Disclaimer: I do not own anything, expect the OCs. This is just a story for fun.

At the tree fort, Jake and Gata had just returned after a nice little dungeon crawl. Gata decided to look through the treasure room to see if there was a good place for the new loot. After looking around she noticed a couple of items were missing and she went to tell Jake.

"Jake, the Ancient Psychic War Elephant and the Armor of Zeldron are missing"

"Huh that's weird. Maybe the War Elephant decided to leave and he took the armor with him." Said Jake.

"I guess that could have happened." Said Gata.

The two then began to go through their loot together. There were gold coins, gems, a few jeweled daggers, and a strange mirror with encrusted gems, and strange writing on it.

"What's this thing?" Asked Jake pointing at the mirror.

"I think I've seen one of these in a magic items book. It's called a truth mirror and it's supposed to show whoever looks into a hidden unknown truth about themselves." Said Gata.

"That sounds awesome! Let's look into it!" Said Jake.

Gata decided to look into the mirror first. It showed Gata's normal reflection first and then her features vanished to be replaced with a humanoid shape with different kinds of glowing energy running through it and in the figures head was a red swirling vortex with a wall of blue energy blocking. Gata figured that the glowing energy was her own magical energy, the red vortex was the evil portal her biological mother had placed in her, when she was a baby, and the blue wall was from the magic necklace she wore that kept the portal from ever being opened. It was an odd fascinating sight. Gata stepped to the side and let Jake take a turn.

Jake looked at his reflection and like before it showed his normal form and then his reflection changed and Jake found himself at a blue version of himself with long limbs and five eyes. Gata let out a startled gasp and Jake turned and got a glance of himself in a normal mirror hanging from a wall and the sight made him gasp. He looked just like the version of himself in the mirror of truth! Jake looked down at himself and saw that he was blue!

"What the heck is going on?" Cried Jake as he looked at his reflection in the normal mirror.

"The truth mirror showed a hidden truth about yourself...and it must have changed you somehow." Said Gata looking a bit stunned.

Jake looked back at the truth mirror and hoped that it would change him back to his normal self, but all he saw was the reflection of his blue self. The dog began to freak out.

"Oh man this is so freaky and bad! What do we do?! Do we go see if Simon can fix me with magic? Go see Doctor Princess for medical help? Have Bubblegum use her science on me?"

"Jake calm down, it's going to be ok. Will figure this out." Said Gata in a calm reassuring voice as she put her hands on Jake's shoulders.

"Ok..I'm calm. Thanks sis." Said Jake as he took a few deep breaths.

"That's good. Now let me call Jermaine and get him into loop." Said Gata as she pulled out her phone and called Jermaine.

Jermaine answered and Gata quickly filled him in on what happened. There was a bit of a pause after Gata finished and then Jermaine.

"The two of you should come to my place, at mom and dad's old apartment. I think I might have something that can explain what's going on with Jake."

"Ok." Said Gata as she hung up the phone.

Gata filled Jake in on what was going on and the two of them headed towards Jermaine's place. They past a few travelers on the way there and they gave Jake's appearance some odd and fearful looks. Jake tried to calm them down by explaining who he was, but the travelers quickly walked away muttering that the blue being was crazy and weird if he thought he was Jake the hero. This sadden Jake and Gata assured him that everything was ok and his new appearance didn't bother her. The two eventually made it to Jermaine's place and knocked on the door. Jermaine answered the door wearing a red beret and holding a paintbrush in one hand. He ushered them inside and closed the door. Jake and Gata looked around the apartment and saw that he had converted a part of it into an art studio. The siblings knew that Jermaine loved art and painting and he had painted pictures of landscapes, but now it looked he was painting abstract paintings. Gata found the paintings to be interesting, while Jake just frowned at them. Jermaine put his paintbrush down and studied Jake. He didn't seem freaked out or surprised by Jake's new appearance.

"You don't seem surprised by Jake's new look." Said Gata.

"Dad told me something like this would happen. He didn't know when it would happen, but he knew this would happen some day." Said Jermaine.

"He did?" Asked Jake.

"He did and he told me to be supportive to you and help you out. I would have done that anyway for you." Said Jermaine.

"Do you know why this is happening?" Asked Gata.

"I don't know, but there's a holo tape from dad I'm supposed to show to Jake once he started changing." Said Jermaine as he fetched the holo player and put a tape in it.

A tiny hologram of Jermaine popped up before the group and began speaking.

"Hey Jake if your watching this then you've probably noticed that your blue and changing. It's a strange change and it has to do with how you were born. You see Jake, while your mother was pregnant with Jermaine we were on a case investigating a strange blue shapeshifting creature. During the case the creature bit my head and it began to swell up and give me a killer headache. Your mother and I chased the creature in hopes of collecting an anti venom to fix my head, but the creature escaped and a hole burst open in my head and out came a tiny bulldog pup. That pup was you Jake and that's how you were born."

"Oh...my Glob." Said Jake a look of shock on his face.

Both Jermaine and Gata were equally shocked. The hologram continued talking.

"I know this is a lot and I honestly should have told you the truth, while I was still alive and kicking. I just want you to know that your mother and I love you. It didn't matter to us how you were born or came into this world, your still our son and we love you. Doesn't matter what changes your going through, I'm proud to call you my son and I know you won't let this stop you from being the awesome and amazing guy I know you are."

The hologram smiled and then vanished. Jake just stared at the holo player for a few seconds and then he turned to Jermaine and Gata.

"I'm still the same Jake you know, I just look different." Said Jake.

"You are but you've also changed Jake. I've changed to with my art. Change is a part of nature Jake and it just happens." Said Jermaine.

"Is someone making you paint these abstract paintings?" Asked Jake pointing at the paintings.

"No one is making paint anything. I just been painting regular landscapes so long, that the shapes just lost meaning to me and broke apart, so I just painted them like that. And it's not like my new paints erase my old paints, they're both me." Said Jermaine.

"Kind of like my life. I spent the first six years of my life in the real world, then I spent about eight years in the dream world, and then I got brought back to the real world. That life in the dream world and the one I'm living right now are both me." Said Gata.

Jake looked at Jermaine and Gata and then he looked at some of the abstract paintings.

"I think...I'm getting it. You have anymore paintings?" Said Jake.

Jermaine smiled and he and Gata grabbed a bunch of paintings and set them up in a circle around Jake. Jake stood in the middle of the circle and began studying all the different shapes in the pictures as he went into a bit of trance and began speaking.

"The shapes are always changing. Changing is their nature like us. Even we're not changing on the outside we're changing on the inside constantly. There's been some...stuff I've been ignoring for a long time and other...stuff I really don't know what to make of. That stuff...scares me, but it's part of who I am. As long as I know the shape of my soul I'll be alright."

Jermaine and Gata stared at Jake with awe and smiles. Jake now stood before them in his regular normal form. He looked down at himself and smiled.

"Whoa. I think you really understand my art." Said Jermaine.

"I understand nothing." Said Jake with a goofy grin and laugh.

Jermaine and Gata laughed, though they knew Jake did have a great understanding of many things, including art. Jake went over to his siblings and they had a group hug. A little bit later the three of them sat on the roof of the apartment and watched the sunset. Enjoying the beautiful sight and each other's company.

To be continued.
