Part 30
Charlie hung up her phone and smiled at Ronnie.
"Caity got us out of going to dinner with Iris and Eddie. She and Barry still got to go. But at least we don't." said Charlie
"What is your issue with Iris? I only met her briefly in the old reality." Said Ronnie
"She is self centered and if it hadn't been for her then Caity would have had Barry around to help her deal with me when we shared one body. I turned to the dark side because she was so scared of me. But Barry would have helped her accept me and I would never have gone dark."
"Well from what I know Iris is never going to be let on the team this time."
"She doesn't belong on the team. Never did. She offered nothing to it. She made herself team leader while Barry was trapped in the speed force after he left Cisco in charge. I love Cisco but when it came to Iris he had no backbone."
"You of course do."
"Of course I do. I did talk to some of my sources and Amunet is in business. So we need to do something about her before she gets too powerful."
"We will. But there is something we do need to talk about. Your parents."
"What is there to talk about? My dad used me as a lab rat and mom didn't stop him."
"Honey, your dad thought he was doing what was best for you. He didn't want you to get sick. It is ok to be angry about it. But you need to work things out with them. Don't you want our kids to know their grandparents?"
"What kids are you talking about? Cause unless you some how got pregnant there ain't no kids."
"Charlie, there are no kids right now. But I do want a family with you. I love you. I want to marry you."
"Are you asking me to marry you?"
"Well I hadn't planned to this way. But yeah I guess I am. Charlene Nicole Snow will you marry me?"
"Yes I will marry you Ronnie."
Ronnie smiled and wrapped his arms around her and kissed her deeply. They broke and smiled at each other.
"Well I wasn't planning on asking you to marry me like that. So I don't have a ring, and it is kind of late to get one tonight." Said Ronnie
"So we go get one tomorrow. But you can take me out for dinner tonight. Pizza at Mario's?"
"A woman after my own heart."
Charlie smiled and the two of them headed out leaving Thomas and Carla alone in Star Labs.
"They aren't going to say goodbye?" asked Thomas
"Thomas, my relationship with Charlie is very strained. Even worse then it is with Caitlin. She won't talk to me unless she has to. It is mostly my fault. I never approved of her choices in her career or in boys she dated. I didn't accept her for the individual that she is. Though from what I have seen I do like Ronnie. We just need to give her time. We both need to make up a lot to both girls."
"Neither seem to want me to be in their life right now."
"Just give them time. But Caitlin does have a point. We were both bad parents. Truth is if anyone had found out what you did to Charlie we would have lost both of them."
"I never even considered that we could lose them."
"Of course you didn't you were too focused on curing your ALS and making sure neither of the girls suffered from it. If you had told me what you had planned I never would have let you give that treatment to our daughter. But we can't change the past. Just hope once they both have calmed down they forgive you."
"Are they going to forgive you Carla?"
"Well that is up in the air. But I hope so."
Caitlin followed Barry through the restaurant to the table that Iris and Eddie were sitting at. When they reached the table Barry pulled out a chair for Caitlin. Then he took the seat next to her.
"It's great that we can do this." Said Iris
"Yeah." Said Caitlin
"Well Cait has been kind of busy. When Dr. Wells disappeared it turns out he left Star Labs to both her and me." Said Barry
"Really how did you find that out?" asked Iris
"Cecile found some papers he filed at City hall about it after I found some documents on my desk. He didn't say why. But it becomes official in about 30 days. But if he has not been in touch with his lawyer in more then 60 days or there is no activity on any of his accounts in that time Barry and I get Star Labs, and all his money and house. So I am doing what I can to get it cleaned up and have the particle accelerator dismantled." Said Caitlin
"Are you going to reopen?" asked Eddie
"We aren't sure yet. It all depends on if we can get the government restrictions lifted." Said Barry
Just then a waiter came over with a tray with glasses of champagne placing them down on the table.
"We didn't order these." Said Barry
"The lady and gentleman over there sent them over along with this note for the lady." He said handing it to Caitlin
Caitlin read the note smiled and looked over at her sister and Ronnie. She knew they had heard her when she heard them thank her in their thoughts.
"So why did your sister send us champagne? I mean she is more of a hard liquor kind of girl." Said Barry
"Because Ronnie asked her to marry him today. They are engaged. They are going ring shopping tomorrow." Said Caitlin
"That is great. We should invite them to join us to celebrate." Said Iris
"Iris, they want to celebrate alone. They only sent the champagne to share the good news." Said Caitlin
Besides Charlie can't stand Iris. Caitlin thought to Barry.
"Iris if they wanted to celebrate with us they would have taken you up on going to dinner with us." Said Eddie
"Ok I guess you are right. But we should at least congratulate them." Said Iris
"Just do it next time you see them." Said Barry
"Ok. So what do you guys think of the fact that the Flash and Frost seem to know Supergirl and the Green Arrow?"
"Well maybe there is a secret superhero database that they can get in touch through." Said Caitlin
"But how did they all meet? I mean it is not like they are all from the same city or something." Said Iris
"Just let it go babe. We are never going to find out how the heroes know each other." Said Eddie
"Maybe you are right."
Caitlin looked at Barry.
She is not going to give up that easily. You do know if she doesn't stop poking her nose where it doesn't belong my sister will do something about it.
*I know.
Iris looked at the other couple and could swear that they were talking to each other without using words.
