Sorry for the delay in this chapter. I was going to update a few days ago. But I just couldn't do it after the last episode. I still can't believe that Frost died. But rest assured Frost will not die in this or any other story I write. Long live the Ice Queen!

Part 28

Barry flashed back into Star labs after his meeting with Singh. He looked around and didn't see his wife anywhere.

"She is with your Martian friend in the speed lab. He is helping her get a better grip on her powers. He asked to be left alone with her." Said Carla

"What about Charlie and Ronnie? Or Cisco?"

"Cisco left to meet his girlfriend for a date. As for my other daughter and her boyfriend they haven't returned. I think Charlie blames me for her being locked away in Caitlin's head in old reality."

"Carla, I don't think that is true."

"But it is true. I saw what happened to the man I love and the monster he became. I was scared that Frost was going to be the same way. When Frost first started to surface Caitlin came to me for help."

"I know. That was hard for her."

"Barry, I love Caitlin and I love Charlie. I made the same mistake in both realities. Instead of being there and helping the girls through their grief of losing their father, I pushed them away and buried myself my work. I wanted to find a cure for Thomas. Turns out that I was not going to be able to cure him. One of my beautiful genius daughters was going to be the one that would be able to create something that is the best shot at permanently bringing back my husband."

"Maybe you should tell both of your daughters that they are geniuses in their own right. Charlie believes that just because she is into art that you don't think she is smart."

"Charlie is just as smart as Caitlin. She just didn't get straight A's like Caitlin."

"Cait didn't get straight A's. She got a D in gym."

"That is true. Charlie did get an A in gym and art. But mostly Charlie got C's because academics didn't interest her."

"Well she does enjoy Rebecca Sliver romance novels."

"Aren't those kind of erotic?"

"Yes. We actually know Rebecca, and she is actually a he."

"That is interesting."

"He is also not the smartest guy to walk the Earth in any reality I have met him in. Even though he is a reformed criminal he isn't all bad. But part of the way he is, is because of his childhood. From what I know compared to his parents you would have won parent of the year. His dad was abusive and his mom didn't protect him."

"I don't think that either of my girls would agree."

"Actually mom, you may have been emotionally detached but deep down Charlie and I knew you loved us. Besides you never hurt us for messing up." Said Caitlin walking in with J'onn.

"So how did it go?" asked Barry

"J'onn helped me to determine that my lack of control when my emotions are heightened is caused by my pent up anger about neither of my parents being there emotionally as a kid. But as I learn to let it go and forgive both of them I should no longer send out or pick up on thoughts unless I want to."

"For the short time Caitlin has had these powers she has a good grip on them." Said J'onn

"That is good news. As much as I love my wife I would like to be able to surprise her once in a while." Said Barry

"You know I hate surprises." Said Caitlin

"I seem to recall that you did like the surprise dinner I made you when I asked you to marry me." Said Barry

"Well every girl likes when a man cooks her an edible meal." Said Caitlin

"It is true. Thomas could actually cook very well. He learned from his mother and grandmother." Said Carla

"Grandma Snow is the one that taught me to cook and bake. She tried to teach Charlie. But it didn't go very well." Said Caitlin

"I never did understand how your sister could burn soup." Said Carla

"Charlie used too much heat and easily got distracted. But looking back she was always cold. Still is to my knowledge. So the fact that she is an ice meta makes some sense. That and she is in love with a guy that literally can lite on fire." Said Caitlin

"That is true she was always cold even before your father messed with her DNA." Said Carla

"Cait can Ronnie cook?" ask Barry

"A little. But it is mostly heating up something already made. He really likes his pizza and burgers. They may end up hiring a housekeeper if they have kids." Said Caitlin

Charlie and Ronnie walked in.

"Who said that I am going to have any kids?" asked Charlie

"No one honey. We were just talking about how your grandmother tried to teach you to cook." Said Carla

"So you were telling Barry that I can't even heat up soup unless it is in a microwave." Said Charlie

"I don't care if you can boil water or not Char. I love you for who you are." Said Ronnie

"I know babe." Said Charlie

"Barry, you and Ronnie should go get dad. It is time to give him the cure and get rid of that monster Icicle for good." Said Caitlin

The two guys nodded and headed down to the pipeline.

"Charlie, I want you to know that I was never disappointed that you didn't go into science. In fact I am so proud of you for being true to yourself. In fact you are not the first artist in the Tannhouser family. My grandfather was a struggling artist. I just was concerned that you won't be able to make a living doing art." Said Carla

"That is why I have the bar. I know it is not going to be easy. But it is what makes me happy. I don't want to be treated like Caity."

"If I ever did treat you like your sister I am truly sorry. Will you please give me another chance?"

"I can do that. But don't expect me to forgive dad right away."

"Oh that is the last thing I expect. In fact I was not to happy when I found out what he did to you."

Charlie smiled and hugged Carla. Carla then turned to Caitlin and hugged her too. The guys returned then with Thomas still cuffed. Thomas was taken into the med lab and Caitlin injected him with the meta cure. She then removed the meta cuffs and waited.

"Caitlin?" asked Thomas

"What?"

"I don't know what I did to make you upset with me."

"You used Charlie as a science experiment. If you had found I had the gene that can cause ALS you would have done the same thing to me. Charlie always has felt that neither you or mom accepted the fact that she didn't give a damn about science. You used an untested treatment on her after doing that to yourself. Thawne who had taken over Harrison Wells life is a psychopath. He hates Barry because in some distant possible future Barry steals his chance at being a hero. Ever think that is part of the reason that Icicle came into existence? What if that had happened to Charlie? What if I had lost my sister to some ice demon?"

"I just wanted to prevent your sister from suffering the way I did. I didn't think that there would be side effects like there were. But you are right I didn't treat Charlie like my daughter. I owe her an apology."

"I am not letting you near her until I know the cure worked."

Thomas nodded. Caitlin used a scanner and looked over the results then took a blood sample. After checking it she called in her mom to double check. Carla looked at the slide with Thomas's blood on it. After a few minutes she turned to Caitlin and smiled.

"It worked there is no cryogenic abnormality in his blood any more." Said Carla

"So I am cured?" asked Thomas

"Yes and there is also no sign of ALS either." Said Caitlin

"That is good. I want to get to know my girls and the men they love." Said Thomas

"Not right now. I need to go." Said Caitlin

Caitlin grabbed her things and then grabbed Barry and left Star Labs.
