Allie's excitement at spending the night with them was infectious. Exploring what could be their new home was the most exciting thing that had happened to her in a long time, not counting the wedding. She barely stopped smiling as they prepared a meal together in the kitchen, sitting before the fire, reading, talking, and appreciating their first night as a family in their new home.

Nathan had arranged to get a note to Mr Lewis while they were in Town, asking him to come and see them about the Cabin. He hadn't said in the message they wanted to buy it as Allie hadn't seen it, but he thought Mr Lewis would understand their intentions.

Once the dishes were drying, Allie went to her room to change for bed, wanting to spend some time alone, reading in her room. She knew her Dad and Quinn wouldn't mind if she left them alone for a little while. Allie grinned, happy to see them together, in this house. The three of them being there, not having to walk Quinn home, felt so right; for the first time in a long time, she didn't feel like something was missing.

Nathan and Quinn allowed Allie enough time to change and get into bed before they went in to see her and say goodnight. It felt so natural for him and Quinn to walk to her room together to say goodnight, the two wishing his girl a goodnight.

Quinn and Nathan leaned in the doorway as Allie snuggled into bed, settling herself in with her book and a journal. She hadn't been able to decide which one she wanted.

"Goodnight, Allie; we will be right down the hall if you need us," Nathan said, smiling.

"Sweet dreams, Allie," Quinn said.

"Night," Allie looked around, "please don't be offended, Dad, but I already love this room. I loved the room at the row house too, but this one feels more grown up."

"Of course not, Allie. I love our new house too."

Quinn and Nathan stood a moment longer, watching as her concentration shifted to her book before closing her door.

Sitting on the lounge, they relaxed, discussing their plans for the next day and which direction they would ride to show Allie the best parts of the property.

"I can't wait until it's officially ours. I hope Mr Lewis gets your note and comes tomorrow."

"I hope so too; Robert said he would take the note to him first thing in the morning when he delivers the newspaper and the mail."

"We need to talk about how we will pay for the house, Nathan," Quinn said. She knew Nathan didn't like to discuss money. He had been very uncomfortable when he found out she was planning for him to have access to the money from her Father.

"Quinn, I will pay for the house."

"Okay, using my money."

Nathan shook his head, "Quinn, I can provide for us."

"I know that, but so can I, and why is you doing it all by yourself, fair to me? I want to buy this house too; I will live here with you, Allie, and our other children." Taking his hand, she stroked the back of it, "I want this to be something we do together, the way I want to do everything important in our lives. I want to share it with you."

Nathan knew Quinn was right; they should share the important moments. The differences in their finances made him uncomfortable when he thought about it. Nathan was alright financially; he and Allie lived a simple life, so he had savings, but there wouldn't be an inheritance from his side, not the way she had received one. Nathan knew that he shouldn't deny Quinn the chance to share in owning their home, to use her money for their family because of his concerns.

"I'm sorry, Quinn, you're right. We will share the payment on the house."

Quinn wanted to argue, but she felt that having come this far was enough. As they settled into their lives, she hoped Nathan would become more comfortable using what she had for their family.

"Fine, we will share it," she said, kissing him "see, isn't it so much better when you agree with me."

It was Nathan's turn to roll his eyes while stealing a kiss, "of course, it would be even better if you agreed with me."

Nathan and Quinn debated what to do regarding an offer to Mr Lewis. They wanted to respect the beautiful home he had created and the loss of his daughter and grandchild.

"I am not sure what the right offer is; how do you include all the furniture and things he has inside, plus the barn?" The last thing Nathan wanted to do was insult the man who had created the place they loved and wanted to call home.

"I wonder if we should let him lead the discussion and ask him what payment he thinks is fair; that way, we have some guide."

"That sounds like a good idea. Quinn, Mr Lewis is shy about things like this and a little old-fashioned. I am not trying to exclude you, but I think it would be better if I talked to him one-on-one."

Quinn smiled at her husband, the original shy man and said, "of course, Allie and I will find something to do while the two of you chat."

Nathan and Quinn were in their room getting ready for bed, finalising plans for the next day, when she started to laugh.

"What's so funny?"

"You are, Nathan; why are you whispering?"

"Allie is down the hall; she might hear us."

"Talking?" Quinn knew what he was thinking about but decided to play dumb.

"For now."

"What do you think she might hear later?" Quinn whispered in his ear, trailing her fingers down his arm.

"Quinn, stop it; you know what I am trying to say."

"I do, Nathan. I promise I will keep the noise down if you will."

"Maybe we should just...not."

Quinn snorted, "of course, Nathan, if that's what you want, we can do that. See how easily I agreed with you; I didn't argue."

Nathan watched his wife, eyes narrowing at her easy surrender. As Quinn walked over to her chest of drawers and withdrew her flimsiest nightgown, he groaned. He should have known she was going to make this hard for him.

Standing before the fire in their bedroom, he watched as Quinn slipped from her clothing, one piece at a time. When she stood before the fire, naked, he couldn't take it anymore; within seconds, he was at her side, taking her into his arms and capturing her mouth in a kiss.

"Wait, I thought we were not," Quinn gasped when she was able to speak.

"Quinn, there are times when you should argue with me; this was one of those times."

Quinn laughed, the husky sound tipping Nathan over the edge; he quickly shed his clothes and joined his wife in bed.

The Grant family ate a massive breakfast at record speed; they were all keen to ride around the property and spend the day exploring.

Riding the land, Allie spent a lot of time trying to convince her Father she needed a horse of her own. The horse she borrowed from the Livery was okay but not the one she imagined owning.

Nathan listened patiently to Allie; he wished he could tell her he agreed, but he wanted to surprise her. Some time ago, Nathan asked Gabe to help him source a horse through Tess Stewart, a ranch owner in Brookfield. Gabe had let him know she had found the perfect horse. When they went to Brookfield for the wedding, he would let Allie meet the horse, and if she felt the connection, they would bring her home.

"I was thinking of getting you a bicycle to ride to school," Nathan said calmly, winking at Quinn out of sight from Allie.

Allie's eyes lit up; she wanted a bicycle too, "that sounds great, Dad; I would be happy with that." Allie knew they weren't rich, and horses were expensive, so she would be satisfied with the bike, even though she couldn't bring it out on trails like they were on now.

Quinn looked pleadingly at Nathan; she hated to see Allie disappointed. Nathan didn't want to tell her about the horse, so he decided distraction might be best.

"Quinn and I also talked about getting a car for the two of you to use when it is too cold to ride the horses into Town."

"A car! Really, when?" Allie's eyes lit up; she had only been in a car a few times and loved it. As soon as she was old enough, she wanted to learn how to drive. She might even learn to ride a motorcycle like Ms Fiona.

"Well, we should think about getting it sooner rather than later; I will talk to Mr Coulter about it when we get settled; he has had several cars. I might even take him with me when I go and look. I don't suppose you would like to come as well?" Nathan teased, knowing how much Allie loved cars.

"Of course, I want to come, can I pick the colour? Please."

Nathan looked at Quinn, who nodded and laughed, "Of course, you can."

Allie chattered about bicycles, cars, and horses, excited at the prospect of all three. Despite her excitement about a car, it wasn't the same as having your own horse, though.

When they returned home, Nathan was pleased to find Mr Lewis waiting for them on the Porch. Quinn offered to take care of Newton, giving Nathan the perfect opportunity to meet with Mr Lewis alone.

"Mr Lewis," Nathan said, reaching out to shake his hand, "It's good of you to come so quickly."

"No problem, Constable, I had to go into Town anyway, and when Robert gave me your note, I decided to head up this way before going home." He looked around the Cabin and back to Nathan, "I haven't been up here in a while; I organised for Miss Latham to clean it for you and your wife. I forgot how pretty it was."

Nathan's gaze followed Mr Lewis taking in the view from the Verandah; when he spoke, his voice was gentle, "you did a beautiful job with the Cabin, inside and out. Quinn and I fell in love with the place, and so did Allie." Nathan paused and then pressed on, "if you are still interested in selling the place, we would love to buy it. When I imagine coming home to my family, this Cabin is what I picture."

Mr Lewis could see the sincerity in Nathan's eyes, his love for his family and his desire to provide them with a home, not a house. Grief for his family overwhelmed him, and he looked away, hiding the tears which stung his eyes.

"When I built the Cabin, I wanted to provide a home for my daughter and granddaughter after my son-in-law died. I wanted a place they could come to that would allow them to grieve, move on and be happy. I don't want that wasted. I want a family to live here." Brushing away the moisture from his eyes, he said, "I want that family to be yours. I always respected you stepping in and raising your niece like you did, and your wife, after everything she has been through, I think your family should live in this house."

"Thank you, Mr Lewis. I promise we will value and respect this home you created; we will fill it with joy and love."

"That's all I ask."

"Quinn and I were hoping you could tell us what you think the Cabin is worth; we have no real idea and don't want to insult you by offering the wrong amount." Nathan hadn't planned to tell Mr Lewis this, but it seemed fitting.

Mr Lewis looked at him thoughtfully, then smiled; fishing around in his pockets, he drew out paper and a pencil and wrote on it. He passed the note to Nathan, "I think this is a fair price."

Nathan looked at the paper, and his eyes widened in shock, "Mr Lewis, I might not have known what to offer, but I know it should be well above this. It's too low."

"I don't need the money, Constable, and I don't need this Cabin sitting empty, reminding me of why it is. You and your family are doing me a favour, taking it off my hands."

"But Mr..."

"That's my final offer," Mr Lewis said, his face set firm but a smile in his eyes.

Before Nathan could say anything else, Quinn and Allie appeared from the Barn. Quinn frowned when she saw Nathan's face, worried the discussion hadn't gone well. The Cabin already held her heart, they couldn't lose it now, and if it were a matter of money, Nathan would have to accept her contributing more than half.

As she stood beside Nathan, he placed a piece of paper in her hand, whispering, "this is the price Mr Lewis would like."

Nodding, Quinn took the paper, but before reading it, she greeted Mr Lewis. "I am so pleased to see you, Mr Lewis; thank you again for allowing us to use the Cabin; it's beautiful."

Allie stepped forward and said, "thank you from me too, I love the Cabin, and I hope we can live here. I am sorry your daughter and granddaughter didn't get to see it. They would have loved it just as much as we do."

Nathan and Quinn exchanged a glance, smiling at Allie's sweetness. Quinn took a moment to look at the paper, her heart racing in anticipation. When the amount she saw registered, her eyes flicked to Nathan, her brow furrowing in confusion when he shrugged.

Mr Lewis saw the look pass between Quinn and Nathan and said, "as I explained to your husband, that's my final offer. I won't enter into negotiations on the price I have given."

"Mr Lewis..." Quinn started to try and argue with him before he stopped her.

"If you want to do something more, invite me out to dinner sometime; let me see the house filled with your happy family."

It was Quinn's turn to be overwhelmed, and she reached out and hugged him, unable to stop herself, "you are welcome here anytime; we would be delighted to have you spend time here."

Mr Lewis patted her on the back and grumbled a little, but Nathan could see he didn't mind.

"We would like to move in as soon as possible; as soon as I get back to work, I will draw up the papers so we can sign them."

"Well, don't feel you have to move out before then; you're here already; you may as well stay while we wait for the papers."

Allie squealed in delight, and it was her turn to wrap Mr Lewis in a hug, "Oh, thank you so much; I love my room here; I didn't want to leave it."

Mr Lewis returned her hug before looking at Nathan and asking, "you aren't thinking of hugging me, are you, son."

"Not if you don't want me to," he laughed as he reached out and clapped Mr Lewis on the arm. "I think a handshake will do."

The Cabin was theirs; Nathan could hardly believe it. A year ago, he would never imagine this day would come, that he could be so happy with his life.

"I think we should call it something to do with our surname."

"Grant Manor sounds very posh."

"Maybe a little too posh."

"What are you Ladies trying to do? Think up a name for the Cabin?"

"Yes, and we can't decide, there are too many ideas, and none of them has felt right."

"I want something that sums up how we feel about the house, and while I love Allie's idea about using our surname, that isn't about the feeling I get from our home."

"What's the thing you love about the house?"

"The view from the Verandah is breathtaking, no matter which way you look because we are up high, and inside I feel cosy and safe."

"Quinn, do you agree with Allie?"

"Yes, she described how I feel perfectly."

Mhhm, so it's our haven, with a pretty view outside on a hill?"

"Hill view house," suggested Quinn, although her tone told him she wasn't sure.

"What about Hill View Haven?" Nathan suggested. Allie's words about feeling safe had touched him. He would always feel safe with his family and seek refuge with them when things got too much.

"Yes," Quinn smiled while Allie clapped.

"It's perfect, Dad."

It was their last day of being in the Cabin on holiday or honeymoon. They had to return to Town today to take care of things before returning to reality.

Quinn knew she should be sad the honeymoon was ending, but she wasn't because it was the beginning of their life together as a family. Quinn also wanted to work on Mr Lewis's papers and the move out of the Row house. Despite his protesting, Bill would help them move.

Nathan pottered around in the kitchen while he waited for Quinn and Allie. He was excited about the house, and while he usually hated moving, this time would be different. This time was a forever move.

Riding into the Livery, Allie was sad to let her horse go, although she knew, for now, she had to. It wasn't too far to ride to Town, and until she could get her bike organised or their car, she could ride with her Dad on Newton. It would be okay for short distances.

"Allie!" Opal called as they walked toward their row house, "you're back."

"Dad, can I go and see Opal, please? I have so much to tell her."

"Sure, but don't take too long, okay? I need you to pack your things."

Quinn smiled as Allie ran off; it would be hard for her to be away from the row house and her friends. She promised to make sure Allie got to spend time with her friends when she could; she would hate her to feel lonely.

Quinn and Nathan approached the row house, pleased to be there. For Quinn, it was bittersweet, she had started to think about this as her home, and now she would barely move in. They had decided to spend one night in the row house, packing slowly and allowing Nathan and Allie to say goodbye.

As they approached the door, Quinn felt Nathan's hand on her arm, stopping her from going forward. "Is everything alright?"

"So, there was a time when this was going to be our home. I want to carry you over the threshold," he said as he lifted her into his arms, laughing as she let out a squeal.

As he set her on the floor, he captured her mouth with his, kissing her passionately, not caring the door was still open, and anyone could see inside.

"Well, no need to ask who the honeymooners are!"

Nathan and Quinn broke apart, turning to smile at Rosemary and Lee.

"Welcome home, you too," Lee said, stepping around his wife to walk up the stairs and shake Nathan's hand.

"About that," Nathan said, "as it turns out, this isn't going to be home."

"What do you mean?" Rosemary said, following Lee inside.

Nathan and Quinn explained they were purchasing the Cabin, describing the place, the view, the stables, and how perfect it was.

"The two of you are making me quite jealous; a place like that sounds fabulous." Rosemary glanced at her husband, "maybe we should think about a larger house before our family expands."

"Okay, Rosemary, let's calm down. Their house is already built; we don't have time to build a house before the baby comes."

"Wait, I am confused. A house doesn't take as long as a baby."

"Oh, yes, well. It appears I am further along in my pregnancy than I realised. It's a long story."

"And probably one I don't need to hear," Nathan grimaced. "Lee, how about you and I talk about cars."

Rosemary laughed as Nathan walked away, ears red and his cheeks glowing. "I guess he isn't ready to hear all the gory details."

"I am. Are you okay, Rosemary? Fill me in."

"Well," Rosemary began, filling Quinn in on what she had learned from Faith. As she explained, she unpacked the basket of food she had brought with her.

Once they heard Rosemary's news, Quinn asked, "any other news we should know?

"It's not my news, so you will have to come to the Cafe for dinner with Lee and me. I am sure you will hear everyone's news there."
