Part 41

In a dark alley on the far side of Central City a breach opened and a metal clad man fell out. Under the mask he grinned as he took off in a streak of lightning. He took up residence in an abandoned warehouse and stepped out of the suit. He smirked when he saw that his loyal pawn had everything he needed set up. Except for one thing. His pawn not being a hacker had not been able to get the feed from the cameras inside of Star Labs up and running. But he had a plan for that. It would take a trip to another Earth. But he knew which one to go to. It was an Earth that was the mirror opposite of this one. This one where both Felicity Smoak and Barbara Gordon worked with heroes on Earth 62B they were the two most wanted cyber terrorists. For the right price both would help him out. He took off at super speed and opened a breach to get one of the women.

Barry rolled over in bed and grabbed his ringing phone.

"Hello? Captain Singh what is it?"

Barry listened to his boss while watching as his wife turned to look at him. When he hung up he kissed Caitlin. It had been two months since the defeat of Zoom. Caitlin was just starting to just barely developed a baby bump.

"What is going on?" asked Caitlin

"Julian Albert is coming in today for an interview."

"Do you think that means that Savitar is back?"

"It might. Cait is it possible that you will be able to tell if he is Alchemy in this reality?"

"I'm not sure I am strong enough yet. I can try but we might need to bring in J'onn to do it if I can't."

"Well it might be a good idea to have Kara and Clark on standby in case we need the muscle."

"Um you forgot that Kara is off world right now with Charlie, Thea and Laurel Lance. They had to go find something in the remains of Fort Rozz which is in orbit around a blue dwarf star. Which kills anyone with the Y chromosome."

"We don't even know if Savitar is back yet. I don't want to restore Julian's memory just yet."

"Bare, you have nothing to worry about. I will never leave you. I never loved him. Besides in case you forgot I am having your baby."

"It is not you I am worried about. It's him."

"Don't, there is nothing that he can say to make me leave you. You are the only one I will ever sing with."

"You only sang once and you were drunk."

"You are the only one I ever got that drunk with. Charlie can hold her liquor a lot better than me. But she did start drinking at time in high school."

"Knowing your sister that doesn't surprise me. I should get ready. Don't want to be late."

"You could always tell Singh that your wife had a bad bout of morning sickness and you had to make sure she was ok before you left."

"Well it wouldn't be the first time you told a lie for me."

"I don't know what you mean."

"Yeah right coming up with lightning psychosis to cover my odd behavior around Iris and Eddie on the old Earth."

"Ok I did do that. But Eddie is in on things this time."

"But Iris still isn't. But I am good with that. I mean I think it is better that way."

"You know I support whatever you want to do with telling her or not."

"That is why I love you. I am going and will see you later."

"Love you."

Barry dressed at super speed and was gone.

Barry walked into CCPD five minutes after hanging up with Singh. He waved at Joe and Eddie on his way to Singh's office. He knocked on the door and went in when he was invited.

"Allen good you're here. This is Julian Albert. He is applying for the open CSI position. Mr. Albert this is Barry Allen the director of the CSI division. If hired he will be your immediate supervisor." Said Singh

Barry masked his surprise at being called director.

"Nice to meet you Mr. Albert." Said Barry

"You as well Mr. Allen." Said Julian

"Now Mr. Albert do you have any special skills that you would bring to this department?" asked Singh

"Well Captain, I consider myself an expert in crimes that involve meta humans."

"Really? Allen is a leading expert in that field. His wife is also a consultant in matters that involve meta humans regarding medical or biochemistry matters." Said Singh

"You use outside Consultants? Isn't that a little unconventional?" asked Julian

"Not really. Other departments have used outside experts when needed. The fact is my wife has access to state of the art testing equipment at Star Labs, and as long as the chain of custody is followed with the evidence there is no problem." Said Barry

"I prefer to due my own testing. I don't trust outside sources."

Singh met Barry's eyes and then nodded. Barry knew that it was better to restore Julian's memory from the pre crisis timeline then not to. He knocked over some papers and when Julian moved to help him picked them up he touched the other man with the memory ring. After blinking a few times Julian turned to face him.

"Allen what the bloody hell was that for?" asked Julian

"Sorry, about that. But there was no other way to give you those memories." Said Barry

"Ok fine. But now I am going to work under you?"

"On paper. But as long as you don't try and boss me around we should be fine. There is one other CSI we will work with. Patty Spiviot, and she does know about my other job. Now do you still have an issue with Cait helping us out?"

"Caitlin is your wife? What happened to you being in love with Detective West's daughter?"

"Well on this Earth I met Caitlin in college and we fell in love. Besides I have come to realize that Iris was an unhealthy obsession. Cait is a much better fit for me."

"Is Caitlin still Killer Frost?"

"Albert there is no Killer Frost. Dr. Snow is not the ice Quern that helps the Flash. As for who she is that is up to her if she wants you to know. Now both of you get out of here and go do something in that lab, unless one of you is needed at a crime scene or something." Said Singh

Both men nodded and headed out. Once on their way up to the lab Barry lowered his voice and asked Julian a question.

"Are you having any blackouts like before?"

"I had one a few days ago. Think Caitlin will be able to find out if I am Alchemy again?"

"Possibly. I will call later and get clearance for you to come to Star Labs. Security is much better this time around."

"To be honest it couldn't have gotten worse then it was before."

Barry just rolled his eyes. But knew Julian had a point.
