Part 27

Caitlin looked up when she heard a knock on the door to her lab. She looked over to see her mom in the doorway.

"I don't know if he told you but Barry had to leave." Said Carla

"I know. His boss Captain Singh wanted an official report about what happened. He won't reveal that dad is Icicle."

"That is good. Honey, Barry told your dad that he is your husband."

"I was going to tell him eventually. But right now I just want to get this done."

"I understand. Caitlin, are you going to give him his memory of the old universe?"

"Not unless I have to. It was different with you. After he died for real in the old reality you and I finally started to connect. To really become mother daughter. Something that we never had when I was younger in either reality."

"I know. I never should have frozen you out in either reality. Or your sister in this one."

"Technically, you did worse in the old reality to Frost. You helped lock her away. Had you not done that I would have learn to accept her and she never would have gone to the dark side."

"I regret that. I let my fear that Frost was going to be like Icicle control me. I should have given her a chance."

"You need to make things right with Charlie mom. She is under the impression that because she is not into science that you don't accept her for who she is. You know she sold a painting at the CCPD police athletic league charity auction for fifteen hundred dollars last month? That was the most money of any other item."

"I had no idea. The money all went to the athletic fund?"

"Yes. Charlie is not nearly as cold as she acts at times. She has a soft spot for kids. If she knew I told you she would give me frostbite."

"Your sister loves you. I know that Charlie isn't as cold as she acts. Caitlin, when your father was taken over by Icicle, I was devastated. He is the love of my life. I mean besides you girls. In the old reality I didn't know that Thomas was going to use the treatment on you. If I had I never would have let it happen until you had been old enough to make that choice yourself."

"Frost was not Icicle. In fact having her saved my life. I actually died mom."

"Julian Albert told me when he came to me to make that cure. A cure that didn't work."

"That is because I didn't need to be cured. I needed to accept the part of me that became Frost. Once I did that and she accepted me we came to a mostly peaceful coexistence."

"Honey, I made many mistakes. I admit it. But I have always loved you and I love your sister."

"Love you too mom. Just promise me that when the time comes you will be a better grandma then you were a mom."

"That will be easy. Grandma's spoil their grandchildren."

"Just not to bad ok?"

"I make no promises. How close are you to finishing the dose of the cure?"

"I'm done. But we are doing nothing until Barry and Ronnie can be here."

"That is probably for the best."

"Mom, you need to try harder with Charlie. You really need to accept that she was never going to be a scientist."

"I know. It is just hard. I don't know how to relate to your sister."

"How about just spend time with her and really get to know her."

"Do you think that she would be willing to do that?"

"Well, I don't know for sure. But what do you have to lose if you don't ask?"

"Nothing I can only gain a better understanding of one of my girls. Though I would like to get to know you better too."

"I would like that."

Ronnie pushed Charlie's hair out of her face. Then he gently wiped a tear from her face.

"Charlie, what is wrong?"

"Nothing."

"Don't lie. You forget that I know you. You only cry why you are feeling hurt. So want to try again?"

"Ronnie, it is just that I feel like the only one in my family that never wanted to change me is Caity. I mean my mom never approved that I wanted nothing to do with a career in science. My dad used me as a lab rat giving me these powers. Well they were dormant until the particle accelerator exploded. But other than telling me she hated nearly every guy I ever dated Caity just let me be me."

"I think both your parents love you. Your dad did what he did because he didn't want you to suffer an illness that wouldn't let you be the artist you are. Your mom just doesn't relate to what you like. But you need to try with her just like she needs to try more with you. I support whatever you want to do. As for Caitlin, she is your sister, your twin literally your other half. Hell from what I have been told you two literally shared a body in the old reality."

"That is true. She didn't want me at first. But when she thought she lost me, Cisco said she did everything she could to get me back."

"That tells you how much she has grown to love you. As for guys from what I know I am the best of the bunch."

Charlie hit Ronnie laughing.

"Caity, really should not comment on my dating life. She is the one in the old reality got into a relationship and fell for a psychopath serial killer speedster that wanted to destroy the multiverse."

"Well wasn't that when she was on the rebound after I died in the singularity?"

"Yeah so I just write it off as her not thinking straight. But she is right I use to go for bad boys. I never loved any of them. But you are different. I love you."

"Love you too Elsa."

"Don't call me Elsa."

Ronnie just smiled and kissed his girlfriend.
