Part 16
Iris was cleaning Jitters after close when she felt someone grab her and suddenly she found herself on the roof.
"I understand you have been writing about me and my partner." Said Barry standing in the shadows vibrating his voice.
"People need to know that the two of you exist. That like others cities that we have guarding angels."
"I am fine with that. It's just the names you are using. Don't call me the streak, and my partner well she has a bit of a temper at times. She also hates Disney's ice queen."
"So what do I call you and your partner?"
"My partner likes to be called Frost. Nothing more. As for me call me the Flash."
"The Flash? Wasn't there someone called that a long time ago?"
"Yes and I have met him. You could say he has passed me the torch. Oh and for your own safety keep your name off your blog. I don't want someone to come after you thinking that they can get to Frost or me by using you."
"My dad is a cop. I know how to take care of myself."
"Ms. West, these people won't care who your father is. In fact if they knew who your father is that might cause them to hurt you even more."
"I understand what you are saying. But I want to be the next Lois Lane."
"Her writing about Superman has made her a target of his enemies. I don't want that for you. I maybe fast. But there are still things that I can't out run. If someone were to get their hands on certain kinds of bombs for example I may not be able to save you from the blast. Or if you and a small child are in a situation I might not be able to save both of you. That is a choice I don't want to have to make."
"I hear what you are saying. But I am going to keep writing and am going to put my name on it."
"There is nothing I can say to stop you is there?"
"No."
"Then let's hope that I never have to make a choice that will cost you your life."
Barry grabbed Iris and returned her to Jitters before disappearing in a flash of lightning.
While Barry was trying to talk sense into Iris. Which everyone knew was pointless. But he would at least be able to set her straight on the names of Central City's two heroes. Caitlin was beginning to work on the serum that would transfer the Firestorm powers completely to Ronnie. It was actually not much different from the one that had been used to separate Stein and Jax in the old reality after Stein had been shot during his escape from Earth-X. She was nearly done when Barry returned.
"How did it go with Iris?" asked Caitlin turning around.
"She has been set straight on mine and your sister's name. But she is just as stubborn as she was before crisis. So she won't stop her blog and is putting her name on it."
"Joe is not going to be happy about that."
"No he is not. But I think I will talk to Eddie and see if he can talk some sense into his girlfriend."
"Think he will have better luck then you?"
"No. But it's the only thing we can try."
"I would offer to try but we both know that it won't work. She and I are not close friends. The only reason that we are even in each other's lives is because she is your friend."
"Yeah I know. It is just weird that in this reality she and I didn't grow up in the same house. After dad went to prison Jesse and I went to live with Jay and Joan. Jesse considers Joan her mom. She barely remembers our mom."
"She was eight when your mom died right?"
"Yeah. Joan is a lot like mom. We should visit them soon. I mean you should talk to your mom first. Then we can restore Jay and Joan's memory."
"That would be a good idea. I always liked Jay. I mean the real Jay."
"I know what you mean. But this time if Zoom shows up we will be ready for him. Have you called J'onn yet?"
"Not yet. But I will I promise. I want to learn to control these powers I have been given. I am not making the same mistake as before. I am not going to fear them."
"Good. It could come in handy to have you be able to tell if someone is lying to us. I don't want to be played again."
"I understand that. But Barry there is no guarantee that I will be able to tell when someone is lying."
"I get that. But I am sure that J'onn will be able to help you horn that skill. Besides you did pretty well with Grodd."
"Thanks Bare. But right now it is time for Stein and Ronnie to split for good."
Caitlin grabbed two vials and walked out into the cortex.
"Ronnie, Professor I have the serum that will separate the two of you while letting Ronnie keep the Firestorm powers." Said Caitlin
"Why are there two?" asked Ronnie
"Because you each have to drink one of these. Ronnie the red one is for you. The blue is for you Professor." Said Caitlin
"This will safely separate us?" asked Stein
"Yes." Said Caitlin
The two men each took their vial click them together and drank. It only took a couple minutes for the serums to work. Ronnie called on his powers and his hands lit on fire. He then was able to raise off the ground and float.
"So Ronnie do you hear or feel a anything coming from Stein?" asked Cisco
"Nope. It is nice and quiet in my head. No offense Professor but I like having my mind to myself." Said Ronnie
"None taken. I too am enjoying not having you in my head."
"Well now that Ronnie is free of Stein we are going on a date. Cisco, Kamilia is working tonight. As long as you don't drink a huge amount you can have a few drinks on the house." Said Charlie
"I would never do that to you."
"I know but I had to remind you."
"I get that. Have fun with Ronnie."
"You know I will."
"I believe I will head home to my wife." Said Stein
"Have a good night Professor." Said Caitlin
"How about we have a date night Cait?" asked Barry
"How about we just get Chinese and go home and watch a movie? I will even agree to Grease if that is what you want." Said Caitlin
"Just don't let her sing along. My sister is tone deaf." Said Charlie
"You are one to talk. Last time you tried to sing when we lived together Mrs. Jennings across the hall thought a cat was dying." Said Caitlin
"Well cats suck. Dogs are much better." Said Charlie
"I got to agree with Charlie there. Cait maybe when we buy a house we can get a dog. I mean we are going to have kids and kids should have a dog to play with." Said Barry
"Wait when did we ever talk about buying a house? Yes I want kids. I know your dad wants grandkids. I even think my mom wants grandkids. But we never talked about it." Said Caitlin
"Then we should. I mean any kids we have will be beautiful and smart like their mom." Said Barry
"Well their dad is no slouch either." Said Caitlin
"How many times do I have to say no flirting or making out in the lab!" yelled Cisco
"If Kamilia ever comes here the same goes for you!" yelled Charlie, Caitlin, Barry and Ronnie
Everyone headed out after that for whatever they had planned for the night.
