Part 33
Charlie smiled as she stared at the diamond ring on her left hand. It was not flashy but was still nice. They were sitting in Belly Burger getting something to eat after finding the ring.
"Charlie, can you tell me any more about Zoom?" asked Ronnie
"There isn't a lot to tell. He is an evil bastard that screwed with Caity's emotions. He killed Barry's dad. Kidnapped Caity and really traumatized her. He made Barry race him in an effort to destroy the multiverse."
"Well we aren't going to let any of that happen. Definitely not letting that monster take your sister."
"I know. Barry has us this time to have his back."
"We should probably head back to Star Labs to see if there is a plan in place to take this guy down."
"Good idea."
Charlie kissed Ronnie and the two of them headed out. Neither noticed the man watching them. A man who had plans to kill them both to get what he wanted. What he wanted was the speed of every speedster on earth. Starting with the Flash and not the old man one either. Though he would take the old man's speed too before killing him. He got up and headed out of the restaurant. It was time to bring the Flash out of hiding.
Charlie and Ronnie were walking into Star Labs when Carla and Thomas walked up. They waited for them and let them in with them.
"May I ask how you keep unauthorized speedsters out? Or metas or aliens that can teleport?" asked Carla
"There is a force field that has a rotating vibrational frequency. That keeps metas such as speedsters or aliens that can phase out. We have also been able to install an anti teleport field. We are still tweaking the anti breach field. We want to keep unwanted breachers out. But still want Cisco to be able to breach in if he needs too." Said Ronnie
"If you can isolate the vibrational frequency of his energy then you could make it so he is the only one that can breach in." said Thomas
"We are still working on it." Said Ronnie
"I may have some ideas on how to do it. That is if you want my help." Said Thomas
"While I think that is a good idea. I have to check that it is ok with Barry and Caitlin. They have any actually say in who can access the systems."
"I understand." Said Thomas
Carla was watching Charlie. She could tell that her daughter while not thrilled that either her or Thomas were there, was happy. She knew that it had to do with the young man with her. When Charlie pushed a purple strand of her hair behind her ear, Carla caught sight of the light hitting the ring now on her left hand.
"Charlie, are congratulations in order?" asked Carla
"Ronnie and I are getting married. He asked me last night." Said Charlie
"I am happy for you honey. It looks like Ronnie makes you happy." Said Carla
"He does mom. Caity already knows. I am going to ask her to be my matron of honor."
"You know she will say yes."
"I know. Mom, I do want to work on our relationship. I just need time to get use to the idea that you really accept me not being a scientist."
"Charlie, I was just worried that you wouldn't be able to make a living. But I was wrong. You are very talented. Caitlin told be about the painting that you donated for that charity."
"It brought in more money than anything else in the auction. I have sold others too. I know it may take a while to really take off that is why I have the bar."
"I want you to know I am proud of you. I am proud that you never let anyone tell you that you shouldn't follow your dreams."
"Thanks mom that means so much to have you say that."
The four of them entered the cortex. They found everyone but Barry back. Caitlin as soon as she saw her sister went over to her and hugged her before looking at the ring.
"I am so happy for you Char. We are going to make sure that Zoom doesn't kill Ronnie like he did his Earth-2 counterpart in the old reality." Said Caitlin
"Well we got the advantage that I am not locked away in your head this time."
"I know. But we both know that he is not going to stop until he takes the speed of every speedster and kills them."
"Not going to happen. I am not letting that monster take your speedster from you."
"Charlie so should we tell everyone our news?" asked Ronnie
Charlie nodded and went to the arms of the man she loves more than anything.
"Everyone last night Ronnie asked me to marry him. I said yes." Said Charlie
"That is great!" said Jesse hugging both Charlie and Ronnie
"About time man! If you are looking for a best man I am your man." Said Cisco
"Sorry Cisco, I am planning to ask Barry. He and I have known each other since college in this reality. Besides you know who Charlie is going to ask to be matron of honor." Said Ronnie
"I get it."
"But I do want you to be a groomsman."
"You got it buddy."
"Caity?" said Charlie
"What is it Char?" asked Caitlin
"Well you know when you married Barry, I was your maid of honor. So will you be my matron of honor?" asked Charlie
"You don't even have to ask. Of course I will be your matron of honor." Said Caitlin
Charlie hugged her sister. When they pulled apart Caitlin went over to Ronnie and gave him a hug.
"I am happy for you Ronnie." Said Caitlin
"Thanks Cait. I really do love your sister."
"I know you do."
Outside of Jitters Iris was heading for her car after grabbing a coffee to head to CCPD to tell Eddie she got the job at CCPN when she was grabbed and whisked away in a streak of lightning. At first she though it was the Flash wanting to talk to her. But when they stopped in an abandoned warehouse she found that she was chained to a post and face to face with a man in a black suit and full mask. The suit reminded her of the one worn by the Flash.
"Who are you and why have you taken me?" asked Iris
"I am Zoom! You are bait for the Flash so that I can take his speed and kill him."
Iris felt a cold chill go down her spine. Whoever this monster was he was pure evil.
