Part 36
Charlie found Caitlin sitting on the step outside of the particle accelerator pipeline. She sat down next to her sister.
"So want to share why you are so moody? Cause you know I am the one that everyone expects to snap at them for no reason." Said Charlie
"I think I am pregnant."
"Why don't you take a test and find out? I mean I know you will be a good mom. Just don't do things the same way mom did. Besides you got the best guy in the world. Well after Ronnie of course."
"Char, it's just I don't know how I feel about having a baby. I mean with my luck I will end up with twins. I mean you and I are twins and Barry's mom is a twin. Hell Henry and Jay look like twins."
"So you have two kids instead of one. Yeah it will be more work but you won't be doing it alone. But first you need to take a test. If you don't want to do a home pee test then I am sure mom can help you draw blood if you need it."
"This is coming from you who avoids talking to mom every chance you get."
"Well if it helps I would rather be stranded on an island with mom than dad."
"I am not happy with dad either. He should never have used you as a science experiment. Or me on the old Earth."
"But you would have died when Abracadabra attacked. I saved your life."
"I know. Then once we learned how to accept each other I did everything I could to try and bring you back after Devoe knocked you unconscious."
"It took Icicle nearly killing the people we care about for me to break free. By the way has anyone looked Ralph up? Is he alive on this Earth?"
"I am sure he is. Barry didn't have any of our enemies die so I doubt Ralph is dead. Maybe you should look him up. Take the memory ring with you. Restore his memory and catch him up on the changes. He became a good friend to you."
"Maybe I will. Think Ronnie will like him?"
"It is possible. Now let me take a good look at that ring."
Charlie held out her hand to show her sister the half karate blue diamond ring.
"That is beautiful. Blue diamonds are pretty rare." Said Caitlin
"I know. But Ronnie told me not to worry about the price. Just pick the one I liked best. You know me I like anything blue."
"Or black, or purple. Almost anything but pink."
"I was so glad you didn't pick pink as one of your wedding colors."
"Well I couldn't have my maid of honor unhappy. Besides pink was too girly for Barry. So I chose purple."
"Yeah well you will be wearing blue at my wedding."
"I already knew that. But if I am pregnant then you will need to make a choice. Get married before I start to show. Risk me looking like a beached whale or wait nine months until I have the baby."
"First you need to find out if you are. Then we can figure it out."
"I guess it is time to talk to mom."
"Sure is. Then you got to tell Barry why you been acting so screwy."
"I will once I know for sure."
"Be sure to tell me if I am going to be an aunt."
"Why do I get the feeling you are going to be that fun aunt that lets my kids get away with whatever they want."
"Because I am."
Caitlin smiled and hugged her sister then both headed back to the cortex.
"Mom, can you help me with something in the med lab?" asked Caitlin
"Of course honey." Said Carla
"Do you need my help?" asked Thomas
"No. If I did I would ask. I am still angry with what you did to Charlie dad. I don't know if I will ever fully trust you again." Said Caitlin
"Thomas, stop pushing. Caitlin will come to you when she is ready. So will Charlie." Said Carla following Caitlin into the med lab closing the door.
Barry turned to Charlie and singled for her to follow him into the hall. She walked out and leaned against the wall.
"Is Cait ok?" asked Barry
"Caity, is not sick if that is what you are asking. She thinks that there is something going on. But wants to be sure before she tells you. Trust me if it is what she thinks it is it is very good news. Something that will make both mom and Henry very happy." Said Charlie
"Something that will make my dad and Carla very happy? Are you saying that Cait thinks she is pregnant?"
"I am not saying anything. Look Barry, let's say Caity is pregnant. Are you going to be happy about it?"
"Of course. I want kids."
"Just don't go naming any girls after your mom. I know you want to honor her. But the fact is it could also remind Caity of the daughter you had with Iris in the pre crisis timeline."
"Yeah I know. Charlie, you really are a good friend."
"You ain't so bad yourself."
They headed back into the cortex.
"Caitlin what do you need my help with?" asked Carla
"I need you to draw some of my blood. I think I might be pregnant and I have more faith in a blood test then a urine test." Said Caitlin
"Have you told Barry?"
"I want to know one way or other before I say anything. I don't want to get his hopes up if I am wrong."
"I understand. May I ask how late you are?"
"Almost three weeks. I didn't get sick this morning but was feeling a little nauseous."
"Those are both good reasons to think you are pregnant. Thanks to that memory dump you gave me I remember being pregnant on both Earths. One with just you and here with both you and your sister. I have to say my morning sickness was really bad in this one. On the old Earth with just you it was very mild. So let's see if you need to tell the Flash he is going to be a daddy."
Caitlin pulled out everything they needed and took a seat on the bed after taking off her jacket. It only took Carla a minute to take the blood sample. Caitlin watched as her mom ran the test. It only took a few minutes to run the test.
"Caitlin want to take a look?"
Caitlin looked at the results on the computer screen.
"HCG hormone level is 200% higher than normal. I'm pregnant."
"That would be my diagnosis. Are you happy about this?"
"Well timing could be better if we weren't dealing with Zoom. Not that Savitar would be any better."
"Honey do you really think that friends like you have that you have anything to worry about? I don't just mean the ones in the next room. I mean Oliver Queen and his team, Supergirl and Superman and their friends. Those time travelers and Batwoman."
"I forgot that since we restored your memory that you know the identity of the Green Arrow."
"Oliver has no need to worry about me telling his secret. Personally I think it is a good thing that he is cleaning up that city. I also agree with what those Bats do in Gotham. I met Jacob Kane once it was after his wife and one daughter died in that accident. The way he blamed Batman for it was not right. That was the fault of that psycho Joker. Batman had no way of knowing that the cable he used would break."
Caitlin bit her lip. She wondered if she could tell her mom that that crazy Alice running around Gotham was really Beth Kane the believed dead daughter of The head of the Crows.
"Caitlin is everything alright?"
"Yeah. Mom, will you tell Barry that I want to talk to him?"
"Of course. You going to tell him he is going to be a daddy?"
"Yeah. He should know."
"I will send him right in."
"Thanks mom."
"I love you and your sister. So does your father. I understand both of you being angry with him. But he wanted what was best for both of you in both realities."
"He still shouldn't have treated us as science experiments. Even if this baby has the genetic marker for ALS he will not use his treatment on them. Because I can promise that he will join Thawne in the Phantom Zone in the best case scenario."
"That is if I don't use him for my own experiment. One that he might be painful for him."
Caitlin smiled her mom had really changed. She had become the kind of mom she had always wanted. The mother bear that would do anything to protect her cubs. Even go after the father of those cubs.
