Chapter 295 Gum Relatives 4

Outside the Ice Kingdom palace, Weiss, Patience, Slime Princess, Bear Claw, Hot, and Slush were watching Eria play with Neddy and Gee. The other guards from the Candy Kingdom were hanging around the carriage that had brought the royal family. A few of the guards were playing Rock Paper Scissors, Eye Spy, and a couple were having a staring contest. At the moment everything was peaceful. It was then that both Weiss and Bear Claw's super sense of smell caught an odd odor in the air. It was the smell of milk. Before any looking into this could be done, Bubblegum and Braco came down from the castle followed by Simon, Betty, and Lolly. The rulers of the Candy Kingdom called to their son that it was time to go as they made their way to the carriage. It was then that the Milk Men attacked and make their presence known. They sprung up from the snow they had used as camouflage to hide their presence and attacked. Four guards were instantly taken by surprise by the attack and the Milk Men sank their fangs into them, but instead of falling to the ground crying in pain or instantly dying something entirely different happened. The guards skin began to turn milk white as their bodies began to change shape. In a matter of seconds the guards had transformed into larger versions of the Milk Men!
"Oh my Glob!" Cried Bubblegum in shock.
The newly transformed Milk Men joined the other Milk Men on the attack. The guards desperately waved their spears at the monsters keeping them back. A Milk Man tried to attack Neddy, Eria, and Gee, but Simon instantly froze the monster, saving the children as he and Betty grabbed them and put them behind themselves to protect them. Weiss sliced one Milk Man in half causing it to melt into a puddle of milk, while Hot torched another two. Slush froze the transformed guards to keep them from continuing the attack. The battle lasted a few minutes and after a while it seemed like all the Milk Men were dead. As soon as everything was quit everyone began to relax a little. Unfortunately not all the Milk Men were dead. One had managed to lay low during all the fighting and had crept it's way to Bubblegum. The Milk Man sprung into action and sank it's fangs into Bubblegum's right arm!
"Aaaaaaaaaaa!" Cried Bubblegum in pain.
"Bubblegum!" Cried Braco in dismay.
Before anyone could think about attacking the Milk Man, it quickly ran off and disappeared into the white snowy landscape. Braco and the others ignored the escaping monster and focused their attention on Bubblegum. Bubblegum was on her knees grasping her wounded arm as she gritted her teeth in pain. It felt like a thousand needles were stabbing into Bubblegum. Bubblegum looked at her arm and she saw some of her skin slowly turn milk white.
"Mommy!" Cried Neddy with tears in his eyes as he tried to run to his mother, but Braco grabbed him and held him back.
"Why isn't she instantly turning like the others?" Asked Lolly.
"It must be her...elemental powers. They're slowing the infection and are trying to fight it off." Said Patience.
"Well we can't solely count on that healing her. We need to take Bubblegum inside and work up a medicine or antidote to help her and the others." Said Betty.
Betty and Patience helped Bubblegum into the castle, while Bear Claw picked up the four frozen turned guards and carried them inside. Simon picked up the frozen Milk Man and followed the others. The group went to Simon's workshop and Bubblegum was placed in a comfy chair. Chicle came into the work shop and asked what was going on and Slime Princess filled him. Betty was working fast by taking DNA samples from Bubblegum and her infection, so she could study them. Chicle watched and glanced at the sick Bubblegum and then over at Braco, who had a worried look in his eyes as he tried to comfort Neddy. He let out a sigh and went over to Hot taking his heat gun away, before going over to the frozen Milk Man. Chicle used the gun to melt a little of the ice away, so he could get at the mouth. He stuck a cotton swab into the mouth and took a saliva sample. Chicle went over to the table where Betty was working and presented the sample.
"This should help move things along." Said Chicle.
Betty nodded in thanks and the two of them began to work together on an antidote.
While that was going on, Bubblegum had fallen into a fevered dream and was having a horrible nightmare. She dreamed she was a child swimming in a large pool of milk and was desperately trying to keep her head above the milk. Then the milk began to bubble and a massive shape rose out and towered over Bubblegum. It was a gigantic purple crab with the head of Gumbald on it. Bubblegum cried out in fear as Gumbald looked down at her.
"You forgot your floaties." Said Gumbald.
"Gumbald!" Cried Bubblegum.
"Yes it is I! I have returned niece. This is simply a recorded message I pasted on the fangs of the creature that bit you. Now on to business. You've been a very naughty girl Bubblegum. You abandoned me, stole my kingdom and it's people, and your causing trouble with Fire Kingdom. You've been very busy. Now on to the important bit. This little attack I launched is only the beginning. I have much bigger things planned out for the future, but rest assure niece, I full intentions of ruining you and taking everything you hold dear. Your days are numbered." Said Gumbald before breaking out into a cold cruel laugh.
Bubblegum could only stare at the monster helplessly as she continued to struggle to keep her head above the milk.
