Part 17
Barry walked into his and Caitlin's apartment with two bags of Chinese from their favorite take out place. He smiled as he heard his wife's off key singing over the shower. It was actually nice to know that it wasn't the fact she was drunk that she sang so badly. That it was just part of who she was. He walked over and knocked on the bathroom door before sticking his head in.
"Dinner is here Cait." He said
"I'll be out in a couple minutes. Will you pour me a glass of wine?"
"Of course white or red tonight?"
"White you got me sweet and sour chicken right?"
"Of course that and orange chicken are your favorites."
"You know me so well. Go set everything up in front of the tv and I will be right there."
"Sure thing. And we are watching Grease."
"I knew you would pick that."
Barry went back to the living room set the food out poured Caitlin her glass of wine and grabbed a beer for himself. Caitlin came out five minutes later dressed in a pair of pajama pants and a Star Labs t-shirt that hung off her shoulder. He raised an eyebrow noticing the polar bear slippers on her feet.
"Don't say anything Bartholomew. Your dad gave them to me for Christmas last year. I like them they are really warm."
"If I remember right he gave me a matching pair. In fact I will be right back."
Barry flashed off into the bedroom returning seconds later dressed nearly identical to Caitlin. Caitlin just smiled started the movie and they ate their dinner.
"Cisco would tease us about dressing alike." Said Barry at one point.
"Hey you are the one that copied me!" said Caitlin shoving a piece of chicken into her mouth with her chop sticks.
"I know. Iris never could master chop sticks. When we went out for sushi she had to use a fork. That was when we were just friends."
"Well I learned as a kid. Before my dad left or died whatever the case maybe in this reality we took a trip to Japan. Charlie and I were nine. It was fun. But they give you this look for asking for a fork in anything other then an American or European restaurant."
"It is an insult to them I guess."
"Probably."
"So I take it Charlie can use chop sticks."
"Yeah she can. But I would rather not talk about my sister. If I didn't know better I would think you had a thing for her."
"What?! No way! I mean I like her as a friend. But you are way more my type."
"Good to hear. So I guess after my visit to my mother tomorrow we should set up a day for that triple date that Iris wants to go on."
"Yeah. I can do that with Ronnie while you two are away."
"Just remember Charlie will not agree to Friday or Saturday nights. Because I don't think we can delay it until around Thanksgiving. Not that we could go out the night before that anyway."
"Big bar nights. I get it. Sunday night is probably the slowest right?"
"Yeah."
"I will see if a Sunday works for everyone then."
"I will ask Charlie on the drive to see mom. It is an hour and half drive after all."
"You are going to be ok seeing your mom?"
"Yeah I mean once I restore her memory it might be a little hard. But we were getting along better after dad tried turning her into an ice meta. Then his evil ice personality tried to kill me. I think that part of the issues she and I had, were because she felt guilty that she didn't try and stop him from using me as a lab rat. But that wasn't me in this reality. It was Charlie only she didn't get the other personality."
"That is a good thing. She has enough issues to deal with. Such as her occasional anger management issues."
"They are a bit better now. Before Cisco gave me the power dampener neckless her and your thoughts were the strongest I could hear. Ronnie has really changed her."
"It isn't weird for you to have your twin in a relationship with the man you were married to in a different reality?"
"Not really. I got over Ronnie a long time ago. Barry, even before Ronnie had come back in the old reality I had fallen for you. That whole karaoke thing never would have happened other wise. I knew I was safe with you. That is the only reason I let myself get that drunk."
"I think that is a habit of yours. When we were in college together in this reality you got drunk more then once. Heck back when I could get drunk I was right there with you."
"Well now you don't have to pretend you didn't sneak a peek at my goods. You have permission to do that as long as we are alone and no one can walk in on us."
"You are a bit of a temptress Dr. Snow-Allen"
"It's just Dr. Allen. I am a bit old fashioned. I think a husband and wife should share a name. Though I do recall that you were willing to change your name to Snow. But I talked you out of it. It would have driven Captain Singh crazy to stop yelling Allen at you when you screwed up."
"Yeah it would."
They finished their dinner Barry then cleaned up. When he returned to the living room he sat back down and Caitlin curled up with him. They spent the rest of the night watching movies and enjoying each other's company.
Thawne phased through the wall of the long abandoned Tanhouser arctic research lab. He walked through the dark building glaring when he saw that the monitors that should be showing the feed from Star labs, the Ice Palace and both of the apartments of the Snow twins were nothing but static. The only cameras that were working were the ones from Dr. Tannhouser's office and home. He turned when he heard a sound. He smiled when he saw who he had come to see.
"My old friend how would you like to get revenge on your wife for locking you away? How would you like to get your girls back?" asked Thawne
"Why free me now Thawne? I mean you only helped me in the first place because it helped you with your goals."
"Because in order to achieve my goal of destroying Barry Allen, I need you to keep your pain in the ass daughters out of the way. Charlene unfortunately has decided to join with the so called heroes."
"And Caitlin?"
"She is married to Allen."
"If we can't turned them then unfortunately I may have to end both of them."
Thawne just smiled grabbed the man once known as Thomas Snow and both were gone in a flash of red lightning.
