Part 8
Barry walked through CCPD just after nine that morning heading right for Singh's office. He waved at Joe and Eddie. He knocked on the Captain's door and waited until he was told to enter a minute later.
"Take a seat Allen." Said Singh
Barry sat down and waited until the police Captain was ready.
"Well first welcome back. Second when is the Flash going to make his return? Though I have to say while your Martian friend is a nice guy. I could have done without the headache." Said Singh
"If it makes you feel better I was given a pretty bad headache when I woke up too. I had to be given my memories of this Earth."
"Like the fact that your wife is not Joe's daughter, but your lovely friend Dr. Snow? What just because I am gay does not mean I don't know a beautiful woman when I see one."
"Yeah. I actually think that Cait is a better match for me."
"Is she going to be joining the Flash as our resident Ice Queen?"
"Um that is a change. Frost is actually Cait's twin sister Charlie."
"Since when does she have a twin sister?"
"Since this Earth was created apparently. But you don't have to worry about her going to the dark side."
"That's good."
"As for when the Flash will appear. I am waiting for Cisco to finish my suit. But as soon as it is ready I will be out there protecting the city."
"Good. Now get to work. I think there is a bit of a back log. Spiviot is not nearly as good as you. Oh and by the way if he comes looking for a job I will not hire Albert unless it is ok with you. I will also make it clear to him that you a head CSI in this department."
"Thanks I will let you know if that day comes."
Barry left the office and headed up to the crime lab. He stood at the door and watched as Patty Spiviot was bent over her desk writing something in a report. He would have to make sure that she was kept away from any case that involved either Clyde or Mark Marden. He had no idea if her history was the same or not. But that was a risk he was not going to take.
"Patty, I understand there is a bit of a back log." Said Barry
"Barry! When did you wake up? Are you back to work or just visiting?" asked Patty
"I woke up a few days ago. I am back at work. So how many cases are you behind on?"
"About twenty. But I have been doing most of this on my own. I mean there is the part time temps that we have had while you been out. But I have been the only full timer."
"Well let me grab a case and see if between the two of us if we can get caught up."
"Right."
Barry grabbed a case file and a pair of gloves and got to work going through the evidence.
Caitlin walked into the back entrance at the Ice Palace that led to the two apartments above the bar. While Charlie lived in the bigger of the two. The second one being just a studio apartment she used as her art studio. Caitlin knew her sister was working on her art by the loud hard rock music blasting. Sighing and very glad Charlie had given her a key to both her apartment and studio let herself in. She walked over to the stereo and turned it off. She was met with an icy glare from her sister who looked up from the painting she was working on.
"What are you doing here Caity?"
"We need to go talk to mom about dad. We also need to restore her memory so we can find out if dad is really dead or not."
"Don't see why I have to go with you. When we shared a body I got the feeling that Carla was only tolerating me. It's not like on this Earth she approves of my career choices."
"Charlie, I think mom was just afraid that you were going to be like Icicle. You know I was scared when you first woke up."
"I know. But then DeVoe locked me up and you did everything you could to get me back. You even went to see that shrink."
"Yeah and she thought I had dissociative identity disorder."
"In way you did."
"True. But it led to me discovering that you had been apart of me since we were kids. You know if I had known about you then I never would have suppressed you."
"I know that now. So if dad is Icicle you going to keep him locked up?"
"Until we find a way to cure him yes."
"What about that meta cure you and Cisco made think that might work on him?"
"It might. But tests would need to be done. Of course I would consult with mom. She is one of the leading experts in cryomedice."
"Yeah well she is a better choice then Mr. Freeze. By the way any word on if Batwoman has shown up in Gotham yet?"
"Not yet but the Green Arrow is now active. I am pretty sure that Oliver is going to make sure that he stops the Undertaking before any lives are lost in the Glades."
"Good he better put Merlyn in the ground where he belongs."
"I really hate to agree with you. But you are right. That man can not be redeemed and neither can Thawne."
"I can think of a few others."
"But you were on the old Earth. I am proud that you are my sister."
"Don't go getting mushy on me Caity. Save that for your lover boy."
"Friday, Charlene we are going to see mom."
"You are lucky I love you or I would give you frostbite. Get Barry to come to the bar tonight. I am setting Cisco up with my new bartender. Before you say anything it's Kamilia so bring that ring Sara gave you."
"Of course. So are you seeing anyone?"
"Not at the moment. But I am looking for that someone special. Like you found with Barry."
"I am sure they are out there. So is it a guy or girl you are looking for?"
"A guy. You should know that. I did date in high school."
"Yeah that creep Marc something."
"Marc Blaine. He was not a creep. He was a bit of a science nerd like you."
"He was always in trouble!"
"I wasn't squeaky clean either."
"Very true. Didn't you get suspended for spray painting the principal's car?"
"Yes. But you have to agree that it needed to be painted."
"I don't think he wanted the windows painted Char."
"We all make mistakes. So when are you and Flash giving me some nieces and nephews to spoil?"
"Not until we get rid of Thawne. I don't want to put my children in danger from that mad man."
"Totally understand. Call mom and tell her that we are coming on Friday if that works for her."
"Thanks Char. I know better then to tell you what to wear. But will you at least make sure to wear something that doesn't have paint on it?"
"That I can do."
"I should go and make sure Barry didn't skip lunch. I am taking him some Big Belly Burger."
"Tell him hi from me."
"I will see you later sis."
"Later"
Caitlin hugged her sister and headed out to stop and get lunch and to see her husband. She arrived at CCPD half an hour later and walked in. The desk Sergeant just smiled at her and waved her past. She stopped by Joe and Eddie's desks dropping off the milkshakes she got for them knowing how much they liked them. They thanked her before she headed up to the crime lab. She walked in to see both Barry and Patty hard at work.
"Lunch break." Said Caitlin
Both CSI's looked up and smiled. Caitlin smiled back remembering that in this reality that she and Patty actually were pretty good friends. She placed a bag of food and bottle of water on the desk of the female CSI before taking the other bag and a large chocolate shake and the other bottle of water she had over to Barry's desk.
"Thanks for lunch Caitlin. I so forgot about eating today." Said Patty
"No problem. I figured as much. I know Barry tends to forget to eat when he gets into working hard." Said Caitlin
"So do you my lovely wife. Cisco told me that you were practically living on pizza pockets and coffee while I was in the coma." Said Barry
Caitlin rolled her eyes. She was going to have to remember to have a talk with Cisco. Caitlin handed Barry his triple bacon cheeseburger with extra large fries and ten piece chicken nuggets.
"All that for you Barry?" asked Patty taking a bite of her single cheeseburger.
"Uh yeah. I have a really fast metabolism." Said Barry
"We think it has something to due with side effects of him being hit by lightning. We need to do a few more tests to be sure." Said Caitlin
"That is so weird. I mean I have a cousin that got hit by lightning. He survived and all. But he has a stutter now." Said Patty
"Guess it affects everyone differently." Said Barry
"Barry, Charlie wants us to stop by the bar tonight. She wants us to meet her new bartender who she really thinks Cisco is going to love. I have to agree with her." Said Caitlin
Barry raised an eyebrow asking an unspoken question. Caitlin smiled and nodded.
"Then we should go." Said Barry popping a fry into his mouth.
"Good cause I could use a night out with my husband. Especially since when I leave here I am going to call my mom and let her know Charlie and I are coming to see her Friday."
"You want me to come?"
"No Char and I will be fine on our own."
"Ok. But if you two need me just call and I will be right there." Said Barry lowering his voice so Patty couldn't hear.
Caitlin nodded and the finished their lunch together.
