She asked as she rose up in her shadow form and floated next to Finn and Phoebe.
"We are. I was born on a world called Olympia, but then I ended up on a planet called Earth, when I was a baby. I grew up there and met Phoebe and the two of along with some other friends traveled to Olympia. Princess Zelda later showed up and recruited us to help her world." Explained Finn.
"And I hail from a world called Xing. I happened to be on Olympia, when Zelda showed up asking for help." Said Ling.
"So are you two just friends?" Asked Midna as she pointed at Finn and Phoebe.
"Actually were a couple." Said Phoebe.
This news surprised Midna as she looked at Finn and Phoebe with a bit of confusion. Finn was a human and Phoebe was made of fire. The two were of different living races who were made of polar opposite elements that didn't mix.
"How can you two be together?" Asked Midna.
"Well we have this friend named Simon, whose a wizard who knows a lot about magic and crafting magical items. He crafted a neckless for Phoebe so she can interact with the world around her without burning anything." Said Finn.
"Ok, but why are the two of you together?" Asked Midna.
"Well...we just love each other. Finn's a big hero on Earth and I heard stories about his exploits, so I became interested in him. Then one day I met him and the two of us fell in love. We began to spend time with each other and the more time we spent with each other the more we fell in love." Said Phoebe.
"I had recently been told by this other girl that I used to love that, she didn't love me back in the way I felt. I kind of fell into a...bit of a depression, but then I met Phoebe and she lite up my life and I fell in love with her." Said Finn.
"Finn was looking for something to fill the hole in his heart...and I guess I was looking for something to fill my own heart. Then we met and we filled each other's hearts with love for one another." Said Phoebe.
"Interesting. Tell me what would happen if there was no magic that allowed you to be together and nature itself tried to keep you apart?" Said Midna.
"Well...if nature tried to keep us apart, then I would defy nature to be with Phoebe." Said Finn.
"Same goes for me. I don't how we'd do it, but we would try to make things work." Said Phoebe.
"Love is a strange thing. I honestly can't understand it." Said Midna shacking her head.
"Love can be strange, but it's also wonderful and amazing. It just happens." Said Phoebe.
"So was there a special someone you loved back in the Twilight Realm? I'm sure since your a princess you had a bunch of suitors." Said Finn.
"There's...no special someone. I was the ruler of my people for a short time, before Zant overthrew me, so I didn't have a chance to look at suitors." Said Midna.
"Well don't you worry. Once we takedown Zant, you can find yourself a special someone." Said Finn.
"Thanks." Said Midna.
"So Link are you and Zelda a couple?" Asked Ling.
"What? No me and Zelda are just good friends and nothing more." Said Link.
"Maybe we can find mister hero a girlfriend on this adventure." Said Greed.
"Maybe." Said Ling with a chuckle as Link blushed.
The group carried on with their travels.
Miles away at the castle, Vaati disguised as a guard walked down a hallway. The mage passed the throne room and saw the Master Sword hanging from the wall. Vaati stopped to look at the sword and considered stealing it, but then he recalled Ghirahim telling him that the sword had a enchantment on it to keep it from being used by evil. The disguised villain moved on down another hallway and saw Zelda leaving a room that appeared to by a library, with the wrapped shard in hand. He carefully followed her to her room, where he saw Mimi, Lapis, and Peridot waiting outside the hallway.
"I've decided my room, will be the best place to hide the mirror shard for now, until we come up with a better plan. You have been given rooms next to mine to help secure and protect the shard." Said Zelda.
"Time to play daddy dearest." Thought Vaati as he changed into the king.
The king was an old man with a white beard, red robe, and gold crown. Vaati headed towards the group with a smile on his face.
"Ah Zelda, I'm glad your home and safe." Said Vaati in the king's voice.
"Hello father. I managed to get help to convince Link to take up his sword and hero ways, but I'm afraid there's a threat coming to our lands." Said Zelda before she went into details about her little adventure.
"That sounds like quit an ordeal. Tell you what, why don't you hand me that mirror shard and I'll put it somewhere safe." Said Vaati as he held his hand up.
Zelda looked at Vaati for a few seconds, before responding.
"I think not imposter."
"Zelda what are you saying, I'm your father." Said Vaati in a stern voice.
"You have my father's voice and appearance, but you should know my father would trust me to keep the shard safe, because of the Triforce of Wisdom. I may be young, but I am gifted with great wisdom. Now drop your disguise and reveal yourself." Said Zelda.
"Fine." Said Vaati in his normal voice as he dropped the disguise and revealed his true self.
"The enemy is here!" Said Peridot as she and the other heroes prepared for battle.
"Who are you?" Demanded Zelda.
"I am Vaati and I must say Princess Zelda you are as clever as you are beautiful, but that will not stop me from taking that shard from you." Said Vaati.
"Oh yeah. I'd like to see you try and take it." Said Lapis.
Vaati just smirked as he unleashed a powerful gust of wind from, his hands that crashed into the four women and sent them crashing into a wall. Zelda dropped the shard and Vaati quickly went over to her to pick it up. The mage then turned to run down the hall. Peridot quickly recovered and used her powers to make a suit of armor in the hallway crash down towards Vaati forcing him to leap back, before he raced by it and continued on with his escape. Mimi quickly got to her feet and took off running after Vaati, with incredible speed. In a matter of seconds she caught up wth the villain and leaped at him. Vaati only had time to let out a startled shout as Mimi crashed into him and the two of them went flying out an open window. Luckily for the two of them they weren't to high up and there was a tree near the window. Vaati and Mimi crashed through the tree and landed on the ground. Vaati stumbled to his feet a second before Mimi and fired a red beam of magic from his hands, but Mimi countered the attack with a laser blast from her eyes. The two attacks canceled each other out. The mage gritted his teeth in frustration.
Lapis flew out of the castle carrying Zelda, followed by Peridot who flew out riding a shield, she levitated with her powers. The three women landed on the ground next to Mimi and faced Vaati together. Vaati looked at the women and saw a few guards rushing onto the scene. This was proving to be a bit more troublesome then he predicted, luckily he was a skilled mage and he had a few tricks up his sleeves.
"I must admit your quit strong for a group of women. It's time I introduce you to my own little group of women. Allow me to introduce the Cubus Sisters!" Said Vaati as he waved his arms in the air and unleashed some magical sparks.
Four hovering creatures appeared behind Vaati. They were shorter then the mage, they had grey skin, red eyes, white teeth bared in creepy smiles, black horns, long black skinny arms with claws, and they each wore ragged dresses with hoods and bows. Each sister had on a different colored dress, there was a red one, a purple one, a green one, and a yellow one. The Cubus Sisters floated in the air with nasty grins on their faces. Vaati snapped his fingers and the sisters flew forward, but instead of attacking the heroes, they flew at the guards and began to attack them with magical beams of energy and hurl balls of energy at some nearby servants causing them all to scream and shout. The heroes were shocked by these actions.
"Now you have two choices princess. Either you catch me or stop my monsters from harming your subjects. It's your move." Said Vaati.
"You coward!" Shouted Zelda as a bow appeared in her hand and she fired an arrow made of light at Vaati.
Vaati just laughed as he shrunk down in size and vanished into the grass. Zelda let out a frustrated hiss. If things were different she would have her and her friends search for Vaati, but right now the castle was under attack and her subjects needed her.
"Deal with the monsters and protect the people." Said Zelda.
The others nodded and they all went to deal with the threat. The Cubus Sisters split up and Zelda and her three comrades each went after one of the sisters. Zelda went after Yellow Cubus, Lapis went after Purple Cubus, Mimi went after Red Cubus, and Peridot went after Green Cubus.
"Come here you clod!" Yelled Peridot as she chased after Green Cubus holding her shield.
Green Cubus laughed and hurled a magical ball of energy at Peridot. The gem quickly used her powers to hold her shield up and the attack bounced off of it and hurled itself back at it's sender. Green Cubus quickly swung a clawed hand at the ball sending it flying back at Peridot, who quickly thrusted her shield up with her powers knocking the ball back towards Green Cubus. The monster wasn't ready for the quick return and the attack struck her. Green Cubus let out a scream as she exploded into a cloud of black smoke.
Lapis chased Purple Cubus towards a fountain. She used her powers to summon a enormous water arm and she slammed it down on top of the startled monster causing her to explode into a cloud of black smoke.
Mimi flew after Red Cubus and fired her eye beams at her, but the monster quickly turned around and fired a magical beam of energy back and the two attacks canceled each other out. Red Cubus fired a magical ball of energy at Mimi, but she dodged and blew a gust of freezing breath at the monster freezing it in a chunk of ice. The monster crashed to the ground and shattered releasing a cloud of black smoke.
Zelda chased after Yellow Cubus, who sent a group of guards flying with a exploding ball of energy. The Princess felt her sense of justice grow as the monster cackled with glee at the wounded guards. Yellow Cubus saw Zelda and charged at her unleashing a magical ball of energy at her. Zelda notched a light arrow to her bow and fired. The arrow smashed through the monster's attack and then it went through Yellow Cubus's chest! The monster let out a scream of dismay as it exploded into black smoke.
The monsters were defeated. The guards and servants cheered and those that were unharmed went to tend to the injured. Mimi, Lapis, and Peridot went over to Zelda who had a frown on her face.
"What's wrong Zelda? We won!" Said Lapis.
"We did, but Vaati escaped with the mirror shard. That force of monsters we just stopped was only a small sample of what our enemies can do. Vaati is probably a lot stronger and I this is just the beginning of out troubles." Said Zelda.
"Well whoever the enemy is will face them together." Said Peridot.
The others nodded and Zelda smiled a little.
Outside the castle, Vaati returned to his human size and found the Hunters where he left them. He gave them the mirror shard and then flew away. The Hunters just grumbled about the strangeness of their job before moving on with their search for the other shards.
Back in the desert, Link's group had just arrived at Gerudo City. The heroes approached the walled city gates. Some guards looked down at the travelers and asked what they wanted.
"We seek to speak to your leaders to warn them of an impending threat." Called Link.
A few minutes later the gates opened up and the heroes were waved inside. Link and the others dismounted their horses and the guards lead them into the city. The Gerudo people gave Link and his group some curious glances, but they soon quickly looked away. Ling found that suspicious and his sixth sense was warning him of danger. Greed also sensed danger as well and was on his guard. The heroes were lead to a large official looking building, with a large courtyard. The council of the city was gathered on a balcony that looked down at the courtyard. Link noticed that the council had sorry guilty looks on their faces.
"Council of Gerudo, I am the hero Link and I come barring news about a great threat." Called Link up to the balcony.
"Your to late hero, a great threat has already arrived. A ancient enemy has returned and forced us under it's servitude." Said one of the council members.
Before Link could ask what that evil was several Gerudo guards charged into the courtyard with swords and spears drawn. There were a few dozen poofs of red smoke and a bunch of Yiga Clan members appeared amongst the ranks of the Gerudo with their weapons drawn. Tyrian stepped out from behind a pillar with a big grin on his face as he bared his blades and Koume and Kotake came flying in from above on their broomsticks. Link recognized the witches from a history book he read and was a bit shocked to see them alive.
"Welcome hero! Looks like we have you surrounded!" Laughed Koume.
"Indeed we do sister!" Laughed Kotake.
"Let's kill them!" Said Tyrian gleefully.
The assembled forces closed in on the heroes and waited for a command to attack.
"So what's the plan? Do we fight these guys or what?" Whispered Ling.
"No we don't. The Gerudo are being forced into this and I don't want any of them to get hurt. I have a plan to get at the real threats, but we need to surrender." Whispered Link.
"Why surrender?" Whispered Phoebe.
"Because we need to lure the enemy into a calm before we strike. They know everything about me and my skills, but they don't know anything about your abilities or Midna. We can take them by surprise when the moment is right." Whispered Link.
"Makes sense to me." Whispered Finn.
The others nodded. Link looked up at Koume and Kotake and spoke.
"We surrender."
"Wait what?!" Said Tyrian looking a little shocked and disappointed.
"You surrender?" Asked Koume a little confused.
"We do." Said Link.
"Well that's no fun, oh well I guess we can still kill them." Said Tyrian as he prepared to attack.
"No. We won't kill them here. Link's death needs to be more public, with a bigger audience! His death will serve as an example to those who would dare defy Ganondorf!" Said Kotake.
"Remove their weapons and throw them in the dungeon. We must prepare the coliseum for a grand execution." Ordered Koume.
The guards walked forward and removed all the heroes visible weapons, before shackling them up, and marched them to the dungeon.
"I hope you know what your doing Link, otherwise this will be a short adventure and I'll have to look for help elsewhere." Grumbled Midna from Link's shadow.
"Don't worry I know what I'm doing." Whispered Link.
The heroes were marched down to the dungeon and were thrown in separate cells to await execution.
