(Author's Note: I present to you my version of the Adventure Time episode Evergreen. Enjoy.)

Nearly one hundred thousand years ago.

The Earth was young and vibrant, with many different forms of life including dinosaurs. It was a tough place to live and only the strong and the wise truly thrived. In one part of the world four extremely powerful beings lived. These were the Elementals. Constancy Chill the Ice Elemental, Chatsberry the Candy Elemental, Balthus the Fire Elemental, and Slimy D the Slime Elemental. The Elementals lived in their separate homes surrounded by their respected element and usually kept to themselves. They visited and interacted with each other, but they kept out of the affairs of others. But then one day everything changed for Constancy.

Constancy had light blue skin, a pointy beak like nose, pointy ears, a bunch of white hair and busy beard, two long legs with bear like feet, and dressed in a blue shirt, a blue kilt, grey metal gauntlets, a black belt with a sword sheathed through it, and had what appeared to be some kind of turtle shell strapped to his back.

One day Constancy was out walking, when he heard some shouting and jeering and decided to go investigate it. Constancy followed the noise to a large rock clearing and saw a large group of blue humanoid toads armed with spears attacking a medium size green dinosaur. The toads were being lead by a short black humanoid wearing what appeared to be a blue striped robe and turban. The robed creature urged the toads on to attack the dinosaur, who was on the ground covering something with it's body. The toads would poke the dinosaur with their spears making it bleed and cry out in pain, but it refused to move from whatever it was covering. This seemed to upset and anger the robe creature, who urged the toads to continue the attack. Constancy watched the attack go on for a few more seconds. He recognized the little group as a wicked little group called the ravagers. The blue robed creature went by the name Scourge and according the other Elementals he was a magic user, who did a bunch of dark rituals involving the blood of animals and dinosaur and drago eggs to increase his powers. Constancy felt his blood boil at the sight of the attack and then he leaped into action. He charged in and began firing beams of freezing energy that struck toads in their arms and legs freezing them and making the toads reel back in pain and surprise. The toads that hadn't been taken out yet tried to launch a counter attack, but froze in their tracks, when they saw the anger in Constancy's eyes and his hands crackling with magical energy. Their animal instincts yelled out them that attacking the Elemental was a bad idea and they began to back away from him. Scourge marched his way past the toads his hands crackling with black energy. He had a confident grin on his face as he fired a blast of dark energy at Constancy, who fired a wave of ice energy back. Constancy's attack smashed through Scourge's attack slamming into him and knocking him. Scourge scrambled to his feet with a thin layer of ice covering his skin and clothes. All the confidence and fight was out of him and he and the rest of the Ravagers fled the area in terror.

With the threat removed Constancy turned his attention to the dinosaur. He began to approach the dinosaur it looked up at him with weak weary eyes. Constancy raised his hands in a peaceful and gentle manner as he spoke.

"I'm not here to hurt you. I'm here to help."

The dinosaur seemed to understand him and saw he didn't present a threat. Constancy reached the dinosaur and began to examine it's wounds. It wasn't good. Their were multiple scars all of which were bleeding heavily. The poor creature didn't have too much time. The dinosaur let out a groan as it moved it's body a little to reveal a large egg. Constancy could only stare at the egg in surprise. The Ravagers had been after the egg. The dinosaur was a mother protecting it's young. Constancy watched as the mother dinosaur pushed the egg out beneath her body, before laying on the ground next to it. The mother dinosaur gave her egg a sad look, before her eyes closed. A few seconds later the dinosaur stopped breathing and soul moved on. Constancy bowed his head in a moment of silence for the dead parent. He then turned his to the egg and gently picked it up. Constancy couldn't just leave the egg, since the Ravagers might come back for it. The mother dinosaur's work and sacrifice would be in vain and Constancy refused to let that happen. He used his powers to bury the mother dinosaur and then he took the egg back to his icy tower home, where he bundled it up with some blankets. Constancy went to his private study and began to do a little research to help the egg. If Constancy was going to help the young dinosaur he was going to need magic help. Constancy wasn't a dinosaur, so he couldn't raise the young dinosaur like a dinosaur parent and teach it like one, but if he used magic he could make the creature smarter and give it a better chance of living and surviving. The Ice Elemental went through several books and notes before he found a spell that might help. Constancy then gathered the egg up and began to cast a spell on it.

"By the feathers of the Cosmic Owl and the stars in the heavens I give you the gifts of knowledge and curiosity to brighten your mind and perspective, so you may become wise."

A couple balls of blue light left Constancy's hands and entered the egg. The egg glowed for a few seconds and then it began to shake and crack. Constancy watched in awe as a tiny green dinosaur with three fingers on each hand, a green tail, and a dark green collar of skin around it's neck hatched out of the egg. The dinosaur blinked it's little eyes at Constancy and looked at it's surroundings in curiosity. Constancy carefully picked up the dinosaur and cradled it. After determining the dinosaur was male, he decided on a name.

"I'm going to call you Gunther."

The newly named Gunter seemed to like this name and laughed happily. Constancy smiled at his new son. A warm feeling grew in Constancy's chest as he had something new and wonderful in his life.

To be continued.
